The food is soo good, its like real viet food 100% recommended i usually get the pork & spring roll and vegetables on vermicelli noodles

I don't care for 19th street and 13th street pho restaurant. The one on 19th street is closer to where I currently live, but I still couldn't get pass the cocky attitude of the young restaurant owner... the fat guy with glasses in blue suit. (you can refer to my older reviews on that place) ANYWAY, service kind of makes or breaks it for me, good food or not. I have ordered food from U bar and restaurant multiple times. The first few times, it was unusually slower for me. I guess when I ordered like 3 different orders today, they were quick! When picking up like 3 uber pick up orders (yes I exploited the $25 promotion with 3 devices). They were very attentive too and sincerely thanked me for the business. That's nice and humble. I ordered fishball noodle and beef with noodles and lots of summer rolls and an order of spring roll. Everything was great. However, I'd recommend eating the spring roll on the spot... it wasn't soggy, but of course it's best eaten when it's just fried. Peanut sauce was great. The soup was very flavorful.... It is a nice place... Great quality, great quantity, what can go wrong? A bad spot. That spot wasn't always the best for restaurants. It used to be a Malaysian spot and then was it... taco/bar? Lunch today. First time at this restaurant. Worst Vietnamese food ever. Shrimp roll had no basil, chives, mint, cilantro. Three halves of a small shrimp, rice noodles, and lots of iceberg lettuce. Peanut sauce was a glutinous, bland sauce as if they doctored it up with cornstarch. It had no fish sauce or hoisin sauce flavor to it, had no flavor at all. The grilled chicken bun was horrible. The chicken again was bland. There was no fish sauce, vinegar, lemongrass, seasoning, nothing. Chicken was as white as the rice noodles. Rice noodles was another horror. It still had the flour-y, mothball smell you get from dried noodles that hadn't been rinsed properly. I left most of the noodles in the bowl. None of the waitstaff spoke Chinese or Vietnamese. Never again. There's a better, traditional Vietnamese a few blocks up. Even Hanco, the chain, tasted better. read more

So we stopped in Friday night, my husband was craving pho and this was the first place we ran into. The service was ok although there was a language barrier with some of the staff we managed to communicate. My son loved the pork chops my husband thought the pho was meh, I don't know how else to describe it but that's what he said. I had the beef cubes and that was also bland. The reason for the 2 star review was when we were leaving. I tipped the server ahead of time with payment. When the credit card slip came back I signed it and wrote cash, an Asian lady that seemed to be the manager rushed over and grabbed it immediately. My husband saw her run to the server looking for the tip. Idk about you but I've never dined in a restaurant we're what seemed to be the manager is the one running to the table looking for the tip that didn't belong to them. Anyway it was just a weird encounter idk if she thought we didn't tip or something but she seemed to have gotten a little nasty when she didn't see the cash in the book. She even ran over to the server and asked him about the tip I left. But if she's dying to know mam I left 20% . I managed and worked at many Restaurants and I never open the check booklets of my servers. Anyway there's plenty of other Vietnamese restaurants with more flavor in the area. Today, 09/08/2019, is my first day coming to this restaurant. The environment is very warm and welcome, it isn't your typical restaurant that the light is muchore dimmer. The food is very tasty, the spring is not overly fried and the skin on it isn't as thick as normal spring roll you get from other Vietnamese restaurant. I ordered the chicken lemongrass, the spice isn't heavy and the chicken was a little bit dried that because I think they boil the chicken first before putting on the place. Which make the chicken taste natural and not like your typical Chinese food restaurant where the chicken has been frozen. The rice is perfectly made, overall the dish still taste good. I do recommend to come here and give it try. This restaurant is still brand new. I hope this place get a successful business as well as keep the same chief. read more

We were so happy when we realized that this wonderful gem of a restaurant was open for outdoor dining. We had been eating there faithfully before the pandemic. This restaurant's team is absolutely professional, courteous and concerned with making your dining experience as delicious and delightful as possible. Hand sanitizer on every table! U-bar is a spacious, modern, clean Viet restaurant serving up food as authentic as its two counterparts blocks away. On a weekday afternoon, the restaurant was largely empty, and I was free to admire the plant decor and the dessert case displaying my favorite rainbow ice drink with red bean. My dad and I perused the menu to find that the prices were pretty standard. We both ordered #41, spring rolls with pork chop on a bed of vermicelli. The portion was adequate for my dad and more than enough for me. The pork chop was juicy and well marinated, perhaps a touch too salty, but appreciated when paired with the vermicelli dressed with sweet and sour sauce. The crispy spring rolls give the taste buds a milder taste but still pack enough flavor to pair with the vermicelli. In between bites of meat, I munched on the cucumber strips and carrots. I was tempted to try one of their dessert drinks or the chocolate flan cake, but my stomach protested. There's always next time! read more

We ordered two viet sandwiches for takeout which should be the easiest thing ever right? Wrong. It took over 30 minutes of waiting for them to prepare our sandwiches. The pate was nonexistent- we ended up smearing mayonnaise onto our sandwiches at home because it was THAT DRY. And if you thought Subways was cheap with their meat this restaurant has got them beat. Our sandwiches were 96% bread, 3.5% meat and 0.5% pate and that's being generous with the percentages. read more

AMAZING!!!!! I have 2 babies and was unable to pickup the delicious food, but the friendly staff delivered the food! I have lived in Brooklyn for all of my adult life and recently moved. This was the only restaurant in the Ave U area with outdoor seating. I think they pretty much got all the locals' going out money for the summer. As of this review, they took away the outdoor seating and do indoor dining. The tables are spaced out, they check temperature, and workers wear masks. They might even have some sort of ventilation but I will check next visit. I had the beef cubes with salad, spring rolls, and summer rolls. They were good. With limited options to eat at, I'm supporting this business and I recommend to give this place a try at least. read more

