Never had an experience like this. I would rate a zero but it won't let me, I have rented from here on many occasions and always had a good experience. This one was one I won't forget, and won't return. She had an attitude from the start, demanding I relocate my truck out from where I always have parked in the past to pick up trailers. After a discussion I told her I would just cancel the rental. I relocated my truck then came back in to insure the trailer reservation was properly cancelled and the attitude kept going. I don't think I have ever been treated with such disrespect. At the end she asked do you want to rent it or cancel it. I said I would like to rent it, and she said, well its cancelled and added refusal to do business or something to that effect. I did let her know that I had read the reviews and now understood why they only have a 2 Star rating. read more

Had to get a hitch installed and was told because it was a third party hitch they had to estimate how long it would take (even though I told them the estimated time and the lady who made the appointment said it would be charged hourly), they charged me for almost 2 hours of work for 20 minutes and wouldn't refund any of it because "company policy". I'm sure they could have done something even after I brought it up multiple times before hand. What a scuzzy company and "policy". Just be forewarned dealing with them and make sure it's exactly what you want. read more

If I could give this storage unit less than a one star, I would. My father, who has a diagnosis of dementia, trusted this location for years. Between June of 2023 and December 2023, his unit had been repeatedly broken into. Between those 5-6 months, there had been no efforts to contact him via phone or email. Thousands of dollars worth of property were stolen and others broken. It took until we physically came to the storage unit that we discovered the unit had been burglarized. The employees excuse was that my father's number did not work and they had undergone management changes, so emails were not being sent. Storage units are supposed to be for long term storage and should be trusted with this task. Additionally, do NOT use U-HAUL's insurance policy. They claimed that there was no evidence of burglary. Absolutely do not trust this location. read more

Check in and check out was a breeze. I wouldn't have anything bad to say about this location but unfortunately they decided to charge me nearly twice the amount of mileage that I put on their van. If you're going to rent from here, my advice to you is to verify the odometer matches what's written down before you leave! read more

Absolutely the worst place I've ever stored my things!!! If I could give negative stars I would. I paid my storage a little late so they locked me out, which is 100% fine and normal. However I paid it off on Tuesday, which is FIVE DAYS AGO as of now, and there is STILL a lock on it. I drove here with extreme gas prices on my ONE DAY off I've had in weeks from Portland, I got here at 5:02- which sure is technically past closing but this shouldn't have been an issue anyway. I've wasted hours of time and gas money now coming all the way here to have NO ACCESS TO MY OWN BELONGINGS. Which is extra horrible because I was trying to get them all out so I'd have more money a month for FOOD. Now they are going to continue to charge me for access I don't even have???? UNACCEPTABLE. DO NOT USE THIS STORAGE FACILITY. They will scam you. I moved out August 12th and they are trying to charge me $179 for August and September rent. The GM refuses to acknowledge that I sent him an email on 8/13/21 informing him of my move out. I also went inside 8/12/21 and told them I was moving out that same day. Can I give zero stars? My reservation was "updated" since they didn't have the trailer I requested at the location I wanted, so they gave me a bigger one at the Silverton Road location. This trailer was worse, too big, our stuff just bounced around back there and was to tow. Staff super rude. After refusing the insurance, Tammy bullied my husband into it. I called and let them know that I had spoken with our insurance company and the trailer would be covered. The guy was really unpleasant, said he'd "leave a note for the manager." The most poorly managed U-Haul location I've ever been to. I waited in line for over an hour to be helped and when it was finally my turn, I was met with complete apathy and disrespect by the owner of this location. He would leave in the middle of helping me to go do something else without so much as an apology. He raised his voice at me, never clarified for understanding, and couldn't even pretend to care. While spending my time waiting in line, I witnessed another customer try to express a concern about U-Haul's service to him and he did not offer a single apology and blamed her for the misunderstanding. I'm not expecting stellar service from a monopoly company like this but come on, have some human decency and kindness. I would also add that this location should really have someone proofread the signs they put up to avoid spelling and grammar mistakes in the future- definitely doesn't represent the company very well. If you can, look for a different business to meet your moving/rental needs. U-Haul has permanently lost my business. read more

