I understand they have no public restrooms but I'm sorry I had to go to the bathroom so badly and I was planning on eating there 100 percent! So despite my protests, we ended up going here again. They have a beautiful restaurant and a great view, but the service is horrendous. The menu is actually good but the execution fails. There is a reason this place is always empty, because it so badly misses the mark. Tonight was almost comical. We waited over 45 minutes for an appetizer and then another 20 minutes for the main course but they brought the 4 entrees out one at a time and there was a ten minute wait in between. Are you kidding me? We usually like to eat our entrees together, not one at a time. To make matters worse, three of the four entrees were so poorly prepared we didn't eat them. The manager was conveniently "unavailable" but I saw him slinking around in the back. I guess he didn't think it was worth his time to apologize for a horrible experience. Never again! read more

This is one of my favorites! We got married upstairs and every time we are their they are so excited to see us and treat us like we are part of the family. The food has always been delicious. It is hard to pick a favorite as the menu is always changing. I usually go for a variation of fish with pasta. We had a penne vodka at our wedding that was so good people are still talking about it six years later. The food is all made to order which is why it takes a while to come out but I personally enjoy a relaxed dining experience at a fancy restaurant. Wonderful little bistro. Very attentive waitstaff, good entree selection, creative specials and live music. We ordered the beef Wellington, filet mignon, fruiti de mare and the short rib ragu. Everything was delicious. The only complaint I have was the prosciutto wrapped cantaloupe appetizer; they didn't use prosciutto. But this was a minor complaint. My friend and I stumbled upon this restaurant and decided to give it a try, and I'm so glad we did. We sat on the patio with a beautiful view of the river and the Tappan Zee Bridge. Our waiter, Bernard, could not have been more helpful, bringing us tasting glasses of wine when we couldn't decide what to order. The food was delicious and fresh. I ordered the duck wings as a starter and they were succulent and delicious. We were very happy with all of our food orders, every dish was delicious and fresh. Two Spear Street is a hidden gem. We have visited and experienced some good times at 2 Spear Street, but last night I must say the wait staff just was not on their game. We first came in and were seated by the manager / host. That was the last we saw him. He spent the rest of the evening socializing with his friends at the bar. Our waiter seemed new and nervous, Asked for a glass of Melbec and the waiter had no clue and suggested I Check the drink menu. Needless to so I did not order a glass of wine. The waiter did come back and told us the specials and proceed to take our order. I must say the food was excellent. The dishes were well balanced with flavor, presentation was nice. My wife's steak was ordered medium rare and was served medium well no waiter follow up. No suggestive selling. Found the bussing staff unfamiliar with the restaurant, along with unfamiliar with what and where dishes and meals belong. Meals delivered to wrong tables, steak knives extra plates for shells from seafood dishes set up in front of wrong person. Yes little details missing from a great experience. The restaurant was full and reservations well planned. The staff and kitchen never seemed to be over rushed. The dinning experience was very relaxed. Staff should have some follow up training, and a manager to be more in tune with the restaurant and not hanging out at the bar all evening. Yes we will be back. read more

