If all I was reviewing was their ability to replace my Pixel 9's screen competently with quick turnaround, 5 stars. But there are dozens of stores in town that can do that. What left me completely frustrated was their inability to communicate in what seems like the minimum for retail phone repair. I took my Pixel 9 to UBreakIfix as it's Google's repair partner. The tech who worked the desk checked TWICE with someone in the back to verify the warranty coverage on my phone's screen, assured me it was covered, produced an estimate receipt with the number $0 as my price and sent me away. Two hours later I get a voicemail with a mumbly messsage about how it wasn't covered by warranty and something.. something on Google's end, and the call ended abruptly. When I called back and I asked if there was anything due, they told me I was on the hook for the $240 replacement cost. I was told they checked with Google AFTER they had completed the repair and was denied warranty coverage. The option offered to me was that they could undo the repair and "I could try my luck with Google's mail-in repair warranty service..." Seems like someone monkeying inside my phone multiple times would definitely affect my chances of getting it covered, so no. Plus the loss of my phone for however long it took Google to mail it back. So I paid my bill and left. I don't know why they denied coverage and UBreakIFix wouldn't tell me, so I guess it doesn't matter. But when your auto mechanic is knee-deep in a transmission replacement and he finds out it's going to be $2000 more dollars to put it all back together. HE GETS ON THE PHONE TO THE CUSTOMER before reassembling the transmission. This is a minimum level of retail communication, not "We can take your transmission back out if that would work better for you." read more

I wish it were possible to give a company less than one star. For the past month and a half, I've been trying to use this company because Google has an issue with their Pixel phone, and the recall fix--replacing a battery--is assigned to this company. I've made appointments and shown up on time three different times over this period, yet my phone still isn't fixed. Each time, they were missing one or both of the required parts for the recall. They had my phone number and appointment on file, but they never called me in advance to let me know they didn't have the parts. Not only was I disappointed, but it seemed everyone in line had a similar problem. During my three visits to their Washington Square location, I never once saw a single person get helped with any issue. I have never encountered such an inept group of people running a store. They were full of excuses for every situation. I watched nothing but people walk in, only to be told they couldn't be helped and leave frustrated. I wish I could say my story was the worst. The man next to me yesterday said he'd been trying to get help there for over six weeks--I'm only three weeks into this ordeal. read more

AVOID THIS STORE AT ALL COST. The worst service I got. I sent the Z fold 5 in on 07/13/24. I showed them the screen was clean and looked brand new with 0 scrachtes, but it was burned, maybe due to battery issue and the weather combined. They promised to call me in 3 hrs. I kept calling them multiple times after 4hrs, but no one answered. I finally could reach them after 6 hrs and they told me my phone had physical damages. The phone was returned with 2 VISIBLE dents and multiple scratches after they removed the factory screen protector WITHOUT letting me know. They told me the scratches were UNDER the screen protector and refused to give me the screen protector for examination. This store, in this case, deserves a 0 star if I could rate that. I was with a horrific provider for years and I am a tragic mess when it comes to modern cell phones since they insist on making them in glass. I am a klutz enough without owning an egg I have to carefully carry around with me. With my old carrier I kept trying to get insurance but in a year I had to replace my screen THREE times at $200 a pop and got the privilege of their next to no office hours at one location on the other side of town. So I would also need to get time off work etc etc... Fast forward to me switching to Verizon and trying to be uber careful with my new model (but still glass) phone and I was!! Seriously, it has been 7 months but I got the insurance at the start figuring that was my talisman to not F up my phone until a few weeks ago when I was walking...and then I wasn't. I have a fancy wallet that protects my glass phone...until it flips open on my journey to the pavement which I swear attacked me! It did... I make the call and was confused when I was told a person would come to me...and I could schedule it at home after work! Wait, what? It would take a few days BUT seriously, when you are coming to me on my schedule ...I can wait! There were rush options for extra etc if your phone is bad and my screen's face was completely fractured but still useable etc. It was actually amusing having it for a week since I legit used it saying, "THIS is how my week is going".... it gets you out of a lot of awkward conversations. The day the person was supposed to come out I received an email from the tech saying that they did not have my screen and I would need to reschedule. I called to do so and got the impression this was a fluke and was offered a rush appointment etc etc...honestly I had a lot scheduled for the few days after and left that day open for the tech so I had to push out nearly a week. Fast forward to the new tech who messaged me that they finished their scheduled appointment early and were close by to see if I wanted them to come out then (it was not even noon) instead of 5pm. I explained that I was at work and they offered to come to my office. I work in a building that is secured and hard to find - they were amazing getting to me and seriously knocked out the repair in less than a half hour! Just wow.... phone looked brand new. read more

