This place has been here for YEARS! I live one street over on Layman Ave and remember playing a pinball machine they used to have in the restaurant back about 1974. I do not think the owners are original though as it is now a Asian husband and wife who work their butts of yet keep smiling :-) I had to write this just now because I went their last night for the first time in years. And today I have been thinking all day about the submarine sandwich we had last night. It was perfect! I did have to wait awhile to get the sandwich though. But that was understandable as like I said, the husband and wife were working their butts off! When I first walked in there were about 8 people from the same family happily stuffing their faces with sandwiches and pizza. Then I watched as the husband put together what looked like a medium all meat pizza that made me weak in the knees it looked so good going in the oven, and looked 10 times better coming out! Oh man ... it looked sooooo good. While I was there probably 8 more people came and went with food and the last to arrive were 2 Pico Rivera Sheriffs on their dinner break I am going to assume. And when cops show up for food, you usually know the place is good because those guys know all the places in town to eat. And the thing is, just in the last year about 3 businesses down from Two Sals, on the same side of Rosemead as them but across Arma Ave from them a Papa John's pizza just opened up! And Two Sals is still rockin' it!!! I love it! A big corporation like Papa John's opens up a stones throw away and mom and pop look like they haven't even taken a hit :-) And before it burned down there was a Domino's pizza in the same area as Papa John's and Two Sals still prospers! Anyway, I just wanted to give them props for being around so long and doing what they do best, make kick ass food for us all to eat. Just be aware that they do get insanely busy! It seems the negative reviews here are mainly about the wait or not being waited on soon enough or whatever. All you need to do is stand back and watch the husband and wife scramble around and ... if you do not get it by then, you ain't never going to get it. Nuff said, I am out! read more

I just ate the absolute worst meatball sub in my life. The meatballs were more bread than meat! They did not have any flavor whatsoever. The sauce was tastless as well it tastes like they used the absolute cheapest ingredients. The cheese didn't even taste like cheese. Please Two Sals use a meatball recipie that includes Italian sausage and ground beef. Add a LITTLE bit of breadcrumbs and eggs to keep it together and then bake. Use good quality mozzarella and try a new sauce recipe for the meatballs at least. Great price though and for that 2 stars. read more

I found out about this place from people at work. They raved about this place so I decided to give it a try. First impression, pizza was super greasy to the point of being nauseating. I love fried or greasy food but it was just too much. I usually feel sick after eating their pizza. They are pretty generous with the cheese which is a plus for some people. I love love love cheese but something about this particular cheese makes me feel gross afterwards. I would give their pizza maybe a 2 or 3 at best. Also, some of the toppings like their mushrooms are from a can. I do not like the texture of the mushrooms. The reason I'm giving them 1 star is due to very bad customer service. Most of the time when I try to phone in to place an order for work, no one ever picks up! Never received any kind of acknowledgement whatsoever. Today was the last straw, I went in said hello and the lady just completely ignored me. She seemed really focused on preparing what I guess is a pizza, possible multiple pizzas since she was pretty frantic grabbing ingredients out from the fridge. I wouldn't recommend dining in because it feels like an oven inside. I've tried a couple other items on their menu and those were just ok as well. I'm all about supporting small businesses but when the owners could care less about your business then seeya! I go to Asian restaurants all the time and I'm used to bad service, but this takes the cake. FYI I am Asian! I went next door for some tacos and they helped me right away. Best Pizza in Pico hands down!! Been coming here for years. What a great place. A lot of people love their toasted subs with turkey and avocado but in my opinion the main star of this place is the Pizza. No cardboard crust, no tasteless toppings on their pies only fresh, delicious indredients. Having lived in Pico Rivera all my life the Pizza hasn't changed at all. In fact, I can remember the original owners who were an Italian family. Not too much has changed except for the fact that the owners are now Korean. Not that it even matters. What matters is can they make good Pizza and the answer is, YES they can and do!! In fact they make it the same way the original owners used to make it. As others have noted, this Pizza is loaded with cheese so if you are lactose intolerant stay away. The crust is nice and crispy and the perfect thickness. I've been meaning to ask them about their Italian sausage because it is fresh and delicious. Man I'm getting hungry just typing about it. I think I'm going to order a pie tonight. This tiny little pizzeria is a local favorite. Actually, I've only eaten their pizza a few times years ago and it was pretty good. I come for their pastrami sandwich which transports me to pastrami heaven. It's just bread, pastrami, pickles and mustard. What's the secret? Is it the first class thick pastrami? Is it the dill pickles or the plain yellow mustard, or, that they toast it in the pizza oven?!? Five stars for the pastrami sandwich all by itself! I usually have the small which is perfect for lunch. I tried the large and it was almost too much of a good thing. Split it with a friend! 2 Sals seats about 10 people but you can usually get a seat...maybe not after this post. You sit right in front of the oven which can be hot in the summer..no AC..don't matter, I still come. In cold weather I can't think of a cozier place to have lunch in Pico Rivera! read more

