Zesty buffalo and lemon pepper wings, blue cheese and ranch on the side
Philip B.

We used to not eat wings much, but wings seem to keep falling in front of us so we oblige and eat them as they come. Today we were already hungry and trying to find a place to eat, and I saw the Eater LA article about John Clark and his story of striking out on his own to cook wings out of his family church. Online ordering all setup through Toast, which has much lower fees to the restaurant than Grubhub, they'll be ready in 15 minutes and it's a 15 minute drive there. Done deal. When we arrived, the owner was there and was kind to us and thanks us for coming by. The order was correct, ready when we arrived, and hot enough to stay hot by the time we got home. The wings were perfectly cooked, meat falling off the bone. The sauced and the dry wings were both photogenic and tasted as good as they looked. Zesty buffalo was incredibly delicious. Mildly spicy, crispy skin on the wings, just enough sauce to leave your fingers wet. Lemon pepper was a surprise contender for the better of the two. Very thoroughly dressed and also nice and crispy skin.

Some seriously delicious wings. I never thought a wing flavor could dethrone lemon pepper (though his lemon pepper wings are great too!) as my favorite, but the Zesty Buffalo is now wing king for me. Buffalo with a twist that you won't regret ordering. The cauliflower, do not forget to order the cauliflower. Beating any other Buffalo cauliflower out there. I can't even wait to get home to eat it. I eat them in the car on my way home to eat the wings. Caesar salad is great. Not too heavy, the dressing has a great balance. Watch for the themed pop up days too. Soul Sunday produced the best green beans I've ever had, super tender and delicious oxtails, and yummy sweet potatoes.

I delayed writing this review to really think through, and now I will confidently say--these are…read moreeasily the best tacos I've ever had. Having been to so many taco stands, I think what makes Tire Shop Taqueria really stand out are the right-off-the-grill charcoal-grilled meats, the freshly made tortillas literally in front of you as you are waiting on line, and the free guacamole that comes with each taco. The ordering process is like any other taco stand, though one difference is here the salsas/guacamole are all handled by the staff. If you'd like more of something, just ask them instead of reaching for the ladle yourself. There is a separate area though for grilled onions/peppers and radishes you can serve yourself. I got the asada, chorizo, cabeza, and al pastor, and they were all so good. The asada and chorizo are specifically grilled over charcoal, and that flavor really shines through. I loved how meaty and tender the cabeza was too, and the classic al pastor hit the spot. They have large communal tables setup, so it is a great friendly vibe to enjoy your meal I will say, the surrounding area is not the best in LA, especially given how the taco stand is only open at night. The parking lot is quite small, so I parked on a side street that had some abandoned cars, but of course, if you are in/from LA, this is not that new for us. I would hesitate if I am a tourist though to make it out here. Anyhow, the food really is worth it here, and I can't wait to be back!

My friend said, this place had bomb tacos and tacos are my favorite especially when coming to LA,…read morehowever this place fell short on my expectations. The tostada was very hard and chewy thought I was going to brake a tooth. Asada meat and guacamole on the tostada had no salt. The only thing I was able to taste was the spicy salsa, which it's extremely spicy. My chorizo taco cold and the mulita was okay. Tortillas hand made which that's a plus Agua fresca de pineapple tasted water down too much just tasted the water with hint of pineapple. If you new to this place just know that you can ask for frijoles de la olla on the side they are free. I did like that they had grill onions and it's self serve. Street parking available, but know area not the best to be in. Tables have about 3 incase you planning eat there, & if super hungry know you will be waiting for a long time. It's really cool know it's a tire shop during the day and a taco shop in evenings. This place is very laid back attired unfortunately no music playing.

Haven't seen the pop-up the last couple times I drove by on Friday, but once the street parking was…read morefilled with buses, and with recent rains, can't set up all the time I guess. Today I was driving North on San Pedro to run work errands, not even thinking of bbq. But then it hit me, the smell and smoke through my window and I turned left to see the pop-up! Corner of 15th & San Pedro, set up is across the street from the LA Face mart. If you get near by I am sure you will see it or smell it:) Swung by after my lunch time errands, excited to get me some briskets again. But not today... Only the ribs, hot links, chicken were available this day. No worries, went for the $10 hot links to try something different. The hot links were good, the inside texture was smooth, don't think I've had this kind before. It definitely has kick, and definitely need to eat with bread. For my weak taste buds, it was too spicy and it literally took a lot of sweat, but ate it all up since still addicting. Been about 10 mins since I cleaned up, but I am still kinda perspiring, lol. I think for me personally, the hot links is 3 stars, since I can't enjoy as much while pouring sweat from my head. But then I'm weak (I pour sweat eating the mild green salsa from King Taco for reference). If you can handle the heat, I think it would be a 4. Hot links seem like a good item to get for the $5 sandwich. But then not sure if you get that crack potato salad! Will be on the lookout next time to see if they have briskets.
