I spoke to a lot of companies for our out of state move, and I am so happy to have found Moving Connections after much frustration, and almost giving up! Many of the companies seem to contract out services- but with Moving Connections they have their own people so you can trust that what they say is what they will do. Our moving team Joshua and Cody worked so efficiently to load us up and make certain everything was packed safely and securely, and then drove it all to Portland and carefully unloaded it at our new house. A third member, Josh, worked in Salt Lake to pack our art collection perfectly- and everything arrived at the destination with no damage at all. There were a lot of elements to our move that needed extra coordinating, and Joshua and Cody not only managed it all extremely well, but they were so pleasant and kind throughout that it really helped us through what would otherwise have been a much more stressful process. They did a walkthrough at the end to make certain nothing was left undone, and even helped with a few extras that insured unpacking would go much more smoothly for us. Reliability and customer service are so hard to come by these days. These gentleman communicated so well, were thoughtful about different aspects of the move and gentle with furniture and new hardwood floors. Please don't cheap out on a tip. When someone works this hard, they deserve to be recognized. If you can afford a mover, you can afford a generous tip. And give them a beer while you're at it. Be a good human. read more

I was very happy with the two men who showed up to help me load my truck for a move from Utah to Arizona. They were polite, hardworking, and easy to talk to. However, the real test of their work as movers is the state my things were in when they emerged from the moving truck. And on those grounds, Moving Connections failed. I had an antique dining table that was very badly damaged--two legs snapped right off it. My kitchen table was also damaged, as was a bookshelf. I have moved back and forth across the country several times. I know that furniture can be scratched and nicked in a move. But never before have I had a single piece of furniture rendered completely unusable after a move. And when Moving Connections loaded my truck, I ended up with three pieces completely unusable. In addition, a box of beloved dishes were badly smashed. The manager told me when I called that because they had not packed the box, they would accept no liability for the dishes. But I know how to pack dishes so they don't break. This box had a huge hole gouged into its side--which makes it clear that the problem was the way the box was loaded onto the truck, not the way the contents of the box was packed. I contacted Moving Connections about the damage to my things. They told me to email them and to send photos. I did, and followed up a few days later when I still didn't hear from them. I still have not gotten a response from them, which is why I am finally writing this review. All told, Moving Connections caused nearly a thousand dollars in damage to my property--but they won't even respond to an email they asked me to send them. My wife and I moved all the way out to San Francisco from Salt Lake City near the end of June. Moving Connections offered a price that was incredibly lower than the competitors and yet still delivered excellent service. They took care of our stuff and got it over to us the day after we had arrived at our apartment. Due to their workers schedules (which we were made aware of before time), Matt was the only one that came out to help us move into our apartment which was on the second floor. He killed it. He was positive, careful, and efficient. Being the only one moving things (even though we helped as well) it would be easy to be negative yet he was smiling and happy the whole time. I don't generally find myself in need of a place that does shipping, but since we moved to Salt Lake City, I have had the opportunity to get rid of some things, by either donating them to charity, or giving them to friends who live in other states. This caused me to need to find a place that was one-stop shopping. A place where I could get boxes, strapping tape, packing peanuts, bubble wrap, and also offer a variety of ways to ship all in one place. My wife and I had gone to a few of the UPS stores locally, and there's nothing wrong with them, they are good at what they do. That means, you bring them a box or envelope and they will ship it via the only way they can, United Parcel Service. Not so with the MOVING CONNECTIONS store. I drive by this place every day on the way to taking my wife to work, but I had never noticed it, it's behind the Greek restaurant on the corner, and I just never noticed them. When I went into the store, I asked the man behind the counter, if they were in a new company here in Salt Lake City. He assured me that they were not, and that they had been in business for some time. I got some boxes, and told him I would be back. When I came back the next day, as it turned out, I had to ship a fairly large box full of things to somebody in Southern California, and the box was both larger and heavier than I thought it would be. I also bought an un-boxed item and the man behind the counter... (I really wish that I had taken note of his name, because he was really really good!) helped me get the item completely wrapped in bubble wrap and he cut down a standard sized box to a more manageable size, and got it ready for shipping to Texas. I think that the best part about using this particular store is, they can ship no matter which way you prefer, but also they can custom ship your item based on how much you are willing to spend, and which way you prefer, air or ground. I think that they may have saved me about 30 or 40 dollars by checking different methods of shipping and giving me the best rate. I like it when a company does that for you. They are more about customer service and they are making a few extra dollars. You bet I will use them again! read more