This review is for the subs. Honestly one of the best subs I've ever had. I get the turkey ham and cheese, and for about $6.00 you can't beat that price, you can add avocado for about $1.00 more. The subs come with tomatoes, lettuce, mayo and pepperoncinis. The bread is light toasted in their pizza oven, the meats are always fresh same goes for the ingredients. I'll have to try their pizzas next time. The owners are very friendly. They can get busy so I recommend calling ahead. This is my new go to spot for subs. I'm done with subway. read more

After she opened the door, she went to the back and left a line of customers waiting for another 5 minutes. When she came out she announced they had no pastrami. We tried to order pizza but she said she had no pizza. Odd for a pizza place which has a sign outside that reads "pizza made to order." Not sure what else they had left to serve. First time trying this place, and I'm glad we gave it a chance! The pizza IS good. But theirs subs must be even better, as I saw multiple people picking up sub orders to go. And it seems as though they have a lot of loyal customers, which speaks volumes. After reading the reviews, most of which complained about no one "answering the phone." I get it. It did ring multiple times while I was there. But I won't hold it against them, nor give them a bad review because of it. They are busy!! And unfortunately since there are only 2 of them, there isn't much time to answer a phone. It seems as though they don't even have a moment to breath, as they are working hard and fast!! I remember the evenings when we would pick up a pizza and go home and indulge. The pizza reeks of freshness and quality. I have yet to introduce my beau to this bombness. I Yelp it and out pops Two Sal's Pizza. The reviewers say a little hole in the wall, dude they weren't kidding. They say pretty inexpensive...it's almost downright cheap. They say delicious, oh yes it is! I ended up ordering a small little personal pizza to try it out. Blanca and I don't eat pizza much anymore, so when we do we like it to be good. I like it cheesy. She likes it saucy. This pizza was made with us in mind and the small for 5.90 and .50 for extra toppings was a good price and not a personal pizza. It was enough for both of us. It gave 6 smallish slices. We also got the Roast beef sandwich. Toasted and delicious with just a little spice and crunch from the lettuce and pepperoncini. They were also made quickly. I expected to have a more flavorful sandwich based on the reviews and a recommendation from a friend. I like that they toast the bread really well, but overall the sandwich lacked flavor. I think it needs a zestier dressing/mayo spread. Also, it's a small place so the pizza oven makes the entire place feel like an oven. Seating is minimal so it wouldn't be ideal for big parties. I have been a customer of two sals for over 25 years. I have seen 3 different owners and it was always our favorite. In the last few years it is damn near impossible to place a phone order for delivery or pickup. They never answer the phone. Tonight I tried for over an hour and a half with no answer. Two weeks ago when I was lucky enough to get through the pizza was greasier than I have ever experienced. I love leftover pizza but it was not edible the next morning as the grease had solidified and the micro made it a greasy mess. They may have been great years ago and I'm not saying they are not still great pizza, but there comes a time when you have to care where you spend your money. It really doesn't matter if that's how they've always been, but when you call to order a pizza for pick and they don't answer their phone- and they're clearly open with nobody inside, that's a problem. I called them yesterday 37 times and they never answered or they pick up and hang up. What kind of service is that?? On the 37th time, the man acted like he didn't understand me. By the 21st attempt, I no longer wanted the pizza. When he finally answered, I asked if he understood that I had been calling them 36 times and did he not want my order? He acted like he didn't understand me, but if you've been to this place, this man knows English very well. He understood. Again, enough is enough. How can anyone keep going back to them giving them your money when they don't even care to pick up the phone. Service plays a huge role. That's what probably makes a spot the best. Not just the food. Stop by to get a pastrami sammie wit cheez. So I was the only patron there. Took them about 15 mins to make it. Here's my review on the sammich. Bread was toasted but still too soft. It was burnt on edges. The meat was dry. Seemed like old pastrami to me. The place is old and dated. I don't think they've done any modernization since the 80's. I may return to try pizza.
