My friends surprised my fiancé and me with a birthday trip here to finally try the crepe cake because I've been wanting it forever, and it was such a fun experience. We all got the Thai tea crepe cake and it was so good. Definitely lived up to the hype. I also got the Thai tea, which was really good too. What made it even better was that one of my friends had secretly asked the staff if they could just bring our slices out with birthday candles, but they ended up going all out. They had the staff singing and played birthday music through the speakers. It was hilarious, unexpected, and honestly really sweet. It's a little pricey, but worth it for both the quality and the experience. There's plenty of indoor seating, the whole place has a really cool vibe inside, and we had such a great time. Definitely will be coming back :)
One of my go-to late night dessert spots in Berkeley. I really like coming here with friends when we want something sweet after dinner because the portions are pretty big and perfect for sharing. Their bingsu is honestly one of my favorites here it's shaved ice and it's super fluffy and creamy without feeling overly heavy. The presentation is also really cute and the desserts always come out looking so good. The service was fine overall The only thing I wasn't the biggest fan of was the Thai tea lava toast. The flavor and sauce were good, but the toast itself was a little on the drier side and I wish it tasted a bit fresher. Overall though it's still one of my favorite late night dessert spots in the area.
My first visit and it was love at first bite. We stopped in toward the end of the day, so the wait was minimal which is always a win. The Mango Sticky Rice Bingsu easily earns top marks. A beautifully layered bowl of Korean snow ice topped with fresh mango, house-made crumble, sticky rice, mango purée, and a drizzle of condensed milk. The textures and flavors come together effortlessly; so light, refreshing, and not overly sweet. Perfect for sharing, though you may not want to. The double fromage lychee cheesecake was pure bliss. Delicate, airy, and luxuriously creamy with a subtle lychee finish that keeps it feeling fresh. It strikes that rare balance of being rich without heaviness. Easily one of the better cheesecakes I've had in a while. Definitely a spot worth returning to.
My friends and I returned to U:Dessert Story after a couple of years since our last visit, and this time around somehow topped our last experience. We arrived late after dinner, but the cafe was still packed around 8 PM. We were fortunately able to be seated right away. We were celebrating a birthday, so we ordered a few different desserts to try - mango sticky rice bingsu, Japanese yuzu cheesecake, and chocolate truffle cake - with a couple of sparklers to mark the occasion. Minutes after we had placed our order, the server brought out our treats with much fanfare and a celebratory birthday song - and the whole restaurant joined in the singing and clapping. I've tried the mango sticky rice bingsu before - it was as tasty and refreshing as I remembered it. While decadent, the yuzu cheesecake was pleasantly tart and refreshing and paired well with the matcha ice cream. I tried a bite of the chocolate truffle cake - it was super decadent. The cafe continued to stay packed throughout the evening - the line even stretched out the door as we were leaving. I'm sure we'll be back to celebrate the next birthday soon.
Visited around 7pm on a Sunday evening. There's only street parking so I had to circle the block a few times to find a spot. Unfortunately that's pretty normal in Berkeley but if you're on foot, the location is pretty great! Once inside, we were quickly given a table and ordered through the QR code. There was a good variety of Asian inspired crepe cakes, bingsu options, and drinks! I was torn between ordering a dessert or a drink and opted for the Matcha chocolate lava cake ($16) since I wasn't planning on consuming everything and wasn't sure whether a drink could be packed to go. The atmosphere was pretty relaxing. A lot of tables were filled and the decor was welcoming. There seemed to be a lot of people doing pick up orders as well. It took about 15-20 minutes for my dessert to arrive which felt a bit long but it wasn't a huge issue. The presentation of the food was lovely and I was happy that the taste was great as well. Cutting into the cake released a surprise stream of both molten chocolate and matcha. I had thought it would only be