I accidentally left my garage remote in the van after returning it. I called right away and was told that I could come pick it up the next morning because it would be removed from the vehicle. Before driving over, I called again to make sure it was there. Instead, I was told the truck had already left with my remote still inside. When I asked why it hadn't been taken out as I had been told, I received no reasonable explanation. The assistant manager, Maria, was extremely unprofessional on the phone. She told me their system was down and that she couldn't check anything, so I would have to call back later. I asked if she could call me back once the system was working again, and she immediately started trying to end the call without even asking for my phone number. It felt like she had no interest in helping resolve the situation. What made the experience even more frustrating was that when I later came into the store to retrieve my remote, the employee at the front desk told me the system had never been down. Hearing that after being told otherwise over the phone was incredibly disappointing. Whether I was given inaccurate information or simply brushed off, it reflects very poor leadership, a lack of professionalism, and a complete disregard for customer service. Customer service should involve taking ownership of mistakes, communicating honestly, and treating customers with respect. Instead, I was given conflicting information, my property was left in the truck after I was told it would be removed, and I was treated as though my concern was an inconvenience. I knew this place because I always pass it on the way to work. I always see that they have a lot of rental truck on the parking lot. When it was time for me to move, I came to this place to rent a U-haul. Little did I know that you need to do a reservation. Jeez. I learned my lesson. So I have to scramble and check out other places. This U-Haul rent dolly and storage as well. They sell boxes, tapes, and pad locks. Owner is nice as well as the employees. They give out informations on other U- haul locations. If you need help with moving your stuff, there are people milling on the street that you can pay hourly or by contract. read more

Rented one of uhauls trucks for a few hours and received great service from the staff.... after returning the truck I was overcharged on my credit card and spoke to Hiro the manager of the store and he explained the discrepancy and why I was overcharged. Needed to rent a truck to move some things. I rented here before so decided to rent here again. Stopped by without making a reservation online. They had a couple of the size we needed. The check out was a breeze. The person at the counter was super helpful and got us out the door fast. There's no instructions on how to operate the truck. It took me a while to figure out how to adjust the side mirrors and I was not familiar with the main break. One of the day laborers tried to help me which was nice. The return process was fast and efficient. Pulled up to the return area and someone did a quick check. We made sure to fill up the gas down the street before returning. Ok. So this is just the best U-Haul place ever! The manager Hario went above and beyond to help us. Here is the story, I made a last minute decision to move offices and had zero reservations the night before when I made the reservation. I ended up running late the next day to pick up the truck (another appt I had was running late) and Hario was absolutely fantastic about it. He changed our reservation ... no issues at all... helped us get the right truck.... the right kind of packing tape (which was a lifesaver -btw... definitely get the-haul boxes and box tape....they absolutely work better than what we had). Here is a guy who clearly loves his job! I would actually go out of my way to just rent U-hauls at Chatsworth..that's how great a guy Hario is! The best thing I can say is you can trust this manager. he didn't try to upsell me, got me the perfect truck for the kind of move I had (the one I had actually reserved was too big) and he's just kind..just very kind, accommodating and a great sense of humor too! read more

Reservation confirmation was displayed to pickup here in the app and in our email. Their system showed it was supposed to be another location, they blamed the issue on us, gave us a new truck had us sign paperwork, didn't tell us that it had to be returned back here until after signature & charging us even though that wasnt what we signed up for (we needed to drop it off elsewhere). Manager threatened us that it was going to be a problem if we didn't bring it back here and it would cost thousands of dollars. What a joke & horrible service. read more

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY -HAIRO IS HORRIBLE WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE I will start by saying I had to drive to chatsworth from canyon country because there were no closer uhaul trailers available, even though I reserved one a week in advance in my area. But the real issue was this: My husband had already moved across the country for his new job and I had to pack my house up by myself into the uhaul before driving it from CA to FL. I was given 8 days with the trailer so I figured I would pick it up a few days early and unhook it from the truck in my driveway so I could pack it up in between running errands and going to work on my, very busy and stressful, last few days before moving. No one notified me, upon picking up the trailer, that once I brought it home, I would not be able to unhook the trailer from my truck. This was VERY inconvenient because now during one of the most busy times of my life, before moving my whole life across the country, I did not have a vehicle I could drive for the last few days I needed it to run around town for errands and work. I called U-Haul corporate and they told me that I could pay for somebody to come out and unhook the trailer but I didn't feel I should have to pay because nobody told me I couldn't do it myself when I got home (or else maybe I wouldn't have picked it up early). Not only that, but they said it needed to be parked in a flat area in order to unhook. My house is on a hill and my driveway isn't flat, so that wasn't possible. Again, I should have been notified of this upon picking it up. I ended having to spend money on Ubers to get to work and other various places and had to burden family members and friends to drive me around to run errands. I called the location I picked the trailer up from in chatsworth to ask for compensation for this extreme inconvenience and HAIRO ZALAYA was less than helpful. He was extremely rude on the phone. He told me I should have brought it back and dropped it back off (that wasn't an option for me since there are ZERO trailers available anywhere for MILES and I already had to drive 45 minutes both ways just to get this one even though I reserved one a week in advance) He was argumentative and even began raising his voice at me. When I told him he was being very unprofessional and his customer service was horrible, I asked to speak to a manager. He then said "I am the manager" in an arrogant tone, but then said his manager is Ashley... so who knows if he lied or if he is a manager, but if you have a higher-up, telling me you're the manager is not the correct answer to give a customer and makes you look ridiculous. Also, the way he acted should be very embarrassing for the company if he is actually a manager. He told me call Ashley to talk to her about this in a challenging way, as if she won't help me either and she'll take his side or something. So I called corporate instead. Anyways, in my app it says this issue was "resolved". It most definitely was not resolved. I'm still waiting for hiro's manager, Ashley, to call me after being instructed to do so by corporate. so we will see if she resolves this. At this point I don't only need compensation for not being notified that the trailer is impossible to unhook but I need compensation for hiro's absolutely atrocious customer service. read more