The waitress recommended the sport rib and it was delicious - the wine sauce was excellent. My wife had the steak which was equally good. Don't wait for the warm weather - it gets packed quick. I really enjoyed the dining experience here. A beautiful view for starters, combined with valet parking since parking in Nyack is difficult. A win! We sat at the bar waiting for another couple. Drinks made to perfection, overlooking the water/bridge. Very attentive to detail. Watercress salad was delicious and the plate decorated perfectly! Hubby had the Caesar salad and he said it was very good. My sister in law had the duck confit, and she was thinking about taking home an extra order for tomorrow. We both had the Bucatini for dinner, it was very good. Hubby had the Marlin and brother in-law had the steak. Everyone agreed it was very, very good! They really pay a lot of attention to detail. Yes, some of the other reviews here state that it took a long time for the food to come out. Yes, it might have taken awhile, I think I might've preferred it taking a little bit longer because you know it was cooked fresh and not just microwaved and reheated. I'd take that hands down anytime. We did not have room for dessert but we will definitely make sure we do next time. We will definitely be back, we will definitely not mind waiting and lingering over a cocktail while her food is cooked to perfection in. Love this place! Came here last night for the first time & could not have been happier. The restaurant is beautiful with a coffered ceiling & perfectly lit dining room. We started off with cocktails & then the bartender followed mine up with the extra from the shaker. The menu is fabulous and we shared the shrimp & avocado salad which was nicely flavored, and the octopus, which was nice and tender though the portion could've been a bit larger. I had the special, sea bass w garbanzo beans & small tomatoes in a light zucchini purée which was delicious, and my bf had the duck which was just as tasty. We cleaned our plates! Walked in for a table for two at 8:30pm. Upon entering, no one greeted us right away and finally a gentleman came over to let us know they couldn't take us for the evening (before we even asked). I'd understand if they were full, but we saw plenty of tables available, all of which he told us were reserved. He was sweating and seemed stressed but that's still not an excuse for being so rude. He left a bad taste in our mouth. My friend had actually eaten there a few days prior and was excited for me to try it. I had high hopes after reading reviews on here and also hearing from a friend that this restaurant was good. I will never go back. My husband and I ate here last night as it is Hudson Valley Restaurant Week and we have usually had good experiences with the restaurants we pick off the list. The dinner was prix-fix with various options to choose from...My husband had a salad (decent) and steak. The steak was dry and flavorless though the fries with truffle oil were not bad. I had grilled calamari (also decent) and the "crispy duck". The duck was truly awful...grey meat covered in gelatious fat that tasted microwaved (it had hot and cold spots) and it was covered in what tasted like fast food bbq sauce. The garlic mashed potatoes were goopy and gross and flavorless. I couldn't eat it. For the third course desert my husband had flan (half frozen) and I had the seasonal creme brulee, which was supposed to taste like amaretto but was actually burnt and tasted like it just came out of the freezer as well. The service was also poor - the restaurant was not busy but we had to stare at the three waiters standing around talking in order to get them to come to our table. The only reason I gave this place two stars was that the view of the Tapanzee Bridge and Hudson River was very nice and it has potential to be a good place for drinks - plus I've never eaten off their regular menu so its possible that what my husband and I got was not their best stuff...but I will not be returning to find out. read more

I came with my cousin on a weekday and had a really nice dinner. So I made a special trip from the Woodbury Outlets on a Saturday but this time the owner was just rude. He greeted us with rudeness and only offered us at seat at the bar for dinner ( AK - I love sitting at the bar but this place is snoozeville). Note to owner: tell folks you have no seats but then give them a time when a table will be available or at least talk to us with respect--he kept repeating himself about the bar like a robotic broken record vs just having a conversation with us. Our dining experience had a number fundamental "mistakes" , that made our dinner disappointing. Firstly, friendly efficient staff and great ambience. But...slow service out of the kitchen. Ok, no big deal, but then the big blooper: after a long wait 5 entrees were served, then nearly 5 minutes while we waited for the 6th person's entree. Chopped baked clams - but the clams weren't chopped. Crispy skin duck that was served with no skin? And too dry. Generous portions of NZ rack of lamb but the flavor of the lamb was completely drowned by the sauce. Snapper that was also a little dry. One party member ordered RibEye and said it was fantastic. What a great restaurant. We were given a window seat overlooking the Hudson. The restaurant is the only organic and GMO free restaurant with great ambiance in the trip state area. The food, the view, the service...all excellent!!!! We visited on a glorious sunny day for Sunday Brunch! We sat outside on the patio overlooking the Hudson River and the Tappan Zee Bridge. My husband raved about his eggs benedict, my friend had the veal milanese and I had the thyme infused chicken over greens. The eggs benedict were cooked perfectly over a light flakey bun with a crispy piece of canadian bacon and a very light flavorful lemon sauce. The chicken was not overpowered with the spice but very delicately flavored and perfectly seasoned over greens. The veal was the best my friend ever had...light mozzarella was melted over the veal cutlet taht was delicately breaded and fried. This was served over greens as well. Everything was fresh and wonderful. And you can be sure to get a full sized glass of wine with your meal. I will be back for dinner. read more

I have been here in the past and had decent meal. Our recent visit was during restaurant week. Two of us had ordered off the special menu and two off the regular menu. The staff were attentive but not overly friendly. The food was inconsistent. The steak special was rubbery, tough and extremely overcooked. My wife had a fish special she said was delicious. The other two ordered off the menu. One had a chicken dish she loved, but the other was an extremely overcooked meatloaf and watery mashed potatoes. At $28 for meatloaf you would expect more. The appetizers were very good. Most of the wines were on the low end and extremely overpriced. They are trying to be fancy upscale restaurant but fall short with the food. Catering seems to be a good portion of their business and that is what you will be fed, mediocre banquet entrees.You would think they would want to make sure the restaurant week entrees would stand out but it seemed they went cheap to make a profit. Short sighted as most customers that would be fed this food would be unlikely to return. I do find myself returning to the places I visited after restaurant week, this won't be one. read more