chocolate and the addition of the matcha cut through the sweetness of the molten chocolate. The matcha taste was not gritty or bitter. The cake was warm, moist, and not overly sweet. I liked the inclusion of the strawberries as a palette cleanser. The only drawback is that the matcha ice cream itself was just sweet and lacked any matcha flavor. Overall, I would return! The food options are enticing and the atmosphere was great. We were there for about an hour and we never felt pressured to hurry up and leave. Many of the surrounding tables were there for a while as well. It's a great place to catch up with friends while enjoying a bite after dinner. I hope to try the Oolong Lychee float in the future.
As someone who loves salted egg yolk, udessert is the only place who has created such a nice, unique salted egg yolk custard sauce with buttered toast. I love this dessert so much and I always crave it. The last time I came here I cried tears from how good it was LMAO Service was good. They serve the food pretty quickly for being so busy at night Ambiance is cute! Good spot for dates, family, and friends
OK, waaaay better in the restaurant. Super good. Loved everything we got. We had the pandan crepe cake, the salted egg yolk toast, the mango sticky rice bingsoo and the milk tea. The milk tea was the weakest thing, but overall everything was good and the restaurant had a nice vibe. The service was really fast and it was easy to order with the tablet. Would definitely go again.
I came here for dessert at the end of a date. The music and lighting and ambiance inside created a fun party vibe, which I very much enjoyed. The service was fast and the food was good! Once seated, we ordered through scanning the QR code and using the website portal for our table. I like that method especially when I can order fancy boba-like drinks that need me to specify sweetness level, ice level, any milk substitutes, etc. it's a very convenient way to order. We ordered the Ube and Mango snows, which were big enough for us to share, but we ordered one each because we wanted to be over the top. I think, in the future, we will just split one snow between two people. Ordering one a pop was also quite pricy. Two snows and two fancy drinks ran up a relatively high bill for a desert order; I definitely consider this place ti be on the pricier side. But that what you get with good location and ambiance. I highly recommend the tiramisu latte! It totally tasted and looked like tiramisu. It was a really fun drink.
Our dessert story, after having ramen from across the street, was very random. We actually wanted gelato but opted for U:Dessert Story. So, I guess didn't really have any expectations other than to just have a sweet treat. We were pleasantly surprised. You order from a QR code, but pay with the server. Only 1 server during our visit, and very busy. I know we're in the Bay Area, but these prices at U:Dessert Story are very high. Looking at the menu, I was just wondering how they're justifying these prices. Now, that said, the quality and how these desserts were crafted are very good. Thought can sense that (from the two we ordered), there was thought put into the dishes to make them work. The ingredients felt like they were well sourced, and what we ordered were very tasty. And as to the two we ordered, one was worth its price (barely), the other probably not. We ordered the Strawberry Bingsoo. I've had many bingsoos before, most were just okay. This one took me on another level of bingsoo that I haven't experienced. This was simply that good. The shaved ice could have been finer, but I think if it was, the toppings wouldn't have held up as well. Hints of yogurt and almond really makes this dish. The strawberry bingsoo, at $16, it was just worth its price. We also ordered the Oreo croffle. Well made. Ingredients came together with the toppings. Very enjoyable, but at $9 each, this one I didn't feel like was worth the price. Street parking may be tricky. Free on Sundays.
I LOVE THIS PLACE. I always go here with my friends and family for dessert. The tables are spaced out and it is always busy. However, seating is fast. Service is so good, they constantly check on you no matter how busy it is. I love the decor and it is a great place for a little girls day or even a date! All the desserts are the perfect amount of sweetness. I suggest the bingsu or the toast, those are my absolute favorite. I have yet to try the drinks but they look sooo good. 10/10 recommend coming here.