I stated needed a whole new Apple Watch screen as it's shattered he again stated can't do it over the phone. It seems like he doesn't want to give a quote so he can possibly either jack up the prices once I'm there or he doesn't want to help wort customer service! Absolutely terrible service. I dropped my phone off for a screen replacement at 11am, and wasn't ready for pickup until 7pm. After being told it would only take 4 hours, they told me to come back in another 2 hours becayse they never started the repair. After the screen was replaced, my front camera became extremely blurry and stopped working. I had less problems before I got it "fixed". This review will be posted on all platforms, and will be posted on social media to spread awareness about this company. WILL NO LONGER HAVE ANY REPAIRS DONE AT THIS LOCATION AND I ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO DO THE SAME. Update: BBB has been notified. More expensive than the Apple Store for an iPhone battery replacement. ($109 vs $89) I'd have expected it to be cheaper than the Apple Store. Should have taken about an hour, but they promised it to have it ready in 2.5 hours. Okay fine. They were still 30 minutes late. And the weird store front is always like a ghost town... except at the end of the day when everyone who was promised to get their phones backs by the end of the day is waiting... All that said.... Only a couple days after leaving my review about my negative experience one of the owners of ubreakifix took the time to personally call me to ask me about my experience and how they can improve. He was kind, apologized, listened, and let me know he will personally address the communication issue i experienced about not being told when to pick up my phone. I am very impressed the owner would take the time to call me, and i will be using ubreakifix again in the future. The work they did on my phone was great. My husband shattered his phone the other day, and was luckily able to get it repaired here. BUT the cost phone fixing it was astronomical for the make and model year of the phone, and in addition the staff CHARGED HIM TWICE, after claiming the first charge did not go through. I discovered this after reviewing our statement online, and confirmed with the bank that it was in fact two completely separate charges. I took my phone to Youbreakifix to have the battery replaced. When they returned it, the screen was black and blotchy. They offered to replace the screen, but once they did, the fingerprint reader no longer worked. I returned the phone to them and they told me that they would have to replace the screen again. They kept the phone for 3 weeks, and since they never called, we stopped by their storefront to retrieve the phone. They didn't replace the screen as promised and they now say that it's a software issue, and not their concern. This has been a 2-month long ordeal, and now I just have to live with it? read more

I can't say much.. I had a phone with a battery that was inflating, and I went to this location to have them fix it. They said they'd order a new battery, which would probably arrive in 3-5 days. I've called them a couple times about it but they said they hadn't received the battery yet, and I've heard nothing after 2 and a half weeks. The good: they did fix my laptop and charged me a reasonable amount. All of my interactions with staff were pleasant. The not-so-good: they didn't return voicemails i left and i heard different things from different employees about when the repair would be completed, which is exasperating. I had my screen in my slightly older iphone go out on me. I first went to the Apple store at Washington Square. Big mistake. They made me wait for hours, had me try to unlock an account I hadn't used in a while, only to then attempt to get me to buy a new one for a lot more. I ran over here after a quick yelp search and it was a good decision. They were friendly and told me they could easily just replace the screen for cheaper than I was expecting. And the best part was, when I asked for any way to rush they told me they'd squeeze it in that day and 3 hours later I have it working. Long term I may eventually get a new one but for a quick fix this was an an absolute lifesaver!! read more

iPad Air charged via keyboard but not charging port due to water damage. After analysis by U.B.I.F. (and 3 weeks) the device was deemed "non-repairable". But it also no longer charged through the keyboard... a totally useless machine at this point. No compensation offered. Communication and Service at this store also needs work. read more

