Upscale eatery yet very comfortable. The food was fantastic, but even more the staff are amazing. They were all so friendly and willing to engage in all kinds of conversation. Even met some of the NY "regulars" who come in for a drink. Chances are you'll meet some interesting, friendly folks as well. read more

Perfect timing brought us to the Ty Bar! After a recommendation to an Asian place that needed up being closed, we came to The Four Seasons. We knew the would have at least one place worth visiting. At the exact time that both the brunch restaurant and bar were open at the same time, we chose the Bar and we are glad we did. Their signature Cosmo was refreshing! I went here towards the end of 2025 and was pleasantly surprised. It had an elegant atmosphere and great service. This place is definitely more upscale and I wasn't willing to spend more than $100 on a drink and some light bites, but I did get fries, sliders, and a cocktail. I go to Baccarat and Daniel and many others and this is a great bar. The one issue and it is truly disappointing and low class is the bar will automatically charge you a 20% service charge. When you step into the four seasons, you have great expectations. I've been to a few in Asia and the continental, and the Nyc didn't wow me. The selling point on their stock cocktails was that they age them for 60 days in barrels. The taste and feel of the drinks were ordinary, but the service is off the charts. Staff are great, friendly, professional. Hotel lobby ambiance is ok, nothing intimate, nothing special. might be a sports bar with tvs and such. Food is tasty and adequate small plate portions and a bit over priced. Cocktails are small and so far over-priced as to be laughable. If you want a Manhattan, skip Ty Bar. The volume of liquid was disguised by the unfortunate use of a fancy giant cube of ice making it look like you are getting a half-full glass when the volume of mixed drink is really quite small. I did not think to order it up, and was not asked, but if I had, the large tumbler likely would have appeared empty with a shallow shimmer of glistening midtown in the lower reaches. The giant ice cube simply serves to provide an extended drinking experience of dilute concoction of unknown composition. $43 for this sub-par swill masquerading as a manhattan is representative of all of their overpriced drinks. read more

I went with a few colleagues after work for cocktails and bar food. Just to say we had the experience. We all ordered 2 drinks and then we ordered a few of the tapas -crab cakes, beef tacos, truffle fries and sliders. Truffle fries - amazing. Beef tacos - succulent and juicy. Sliders - really good. Crab cakes - they were so small, I don't even remember how they tasted. Overall, it was a nice experience. I will never, ever, for the life of me understand why and how people drink and/or eat at hotel restaurants and bars. I get it, this is the Four Seasons but SHEEEEEESH it's expensive. Born and raised in one of the world's most expensive cities, even I had a mini panic attack glancing at the menu and seeing a simple glass of reisling for $30...and that was on the cheaper side. I wasn't paying but still ended up getting a margarita for the measly price of...$24. Insane. Even in nice restaurants around the city I can get TWO margaritas for that price. Mind. Blown. Also their pizza is $15...yet this "shared plate" is smaller than a standard NYC slice that costs $2...or $1 at some joints. I guess when you're a bazillionaire the prices don't matter but literally just to have a drink per person and a snack...shared...will cost over $100...not including tip. But at the end of the day...THIS IS THE FOUR SEASONS. It's really nice. You can get a glimpse of wedding parties at the bar, they even play the trumpet when the bride comes out, it's pretty cool. Is a hotel the sum of all its parts? I love the Four Seasons*, but I was recently disappointed by my lunch at their Ty restaurant. More accurately, my meal was overshadowed by: 1) Very uncomfortable chairs. 2) Others' conversations since the tables are too close to one another. 3) The middle aged woman to my left, sucking her fingers - Obviously, she was more impressed by the afternoon tea than I. My advice: Ask your host/ess to sit you at one of the large chaise lounges by the front or the plump armchairs near the fireplace in the back. Forgo the $50 afternoon tea & order from the lunch menu. I recommend the Cobb salad & the salmon. The latter arrives with in a lovely sauce & covered in a super crispy skin. Beautiful presentation. Our waiter, Darrin provided excellent service. After several detailed explanations of the tea offerings, I chose the Pannetone, which is based on the flavors of Italian bread. I wouldn't order it again - It sounds better than it tastes. If you like Lapsong Souchong (I don't - I like mild), you might want to try their BC Forestea. I think I'll look into the "Tilleul" Linden Blossom the next time. Total Tea Selections: 6 Black Teas 8 Herbal Teas 3 Green Teas 1 Oolong Tea Arrives in Asian style teapots, with mugs from Bernardaud. Not quite understanding what all the complaining is about but this is a pretty typical hotel lounge - it is the Four Seasons after all and so we have always found the service to be exemplary and the staff to be supercourteous. Try to get a seat by the fireplace in the back as those sofas are always the most relaxing. The drinks are always good - they sometimes rotate the cocktail selection but the blood orange mojito is a particular favorite. read more

