The guys here are great for all my motorcycle towing needs! I first used their service back in 2013 to tow my motorcycle to and from the race track. I have a family van, but rented a truck and motorcycle trailer because I did not have a hitch on the van, nor did I want to load my bike on a steep truck bed. Fast forward a year and a half later. I finally have a hitch on my van, but do not have a motorcycle trailer. I've rented motorcycle trailers here 3 times now and during my first visit after installing a hitch myself, Travis, has been helpful in making sure the hitch and electrical wiring works properly before I rent a trailer. Also, Rick and Travis has hooked it up with tow balls each time. Will come back again! read more

I'm very impressed by my experience at U-Haul - both checking out and checking in we're very quick and pain-free. I waited a bit when I returned the van, but the representative at the counter was going above and beyond to honor their price match for a couple moving across the country. I wasn't in a hurry and I was impressed at his eagerness to get them the best deal even though the place was busy. Nicholas helped me return the van and he was very nice and helpful. Service was incredibly slow. There was absolutely no urgency from staff to assist customers. When we arrived, there was no one in front of us in line, but yet it took us over twenty minutes to be helped! By the time we left, the line was 8 parties long, with still no friendly customer service or hustle from the staff. Very good experience with the manager Roberto today. I was confused regarding the pick up/drop off time, so we were being charged for two days. Roberto explained the policies they have in place (they allow 1 hour over on weekdays and 15 min on weekends), which makes total sense (this is a very busy place...good location...large selection). UBox STOLEN at this UHAUL facility right under their noses! Uhaul employee left keys of truck inside while hooking up Ubox trailer and bystander jumped into truck and stole everything. (Negligence) Avoid this location at all costs and uhaul in general. My ubox containing all my possessions from 1 br apartment was stolen along with a uhaul truck while onsite and under uhaul responsibility. - call directly from police department. - Not a single apology or call from uhaul upper management regarding the issue. - Dealing with insurance company is a painful process and loss in the thousands of dollars. - Manager from nearby uhaul location has confirmed that area has become unsafe but uhaul has not made any modifications (gates, security guards etc) to address the issue. What a horrible a place! I returned a box of bubble wrap, but was not able to get a refund due to their computers being down. They then called to help provide the refund over the phone, but then put me on hold for 20 minutes. When they got back to me they said they needed to look up my contract, and that they would get right back to me. I was driving by and had been on hold another 15 to 20 minutes so I just stopped by the store in person. The person that was supposed to be helping me was out in the yard helping another client with a hitch. Needless to say she was not working on my refund. She had my receipt and credit card info and I was there in person to just credit the refund back to my card. She then started with demanding my personal information such as name, phone number, email address, and by the time she was asking my home address I had enough. I am tried of businesses phishing for personal information. When I declined to provide any further personal information she denied my request for a refund despite having the box of bubble wrap returned. I then asked for a manager and the next woman at the next register just said "nope!" This is a very unprofessional business staffed with employees dedicated to terrible service! read more

Just want to let everyone know that I had a fantastic customer service experience at this location. I purchased a hitch for my bike rack. Not only did the manager of this location install the hitch, but he put the bike rack together for me and made sure it fit properly. A few days later I went back because I heard a noise that began when the hitch was installed. The weight of the back of the car appeared to have shifted towards the back, and the spare tire made noise. Travis got to the bottom of this noise and readjusted the spare tire underneath the car. read more

Still not renting trailers to early model Ford Explorer owners? I was looking for a one-day rental of a motorcycle trailer to haul my bike to the shop, but guess what... they won't rent it to me because I was driving a 2002 Ford Explorer (with a hitch). It's been 15 years since U-Haul set its policy to ban rentals to Ford Explorer owners, without any evidence to back up their claim. Yet, oddly enough, they will still rent trailers to owners of Mercury Mountaineers, Mazda Navajos, and Lincoln Aviators, even though these are the exact same vehicles as the Ford Explorer. This may have made more sense when Ford was having issues with defective Firestone tires, but with that issue long settled, for some reason U-Haul will not lift its ban on Ford Explorers. I could use much harsher words, but instead I'll say this - U-Haul, you are dead to me forever more. I will never use a U-Haul product or service, never recommend a U-Haul product or service, and I will urge others to do the same. read more

