I came here to refill my propane. Staff were friendly and quick to complete the job. I was in and out within 20mins.

We booked a 20' truck for a 8 hour window 3 days in advance. We received multiple confirmation email and texts that said we could pick the truck up using the mobile app anytime. At 9 pm the night before we received a text this vehicle was not available for early pickup. This negatively impacted our plans. Upon pick up of the vehicle right off the bat the brakes felt very very bad. About a mile down the road the brakes started to grind and the pedal pulsate. Once the truck was loaded it was almost impossible to stop without being in tow haul mode. Thank you Jesus we only had 10 miles to drive and the truck was only at 1/2 capacity. I told the very nice gentleman helping us If someone were to drive that over the grapevine they would be on a suicide mission. Don't put your life in danger find a more reputable U-Haul Location. The owner or GM of this location is running a sloppy undermanned store. 2 employees having to do it all. That's not fair to them or your customers. The showroom was about 90 degrees and the lot is full of debris and trash. The 2 employees providing customer service at pick up and drop off were very nice and helpful. read more

Yoooo I've used U-Haul's all over LA County. I moved annually for nearly a decade. Let me tell you- this has got to be the best location I've ever visited. I made an appointment through the app and the truck I reserved was there! Hertz could never. Everyone was super friendly, fast, and accommodating. The seat didn't move in my truck and they immediately swapped the truck. Full disclosure- it was a weekday booking which is new to me. But I scheduled an hour for pickup due to experiences at other locations, and was 45min early thanks to this team. They killed it. During the quarantine for COVID-19, I went to Home Depot to buy some propane. To my surprise the line for Home Depot was 100 yards (it's equivalent to a foot ball Field). I waited in line for 10 minutes, then my wife called she wanted to know why it was taking so long. I FaceTime (video call)Her so she could see the line. While I was FaceTime-ing with her, the people around me in line overheard our conversation. They told me I did not need to wait in this long line for propane. They told me that U-Haul sold propane. It was surprised to me, I always thought of U-Haul was just a moving company. Even during these trouble sometimes they are good people everywhere. She was pleasant and attentive. She made sure everything was to my satisfaction and managed the bill very fast. Then said, "Happy Thanksgiving!" And actually meant it from her heart. I got what I paid for. Not too happy about how much I paid. But it is what it is. So I moved. Needed a truck. Availability was awful. Can't blame that on U-Haul. It's a busy time. I wanted a 20ft truck. They only had 15ft available. Whatever right? Ow the truck rental isn't much. $29.99. Big deal. But they're going to make money on mileage. Smaller truck means you make more trips and the mileage is more expensive. No one way trucks were available. I wanted to just rent a one way truck. Pick up where I live, drop off where I moved to. As far as service, the reps over the phone at the call center are professional. Then when I showed up to the location, it went well too. "Sophann" (if I remember right and spelled it right) was super cool and helpful. Smooth process. The truck was clean. It had a ramp and seats three. It comes with a lock so you're pretty much set. Or Hong extra needed. They have other moving necessities but again, they cost. I had my own. Gas is expensive so you have to return the truck with the same amount of gas. I paid almost $300. U-Haul helped me get the job done. But I think it was too expensive. Not sure if I can find a better, less expensive rental truck. But for now, not happy with the price on mileage. My advice, shop around before renting from U-Haul. I'd give 3 and half stars if I could. But definitely not. 4 star experience. read more

I rented a 10' truck from this location. The truck ran fine and was clean. The reason for my one star rating is because the fuel level at pick-up was below the amount I was told, yet I was expected to return it with the amount they told me, not the actual amount of gas in the truck at pick-up. I had timestamped photos and submitted them to U-Haul (corporate-not this specific location) and reported my concerns. I was later called by someone from the Cherry Avenue location, who told assured me I would not be charged any additional fees. When I asked about the concerns I reported, he got very confrontational and argumentative, would not let me speak, and ultimately told me I had no common sense before hanging up on me. I will never use this location again, and I will be sure to tell everyone about my experience there. I felt so disrespected! read more