Only thing stopping this from being a 5 star review is that it's on the pricier side and they have certain charges for larger parties of 5 or 6+. We came in on a Saturday night and there was a short wait to get seated. We ordered: -strawberry croffle -pandan coconut crepe cake -lychee cheesecake -choco strawberry smoothie -ube milk tea. Our cakes and milk tea came out like 10 minutes before the smoothie and croffle which was awkward. I wish it all came out at the same time. I enjoyed the desserts, but the drinks were not good for the price. We all agreed the ube milk tea did not taste like ube at all, even after they remade it it wasn't good and tasted like regular milk tea. The smoothie was too sweet. The interior was nice and our servers were nice however I don't think I would come back. read more

Curious to try this dessert place since it always looked packed when we walk by. It was one busy Saturday night but we got seated right away. The place was a bit cramped and tables were closer than desired that you're within earshot of other people's conversations. They have an extensive menu. We went for the Volano Bingsu, U's signature cake sampler, and the strawberry smoothie. Presentation was lovely but the taste was unfortunately mediocre. A bit pricey as well. I did enjoy the young coconut pandan crepe cake. If you're a fan of a robust banana flavor... the Hojicha Banoffee Pie and Volano Bingsu would be ones to enjoy. read more

U Dessert Story ? More like, U Dessert Sucks! Sorry, I have never been more disappointed, or felt more scammed, than after buying from here. For the price at which they sell their things, you would think that the portion sizes would be bigger, or that the quality would be higher. Think again. I ordered the Croffle Party from here, as everything else was insanely expensive and I have already found better spots for things like their fried chicken or drinks. I remember once ordering a croffle for the first time from a different place, and remembered that they were of a good size, so I decided to buy them here. Although they came out very fast, the size of them is something to laugh at! 26 dollars for 3 child size, could fit in the palm of my small hand, croffles!! I had to laugh while also feeling pretty offended! It was insane to me. 3 of them fit into one medium sized box, whereas in another place I got croffles of a cheaper price, there was only one big one that could fit into a box of the same size... The taste itself was below par than what I tried at a different place as well. How can you be more expensive and offer such mediocrity at the same time ? No wonder the place was empty! No one wants to over pay for food like this... save yourself the time and money by looking elsewhere. read more

I went with a group of 5 people and we were seated very quickly. It was a very cozy and relaxing environment with nice decor! We ordered through a qr code online service and didn't wait very long before getting our order. We got the Hojicha Bingsoo and the Strawberry croffle with vanilla ice cream added on. The bingsoo was very sweet and came with boba and brownie bites. Personally, I wouldn't get this again since it was too sweet for my taste but it still tasted very good and refreshing! I really enjoyed the strawberry croffle, and the add on of vanilla ice cream really hit the spot! I would definitely come here again, but do be warned that there is an auto-gratuity fee for parties of 5+! read more

#ThisFeedsMySoul Millionaire's Candy® Bingsu This is the perfect sweet, savory salty blend. It hits all the taste buds. Loved that the snow ice, melts in your mouth so smoothly. The outside is covered with a spicy honey glaze, which the cool of the snow ice compliments the heat well. The whipped cream had sea salt in it giving the tried & true topping a nice flare. I loved the surprise bits of bacon as you get to the bottom of the bowl. You can definitely share this, if you want. Every bite danced on my taste buds and was a sensory pleaser. DOUBLE FROMAGE LYCHEE CHEESECAKE This was my favorite! Smooth cheesecake with lychee, light airy and delicious. Not overly sweet, which was a plus. I wish the slice was bigger! Mango Sticky Rice Bingsu Korean snow ice, the presentation was awesome! Fresh mango and the condensed milk topping gave it the perfect amount of sweet. I've been to the SF location a few times but wanted to try this one in Berkeley! Went around lunch time so it was pretty empty, but this location is definitely more spacious. The decorations were cute too. The volcano bingsoo was good as usual, and the server even told me to get my video ready for the smoke effect with liquid nitrogen. Tried the 8 piece takoyaki for the first time and it was pretty good, there were two small pieces of octopus in each. The thai tea lava toast was pretty, and tasted pretty good in the beginning, but by the end it was way too sweet and hard to finish the rest. The little bits of fruit in the side helped tho. Probably would order a different toast next time but still good! read more