Terrible experience at this location. We came here to get a trailer hitch installed on our car. We called a week prior to confirm everything, as we were driving in from the coast and we were very short on time. The gentleman at the location told us we could drop off the vehicle at 10am, and they would get started early and have us out early. At drop off, they said it would be 1-2 hours. Great. We left and received a call at noon asking if we wanted to reschedule our appointment to the following day... No, we drove 2 hours to be here and at this point we were expecting it to be done, but it hadn't even been started. Ok, they said they would get it started and it would be about 2 hours. We called back at 2pm and they said they were getting two people to work on it, and it should be done in 45 minutes. It's been an hour and a half, it's not done, it's on the rack, 1 guy is working on it, and it looks like there's still plenty of work to go. At this point we're at 6 hours and we're still waiting. We are now having to change our evening plans, as we were expecting this to be done 3-4 hours ago. We understand labor shortages and mistakes, but there was no ownership of the mistakes or empathy to our situation. Just an overall disappointing experience. read more

DON'T RENT FROM HERE! Badly managed with burned out employees. About 20 reservations waiting for over an hour in line to get equipment. Who's got time (over an hour now) to waste in an effing line for a truck that's already been reserved?!?! Absolutely a pathetically run business. I rented U-box from Allentown, PA. I personally went to Allentown to empty my storage unit, I had for 4 years. I personally packed the U-Box, and felt quite proud and confident of my packing job. I had NO worries. The wooden U-Box suffered a little damage during transportation over the 3000 mile trip. Upon arriving in Salem OR, Sherry at the UHaul location contacted the freight company, to let them know the damaged box was their responsibility to make things right for the customer, me. Sherry was very accomidating, and sincerly conserned and work for me, to make sure, I was treated fairly. I can not express how much I appreciate the professional way Sherry handled this issue. Only 2 little, very replaceable items, are beyond use. I am a happy customer! read more

Made reservations for a 26' truck online well in advance of our 600 mile move. Received a call 3 days before we are to move our entire house telling us they only have a 20' truck. Completely unacceptable! Managed to secure a 26' truck from Penske at almost the same rate. I will never use nor will I ever recommend U-Haul to anyone. This place is horrible. the staff doesn't know how to use the computers properly. They weren't able to answer questions I had about the storage units. Their outside storage units are raised way up and surrounded by mud and gravel when it rains. I waited in line for 15 minutes to speak with someone, and the people behind me even longer while I argued with them about how I dint want anyone else to have authorized access to my unit. Just me and my husband. They said I had to...WHAT?? No, I don't think so. I was so mad, that I left there and went to a different storage place to empty the U-haul. And then I went to a completely different U-haul site up the road at Security Storage to turn the truck in. By the way, security storage has better prices on space and the staff is way more friendly. read more

I have been renting a truck twice at this location. I usually make a reservation an hour before I come and each time they have something available for me. If you know what size of vehicle you need you should call in earlier. There are several reasons why I like this place. The location is easy to find and very convenient for people who live in the NE area of Salem. The trucks that I rented so far were well maintained and clean. The staff is very friendly. Getting a truck at this place took me the same amount of time as buying a TV at Walmart. Just answer a few questions about the mileage you will be driving, provide them your ID, prepay for the rental with a credit card, and you are ready to pick up the vehicle. read more

I had a terrible experience here. I made an appointment to get a hitch put on and my appt was made an hour before someone was able to install it. Then I was told it would take an hour and half max and it took more than 2 hours. I came from out of town and spent more than 3 hours in the store when all was said and done. The office staff was not sufficient for the amount of calls and people coming in either so just talking to someone took 10 minutes of waiting. read more

We showed up moving day morning to find out there was no trucks available even though we had a reservation and I called the location to confirm the day before. we reserved an auto hauler 3 months in advance. on the day of pick up we were told the trailer would be available for pickup at the 12th street location in salem. when we arrived we were told to go to the silverton road location. we arrived there to find that the trailer was not available. Although they had TWO AUTO TRAILERS on the lot they refused to rent us those trailers stating that the one we rented would be returned to the lot some time later in the evening. This is TWO LOCATIONS for U haul that did not deliver on the reserved trailer. We are forced to return later hoping that the trailer that we need will be delivered to the silverton road location. We just moved from Salem to Texas and we rented from John at U-Haul moving and storage at Silverton. John was exceptional. He went out of his way to make sure that everything was perfect. We have rented moving trucks from here on 3 separate occasions and there has never been a smooth transaction. Once, they stated they didn't have our reservation (which it was later discovered they did have) and sent us on a wild goose chase around town trying to find it. Another time, the car started shaking violently when I used the brakes. When I returned minutes later stating I would not be driving it, they tried to convince me that it was normal.