William is awesome!!! We had some problems connecting the trailer I rented to the old truck I just bought for towing. Not only did he crawl underneath the rear bumper of my old truck to try to get it set up for me, he even popped the hood and tried to check for any loose connections in my wiring underneath the hood. He did all of this with an incredibly positive, cheerful attitude, and he even stayed late just to help me even though the store was already closed. I can't think of very many businesses that would display that level of customer service. William definitely deserves some sort of award from U-Haul corporate, and a bonus and a raise or something. This guy went above and beyond, and did everything with such a great attitude and willingness to help. I can't even think of a time in the past two years where I encountered this level of service anywhere, and this includes luxury resorts that I've stayed at. I have purchased propane refills here for several years and although I have had relatively few negative incidents in the past, 3 of last 4 times there was no one available to fill propane tanks. On my last visit, the manager indicated that I should have called ahead to make sure they had someone available at 3pm on a Thursday. Not only am I upset for wasting my time on multiple visits but the attitude from the manager where he smirked about my frustration makes me unlikely to use this location in the future. TLDR: Very enjoyable, professional and was able to help out when an issue with the truck caused me to be a bit late in my return. Also Bill is fantastic I rarely write reviews and tend to only do so when I meet service at one extreme or another. I am happy to say that this time it was positive. I rented a uhaul from this location (and have plenty of times before this and have always been satisfied with them) and this time I was able to load up and move everything I needed to from an LA to OC trip and back. Right as I finish offloading at my house and with just enough time to return it that day (though my return was scheduled for the next morning) the battery gave out and I couldn't turn it over. I called them to inform them what's up and they said to call roadside assistance (standard operation procedure) and I told them I likely wouldn't be able to return it on time. Next morning I get roadside assistance to jump it and I return it straight to the uhaul. Bill let's me know he will assist me in checking it in after he finishes helping load moving supplies in a customers car who asked for help. When he comes to help me he is in good spirits, ask how it went and I told him frankly. He says sorry and that given the nature of the older trucks every now and then someone will come in and inform them of a faulty part of a truck. He doesn't charge me the automatic extra day of rental since I was past my return agreement (only less then 30 mins) and let's me know he is going to put the truck away from the others so it doesn't get rented out until it's had the battery replaced. I am very happy with their service and will miss them greatly when I end up moving across country read more

Very disappointing- rented a 26' truck for an event and it came with an empty gas tank (they said the homeless people in the area stole the gas the night before), smelled rotten of cigarettes and had trash all in the cab. The passenger seatbelts were non-existent. The service was not better as the system was very slow and machines were not working properly. I will definitely look for another U-Haul place in the future. Shame- used to be a nice, local place to go. read more

They were still able to rent me my reservation made vehicle in under' 10 mins!! I followed directions, which is what peeps need to do. Download the app and make a reservation for whatever, on the app. Then follow the instructions. EASY - PEASY folks!!!!! We'll be using this U-Haul on Devonshire in Chatsworth for ALL of our moving needs. Pricing is very reasonable and fair. Vehicle was clean. Staff was professional. Come on! Get it together. I made a reservation over a month ago for a hitch installation for 8:00 am and I received a call the same day I made the reservation by your store asking me if they could reschedule it for 11:00an which I agreed to. Then I show up on the scheduled day 15 minutes prior to the appointment only to be told you have an installer then, that you don't have all the parts. What you need to do is sell your business to someone who's organized and keep employees. Or change your name from U-haul t Jason called me and said he was able to find the parts that they were missing and apologized for all of the inconvenience. Recently rented a tow dolly here to pull a small car, the employees & manager ( S. Yslas ) at this rental yard are horrible. I went into yard a few days b4 my pick-up date and asked if they could give me a short tutorial with setting up & operating dolly, but lady said really no need, just go on YouTube & search. she couldn't have been bothered. : { On day of pick-up we called direct store # to ask if we could go in a little earlier for tow dolly, the guy answering phone said he didn't handle that & we needed to call customer service #, & put us on hold for a bit, which was ridiculous! We got to yard around 4pm to pick up tow dolly, there was 1 guy working & helping customers. The yard had returned rental trucks everywhere, very chaotic & disorderly. So we could barely pull in with RV. He rushed through the set up & hook up of tow dolly, he didn't hook up turn signals properly for dolly, nor check. Wasn't worried about safety or functionality. He just wanted us to leave so he could close up! Don't use this rental place, Unsatisfactory service! read more