Ummmm......I don't get it. I really do not understand the Upper East Side mentality, and I have to include this bar within that reference. If I had it my way, I just might never go north of 42nd Street, and even that high up is pushing it. Okay, so the decor is lovely (one star for this)....Me being an interior designer and all, I can appreciate this (nothing to write home about in regards to this, just nice, and clean, well kept...), and it is spacious, which was the reason we met here with clients to review their design project and dump our crap all over the oversized table, otherwise I wouldn't be caught dead here...way too stuffy for my liking. I didn't need to show off my $40 itty bitty seared tuna appetizer that tasted kind of generic, and quite honestly I've just simply had way better tasting for far less moolah, and my $18 glass of house Chardonnay-gimme a break. When they say bar "bites", take it literally, you will get just that- a few BITES, and that's really pushing it. The service is good...professional, polite, courteous. That's getting one extra star out of me at this point, but for the prices, the service SHOULD BE stellar. They have a CLOAK check....WTF is that all about? Ick.... This place is quite pricey but also pretty cool. It is located in the lobby of the Four Seasons - so outside of being a guest there, live close by or attending a conference there you probably would not be frequenting the place.It is a lounge style set-up with a gorgeous fire place. The chairs are over sized but comfortable and the area is surprising quiet. It felt like we were sitting in someones living room. It has a decent selection of wines and cocktails and few food items. the food dishes are small - definitely not enough for dinner - but still good for sharing. I had the tuna two ways - the Sashimi was VERY good but the roll was lacking. They did not use adequate sushi rice which made it mushy and sour. The seaweed salad on the dish was also really good. I also tried the Reuben egg rolls - which sound and look gross but taste wonderfully amazing! We were set for a "meeting" with several business folks for a casual but profeessional evening out. We first set it up at neighboring Tao, but some of us were late and the restaurant started its "club" atmosphere. So, being hungry.... and not everyone knowing what yelp was... naturally chose... the hotel next door!! CRINGE! (I TRIED to get them to yelp the lounge, but there were too many hungry people that they just wanted to get a lounge and sit). So we sat. Brief synopsis before you read on and are short in decision-making time: for a relaxing evening out to laugh and talk, with a little extra money to spare, and in need of simple non-ecclectic food makes this is a semi-keeper. Now for the more critical food review: I got a mushroom salad with sundried tomatoes and arugula and it was very tasty... definitely one of the better salads I've had and what I needed after starving for 3 hours! I then shared two entrees with a friend. She ordered a red snapper with tomatoed chickpeas (mediterranean style), Not flavorful. The red snapper was cooked nicely but nothing that great. It should have come out with a little bit more salt and pepper at least, and possibly some lemon. It would have helped tie the roots of the mediterranean. I also ordered Yellowfin Tuna Burger that came with slaw, Shrimp Chips, and an amazing Soy Ginger Aioli. I ordered the burger medium to well-done and it came out dry which I anticipated because tuna gets dry FAST, but I just wasn't feeling "rare" at the moment. HOWEVER, the taste of the aioli and the tuna seasoning was delish and brought it back to life. The slaw needs some salt as well but the shrimp chips (not fishy, btw, just part of the name) was a nice touch. I don't think I'll be back BUT if you're looking for a nice lounge to share drinks and desserts or just appetizers, I'd go. The group had a wonderful time being able to eat, brainstorm work ideas and need to have an open discussion without having to watch our tones or scream over music or other tables. read more

