Great online customer service. Really appreciated that it wasn't some outsourced call center. They have the fastest shipping of any "I load they haul" company I can see. I ended up canceling with them because my area was in a downtown area that I couldn't find a drop off area for (and they expect you to figure out obstruction permits) and so the trailer couldn't be dropped off. This was something I had to figure out, so I would recommend that they try and be more proactive about situations like that in the future. However, they were very easy to cancel with, and I appreciated how accommodating they were rather than be pushy. read more

Near flawless experience with U-Pack Boston to Salt Lake City. Chose them because they had a 28-ft trailer vs. 16-ft with competitors. Price was like $5800 vs $4400 so the choice was obvious. We found huge savings in choosing to use the whole trailer rather than partial trailer. We made a few container delivery date adjustments, which were easy to do on the website and by calling customer service. Easy to get a really nice human on the phone. Website easy. Great to get texts notifying me of next steps and including links so I could keep the process moving with one click. To maximize space, we used cross bars they provided upon request and sheets of plywood that we bought to create shelves and used every last inch of our 28-ft trailer. Allowed us to go to the distribution center twice and test out how the bars/wood would work so day-of loading was simplified. We mapped out ahead where each item would be placed in trailer, which also helped expedite loading process and eliminate surprises. Trailer picked up on a Monday and arrived SLC by next Monday for delivery at new home on Tuesday--well within 6-8 bus days promised, even during busy move season. Highly recommend. Really happy with this option. Had a couple of things break but that was our fault due to insufficient packing. Agree with others that you need to be super strong and able-bodied or prepared to hire strong people on both ends of the move in order for this method to work for you. read more

People doing the drop off and pick up were awesome! Calling and scheduling pick up of empty units was great too, and upack are very accommodating. Only reason this was not 5* is because one of the units was not water tight and 4 of our Wardrobe boxes had 6-7 inches of wetness and soggy bottoms. There were gowns in those boxes which needed care and attention afterwards. I would use them again, but I would inspect the trailers properly before use instead of assuming they are okay. read more

We moved a household, boxes and furniture from Park City Utah to Pennsylvania. The drop off of the trailer was right on schedule. The delivery was as well. Today as planned the empty trailer was picked up. We hired professional movers to pack the trailer and we hired professional movers to unpack. No pressure while I was researching, completely cost reasonable compared to all other options (VASTLY cheaper than all options other than renting and driving a moving van myself, which was only a little cheaper), always easy and friendly on the phone, and all deadlines were met perfectly. My one complaint is the ramp provided for use was steep (for bifolded storage length) and not conducive to small dolly wheels; hand trucks are fine. We would have given U-Pack a 5 star, but when we received our things we were not so happy. Overall the service is great. You pack it in to a trailer or Relo Cube and they drive it out. For us, we were moving across the country so it was a great option. Unfortunately, when we received our things, there was a lot of water in the trailer so our things were damaged. Our mattress, box spring, bed frame, dresser, other furniture and a few of our boxes were completely wet. We had to lay out our things to dry, and we couldn't sleep in our bed. Our furniture had water damage and it was really swollen because of it. We were not notified that water could get in the trailer so we are not happy about it at all. read more

My relocube was picked up in Utah on Monday Sept. 7th and according to the tracking had arrived in Kansas City, MO on the morning of Friday Sept. 11th. My cube has been sitting in Kansas City, MO since and it is now Tuesday Sept 15th with no change or movement. I contacted the customer service and they don't know why this has not moved forward. I am at my new home living out of a suitcase on the floor wondering if I have to drive to Kansas City, MO?! I could have moved this faster and easier myself this time... WHAT A HORRIBLE SERVICE! Made a reservation with them online. It was not too bad, but had some weird difficulties. When I tried to set the empty trailer drop off to Friday the 8th, then the pick up to the following Monday the 11th, the calendar would not let me set it to that. In order to set the pick up date to Monday, I had to set the drop off time to the Tuesday of the week before. I live on a busy street with a steep slope and can't leave a trailer out that long. I could have set the drop off to Friday and then called to have them pick up the trailer on Monday instead of the following Thursday like the calendar said, HOWEVER... I needed the trailer to be delivered to my new home on Tuesday the 19th, and with the pick up date automatically set to Thursday the 14th, I could not schedule it for the 19th. So, I set it up and called customer service and spoke to Audrey to get the schedule changed. She was beyond RUDE. Kept interrupting me and correcting me, without even letting me explain the issue. Then kept asking questions that would have been answered if she just stopped interrupting me and talking over me. Teach your customer service reps to listen. I barely even got 5 words out before Audrey was talking over me and interrupting me and saying "Whoa, whoa, we're talking about two totally different things here" when we were not...she didn't even know what I was going to say, so how? I would cancel my reservation and go with someone else based on this customer service experience but I don't want to have to look for another company with my moving out date coming up so soon. Hopefully Audrey's behavior isn't reflective of this company and how they treat their customers. read more