Came here on a Sunday afternoon and waited about 5 minutes before getting a table. The inside is on the smaller side but cutely decorated. As for parking, since this cafe/restaurant is on a main road in Berkeley, finding street parking may be a little hard so I recommend finding parking on the side streets in the neighborhood. Was able to find ample parking there. We ordered the Coconut Pandan Crepe Cake slice, Ube Mochi Waffle, and the Strawberry Croffle. Everything came out promptly. The Coconut Pandan had beautifully structured layers that were not too sweet. I have had crepe layer cake/slices before so I appreciate that this slice did not fall apart or wasn't too soft which is what we enjoyed. We could taste the fresh coconut shavings on top and the pandan flavor showed through without being overpowering. Just the right amount of sweetness for us. The Ube Mochi waffle was good but not anything special in my opinion. It was topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, boba, fruit, and some syrup sauce. Again it was good and what it claims to be but nothing special. The last is the strawberry croffle which was our absolute favorite!!! The croffle has this delicious crystalized crust which gives it a nice crunch on the outside and paired well with the butteriness of the croffle in general. It was topped with whipped cream and strawberries. Definitely will get this again! Overall, I love that there is a desert cafe in the area that has items that aren't overly sweet and have Asian-inspired flavors. Definitely will be coming back with more friends and family. read more

A go to shaved ice spot for years. We stopped by for a dessert recently. We got the young coconut pandan crepe cake and it was delicious!! Such a great choice. For anyone that doesn't love coconut, I would avoid but for the coconut lover this is heaven. If you love Vietnamese desserts this is for you. The elegance and delicacy of the crepe layers and the crème in between is wonderful. The crème gives off the chantilly vibe. The rosemary was a nice touch. I sprinkled the rosemary leaves on top and added another dimension to the cake. The pandan flavor came through so well! We finished this without a hitch! Would definitely get this again. read more

I used to come here for dessert all the time in college, and I'm not sure if the prices have gone up or that I always came in a group that split the bill before, but man some of these desserts are just way too expensive for what you get. The desserts are cute and tasty, but almost $30 for a bingsoo?? That doesn't make sense to me. These desserts are very Instagram-worthy. We've gotten the Chocolate Lava Bingsoo that comes with dry ice and is quite a spectacle. When friends come out of state to visit, my go-to is the Mango Sticky Rice Bingsoo - maybe enough for 2-3 people to enjoy a reasonable portion of the dessert. Love this please for a sweet bit and their drinks. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Environment is nice, quick in and out paste. Highly recommend their Ube Shave Ice. (It doesn't say on the mobile menu but it does come with boba and condensed milk. Their Oak March Lavender was such a treat and I love very sip of it. Came on a Sunday evening after eating dinner in the area. Surprisingly, there weren't many dessert shops open late, so U:Dessert was pretty packed. Waited about ~10 minutes for a table for 6. They have a separate line if you want to do take-out only. We ordered three desserts to share amongst us (FYI they have a $50 minimum for large groups). Honey Brick Toast 2/5 - I love toast boxes and it's hard to get it right! The outside layers were pretty hard and dry. Also lacked fruit IMO. Mango Sticky Rice Bingsu 3/5 - My favorite out of the things we ordered! It's basically mango bingsu (the sticky rice is on the side). Definitely a shareable portion and came with lots of mango! Warabi Mochi 3/5 - I was surprised by how much I liked the consistency of their mochi! Tasted very fresh. FYI it's a pretty big ball of mochi, so would def recommend sharing this too. read more

