The store has spa stuff and lots of gift items for those who love to cook and entertain. It's a relaxing ambiance and the whole downtown area is a great place to sip and shop with lots of great gift opportunities as well as great ways to relax and treat yourself. Not as filling as the burrata, but still great. Vitello Parmigiana: Like chicken parm, but much fancier. Apparently the veal is from Pennsylvania. It was super tender, maybe even more so than chicken. Thin and pounded with a nice breading, loved all the cheese. Spaghetti Bolognese: Got the upgrade on the Vitello Parmigiana, where this pasta replaced a plainer pasta. Love that the spaghetti was fresh and tender. The bolognese was meaty. Stepping inside you'll find a nice market with many different products such as produce, a small salad bar, olive bar, groceries and drinks as well as a deli. Everything looked really good quality. We chose two Tuscan veggie sandwiches which were already prepared in the deli case and looked incredible. The helpful deli counter employee recommended that they were best heated up and offered to do so while we looked around. Soon our sandwiches were warm and off we went. The sandwich was delicious. Absolutely a delight to the senses. Visually it was fresh and vibrant. The layers were impressive. The taste, amazing. The olive tapenade, pesto, greens and veggies were delicious. At one point my girlfriend and I were walking from the outside courtyard where the dinner was taking place toward the inside of the restaurant, innocently looking for the restrooms. Some employee with a beard, without saying a word, aggressively steps right in front of us to block our path, as if we we were two homeless people trying to walk in off the street. Doesn't ask "can I help you find something"? or do anything that a cordial person in the restaurant business would do. He just stares at us with a stupid smirk on his face. Seriously, clown? After a couple of awkward seconds, I ask where the bathrooms are and he finally points them out to us. What's worse, at the end of the night, my niece was leaving with her husband when another female staff member rudely told them they couldn't exit directly out the parking lot (even though it was the same entrance where people came in at beginning of the party) and actually grabbed my niece's arm. My niece told her "don't touch me." This staff person then went inside the restaurant and my niece heard the employee screaming in anger. Incredible that this is how their people treat their customers during a huge event. The owner should be completely embarrassed by their employees' unprofessional and rude behavior. They might want to get their employees some anger management training or better yet hire new ones that have experience in the hospitality industry. Until then, pretty sure we can get good meatballs and lasagna some place else that doesn't treat paying customers like garbage.

The girls that helped us out were both friendly but we ended up asking for the Happy Hour menu 3 times before we actually got one. We decided to split the Happy Hour Pepperoni pizza bites and Bucatini Amatriciana. The pizza was a good portion, especially for the $8 price tag but the portion size on the pasta was a little small. The pizza and past were both very good but the pork on the pasta was mostly just big chunks of fat. I thought they were pieces of artichoke hearts at first. The best thing about our experience was Jesus. I believe he is the bar manager here. He happened to be standing off to the side of the bar when he heard me ask the bartender a question about the Carajillo Old Fashioned. I like coffee drinks, even though I don't drink coffee, but I find the Carajillo a bit one note. He explained about the layer of flavors in the drink and it convinced me to give it a try. It was indeed good. Then I noticed a bottle of Suze amaro at the end of the bar and I mentioned how I had heard about this Amaro and always wanted to try it. I asked Jesus to come up with a drink using Suze and he ended up making a kind of Suze French 75 that was very interesting. Overall great experience but Jesus was what made it really special.

The hostess said we could pick our table and she would follow us with menus, which she did. Water and glasses were delivered, I think by the hostess immediately. Then we waited.... For at least 10 minutes. Then another two people were seated next to us. They were given water and menus and we all waited for a server to come by to ask for our drink order at least and maybe appetizers. After another 10 minutes I got up to ask the nearest employee if there was a waiter assigned to our table. That person happened to be one of the bartenders who was standing near the host table. He said he would take our order. He did not seem happy he would need to do that as it was not his area, but he did. The waiter is the only reason this review gets two stars instead of one star. I would give zero if I could, but the waiter did his best and ended up taking over that whole inside section of the restaurant. By the end of the meal he mentioned a worker had called in sick, which I think must be why nobody had our section? I have to say that the entire meal we watched a few other employees just standing around doing nothing, maybe shuffling silverware around or wiping counters down. Half the time they were just talking between themselves as we look around trying to make eye contact to get a workers attention that we need something. This was especially obvious to us during the twenty minutes we waited for somebody to come take our drink order. These employees were no more than 15 feet from us. So after the waiter took our drink order, he took the drink order for the two people who were seated next to us that had arrived 10 minutes after us. They received their drinks first. Ours' came shortly after. They were just fair. I usually order two drinks, but my margarita was just not even good enough for me to finish so I only ordered one. We ordered a Caesar salad which was fine. And a lasagna. My wife and I were sharing. The lasagna was luke warm with a cold spot in the middle. So it clearly wasn't freshly baked, rather it had been heated up in a microwave, just not enough. It tasted fine, but was nothing to write home about. The restaurant seems very poorly managed with mostly untrained staff. The restaurant won't last long if this is normal. We won't be back. My suggestion would be hire a new manger, completely revamp and retrain all staff with a focus on consistent customer service and food quality. General rules of thumb for great restaurants- 1. Waiter stops by to greet the customer and take a drink order about a minute after being seated and drinks come out within 5 minutes. This was not done. 2. Waiter stops by every 5-7 minimum to check if you need anything like drinks or more food. 3. At Italian restaurant, as food is served ask the customer if they would like fresh ground pepper, grated Parmesan or Romano cheese, or maybe red pepper flakes. 4. After food is placed, the waiter checks in after 2 minutes to ask how everything tastes. If there are complaints the waiter should be eager to address them. After the shift, whatever the problem is should be addressed with the kitchen staff and manager and a plan for how to improve so that this doesn't happen again should be put in place. Do these things and a restaurant is well on its way to being full and profitable.

The menu offered a variety of hot and cold sandwiches. I ordered the "Grilled Chicken Pesto sandwich", off the FAVORITES sandwiches menu. It includes a hearty combo of grilled chicken breast, red bell peppers, caramelized onions, provolone cheese, lettuce and tomato on a focaccia roll. WOW - the combination of high-quality ingredients made this one of the BEST sandwiches I have ever had!! Well done Summer! Pepper's has that authentic neighborhood feel that's becoming harder to find. You can tell many of the customers are regulars, and after one visit, it's easy to understand why.