All in all very good service. Would be 5 stars but, the company could do better with communication. I was billed 1 foot over the amount I was allotted. I called UPACK and they re measured it. It was found to be in err and I would be refunded $83 approximately. I still have not received refund but to be fair, it's only been 2 days. We decided to use U-Pack for our Salt Lake City to Chicago move because of their comparatively low price and good online reviews. I was very happy with the service, but I should point out that there is a possibility that your shipment will be sub-contracted to a local freight company. In our case Old Dominion delivered one of their own trailers and transported our furniture and and goods cross country. I was a bit skeptical that this arrangement would work for the best, but in the end Old Dominion did a great job of delivering our freight on time for the promised price. ABF was very easy to work with and I had no problems contacting their customer service number when we had questions. We had been quoted nearly $6,000 and $7,000 by the major moving companies and paid just 1/4 of that with ABF. Also, the major moving companies gave us a 10-day window in which they would deliver while ABF promised that our trailer would arrive in 3-5 business days (which it did). Furthermore, ABF promised to hold our trailer for 2 days free of charge if needed which allowed us to take our time getting to Chicago. ABF was easy to work with, their staff was courteous and professional, and they chose a reputable and responsible company to work with in Utah. We will certainly consider ABF U-Pack for our cross-country move. read more

I pay them 3790 for a little container from utah to Kauai hawaii. Couldn't deliver the little container to the address on island so had to rent a big truck etc. So speend more money . Now I'm trying to get another container from them so i can sent the stuff from kauai to salt lake city . Now they want over 5000 dollars. went they reassure me would it be similar from kauai to salt lake. I tried getting a quote etc. They never called back or send me the price to my email like they said they will!! Very upset with this situation . Need to relocate soon read more

Super disappointed in this company which I'll Never refer to anyone or use again. First of all the largest trailer was so much smaller than I expected. Just because it's taller doesn't really make it larger since it's very hard to pack from bottom to top especially large furniture. They kept my trailer in salt lake two extra days after picking it up from provo meaning I was at my destination a whole week before my trailer is expected to arrive. So not only did it cost almost $1,000 more than I had planned it also took way too long to arrive. Had I used Penske I would have avoided both of these huge inconveniences. I had an out of state move and a budget. After researching, I chose U-Pack and the customer service from the initial phone call (Jessica) to the Relocube deliverymen was impeccable. I was very scattered as to time lines in my own schedule but they helped me figure it all out. That was the easy part. The Relo cubes arrived and I thought they looked 'too small' but THEY REALLY DO HOLD *ALOT* more than you think! (Thanks, Fernando !) I actually had space to spare. Go figure. We used the option of loading and unloading our belongings at the trucking facility in our move from Salt Lake to Las Vegas to save a significant amount of money over having the pod delivered door to door and couldn't be happier. It doesn't seem like a lot of people use this option, but I highly recommend it! We prepaid for 5 feet of trailer space and ended up only using 4 feet, so they even gave us a little discount for using less space at the end. Everyone at both the Salt Lake and las Vegas facility was so friendly. When you first arrive at the facility, you appreciate how massive of an operation their company runs and it can be a little intimidating at first, but they knew exactly who we were when we arrived and had the trailer all ready for us to load. The culture of the company and all the employees who work there is very laid back and friendly. Several truckers stopped by just to chat and say hello and we were blown away as we did not expect this. It was convenient to be able to track where the truck was online. It took a few days for it to arrive to Las Vegas. They were not in a hurry to rush us to go unload our trailer and told us to just come whenever it was convenient for us, even if it were a couple of weeks later. Other companies would surely start charging you storage fees if you didn't come pick it up right away. Overall, U-pack made one of the easiest moving experiences for me and I highly recommend them. read more