Trying to rent a uHaul last week.. Girl at counter has a big attitude! Sitting behind counter, she finally speaks up and says, u need to make a reservation to rent. No walk ins? Then we say ok we will go sit in our car and make one.. then the guy says, too late it's 5 and we close at 7PM. Also they have their Taco Bell food spread out all over the counter? Typically have a bad or less pleasant experience with uhaul companies because of lack of customer service. The gentleman that assisted was very helpful and patient. We approached the gentleman who didn't even look up from his phone to acknowledge us in front of him. Walked over to the girl instead and asked how much it cost to get a hitch out on our car. I had a reservation, but I wanted a different location that was more convenient to me however the employee felt otherwise because he had seen that I had a reservation at different location. I wanted an estimate for a trailer to save a buck and since the employee seen that I had a van and I was dropping off the van away from long beach he became really possessive about the trailer and wouldn't give me an estimate. The guy kept preaching over and over how I would need to drop it back at the same location and I had told him I understand that 3 times. We had asked a previous location if we were able to rent everything out on this location and everything was pre-approved before heading over. Came to this location at 4:55, I understand that I was 5 min before closing & I usually don't do that & as we asked if it was ok the girl at the front said yes (all while having an attitude) & then a man that was coming in from parking a U-Haul stared me & my partner down & with non welcoming tone & Attitude asked"can I help you" we told him that the girl said we could get a truck & proceeded to just have the funkiest attitude in response & said "we don't rent out after 4:30" which we obviously didn't know that but he could have been nicer for sure. I would have left them a zero if it would let me. I went to this haul to get propane. it was an empty store. I was told it would be 5 minutes by a rude black guy. Since I have cancer and recently stopped chemo, I decided to sit in my car (parked right next to the propane area) for the AC. Before he walked out, a dad holding a small girl and 2 tanks went and stood by the propane area. before I could get out of the car, he started helping the man. I figured fine, and went back inside my car. when he was done filling both tanks, he walked around my car and back inside. I thought he was helping the dad carry a tank or 2 to his car. nope! dad carried both tanks while trying to get the baby to follow him to the car. as I got out, I looked at the dad and said, oh! I thought he had helped you to the cat. he really left me sitting here? . yes. yes he did. this is the MOST racist, rudest store I have visited in quite awhile!!! I'm finishing it now, but even after 10 months, I'm still having trouble writing this without using foul language or the expressions "Tar and Feathers", "Die in a fire", or "waste of human flesh". The original review is below: Rude, slow and incompetent. I will never rent from them again! To have these jerks waste your time on an already stressful day is beyond the pale. The employees have a rude, hostile attitude, and even with a reservation, they gave the van I needed to someone else. Despite the fact there were only two people ahead of me when I got there, they still found a way to make me wait almost a half an hour to be told "I don't see your reservation". I went over to the Paramount location and not only did THEY see my reservation, they had three of the vans I needed on the lot. I was in and out in literally 6 minutes with the van I needed. I asked why didn't the UHAL on Cherry just tell me to come to the Paramount location, or at least offer to get the van I needed from the paramount location... the guy smiled nervously and said, "I don't know, Sir, but I'm glad you're happy with us. So, if you're reading this before renting from UHAL, go to the Paramount location and save yourself the aggravation. read more

The guys working here are great. I had to unload a moving crate and was able to order and pick up a truck on the same day. The staff who helped me and my husband were polite, efficient and friendly. They were able to answer my question as to where would be the best places to try and get gasoline before returning. The 15' truck we rented was in good order. Inside the store, there was everything you might need for packing. So if you need at the last minute a few boxes, packaging for fragile items, tape, etc., you can grab it there. There are a few spots to park your car if you are doing a quick UHaul rental. The major setback for me was that it can be difficult to get into the lot because it is on a busy street corner. I find the best way to get in is to head east on Carson Street toward the intersection of Carson St and Cherry Avenue. Then the store will be on your right. There is also a second entrance on a small road off of Cherry Avenue on the southwest corner of the intersection. If I am moving in this area again, I plan to use this UHaul. read more

The store was kind enough to call other U-Hauls and U-Haul Cherry had the hitch I needed in stock! I drove such a long ways to U-Haul Cherry. They really went out of their way to help me. I finally made it to the appointment only for them to look shocked when I told them I what I was there and I would have to wait a minimum of three hours. When I asked for my money back they seemed thrilled to have one less thing on their plate and blamed ME for not understanding how busy they are. Placed my order online for a 9:45am pickup. Arrived at 10:00am... order wasn't ready. The person at the counter could use some customer service training to say the least. Monosyllabic responses to questions, no eagerness to pull my order... and he's eating a sandwich while typing one handed. Helped other customers while I waited...then he STARTED pulling the order. What's the point of placing an order, designating a pickup time, if they're not going to pull the order until you show up. Sorry I interrupted his breakfast, but the order should have been staged so when I showed up I just put the stuff in my truck. And getting in and out of this place is challenging....especially when the employees leave a U-Haul truck blocking the designated exit. I had to back up, turn around, and exit via the entrance. All while an employee watched. She might have done the customer centric thing and moved the truck, but I guess it's more fun watching CUSTOMERS navigating the obstacle course presented by U-Haul.
