I got my first ever spray tan here at U-CA. I came in with 3 of my friends on a Sunday around 3. The girl at the front (didn't get her name) was very nice and it looked like she was the only one working there during the time I went. It was super busy once we got there. There were maybe like 15 people that came in while we were there waiting for each other to get our spray tans. I think 2 of my friends, plus myself, had never gotten a spray tan before. They have a special on Sundays that is $20 for a spray tan. My friend told me it used to be $10 on Sundays but they got new equipment and products or something like that. The girl at the front looked at our ID's and started getting our bottles ready. I got medium with an accelerator and the scent "summer dream". The accelerator ($7) accelerates the process so you are able to shower in 4 hours instead of 6-8, but the color doesn't show right away since it goes on clear. The scent was $2. My friends got a bronzer ($4) instead of the accelerator, which makes the color show up right away. I was the first out of my friends to go in, but it was a cool process. I admit I was a little scared of being super orange after, but we'll see how the color shows up later. It was a good experience overall! Thank you U-CA-TAN! read more

People have posted on here what a hassle it is to cancel their membership and the staff is always rude about it or they still get charged or whatever. My experience was just fine. I am not white, I am pasty. I have been heckled at a beach and told that I needed SPF 100. So I have decided to spray tan. Yep. You read this correctly. It has been about an hour. I have become increasingly dark....hoping to avoid Ompa Loompa status. I actually mentioned to the attendant that I don't want to look even slightly ommpa loompa-ish in nature. The funniest thing about this place is the fact that the very nice lady that provided me instructions informed me that if I forgot any of the instructions, I could reference the list on the wall. Number 1: take off clothing. Apparently there is a small contingent that can't figure out that they shouldn't spray tan with their clothes on. I was pleased with the place and while I paid 25 bucks, it's good to know I can go on Sunday and go for 10. The process is quick and painless. I've been coming here for a while now. This place is VERY clean. Nicole M is always sooo nice and smiling. I saw here cleaning the beds and she did not miss a spot! A client of mine goes here also and said the same thing. I'd recommend this place to my friends and family. Great salon, the girls that work there are always extremely helpful and sweet. I used to go to another salon in Los Alamitos and I always felt like an outcast when I went in without a tan and I don't get that here. The prices are extremely reasonable for the beds/services and always have good deals on buying multiple services at once. Help me understand what a $130 per month membership buys me? It SHOULD buy me a tan where all bulbs are working in the bed. New record....you put me in a bed with 7, yep you read that right, 7 bulbs out in bed 4!!! That is completely unacceptable. This was on the heels of another woman coming out of bed 1 saying the main face bulb was out. Terrible service and terrible experience! Make it right-fix the one thing your providing a service with! Unbelievable! This particular location has a history of not having bulbs working and I'm done tolerating it! You're not the only tanning place in Huntington Beach and I'll be sure to take my hard earned money somewhere else. I am a woman of color so of course was a bit reluctant to get a spray tan. What if it didn't work and I ended up wasting my money?? Well, let me tell you, it worked! I got the darkest service and the tan happened gradually, it took a few hours for me to go from my natural caramel to a nice mocha. My friend and I both went the day before we got pictures done on the beach. Best part-- the spray tan is done in a machine so you don't have to worry about standing there while someone sprays you. read more