Went to get a simple tow hitch installed for $335 and left with $1300 worth of damages to our vehicle. The owner/manager/expert installer Kevin Taylor assured us that he was best for the job but his workmanship was poor quality and careless. Just be honest if you can't do a job. Don't reel in the work to meet your quotas. He is unprofessional and dishonest. The poor quality cameras match his skill level of installing tow hitches. He only charged for the parts excluding the labor. We'd rather had paid the full amount and drove away with our vehicle in the condition that we dropped it off... not scratched, no dents, no gap in side panel, bumper not replaced properly so one side was not pushed completely in , cap missing on tailgate, and the icing on the cake was pictures were taken when I noticed the apparent damage. When I came out an hour and half later an employee had attempted to wipe of the paint damage but they could not get the scratches out. Of course everyone denied it but cameras don't lie... read more

We went in on 01/01/11, maybe the Desk guy was hung over or just really didnt wanna b at wrk that day...instead of explaining the insurance to us he just pointed to the little debit card swiper screen thingy n said, "the added insurance is on the screen. I had a great experience here. From the moment I pulled up the young guy that works here was quick to answer my questions, test my trailer plug to make sure it worked and show me what trailers were available. By time i walked inside I was all set up and knew exactly what I was getting so I was in and out quick. Again, the young guy was quick to hook up the hitch and give me tips as I hadn't pulled a trailer in ages. I rented a trailer from them a few months ago and the exp was 5 star! Time to unload the storage unit so I figure I'll get the same trailer since the exp was so good. I make an online reservation and show up to a super long line. Ok, they are busy on a Sunday morning, I get that but after 25 min I finally get to the counter and they guy tells me that my reservation is for the South and Paramount Uhaul location. I was pissed and told him that I made it for this location on Cherry. He says I did but the trailer they had was stolen and they moved my reservation. Wow, great service so when were they going to let me know? I drove to the location he directed me toward and after waiting in line there I found out that Uhaul moved the reservation again to an even further away location. Now, I've literally wasted an hour of my time and I just cancel the reservation all together. It took a few extra trips with my truck but so what! I was seething with anger! Will I still use U Haul on Cherry? That's the question. I probably will since they are literally the closest but I'm not going to rely just on the online reservation system. I'm going to actually call the location the day of and make sure before I go through all that crap again. Then again, I have no need for a trailer or moving truck in the foreseeable! read more

I am giving them two stars. One for being nice and one for the partial refund. I rented a 10' truck but it had very little gas. That was annoying because it's a one way rental from Long Beach to San Diego. I loaded the truck and got on the 405. About 15 min on the road and I had to stop for gas. When I started pumping, the gas just poured out the bottom of the truck. So I'm sitting in a gas station. Truck is full on my stuff. Can't move. Called roadside assistance. She was nice. Once she figured out where I was she said she would be in touch. I received a text that someone was on their way and they would arrive in two hours. Waited an hour and 45 minutes and received a call that the tech was sent to Riverside by accident. Nowhere near my location. I was told another tech would come in 30 minutes. I later received a call that the second tech had been in an accident. A third tech would be called. He showed up and explained that the gas lines were separated because someone was stealing gas. He said it was his third repair that day. If you ask me, it's time to put a cage of some sort around the gas lines if it's that big of a problem. After three hours at the gas station the truck was fixed and I was on my way. But then the check engine light came on. Ugh! I wanted to just get to San Diego so I kept going. I returned the truck on time with more gas than I received it with. I was credited about 1/3 of the cost. Just a warning to all to keep an eye on your gas lines or you could be stuck like I was. I hope U-Haul will consider some changes so this does not happen to others. read more

U-Haul employees broke into my rented locked truck while it was being repaired, they robbed me of my belongings and never repaired the truck. Their insurance company Rep West refuses the claim! DONT USE UHAUL IN LONG BEACH! They are thieves, I have the police report. read more