We had them move items from a house in Draper and a house in Riverton. They charge $90 an hour for 2 people which is reasonable. Be aware that they may pad their drive time estimates. They call themselves a full service moving company but that is not very accurate. They showed up to my Riverton home with barely more than a screw driver and a hammer. I had to run to Lowe's to get a torex bit so we could remove the refrigerator door. Some of our stuff wasn't boxed so they shoved it all in a box with no caution or care. I'm missing items and we have a few damaged items. I have a side table that has a large chunk out of it. My dryer was damaged and a piano my mother willed to me is gouged. I paid them $2000 dollars for them to damage my property and lose items. BEWARE: After they deliver your posessions they immediately ask you to sign a form. The form says you received all your goods undamaged. My wife signed it. DO NOT SIGN THEIR FORM. This is their game. When you realize a day later that some things are damaged and you call them they will say, "Oh we sent that form into the insurance company. It's an uphill battle at this point". They will then offer to send someone out to the house to check on the damage. This person will never come and they will have all kinds of excuses why he couldn't make it. I would not recommend this moving company to anyone. Please save yourself the grief and learn from my negative experience. read more

Do not use this company! Read the other reviews stating damaged items.They damaged our piano, dryer, dresser and entry table. They have taken no responsibility to fix these items. I sent them images of everything they damaged. They told us someone would come look at the damaged items but they never did. Beware of them and save yourself the stress of using this company. Never in a million years did I expect to be leaving a 5 star review for a moving company, but here it is. This company was recommended by my landlord, who uses them for his own moves. I called around a few different places I found on yelp looking for a better deal but these guys had the best price. Price Breakdown: - 100$ deposit on reservation (I think you have to give 24 hours notice to cancel) - $85 an hour for 2 men and a truck - +time it takes to get from their office to the location - 3 hour minimum My move involved a 2 bedroom apartment worth of stuff, plus a lot of gear (bikes, skis, etc) moving from a 2 story location into a second 2 story location about 20 minutes apart. The movers were so fast and efficient that they finished with a half hour to spare before the 3 hour minimum time. The minimum might be a downside if you're not moving a lot of stuff - but I knew about it and agreed to it before they arrived. Everything arrived in great shape - nothing was dinged or broken. The movers Mike and Lance were great about communication, asking me where boxes and furniture should go and even doing a final walkthrough with me before they left to make sure I didn't want anything moved around. An extra bonus was that the movers were really friendly - which was a huge help on an insanely stressful day. I would definitely recommend this company, and I'd use them again in a a heartbeat! read more

I have moved 6 times in six years and Moving Connections has been the only thing to get me through the last two times. Moving is terrible, it's exhausting, it's pure hell in my opinion, but Moving Connections make it so much better. The two movers, Mike and Tim, are the best. I will request them every time, but everyone I have met have been great so far! Mike and Tim were so careful with our furniture and did everything needed to keep it unharmed. I'm not sure why these guys haven't gotten a good review before. I thought they were friendly, competent movers. There were a couple dings on the wall, but that is to be expected with a move. I expect at least one thing to break or get a dent. They had some issues with their trucks being vandalized so they were late, but they recovered and brought up a UHaul and got the job done. Joshua and Nick were really great guys. Great attitudes considering the loads they have to carry. I also found them to be the lowest price for local moves. I should point out that we used them for a local move and only had them move our heavy stuff. We moved all the breakable stuff - dishes, art, etc. read more

Even though the crew were "nice guys", they did NOT take care of our household items. They neglected to place blankets around any of our furniture, washer, dryer, and our freezer prior to them using the shrink wrap. Additionally, these guys did NOT place any blankets on the floor of the truck before placing furniture down. They also placed heavy items on top of furniture, washer, dryer, and freezer which (of course) dented & scratched up these pieces. Finally, these guys did NOT ensure ALL items were secured in place with bungee cords/rope. Please reconsider using Moving Connections if you care about the outcome of your possessions. read more

Horrible! I put down a deposit for a small move. I got the email confirmation for the move, I read over it and noticed that i would be charged a minimum of 3 hours, even if it only took 2. I called them and explained again that I'd only need them at most 2 hours. He apologized for misunderstanding (not listening) and told me he had credit my card back the deposit. This all happened on March 31, 2016. I've talked to Bart 3 different times and he promises every time that he'll get it fixed in 48 hours. I'm done getting the run around with this company. I'll being talking to the fraud department of my credit card company and getting by deposit back. Save yourself the hassle of dealing with theses jerks! read more