Stopped by tonight at 9:30pm and was served quickly. Hot and fresh pho, spring rolls, and rice (not pictured oops). They were nice enough to give fans and a slice of cake for dessert. Definitely will be coming back. read more

I might be a bit biased due to the fact that I live nearby and the fact that UBAR is a new business, but I love this restaurant! It opened up a few months before COVID-19 shut everything down, but even up until March was pretty slow. I try ordering from there whenever I can, and honestly, their food is amazing and has a good price! I usually get the classic #1, but their spring rolls and pork chop rice are also amazing dishes. Their service is pretty fast, as I can usually get my order within 5-10 minutes of calling in. The staff are super nice too! read more

We've now come here three times and have enjoyed ourselves each time. The plating and portions are very fair for the prices. Taste is on point for the most part and its brightly lit and spacious compared to other traditional Viet restaurants. The timeliness of the food could improve but overall a solid choice for the area. We tried the pho, which was tasty but not enough depth in the soup. We had the pork chop over rice and that was decent as well. Beef cubes over rice were not seasoned enough. Spring rolls were delicious. The milk tea could use some improvement. We had it twice and both times it was heavily sweetened, and tasted of watered down milk. No tea flavor whatsoever. I have yet to dine in and only ordered to go. The food is as expected but the portions is disappointing. The decor is great but I feel that's what you're paying for as this is the most expensive Vietnamese restaurant compared to the other 2 on Avenue U. I have not seen an Asian worker as they are all Hispanic but their Vietnamese is on point. Last time we visited, they were still awaiting their liquor license to finally serve hard liquor. read more

One thing for sure you must double check your bill before paying , found it a few times being charged a bit extra and had a few friends said the same thing. I used a GrubHub gift certificate to buy my sister and myself dinner on the New Year's weekend. We ordered Summer rolls, shrimp with mixed vegetables dish, lemon grass chicken and calamari. The peanut sauce served with the summer rolls was excellent, Calamari was crispy and sublime, the lemongrass chicken incredibly flavorful. The delivery came very fast.There wasn't anything that wasn't outstanding. If the flavors are this good and the food is so amazing with delivery I can't even imagine what it would be like to eat in. The chicken chop on rice was fresh, juicy and tender. Always gets disappointed with other Pho restaurant that can't even get this basic dish right. We also had the soup noodle and it was better than average. The service was great. Made the order by phone and was ready for pickup when we got there around 10 minutes later. This place is clean and has really great service. I enjoyed their grilled pork chop pho and thai iced tea. The broth was light, but a bit of hoisin sauce contributed nice depth and acidity. I had the chops sliced, but they were actually tender enough to bite through with ease. The chili sauce - not Sriracha - provided a pleasing heat. Their portions were generous and the prices were so worth it. Last, but not least, their thai iced tea is the bomb-dot-com. I would not recommend this restaurant if you have already eaten in another Vietnamese restaurant. From the outside, it looks very promising. It has a nice design on the inside, spacious, and diverse with the type of customers present. Although once inside, the entire table flips. To my understanding, I was greeted by the manager, which was a nice touch. It's not every day where you see the manager on the field actually participating in many of these Asian cuisines. I am pretty inexperienced with Vietnamese food. The only thing I knew was the beef rice noodles. So I thought to explore what was on the menu. After a few minutes, the manager as a waiter came by to see how we were doing. I asked for some more time to explore. Short moment after, he was back with "are you ready?" That was what, not even two minutes? I asked again for more time. The pattern continues and there he is back again, though not very patient this time. He gave me a little 'hint': "they're all the same. Two is larger, and six is fully cooked." Becoming impatient myself as he stands to the side waiting for my partner and I, so I ordered a beef rice noodle, a Vietnamese springroll, and a Vietnamese style sandwich. In about two minutes, the rice noodle for my partner came. Fast, I thought, too fast. But that was only that. The rest of the order never came. My partner is a slow eater. I would've finished that bowl in five minutes, she took at least fifteen fiddling slowly waiting for the rest of the order, so I don't have to sit there and admire her eating. When she was about done, I asked the staff regarding the rest of the order. He looked into it. After another ten or so minutes, I gave up. I asked for the bill. The bill included the order, but it was never made apparently. Of course I only inferred after seeing the manager waiter staff placing an order at that moment. You know what? I'm done. Such poor management on such a simple order. It will bound to happen again, and I'm not taking that risk. Plus, the rice noodle tasted exactly the same as the other Vietnamese cuisines in the area. There are options elsewhere. The manager didn't need me to pay for the meal. That's the least he could do. Although, you can tell by his attitude and tone when he said that statement as if it was my fault to blame for the missing order. I left a tip nonetheless, but I will never return here. read more

Place is new, pretty clean and spacious. We had the #1 Pho and the Caramel Salmon Casserole. Pho came in a big bowl with a good amount of meat, great quality but as other reviews have mentioned, the soup base is pretty lackluster. It didn't have that meat savory taste that you normally expect so majority of the flavor will be the lime/mint you add in. Casserole was absolutely delicious, highly recommend though portions seems on the smaller side. Only real issue I had with this dish is there are raw onions on the top of this dish (dish already has cooked/caramelized onions. Why. Why would you do this ever :[. You can't even soak it in the caramel/soy sauce because the flavor is so intense it just cuts through and then you can't distinguish them from the other onions which are cooked and soaked in. Owners please remove this part from the dish and it will be perfect! read more