Horrible and dishonest service from Washington square branch. The glass back was repaired nicely but they left 2 big scratches on the OEM screen protector that I know wasn't from the impact that cracked the glass back on my Samsung note 10+. I literally remember handing my phone to them with minor scratches and a cracked glass back from the initial impact. When I say minor I mean the all scratches were less than 2cm. Recieved it back to find the glass back repaired but two NEW BIG gashes on the top right corner. I could feel the scratches, it was that deep. It looked like someone took a knife and marked an "X" .5 inch in length across the top right corner of my screen, the repair tech was probably a monkey with this level of workmanship. They tried to play it off like it was my fault, like I had a memory of a gold fish. I knew the exact condition of my phone 20 minutes ago pre-repair, I don't have short term memory loss bud. Something along the lines of "oh yeah, that was already there before." Totally dishonest. This is when I knew what kind of business I was dealing with and I'm disappointed in myself that I got suckered into paying full price for a botched job. Luckily, the scratches didn't go through when I replaced the screen protector. No more slice marks on the top right corner of my screen. Overall bad experience, never again, should've not repaired my phone here if I knew a noob was going to mess up the corner of my screen. This place charged me $250 bucks for a set of non genuine screens but did charge me for genuine apple parts. They did not make the same day timeline guarantee (meaning you have to come back the next day) and made up excuses for it. I now am the proud owner of an apple iPhone without logo on the back and with messages telling me I have unsupported screens. And Apples warranty is gone because of this. My advice: Avoid this place and instead go to an authorized apple store for genuine parts. You will pay less and keep Apple's warranty on your device. read more

I would not recommend this place. I have friend that has been using this place for his phone and I must say this place has shown no care or thought for the customer. My friend will go there for one problem with his phone, they supposedly will fix it, but then my friend finds a new problem with his phone the same day that wasn't there before. Such as hair in the camera lens or the screen not fitting on right. They don't call for updates or give the customers any kind of information. I went to this store to get the battery of my Pixel 3 replaced. I could have done it myself but didn't feel confident about it since I had not done this myself on this model before. My phone was working perfectly well, I just wanted to get a new battery to have to charge my phone less often. When they gave me my phone back, green lines started showing on the screen and I had to disable the Google Assistant which was activating on its own all the time. I was furious. Not to mention that their assistant told me it would take 2 hours to replace the battery and when I came back to the store at the time they indicated, they had not done anything. They obviously got the job done as I was waiting. I had to spend 30 minutes in the lobby, not knowing when the phone will be ready. When I brought up the issue on the screen and the Google Assistant, right here in the store, the assistant told me to come back the day after because they were going to close in 30 minutes and didn't have time to fix the problem. I didn't have a car at the time so for me to come back into the store was going to be very difficult. I asked instead for a refund for the $100 they charged me for this horrible job but got trapped into a spiral of useless emails with customer support. After a few months, the new battery that they put in my phone exploded. I will never ever go to any uBreakiFix franchise store in my life. The experience was terrible, the work faulty to the point where my phone became a hazard, and the customer support a joke. Nothing to redeem. Don't go to this store. read more

Just had my back glass repaired on white iPhone. They offered to do black, but I said no. I told them I was trading the phone in as soon as it was repaired to Verizon. It was supposed to take 4 hours so my daughter and I spent 4 hrs wandering the mall and stayed close by their store instead of driving 45 mins home. We went back 4 hours later and he said he had just removed the cracked glass and it would take 2 more hours. So I sent my husband two hours later since the 6 hour fix would make me late to pick up my daughter. Then my husband brought the phone back and they put a solid white back on, with no apple logo which they said it would have. Hopefully Verizon doesn't reject my trade in. I made it clear it was being traded in, they should have known it needed to be fixed correctly. read more
