I ate here last weekend and then ordered delivery yesterday. Very happy to have found a nice new place in the neighborhood! I love their Thai iced tea, egg rolls, duck curry, and pork belly dishes. We usually order fried rice for my son and he really liked the tofu version as opposed to the beef. More importantly, my friend who wasn't really into Thai food trusted me to order for her and she was amazed at how good the food was! So we'll be ordering again for sure. I'm Americanized what can I say. The pad Thai was delicious, no complaints. I finished the entire thing! My second time experiencing the food here was through takeout. I ordered the crying tiger, steak strips and sauce, the pad Thai with beef and mango sticky rice. The beef in both dishes had a very strange texture like rubbery almost. It was the weirdest thing. Found this place on Yelp and decided to check it out with my mom. We were very satisfied with their friendly and outstanding customer service; the waitresses were kind and attentive. I was surprised how delicious this Thai spot really was when I first tried it. Their beef dishes, phad thai & phad sew ew, and curry is a must. Their beef is well flavored and tender, the noodles are never dry and their curry is impeccable. It is our typical order when my husband and I come here. It is a VERY small restaurant so you might have to wait. The service is ALWAYS great and the restaurant itself is clean. Ubon is a small restaurant in south Torrance. They serve the best Thai food in the South Bay area, very authentic. I think they had two chefs when they first opened, because the taste wasn't always good. Now, the food is consistently very good. I'm glad we finally have an authentic Thai place in Torrance. Ordered kee mao shrimp just a little under 10 bucks to go, but was a little disappointed it wasn't spicy and I only got three pieces of shrimp. But it was flavorful otherwise. I just love Yelp!! It lead me to Ubon when was in desperate need of some soupy noodles. I ordered duck noodle soup, and I was very hopeful, because everyone working there were fobby. And it did not disappoint! Noodle came in a giant bowl (good portion). Soup base was very flavorful, had a nice brown color to it. I actually prefer this soup base to many other duck noodle soups I've tried in Thai town. For some reason, Thai town places always put liver in their soup and I cannot stand it. My favorite is the Chicken Pad See Ew with added veggies for an extra dollar. The broth is pretty rich leaving me full and thirsty halfway. Celery chunks are in it, so if you are not a fan of biting into pieces, be careful. Pick your noodle- rice,.. I choose rice. And pick how spicy. Mild still had a kick. Pad Thai - good. Got it with shrimp. Pork pad ped- red coconut curry with bell peppers, basil. Good. I got this with brown rice.... I'm glad to have stumbled upon this place, especially given the lack of good Thai restaurants in the South Bay. It's located in the shopping plaza that contains Home Goods and is in the same row as Chipotle, IHOP, and Yogurtland. Prices are reasonable. Entrees are $10-$12. Lunch specials are available and include salad, an egg roll, and rice (the rice only comes with non-noodle dishes), and are $8.50 (or $9.50 with shrimp). There are about a dozen options to choose from, including classics such as pad thai, pad see ew, pad ka prow, various curries, etc. I ended up getting the pad kee mao lunch special and fresh rolls. FRESH ROLLS- Not bad, although a bit too much lettuce and not enough vermicelli. I was a bit taken aback by the appearance of the peanut sauce (it had the texture and color of a mango chutney) but it tasted just fine. EGG ROLL- Nothing to write home about. Less greasy than some egg rolls, but also a bit doughier. PAD KEE MAO WITH CHICKEN- Delicious. Flavorful and fragrant, with just the right level of heat. Service was prompt, but the restaurant was also rather empty when I went thee for lunch. Don't forget to take advantage of the free thai iced tea or iced coffee with Yelp check-in!