This is the second time in 6 weeks I've needed to use Movers. We were fortunate to find Moving Connections. In August the two young men who moved me out of a storage unit and a bus (yes a bus - we've been using it as storage) into another storage unit. I'm sorry to say I cannot remember their names, but were beyond fabulous. They worked hard and were very careful with everything. It was a difficult move because they had to take things out of an area that was about 2 1/2 feet wide with a sharp corner for the stairs, so they had to lift and twist to get things out. This past week, I moved into an apartment on the 3rd floor (no elevator). Lance and Joe were my movers this time. Much of the furniture was solid wood and is extremely heavy. Some pieces were a tight squeeze getting them through the doors. They never complained, they went above and beyond! Since the pieces were so heavy and I couldn't lift them to move them around - and most of them were wrapped in styrofoam, bubble wrap and seran wrap, they were willing to spend the extra time helping me place the furniture, take all the wrappings off, and they even took all the garbage to the can for me. There attitude??? There's a minimum on the hours and we're going to make sure you get value for every minute. It would have been real easy for them to leave an hour earlier than the required minimum - but instead they stayed and helped. I would use these folks again and again!!! read more

I can't believe I haven't written a review for this company. I have used them 3 times since 2010 personally and know 3 other people who have used them (some of them multiple times) on my recommendation. They are always extremely fast and careful with your belongings. For the sake of full disclosure, we did have a wooden hutch get dinged, but one item in so many moves is reasonable to me, so we didn't even report it to the company. Moving Connections has moved me three times. My things did not all fit on the truck the first time and, without a word to me, they brought two more men and a truck and took what didn't fit off to a company storage unit. I found out after the fact, and was not able to actually view the storage unit with the items in it for several weeks (I had moved out of state). I paid $85/month on that unit for three years, at which time I moved back to Salt Lake. I rented an apartment and a storage unit for one year, during which time I purchased a home. When I was ready to move in, I asked them to bring my things from storage; they showed up with a heavy tool belt, nails, and the first grade school work of a child that was not mine. Bart assured me that all I said I had in the unit was a 'couple of boxes of paper work', which was absolutely false. Why would I not have taken it with me when I went to the unit? All he did was repeat, some 100 times, that that was all I told him I had. The fact is, Bart returned nothing to me after paying Moving Connections $3,000 in rent. Preferring to believe that a mistake had been made to any kind of wrongdoing, I offered to have them move me for free out of the storage unit and apartment, to which he agreed. We scheduled two different days. Bart sent two men (the help is friendly and hardworking) and did not charge me for the items I had in storage. However, a month later, the mover who helped me out of the apartment wrote up a bill for the hours for two men and packing materials, which came to $890. I told him I wasn't paying because that was not the agreement we had. A few days later, Bart charged the amount to my card. I am out: some $5,000 in property loss and $3,000 in rent, and Bart did not honor his word. Judge for yourself if you would like to work with them. I am writing so that you are forewarned. read more

I am recovering from a 14 hour move from one condo to another yesterday - and I have to say that it was the most enjoyable move I have ever experienced (and I have moved a lot)... Jack H and Josh F took such special care with our possessions (which we had packed ourselves) and EVERYTHING made it perfectly! They also took great care to not hit any walls, scrape paint, ding corners, etc... in our new building. They were jovial, energetic, kind and they truly enjoy what they do. From beginning to end they just kept going - even when I couldn't anymore! I will definitely use them if I ever need anything moved again (which I hope won't be for a while - haha). read more

All I can say is if you use this company, make sure you check every piece of your furniture thouroughly before the movers leave. I made the mistake of not doing so, and even signed the paperwork upon completion of the job. Over the following couple of days I noticed some scratches on one of my credenzas and my wood floor. I let it go. The next day I noticed a cabinet door was damaged and not opening properly on a piece of furniture. I let that go. After a couple of weeks of unpacking and getting settled I went to open my file cabinet ( a very expensive one) and the drawer would not pull out. Didn't think it could get any worse, but it did. My large buffet table has two side drawers that should pull out to make it larger. One would not pull out. I looked underneath and the wood was literally pulled apart. Major damage. I called the office and explained the damage and was told nothing could be done. Honestly, I figured that would be the case because time had passed. Very disappointed and quite angry about the damage and the utter lack of respect for my furniture. The guys were nice enough, but very rushed. I even questioned one of them about how they were improperly moving the furniture and he said he was the professional. Obviously I didn't see the damage occurring while moving or I would have stopped them. They did not pad the furniture properly and didn't even want to put plastic covers that I purchased on some pieces. I was concerned about the use of the dolly on some pieces going down the stairs. In retrospect I should have stopped them. I had used this company in the past and recommended them. Although the movers were at times a little sloppy with the way they did things, never nothing like this. Note: The shipping part of this business (Shipping Connections) is great. Paul that works there is awesome. BUT, If you decide to go with the movers, BE CAREFUL!! I have never made a online complaint before, but felt I needed to do so. Hopefully another person doesn't have to experience this. I gave this 1 star because they showed up on time, but at this point that doesn't even matter. THEIR PRICES ARE REASONALBE, BUT NOT WORTH THE DAMAGE THAT I INCURRED. read more
