Came in tonight to check out this place that is close to our hotel. The atmosphere and decoration of the restaurant was amazing. The staff was attentive and very pleasant. They have a salad bar that looked wonderful, but we had salad for lunch, so unfortunately I cannot review. It was definitely used by other customers and I only saw smiles. We ordered gardenia pizza that was thin crust DELISH! No soggy bottoms here and the sun dried tomatoes were a perfect edition to the pie. They have a full bar and many choice of wine as well. We did order the French onion soup and it was worth every penny. Our final guests had the lasagna- stated it was delicious, but they were underwhelmed on the garlic toast- said it lacked flavor:/ and their zucchini was bland with little seasoning. The prices were about what we are seeing in Fairbanks, so I would say they are a little high/reasonable, but the portions make up for that little more paid. We did see the Alfredo pasta and the lady told her group it was perfect. I would go back and maybe try the pasta or another lovely pizza again! read more

We visited 6/14/25 French onion soup is what Geraldos does best. No doubt. My seafood pasta dish was good, but for the price could have had less noodles and more protein. My father ordered the $37 ribeye during my birthday dinner. He rarely eats beef anymore due to the expense, but likes his steaks medium. The steak that came out was rare, and of course my father was trying to be polite and wouldn't send it back. But I felt terrible that he still tried to choke it down. It was stringy and chewy, even for me as someone who likes steaks rare, so I'm not sure how cooking it more would help much to be honest. It was a cheaper cut of meat. Service was 5/10. It took forever to get acknowledged let alone to get food and drink orders. We were there almost 3 hours. Ambiance was pleasant. I was here last year and had a far better experience. Maybe it was just an off night. Our bill was around $300 not including the tip. We decided in the future we'd just eat at home. read more

Yesterday after sightseeing in Fairbanks Joanna and I ate dinner at Geraldo's. Joanna had deep fried halibut which was cooked perfectly and was delicious. Her dinner came with mashed potatoes, roasted zucchini and garlic bread. I had a seafood medley: clams, shrimp and halibut. Dinner included a trip to the salad bar. We loved our salads. My husband and I just ate here and if you're looking for authentic Italian food you won't find it here. The food in general has way too much garlic and it's not even fresh (from the jar minced kind). We had to send our appetizer back because it had so much garlic is was inedible. Furthermore, the salad bar is a joke - the options are incredibly limited and nothing is labeled nor fresh. Our entrees were filled with garlic and pre frozen meats which is disappointing since each entree was about $25-30. My takeout order experience today was disappointing. I had 4 to-go boxes and an order of meatballs piled high in one grocery bag. When I questioned the stability of the bag, nicely, the hostess put an extra bag on the counter and walked away. The restaurant was clean, decorated tastefully in an appropriate theme, and the server and hostess were fantastic. My son and I really wanted to like Geraldo's. We ordered a Margarita Pizza which had so much garlic that we couldn't taste any other ingredients. There wasn't any sauce on the pizza and there was an imperceptible amount of cheese. My son and I both commented to one another that we felt like we were eating bread heavily laced with garlic. We didn't finish the food, and they didn't ask how it was. We went here in the afternoon. They do have an afternoon lunch buffet until 2 or 3pm, if we're not mistaken, but we had just missed it. It looked like a good option at a good price, but we were happy to try their regular menu. The ambience was cozy and Italian. It felt like a homey, local version of Olive Garden, a bit more authentic and not as commercial. It would be a nice family restaurant or even date spot. They have an outdoor patio as well. The mozzarella sticks we got were the best we've ever had. The cheese is stringy perfection and the breading is seasoned well, very tasty. The breading didn't slide off the cheese. The outer shell was crispy and the cheese inside was soft. The marinara was a lovely complement. 10/10 would get again. The garlic fries were only good to one of us. They were crisp and nicely salted but the garlic was pretty much raw minced garlic. The garlic flavour wasn't incorporated into the seasoning so it wasn't a consistent taste, but it was quite strong when you got a little heap. We've had better elsewhere so it wasn't someone we'd get again. The pizza was delicious. One of our favourite flavours are arugula and prosciutto. They did this very well. The pizza was a little greasy when it came, but the grease was really oil and it was flavourful. It didn't feel overly heavy. This is the first place we've found in Fairbanks that has this pizza flavour. We would get this again. All in all, we had a great time here and do plan to visit again. read more