This is THE place to go. I made a reservation online for a pickup truck, but when I got to the location, I switched to a covered vehicle because it was raining. They swapped the vehicles out with no problem. There is also a parking lot, so you don't have to worry about having someone pick you up or drop you off if you're renting a vehicle. The highlight of the place is how friendly and helpful the staff are. I rented a vehicle to pick up a mattress and the person who I was receiving my mattress from cancelled last minute. Jeremy and Kevin were ESPECIALLY helpful and understanding of my situation. Those two deserve a raise. If you need anything at all, ask for Jeremy or Kevin. They are both great employees and they will do their UTMOST best to help you in any situation. This was my first time at this location and I highly recommend this place to everyone. read more

This review is for the service I got from Fredrick only, he is a super nice guy! His customer service skills are above par! He is kind courteous and just a friendly guy! Wish everyone that worked there was like him! Be aware though when you rent a truck powered by propane and not gas be sure to ignore the 15-20 start instructions, its more like 60 seconds! Other than that no complaints! Happy customer and if I need a rental again I will 100% make sure that Fredrick is their so that I get the same great service again! What a joke. I got the truck between 1/4 and 1/2 tank, what was described as 3/8 of a tank of gas. I filled up before returning it and put the needle back in the EXACT same spot it was originally in. Then the truck gets inspected, i get charged, and my receipt gets emailed to me, so they never let you see it there. They closed 15 minutes later. When I saw my receipt I had a charge for "2.7 gallons of gas" at $14. Total crap. Nickel and dime your customers all you want. I'll never come back. Enjoy the $14, idiots. Seems like a lot of reviews have fraudulent charges as a common theme here. read more

If I can give it zero stars I would,set up an appointment for them to install a trailer hitch, it was set up for a Friday at 3 pm 4 hours later the assistant manager calls me and basically tries to have me change the time after I let him know that's the day they had available and only time Ivan make it he continues to ask if I can drop it off earlier,very pushy I ask him if there is problem with the time he said no but if I can come earlier I tell him I cannot at this point I am annoyed and I ask him if he would like i can go somewhere else at which point he begins interrupting me before I finish even talking, apparently he's the installer but has no customer service skills very disappointed with this place I don't know maybe they need to train there employee better but what ever I would stay away and find another location to rent from. read more

If I could give this Uhaul location negative 5 stars, I would. It almost hurt to have to give them 1 star just to write the review. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS LOCATION!!!!!!!!! I have no problems with Uhaul as a corporation, just this franchise location, and I say that because I've been on the phone with Uhaul conflict resolution for the past 2 days. I rented a truck to move from Woodland Hills to North Hollywood, pretty routine rental. I paid with my credit card when I picked it up and was told that it was an estimate (because mileage could be estimated but until I returned the truck they wouldn't know the actual mileage) which is fine. I've rented trucks before, I get how it works. I asked the guy helping me if I personally needed to turn in the truck and he said no. They have my card on file so they wouldn't need me. Next day, I went in because my friend left the Dolly we rented at my house and I returned it first thing in the morning. (the truck wasn't due back until the morning, so we actually turned it in early, just turned the dolly in the next day). The guy that helped me when I came in was really really rude. He asked me if I paid my phone bill because he had tried to call me last night about the dolly and he got a weird message. How fucking rude!! I told him that he must have dialed the wrong number because my phone works just fine and I was receiving calls last night and this morning. I told him that I hadn't returned it late because I rented all of the equipment for 24 hours. He actually agreed when I said that, he said they just were worried about the dolly. Fine. Then he told me I owed $30 for a late payment. At first it was just labeled "service fee" then when I asked, they guy said "oh, that's a late fee"Uh WHAT!! I paid when I picked it up and they have my CC on file. How could I possibly owe late payment???? They guy helping had no clue why and couldn't answer me. I told him to have the owner, who placed the charges on my bill to call me so we could resolve it. I told them I would dispute the charges if they charged my CC. I NEVER heard from the owner. I tried to call him 3 times and then yesterday they charged me $45.25. What the hell!! So now I have to waste my time fixing this. I tried to call them again but of course no answers, no call back, nothing. So I called Uhaul's conflict resolution before I go through the process with my bank to see if they can reverse the charges. The women on the phone was super nice (this is Uhaul corporate, not the franchise location) and even she couldn't understand why they would charge me for this. She actual said "I can't believe he's trying to take advantage of you like this". Uhaul is going to resolve this but it has taken extra time on the with customer service, not my idea of fun.