Desserts are pretty good! Would recommend if you have a sweet tooth. I had seen a lot of photos of U: Dessert on Instagram and knew I had to visit. My family came to celebrate a birthday on a weekday night. It was relatively busy. We waited a few minutes to be seated. The ambiance is really cute and trendy with good music! Great for date night. When is comes to the desserts, it's pricey. I also want to caution about the menu: it is very overwhelming!! Everything is online and my family and I spent a solid 20 min scrolling through the menu. It would have been nice to have a print menu with pictures. We ordered the 2 dessert and 2 drinks set (not sure if they still offer this). Our server expressed they were new, and turns out that we weren't allowed to order this set since there were 3 people in our party. Thankfully they let us continue with the order. We did have a wrong dish come out, I think due to the dishes that have very similar names. We ordered: * Thai Tea Crepe cake (7/10) - nice and light, but kind of dry * Old School Milo cheese Drink (7/10) - very sweet, the top foam and Oreos were good. We just all around didn't enjoy our experience here. Some of the staff are friendly, and some are just really not nice. We ordered $90 worth of desserts for take out and walked in at our pickup time and some of the staff just appeared plain irritated by our very existence. Just know that even if it's raining and the store is empty, you must wait for your order outside. Some of the staff mask, some do not. I don't mind either way. 3 pieces of cake and 3 drinks were $90. The price is steep and the portions are super, super tiny. The biggest disappointment were the drinks. We ordered 3 cold drinks with boba and our drinks were melted and soggy from the HOT boba they put in. The boba were all soggy too and seemed to still be cooking in our drinks. The yuzu cake was not lemony enough. The coconut matcha cake was really not matcha at all aside from color. The Oreo croffle was pretty good. read more

I stopped by here late one weekday evening after dinner nearby at Tane. The place was pretty empty except for two other parties. There's a QR code you can scan for the online photo-less menu, or you can ask for physical menus with photos. Between my party of four, we ended up getting three different desserts. There's a dessert set you can order if you intend on ordering multiple desserts that saves you a few dollars compare to ordering each dessert separately. If it's not apparent from the menu and photos, this place caters towards the Asian palette in flavor and sweetness - nothing is too sweet. I thoroughly enjoyed the flavors of the banana hojicha pie slice we ordered. On the other hand, there could be improvements to the bingsoo, such as less ice and more topping. Though presentation of the bingsoo was great, it was not very practical to eat without making a massive mess on the table. I didn't like that sharing bowls are not available - only plates are, upon requests. As you can imagine, eating shaved snow off of a plate is a pretty absurd thing to do.... Came back for some of their new items since we have family in town. I think we blew their minds with the meal we had. - Spicy Thai Ramyeon: new item and this is a yes - yes - yes all the time. The broth is to die for (tomyum is my weakness) and it has a bit of Korean touch with the raw eggs on top serving on a gas stove to keep the food warm and cook the eggs. I'd have this everyday if I could. - Takoyaki: as usual, but nice presentation. You can choose how much you want for your order. We had 8 or 4 people and think it's perfect amount for appetizers. - Fried Chicken wings: Korean fried chicken but served wings only. Love and love this with the crispy texture and well seasoned. - Croffle Party: highlight of the meal. I had it in SF location but it's the first time for the others. We all agreed that the salted egg yolk was the best, strawberry is second and Oreo is the third. They were all so good and super light. We came here around 2pm but didn't have to wait for long. Love this dessert place! Been wanting to try it ever since they first opened, but it was a bit out of my way. Today I happened to be in the area for a mommy and daughter date. Glad I got the chocolate matcha lava cake! It satisfied my matcha craving for sure! It pairs well with the matcha ice cream. The chocolate cake was very rich and does need the ice cream to help balance the flavor. The Thai tea crepe cake was also amazing. Cute spot for first date but also kinda pricey. If you don't live in the area, you do have to find street parking, but I was able to find a spot fast. read more

Came here on a Friday night and was seated fast. I think we got lucky because after us there was a line out the door! We were overwhelmed by the selection of desserts but I had my eye on the mango sticky rice bingsu. I have tried mango bingsu at other restaurants in the past, but they simply don't compare! The portion size was huge which my boyfriend and I struggled to finish between the two of us. The toppings were so delicious: Mango purée, condensed milk, and sticky rice. My only comment was the toppings were a bit small compared to the size of the bingsoo. About halfway through we had run out of toppings. The restaurant was cozy and cute and it was fun to see what desserts others had ordered. The service was good and fast. Overall, the dessert was really tasty and will definitely look forward to returning and trying more items on the menu. read more