We scheduled the drop off of my container which happened as scheduled and with an open flow of communication. Once I requested pick up, they came exactly when they said they would. My favorite part? We moved from Utah to Florida. We estimated a full trailer and partial in a second. We only ended up needing 21 feet total in one. The cost for the move was $4,500. We did have to call them to get the price adjusted to reflect the credit for less space when the move was over. Their customer service easily handled it. Our filled trailer was delivered to our destination with a different ramp than what we used to load, and it had a major bulge in the part that touches the truck. We needed to offload a grand piano, so we called ABF to get another ramp. They said it would be 3-4 hours until they could get another to us. However, it was about a 1/2 hour when another semi pulled up and offloaded another ramp for us. The call they were going to make an hour ahead of the delivery did not go through due to their new system, so said the driver who tried to call us. Some things to keep in mind: No guns or ammo! We had to travel with many weapons and heavy ammo in our vehicle. Let's just say that it made the stay at hotels interesting when we unloaded the guns to keep them in our room so they were more secure. No flammable liquids! We had quite a bit of spray paint and other varieties of solvents which would have been cost prohibitive to buy new upon arrival. Go to Harbor Freight and buy moving blankets and ratchet straps. Our furniture arrived in great shape due to tight packing of boxes around the furniture and blankets to protect. Another tip is to go to Lowe's and buy the shrink wrap for about $21. It makes life so much easier and faster if you need to keep something together. (The roll of wrap has the blue plastic ends and is about 18 inches wide.) Would we use ABF again? Based on the professional moving companies we had quote our move, which were $12,000-$14,000, I would say we got our money's worth out of ABF. Was it hard work... absolutely. If you are not able-bodied, consider something else. read more

The trailers are huge the price is great(: . But the dispatch centers in salt lake and oakland are liers and dont ever do there job what ever that is unless there told to completely void there end of there contract and lie to customers . We had to make special cross states trips to meet the drivers and sign papers. In Cali the truck was there at the location 1 hour before my husband landed in town after he gave clear time instructions ): then on pick up the driver got lost ??? and according to dispatch couldn't be reached .. i thought trucks have CB's any ways we were promised our trailer would be picked up at 5 at the latest once loaded and we called for pick up and it wasent picked up an tell almost a week later /:WTF . Then in Salt lake we were told it would come thursday it dident then friday at 5pm we called asking were it was and were told " oh i'm so sorry its still here but a driver just walked in it'll be there in 30 min " it wasent we called again and some one said the same thing ? at this point my husband was done. one hour later or more our truck showed . We complained the whole time were given no discount barley a "im sorry" they simply dont care weather or not people who pay them and have to rearrange there whole schedule to try and get there stuff . im sad they SUCK BALLS UPDATE after i reviewed and emailed customer service UPack is handling the issues and making efforts to make us happy customers again . I first used ABF/U-Pack about 10 years ago, and I tried them again here for a move from SLC to Kansas. I was relieved everything went just as smoothly and cheaply as before. We were quoted over $5K for a move with professional movers, but with ABF the price came in at just over a grand including local help loading in SLC. Sure you have to pack your own stuff and sure you have to load your own stuff (unless you pay for help like we did) but the relocubes are really neat and I have yet to receive a bad or broken one. The cubes got delivered, picked up, dropped off, and re-picked up all within the time frames that were given to me (you have to call ahead 24 hours for all events; just FYI) so I was quite pleased. The loaders worked with me on where to place them and everyone was super professional. I have no idea how "professional movers" get away charging so much but honestly consider relocubes on your next move. I have not used the other company "PODS", but ABF has been fabulous. read more
