The mango sticky rice bingsoo is my favorite!!! The mangoes were a bit sour this time but understandable since they're not in season. I also got to try the Thai tea crepe cake this time and just wow! It was delicious and fluffy. My large party came around 7 PM and didn't have to wait for a table - we were seated immediately. Friendly customer service + yummy dessert = perfect combination for a rainy afternoon. My girlfriend had a hankering for the chocolate pistachio bingsu so we are back for a return visit. She made a reservation (she thought) for this location but it turned out that it does not accept reservations. Nonetheless, the service staff kindly explained that and gave us a table nonetheless. After a very fulfilling dinner, dessert is needed to finish the evening. A short drive, we stopped here. Originally looking for a boba like drink, the cake menu looked very appealing. For to go order, you need to scan the QR code to retrieve the menu then order and pay. Ordering was relatively simple, paying was so tricky that we needed a wait person to assist us. The online method didn't permit entering our credit card info, hence the help. Ordered placed and took awhile for the packaging. I had the chocolate lava matcha cake. It had some strawberries fixed to the cake and the matcha is ice cream in a small container within the cake box. Knifing into the chocolate cake the lava flowed out as it should. The matcha ice cream gave the dessert a balance because the chocolate lava was very sweet that the matcha leveled it out. Overall I had enjoyed it as it wrapped up my dinner and evening. My favorite dessert place in the Bay. I used to go here at least once a week lol. It is a little pricey but the desserts are big, great quality, aesthetic, and super super tasty. It gets really crowded so suggest getting there earlier in the night. When you're seated, there's a QR code on the table for you to view the menu & order (although sometimes, you'll have to order through the waiter). Food doesn't take long to come out but sometimes if they're slammed, it might take a while. Favorite things are the Volcano Bingsu & Thai Tea Brick Toast. The bingsu is super fluffy, filled with bananas, brownies, oreos, & salted cream on top. The saltiness of the cream cuts the sweetness well. My friends and I agreed to just order the mango bingsoo next time. We didn't really understand the hype. For the Matcha Warabi Mochi (Limited), it was squishy. One of my friends described it as eating a steak fat. The picture showed them to be rolled into little balls, but we received one big FAT ball. I wouldn't recommend this dish. For the cheesecake, I liked the addition of a vial of honey that you could either squeeze onto the cake... or directly into your mouth! The desserts are delicious but the price point is high. Love the toppings at the top as well as they blend well to add more texture into it. Thai Tea Brick Toast (5/5): The toast blends with the thai tea flavor so well and it's absolutely scrumptious. The first time I ordered this I was mindblown. The lava sauce inside is creamy yet not too thick, and it layers on the crisp bread exterior like bread and butter as a dipping sauce. This is definitely a dense snack, so come with room in your tummy if you want to order this one. Mochi Waffle (3.5/5): Honestly didn't think this was that stand-out. It definitely hit the spot and the mochi texture was there, but I didn't see what was so special about the waffle. How I rate my stars: 1 - Yikes. Will never be coming back. We ordered two shaved ice, which were pretty large and too much dessert for 4 people! One would suffice. We are disappointed because the menu isn't very clear - each of the ice cream were $4 extra (and a very small scoop). The reason it's unclear is it says "choose up to 2 flavors" which we assumed meant that 2 flavors were included. When we asked the server if people ever misunderstand it, he said yes they do. I have a lot to say regarding this place. First off, delicious food, good service. Now the nitty gritty VERY important to read as they are still in the works of a HUGE error that can cause a lawsuit if not corrected. Same goes towards their POS system used, I've contacted both the restaurant and their POS company responsible for this. Friendly reminder for parties of 6 or more, it's not disclosed on their website, menu and they do not mention this upon paying but they do a "20%" gratuity charge that's added to your bill. In my case, they charged sales tax to the total amount and gratuity, and the gratuity was 23% not 20% as shown on the digital receipt. They do not provide paper receipts as I asked ahead of time. Another point is they completely forgot my order and put so little effort in making mine photo worthy as they did with my family's meal. My family pretty much finished their food before I had to bring it up to them. We came when they opened without making reservations. We ordered the appetizer platter and the value set which offered 6 desserts and 6 drinks; for the value it's for the number of people in the party. You cannot order the value for four with a party of 6. Food and beverages are the star of the show. Beautifully displayed, a piece of art. Tried coming here after dinner once, but the lines were out the door. We were told the wait was going to be over an hour, so we left and went to another nearby dessert spot. Fast forward to tonight, we were lucky to find parking on the same street. There were no tables available when we arrived, but we decided to sit at the bar stools. Long overdue review - I went here March 2022 and I still dream about going back. Food - Matcha Lava Cake - SO GOOD. Not as good as the last time I was here. I ordered the Mango Sticky Rice Bingsoo and the total with tax and tip was about $24. It was not that good. The flavors were pretty mid and definitely not worth the price. I don't plan on ordering any Bingsoo from U Dessert again. I was up in Berkeley for a weekend trip, so I decided to pop by U Dessert Story on Shattuck Ave! I had tried the same branch in San Francisco, and it was really good. We arrived around 8pm on a Saturday night and were seated immediately. The staff were polite, but not very attentive as the restaurant was quite busy. You view the menu through a QR code on the table, but order through the waiters. We ordered the Old School Milo with Cheese Foam on top, and it cane with Oreos as well! The flavor was so nostalgic, and I love the addition of the Cheese Foam, this was a 5/5 for me! The Thai Tea Bingsoo had a very strong tea flavor, even though it came with condensed milk, I felt that it wasn't sweet enough. The boba was cooked well though, and the little crispy toast bites were also good. This was probably a 3/5, but the presentation was lovely! We also ordered the Mango Sticky Rice Bingsoo, and this was sooo delicious! The mangos were fresh and sweet, and the condensed milk + mango puree to pour over adds such a refreshing sweetness to the ice. The sticky rice was also very yummy, I loved how it paired with the bingsoo. Definitely a 5/5! The restaurant itself does get crowded nearing 9pm, but the interior was decorated beautifully. It is about the same size as the SF location, but I do prefer this location in terms of ambiance. The place is a cute cafe with low music in the background so that you can converse with your friends/date.