I visited New York City for the first time in about 15 years in July of 2013, and one of the things that the future wiffy wanted to do was to have a drink somewhere that was representative of the glitz and glamour that modern society pushes on us (in addition to checking out staples like the hot dog/papaya combo, McGee's because of the HIMYM reference, etc.). In theory, this seemed like a good idea because after all, we were on vacation - and I'm all for a well-made cocktail every now and then, even if I have to pay well-made cocktail prices. Ahem. Location: 4 out of 5 I suppose you have to take into perspective that the location rating is based on how close it is to the epicenter of what's "fun" and "exciting." In that respect, it's close to the south end of Central Park. Street parking you will find to be nearly impossible, though an abundance of public transportation can whisk you to and from the Four Seasons. Customer Service: 3.5 out of 5 Quite honestly, this is the first time I've ever seen Americans of Asian descent displayed so prominently as bartenders and waitstaff in a non-Asian restaurant. This is probably due to a different restaurant and bar culture in Chicago, but kudos to The Bar for a diversity in hiring. What I will mention is that while service was quick and efficient (key points of being Asian, right?), being a polished maker of small-talk could lighten the mood a little bit. So while there was nothing intrinsically "wrong" with the service that we got, the critique I would offer here is that the bartender might proactively engage his patrons in conversation, for example - it could start with something as optically relevant as highlighting the different types of domestic bourbons they had. Decor: 5 out of 5 Wee wee wah wee, this place is byooootiful. Great big tall mirrors, extremely tall ceiling, and certainly very swank all around. Beautiful bar area with white light illuminated shelves, and an open and spacious seating arrangement made for a very decidedly favorable visual assault. Drink Selection: 3 out of 5 The list of signature drinks did not disappoint, nor did the extensive selection of high end libations. While I understand that a place like this doesn't necessarily cater to beer drinkers, offering beers that I could get at Chili's (more or less by 2 selections) doesn't speak to me, especially when they're 10 or 11 bucks. More on this.... Pricing: 1 out of 5 Yikes. I get it - it's the Four Seasons, and it's New York, and it's a feeling of swank that is correlated to how much it burns a hole in your pocket, but 24 dollars for a martini and 11$ for a bottle of Bud Light is...ridiculous. Not as ridiculous as say, having the 55$ we spent on cocktails being stolen by street youths in a different reality - but at least maybe the street youths would use the 55$ and buy several cases of Blatz beer. I used to work at the GM building and frequented The Bar a lot in my 20's. This was the place to go after work and unwind. The Four Seasons hotel is beautiful and The Bar was merely a block away so this was the place to be. Oh, and yes this was also a PRIME pick-up scene as well (you know, the older suited up "gentleman" trying desperately to score with a young twenty something kinda scene) and I'm sure it still is. On thursdays and Friday nights, The Bar can get REALLY crowded quick. The Bar is a must try at least once! I love this place because it brings back memories of a "sex in the city" kinda life, but the service can be up and down (the host or hostess can be snooty), it gets crowded and sceney, and the drinks can be a toss up. read more

Had afternoon tea here last Sat. It was pricey at $50 for a pot of tea and 6 savory (or sweet) The presentation, the quality of food, and excellent service almost made it worth it.? We sat on the sofas/lounge chairs and were never rushed. Had a good experience but not sure I've ever go back since there are better places to go for afternoon tea in the city. One would expect expensive state of the art cocktails to go along with it, but one would be wrong. I ordered a craft Tequila Apricot concoction that tasted like tequila mixed with some bottled margarita mix you would find in a grocery store, I kid you not. A good craft drink should be unexpected and something new on the palette, well this was unexpected in that it was so disappointing. The lobby lounges at the Four Seasons Hotels have long been my favorite places to unwind. Over the past few years, they have gone through some changes. The "Ty" lounge is on the west side of the lobby. While prices for food and drink are very high, they are inline with what you'd find at any other top hotel. The service is very attentive, and the setting is also stunning, so it makes for a great experience. Pick a comfortable seat and you are good to go! I recommend the chocolate mousse cake - it has a hint of orange in it that makes it sublime! read more