Worthless! I paid to come and they called to cancel me with no explanation. I asked Danielle the Manager WHY my subscription was being cancelled and she said "because your friend who referred you gave us a 1 star review on yelp" REALLY? SERIOUSLY? They advertise when you refer a friend you get $10 and so does your friend. My friend did not get $10 for referring me neither did I get $10 for being a referee. WHO I mean, WHAT business in 2016 cancels your subscription "because your friend gave us a 1 star review and we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone." I felt like a black person in 1960 in the south, that's how I felt! I wouldn't be surprised if their 5 star reviews on here are from friends and families of employees. I've asked to speak with Dirk the owner but he has not returned my call. Now let's see if they refund me money money they owe me as they promised. I wouldn't waste my time here. To begin I will state that I am a little afraid to post this because I have been warned that negative remarks = kicked out no longer wanted as a client. So lets see what happens. Nicole is wonderful. If not for her I would have cancelled my membership long ago. She is the only sane, efficient, common sense employee I have had the pleasure of dealing with here. She can schedule you into several services in one visit with limited wait time in between. (This seems to be out of the realm of reality for every other employee). Nicole is always smiling and cheerful. She is like a little bit of sunshine! Kaylee is the opposite! Thank goodness she is not usually at the Beach Blvd. location. I had the awful experience of being checked in by her. It was in the evening and she was rude. She seemed to have a personal dislike for me (although we have never me). I felt so terrible dealing with her I left without using any service. Alex is like a deer in headlights. I went in to use two services: red light and tanning bed. I ask for a specific bed because of some back issues. The tanning bed was in use so I was put into the red light bed. There was no other people in the waiting room and two rooms were being used, rooms 4 and 8. When I finished in the red light bed I walked to waiting room and at the same time a man walked in the front door. I waited while he checked in. He was told to have a seat his room would be ready in about 10-12 minutes. I walked up to the desk and she looked at me like she did not remember checking me in 15 minutes ago. She asked what I wanted to do and I reminder her of my request. She just looked at me for a few seconds and seemed uncomfortable. She then says there is a long wait for my requested bed! What? There are three people in the place! One in the tanning bed, me and the man that just came in the front door. She told me that someone had just went into the requested bed and the man was also waiting for the bed so it would be about 30 minutes. I was frustrated. I asked why she had not made note that I was waiting for that bed and I had checked in already and should have been put in the bed. She could see the time remaining on the red light bed and she had to know to put me in the tanning bed next. She just looked blank. I left without tanning. Now do not get me wrong I know a bed cannot set empty waiting for me; but if I check in and list the services I am here for why is there a problem with efficient scheduling. If she put someone in the requested tanning bed the last 2 minutes of my red light bed shutting off---come on! I have been told that someone is going into a bed when I arrive. I understand that if someone is there ahead of me and are using two or more services they are in line ahead of me. The scheduling is a problem if you are doing more that one service. Nicole is the only person who seems to use her ability to keep customers moving with the least amount of excessive waiting in between each service. read more

When I have done other spray tans, they made me look like Magda from There's Something About Mary! But with this place, the Mystic is truly believable! It has a great golden color! LOVE IT! I have been here many times. I started off purchasing the week introduction package, which was about $45 if I can remember correctly, and I could use any bed/service for up to seven days. Obviously I just used the highest pressure beds, which are amazing! The bed in the front gives you great deep color. The stand up bed gives you great all around color getting those tricky places like under your arms and booty cheeks :) Yesterday I went in for a mystic tan because the airbrush tan that I got at a different salon was already coming off after one day! The mystic tan did exactly what I wanted it to do, it made me dark dark dark! The staff is friendly and they have other locations around the OC. read more

I have been going here off and on for 4 years. The place is always clean, the beds always have fresh bulbs. I employees are great. Always smiles and welcomes. They are very good at informing me of the current sales/packages they have to offer. Yet they are not overly pushy on sales. They fully disclose but don't get mad if you decline. I have been going to this U Ca Tan for almost 4 months. I went to U Ca Tan for the Infrared Sauna as I am on a long term detox. I found their sauna to be very invigorating and rejuvenating. Infrared is a deep penetrating heat that creates a profuse sweat (they always provide a cold wet washcloth for a clean cool down after the sauna). I found the facility to be very clean, the staff very professional and friendly. I often call the same day I want an appointment, which works 90% of the time. I also enjoy the red light therapy after a sauna experience. Red light therapy is good for the skin. U Ca Tan is very popular for their different tanning units, of which I do not utilize. They have a great monthly deal (better than anything else I could find in the area) where I pay one fee, and I can go as much as I want, and have access to tanning beds, infrared sauna, and red light therapy. read more

I have recently moved to the OC area from SD and was missing itan. I looked up tanning salons and decided to go with U-CA-TAN since I live at Bella Terra. My oh my what a gem they have unlimited level one tanning for $25 a month. I had previously been ripped off by a company in LA called tanman so I was cautious signing any type of contract. I read it and cancellations can be made whenever. The beds are nice and clean and the staff is super friendly. I also like that they have constant deals going on so if I do decide to try a different bed or get a spray I can be sure to get a bargain. read more

