I'm very disappointed with my recent experience at Sun Auto Repair in Renton. I came in because my…read moretrunk would not close. Before bringing my car in, I called and explained that I was confident the issue was the trunk latch. I asked about pricing and whether they had the latch in stock. I was told the first step would be to bring the car in so they could see if that was the problem. Once there, a mechanic tried slamming the trunk shut but it still wouldn't close. I was then told they needed to diagnose the issue for $140.00 to 170.00 At that point, I agreed because it sounded like they thought it might be something other than the trunk latch. Instead, I was charged $269 for a diagnostic, only to be told exactly what I already knew that the trunk latch was the problem. I don't understand why I was charged such a high diagnostic fee when I clearly explained the issue from the start. To make matters worse, I was quoted close to $800 to replace the trunk latch. For reference, the same latch for a 2016 Chevy Malibu LT 2.0 costs under $200 online. Between the excessive diagnostic fee and the inflated repair quote, I chose to walk away after paying the $269. They also claimed my battery was going bad, even though it was replaced just 7 months ago. Then today, I received a voicemail asking if I wanted to schedule work not just for the trunk latch and battery, but now spark plugs and struts issues that were never mentioned before. It honestly feels like they kept adding problems out of nowhere. I've had good experiences with them in the past, which makes this even more disappointing. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will not be bringing my car here again

I've brought my car in multiple times for the same tire concern (possibly a sensor or tire issue), and each time I end up waiting hours sometimes close to four just to be told nothing is wrong. I've had rotations done and asked about replacing the tires, and I'm told everything looks fine, yet the issue keeps happening. I understand new customers need service too, but returning customers with recurring issues should be handled more efficiently. If I'm coming back for the same problem, there should be some level of priority or urgency instead of being treated like a first-time visit and waiting for hours again. That's my main concern timing and how repeat issues are handled. I still think they do solid work, but the process for returning customers needs improvement.

The tire was unrepairable and they didn't have one in stock at this location so they drove to another location to get the tire I needed. They went above and beyond to help me in a true bind and were very kind along the way.

I've been a customer at this Les Schwab location for years, but after my most recent experience, I…read morehave to warn others to be extra careful--especially if you're on a tight budget. I brought my car in for a tire rotation, and when I picked it up, the service advisor immediately told me (more than once) that I had over-torqued my lug nuts and that they would need to replace a damaged lug nut--for an extra $100. As a single dad at the time, $100 was not something I could easily absorb. While I was walking back into the building, one of their own service technicians pulled me aside and quietly let me know what really happened: they broke the lug nut off while removing the tire and handed the broken piece to me. When I got to the counter and confronted the advisor, he actually told me the car came in missing that lug nut. I showed him the broken piece right there and called him out on it. He wasn't happy, but they ended up replacing it for free. This was the third time they tried to charge me for a "new lug nut" on my vehicle. I'm glad I got the truth from the tech in the back, but it's clear this isn't a one-off mistake. If you go to this location, double-check your lugs before and after service, take photos, and don't be afraid to ask questions. They eventually made it right, but the initial attempt to blame the customer and charge for their own error left a really bad taste. Just be on your guard.

I was told they can see what can be done by setting up an appointment. I come in for my appointment with specifications on camber, caster, and toe. I even had a printout of the specs I need dialed in. The service representative checked me in for my appointment and took my sheet of alignment specs. Right as I was leaving the door the service tech abruptly comes back from the shop telling it is their policy that they are not allowed to go beyond manufacturers specifications. I told the service tech that other Firestones in the Seattle area were able to accommodate alternative specs in the past. He stated that the other shops bent their policy rules. I personally have never heard of this. My aftermarket control arms have built in additional caster unlike factory arms. I believe the alignment tech was being lazy and did not want to spend much time to dial in specific alignment numbers. My current alignment was already in factory specifications but I needed further adjustment for more caster. I drove from downtown Seattle (where I live) to this Renton Firestone for this specific appointment. Whoever set me up initially for the appointment should have been more transparent that they cannot go beyond factory specs even with aftermarket parts that allows so. I paid for lifetime alignments with Firestone. After this experience I will rather pay independent alignment shops each time who can work with their clientele.