Nestle in Berkeley is this lovely dessert restaurant that has tea, boba, coffee, sweets, and some finger foods. We ordered the value deal which gets us 6 sweets or savory dishes, plus 6 drinks. What a steal in my option for a large group. We tried the volcano bingsoo, pandan crepe, chocolate waffles, chicken n fries, mango sticky rice toast, and spicy out bingsoo. Everything was yummy and presentation of food was amazing. Drinks were ok.. it was more on the Milky side, but the desserts made up for it. Service was great, very attentive staff. read more

There's so much to choose from, but with a big group we ordered the value set, which comes with six deserts and six drinks. Pretty much with this option you get to try a little of everything. Out of all the dishes, my favorite was the mango sticky rice toast. The bread was sweet and the little cut up pieces of bread was crispy even with all of the cream, ice cream on top. It was a good balance making it sweet and savory. The chocolate was a bit overwhelming and the volcano and another piece of cake was a bit under flavored. Not bad dishes, but the mango had the perfect combination. As for the drinks, I think there was more milk than green tea flavor. I mostly tasted milk, so not too fond of the milk tea drinks. Otherwise, the service was great, they were fast, and super friendly! It was a great experience and had a lot of choices. read more

By far the best desserts I've had in my life. I'm a dessert person and I'm not exaggerating! The menu had so many amazing options that it was a hard choice to make. I'm going to be back several times after this. The first (my absolute favorite) was the double fromage lychee cheesecake an absolute delight. The flavor was out of this world and the portion was just right. It was soft, creamy and melted in my mouth. They served it with Lychee ice cream and I really wanted to ask if they sold pints of the ice cream for me to take home. Then we had the Volcano Bingsu. Just a note if you are a small party or don't want a lot to eat then just order this alone without anything else. It's huge and definitely a shared dessert. The Korean snow ice looked like micro white sprinkles and melts in your mouth like ice cream. The bend of the snow ice with crispy chocolate rice, banana pieces, cornflakes, and almonds was perfect. It was a different experience with each bite. We also got the Goma Dangho which is basically mochi with roasted powdered black sesame. I like mochi but this was like fresh mochi (kinda sticky) and was not my favorite. I wouldn't get this again. Lastly, we had a Mango Matcha Fresca which is a bubble tea. The boba was soft instead of chewy and just the right amount of sweetness to balance of the drink. They have a variety of drinks so I want to try some of their other bubble teas. The place has a very instagramable ambiance with a couch seat or a swing and great decor. It's small and usually will have a line unless you go as soon as they open. The servers are kind and sweet! There is street parking around the area. It's also walking from Downtown Berkeley BART. Fun fact: We loved this place so much that we traveled from Oakland the next day to have more! read more

The service and atmosphere here are great. It's a small store so space is cramped, but according to my boyfriend this would be a great first-date location. Incidentally, the couple sitting next to us were on their first date. The menu here has a lot of interesting things, all seemingly done well; we had a hard time selecting our meal. Nevertheless, the taste and quality of the food although good are just not worth the high price from my perspective. Spending 15 dollars for a slice of pie or cake seems out of my budget of what I'm willing to spend considering this dessert's flavors are not "blow me out of the water" good. read more

On a rainy Friday evening, this place was still packed. The food came out quickly after we ordered though. I agree with other reviews that the items are on the pricier side, but still delicious and makes for a good occasional, celebratory treat. The blue lychee drink comes with fun popping bubbles, and the thai toast was delicious and had fun textures, with a hollowed out interior filled with bite size bread pieces that are nicely toasted, and a warm decadent thai tea flavored sauce. overall a fun dessert place! read more