We were staying in a kind of remote Fairbanks resort with no car; and this was one of the few restaurants within walking distance. The reviews were kind of mixed, but we were craving pizza so we thought we'd give it a try. We visited on a Wednesday night and it was not too busy. We were seated within minutes however the hostess guided us to a large table; when I asked if we could have a nearby booth instead she answered "no, because it was dirty." It was already empty of dishes and there was actually a busboy cleaning it; but she set our menus down at the table and just walked away with absolutely no smile or warm comment like "enjoy your dinner." Our server, Stephenie, greeted us just seconds later & she was very pleasant and friendly. We looked over the menus and then ordered some beers and a large sausage/onion pizza. The beers came out really fast & she brought us water as well. The pizza was more than big enough for 2, and good; especially the crust. Stephenie came by frequently to check on us and. The busser also came by often to refill our water. The restaurant has cute decor and other than the hostess we had a pleasant experience. If you order the build your own with pepperoni they will charge you for a specialty pepperoni plus toppings. I have corrected them each time but they continue to overcharge me. I want to start by saying the food was good. The calamari was over cooked, however, the shrimp Alfredo was perfect. The atmosphere was nice and the server was fantastic. With that said, it took quite some time to receive my main entree and they do not peel their shrimp when they cook them into the shrimp Alfredo which I found bizarre. The shrimp was perfectly cooked however and peeled easily. The salad bar was lackluster with rather large pieces of lettuce in the dish that I wish they would cut down into smaller pieces. My first drink was watery and unsatisfactory but my second was rich with alcohol and flavor. It took me about 45-50 minutes to receive my main entree after I ordered. We came as it was highly recommended by our tour guide., and it was one of the few options near our hotel. Service was SLOW. Wine came out in about 10 minutes, soft drinks 20 minutes later. 15 minutes later the lukewarm Escargot arrived. 20 minutes later the French Onion soup, of course it came without spoons which came after we requested them and were tossed on the plates. The table next to us also received their soup sans spoons. Main courses came out about 90 minutes after we were seated. One of our party ordered Veal Parmesan, but received Eggplant. The Shrimp Scampi was 5 shrimp in a bowl of sauce, The shrimp was consumed prior to the others in our party receiving their Calzones. Parmesan Cheese was mentioned, but never arrived. I love Garlic, but it overpowered my Italian Cheesesteak. Food was good, but only come here if you have a couple hours to dine. Everything was excruciatingly slow including drink refills. Water came in small glasses and despite asking for a second refill, it never arrived. 3 of our 4 bills were incorrect. I gave 2 stars but I think that was generous. There are several more things that I could mention, but will stop here. Positives: the replacement Veal came out in about 5 minutes and a cocktail was comped. read more

I literally don't know how this is possible, but it was even worse than last time we visited. We've been coming on and off for 15 years- have seen the decline of quality unfortunately. Used to have great Italian food, cooks and servers. We heard that their cheesteaks were good at lunch so we decided to come in about 3:30 and ordered (3 adults). Only about 5 other tables had people at them, two people working front of house... Finally had our order taken 20 mins after getting there. Waitress didn't write anything down.. Was surprised cuz that's something good waitresses are capable of. Buuuut.... She forgot the appetizer and lied about it, said it was chefs fault. Even though... We heard the host go in and ask for it. Only to realize it never got ordered. Food took 45 mins to come out, warm not hot. Only fries were actually hot. Which are actually really great fries. Mozzi bread that used to be too tier has turned horrible. Soggy bottom stale on sides. My cheesesteak was..... Not a cheesesteak.. Attaching pictures because EW. Lasagna was mediocre and I used to love that here. Fettuccine was okay with decent serving. Pizza has gone down hill too. Still the best on menu. But has declined in quality- idk if it's sauce or cheese or what but not great. Our waitress.... we would have been perfectly fine/ happy with, had she been honest.. She was doing her best given being alone. She was friendly. But definitely overwhelmed. Still tipped well cuz.... I know the life. Long story short. It was an awful experience. Awful...the absolute worst experience I've had in a very long time at a restaurant. For starters they were clearly short handed, maybe 4 servers working the whole restaurant. We were seated and then waited 15 mins just to get greeted by the server. We ordered drinks and got those 10 mins later. A full hour after being seated our food finally showed up. This is where it went from bad to terrible. My son's shrimp scampi had enough oil to heat a home thru a Fairbanks winter. My wife's Caesar salad included random pieces of red onion and carrots. We asked for our check and the server brought it over 5 mins later and without hesitation just takes my CC without presenting me with the bill. I checked it for accuracy after he gave me the CC slips and thankfully it was accurate. This is one of those restaurants you see on a "Restaurant Nightmare" episode. I kept looking around for hidden cameras but unfortunately there were none. Comically, on the way out though there is a bulletin board with a note pinned to it offering their furniture for sale. Maybe they're getting ready for a makeover? In any event, steer clear of this place. Too many other great restaurants in Fairbanks to waste a meal here. read more

I had a free day here in Fairbanks while on a cruise, I hiked for a while to the Wildlife Sanctuary nearby, hiked through it, and worked up quite an appetite and thirst. When I walked by this little place on the way back to the ship, I could smell garlic and basil near the parking lot. I served Italian food in Las Vegas for 20 years; the aroma told me this place was authentic. The hostess was warm and inviting, I got a table right away. By my table was an old classic black and white photo of Sophia Loren walking down an Italian plaza, with men on the sidewalk frozen in admiration, their jaws hanging open. Seriously, how Italian is that?! Then I was greeted by my server Keshana, who went by "Ki-ki." And I hope I got her name right. She was pleasant, guided me through the menu, and helped me order the pizza I was craving. When it arrived, it was simply the perfect addition to my long afternoon. The flavor quality was top notch, probably the best pizza I've had in a very long time, home or abroad. I could not finish it all and gave the last few slices to a table next to me. If you go to Fairbanks and want a dynamite pizza, find this place! It may look simple on the outside, but you will not be disappointed by the food and wine selection. If they opened a location in Las Vegas, I'd dine there at least once a week! Hard. Rubbery. All at the same time. My fiancé and I got the salad buffet. Bruh......I've seen many of salad buffets in my life. I like meat and cheese and egg but I understand that not every one will include all of those though cheese was present. However, I've never seen one that didn't have cucumbers until I went to Geraldo's. It may not seem like a big deal but in MY mind, cucumbers are salad basics! On the flip side, their house dressing was outstanding. For dinner, I had the Veal Scallopine and my fiancé had the Stuffed Manicotti. T. R. A. S. H. I watch old episodes of "Kitchen Nightmares." This place needs a visit from Gordon Ramsey or the genie from "Aladdin".....something magical to transform it.