Really trying to like this place. Last few spray tans I've gotten, really not satisfied with the results. At all. Just not very "dark"..- for what you're paying, it's kinda rediculous. Not to mention the customer service is the worst (other than the convenience it's near my house I'd never come here)- the girl (blonde) never explains what the hell is going on. Levels, scents, etc. Super snotty & unfriendly. So basically feel like I'm getting ripped off. Where is the owner????? Just disappointed. My baby shower is Saturday, trying to do all I can to make myself feel fabulous, and yea, this place is definitely not really helping in this department. Hire some new staff! I've been going to another tanning Salon for a few years but they close down about a year ago so I decided to try U CA TAN. I am so sorry that I was using the other place!! U CA TAN is great! All the girls are knowledgable and very sweet. Danielle yhe manager is so down go earth and friendly. Even if I come racing in 5 min. before closing they always let me tan. They have a great variety of lotions to buy and if you buy one you don't like they give you no hassle exchanging it for another one. I can't say anything bad about this place. I LOVE IT!! read more

I recommend the Mystic Tan HD. It gives a look almost as if you were professionally airbrushed, nice deep color, and lasted the longest if any other mystic tan or Versa Spa I've had. After recently moving to the area I was looking for a great tanning salon. I tried a couple in the area and wasn't impressed either by the customer service, enthusiasm and overall bed selections. Pretty much all they had were "throw back beds" from 10 years ago. So I walked into UCA Tan and right away I was impressed. The girl managing the front was receptive, awake and when I said I was a newbie- she instantly said let me give you a tour. They have one old school bed, red light therapy beds, sauna, spray tan booths, stand-ups, level 3's and swanky level 4's. Not to mention they have a new bed that is only a year old that is top of the line. Everything was new like, clean and modern. A lot of tanning salons are stuck in the 90's but this tanning salon is legit. I was also impressed that they are open until 9pm! Works out great for those nights you work late or need a last minute spray for a night out on the town. I would highly recommend this salon! Reasonable prices for a great value! read more

Been a long time customer of U-Ca-Tan until they remodeled the salon. My wife and I always had no problems tanning with their low pressure beds and then they took all but one out and didn't give us a notice. The girl at the front desk acted like she could care less and proceeded to help another customer. She wanted us to upgrade to the next beds without compensating or warning us. Talked to Danielle the manager but to no avail did not help us. We are now at our New tanning salon HB Tan and loving it. Very Disappointed U-Ca-Tan. read more

I just recently signed up for a membership here and I thought I could give some feedback. I am currently a olive skin ton which isn't necessarily the darkest I like to be so I walked in ready to sign up for a membership. Being that this was my first time tanning and I would be spending a lot of money I had several questions. When I first came in I noticed there was no one at the front, so I waited until finally a girl got to the register. I didn't get her name but she was a small asian girl. I started asking her questions about the different tanning beds, pricing, and what expectations I should have for each bed(wanted to know how tan I get from each bed). I noticed that she wasn't really excited about having a client walk in with many questions, she even made a comment to me about how most people don't ask her so much stuff. While I'm not upset that she didn't have much knowledge about the different tanning beds, I didn't really like how she seemed annoyed and gave attitude with each question I asked. If I can rate this place just based of customer service I would give it a one star. I could tell that this girl didn't like her job, didn't have customer service skills, didn't have knowledge on tanning, and wasn't friendly. Now for the actual tanning experience.I liked it! I used the Luxor bed for 12 minutes and with my first session I already noticed a difference. I liked how they give you protection for your eyes( I thought they would charge for that), they had music playing as you tan, and the room was spacious as well as the bed. I would say that this place is expensive but I honestly think no matter where I go to tan I'm going to be spending a lot of money. I guess its worth it if you really like being tan, which I do prefer. If they can hire more customer friendly staff I think would give it more of a three to four star experience. Maybe next time I come in there will be a nicer staff member. read more