It was empty in there on the Saturday night we went. After the experience we had, it is no wonder. They took an excruciating amount of time for our food to come out. We were there for 3 hours, not by choice. The food was expensive and underwhelming. We have to pay a babysitter when we go out and we don't get to go out often. This was such a drag and our waiter became defensive when we asked what the hold up was. He was rude for the rest of the time we were there and even sent the bartender to us to say that we were wrong about the food taking too long. Just tried this restaurant for the first time. It has a lot of potential. The ambience is intimate and inviting. The view of the Hudson and tappan zee bridge is beautiful. The salads were very good. The tuna tartare lacked flavor. But plenty other starters to try. Those that ordered the cavatelli with goat cheese and lobster risotto were very happy. My seared tuna was a lit over cooked and my husband lamb shank a bit salty. That said, we informed the waiter of our thoughts, and vowed to be back for another try. And we will. read more

Went with large group... 10 people. Service was superb. Waiter attentive. Restaurant had a funny "Glade" room spray smell when we arrived but it dissipated while we were there. Nice gap between courses -- I am big fan of having a few minutes between courses rather than the kitchen shoving apps and salads and entrees out to the table all at once. But yhe entree course could have been better wuality. Everyone who got bacon-wrapped beef special at the table raved about it. Scallops dish was deemed good but uninspired by the 3 who got it. But I got the shrimp Asian stir fry and it was absolutely horrible. As opposed to advertised crisp shrimp stir-fried in ginger and served over tricolor pasta, I got a soup bowl filled with incompletely-drained store-bought noodles topped by a few rubbery shrimp steamed in margarine and served with tails still on. No sign of any spices. It was like a bowl of dishwater filled with spaghetti and warm erasers. For $23. I was served last so didnt have it in me to hold up the group by sending it back. So I picked at it but gave up and loaded up on bread. Kind of surprising since they only have 20 items on the entire menu so one would assume chef has them all figured out. We have an office nearby so are in the area regularly. But I would not return. Too much $$$ to play entree roulette. read more

Not all that thrilled. Bartender called out sick, so they were short staffed which is ok. They were having a wedding upstairs. Both the catering hall and the restaurant are owned by the same people. Because of the wedding being held, they had the cocktail hour on the porch and seating was very limited. We had to sit right next to the bar. Fortunately the bar was not very crowded. Our 'ambience' experience was not very good. Had to ask for plates when bread was served, and then again when appetizers were served. Crab cake was good but not memorable. Also had the crab dip. This was good (no lump crab meat, so don't expect it), it was also big - adequate for 4 people and topped with Swiss, which I thought was different and good. I had Macadamia encrusted Tuna with chipotle ponzu sauce. Tuna was topped with macadamia nuts, not 'encrusted'. It was not cooked with the sauce, but came on the side. All in all, this was good, not great. Sauce was a bit spicy. My wife had Sea Bass. Wasn't exciting, and a bit bland. Probably won't return. read more

Very disappointing dinner this evening. We arrived at 5:30, and ordered drinks and appetizers within 10 mins. Drinks arrived subsequently within 5 mins, but our appetizers ( a shrimp Spring Roll and a Caesar Salad) took 45 minutes to arrive. Mind you we were the only table occupied went we sat. The app's were delicious (very creative Caesar Salad, with Grilled baby Romaine), but why sooooooooo long? Dinner on the other hand, left a great deal to be desired. My wife's Seafood Fra Diavolo was good, but my Lamb Kabob was inedible. I could barely cut through it, speak nothing of trying to chew it. By the time the server got around to checking on us (we were 1 of 2 tables) I was no longer interested in any replacement options. On a scale of 1-10, the food ran the gamut of creative to terrible, but overall it was a 4. The service on the other hand had NO redeeming features it was a 2. As a chef myself, I'd be embarrassed to serve the food, and offer the service, they did. There are too many better options in a 5 min walk to waste your time and money here. read more
