I love sushi, but my partner does not. Do they have dishes available for people who don't eat raw fish or raw meat? Anything cooked that's not sushi? The menu is a bit difficult to understand.

They have many cooked items that are delicious. Not everything is raw but I wouldn't suggest Omakase "Chef's choice" because it is mostly raw

I see in curbside menu that there's Omakase for $150.... if that for one person or is that a bundle because it mentions for two?

We didn't have the Omakase curbside, but dined in. They're small plates, so the dishes will prob avg 2 pieces or so.

I noticed recent pictures of to go sushi it doesn't look good. Could they serve with ice? After all it's raw fish and ice isn't a huge overhead.

Upscale casual. I wouldn't go here in shorts and flip flops, but the crowd is definitely on the dressier side. They're pretty relaxed, so a cool hipster vibe works well too.

Yes, there are two bars, one that's geared more to drinking but you can still order food and then the sushi bar, which is where you want to be obviously. the earlier you go, the easier it is to get a good spot. You might have to wait 10-15 minutes…

Generally the wait isn't very long these days. I just went 2 Wednesdays ago, and we just happened to get there 5 minutes before opening (wasn't really trying to get there early), and we were third in line. Seated immediately.

They have a beautiful patio with swings to enjoy the nice weather when we get it in Houston. The concept here, as you go to the bar and order your food, you find a table and when the food is ready they bring it to your table. 5 Stars - Authentic Szechuan that absolutely nails the classics…read more During our short trip to Houston, as a custom, we were determined to find real Szechuan food, and luckily we found Hu's Kitchen. The location is a bit unassuming, and parking is definitely tough (the spaces are very shallow), but the second we walked through the doors and smelled the Szechuan peppercorns, I knew we were in exactly the right place. I generally judge a Szechuan restaurant by their 夫妻肺片 (Fuqi Feipian)--which they cleverly name "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" on the menu. They completely nailed it. The beef, tripe, and tendon were incredibly cohesive together, yet you could tell each component was prepared and marinated in a slightly different way to perfectly highlight its specific texture. The chili oil was right on the spot. We went through a massive bowl of rice just eating this dish alone. Honestly, if I weren't feeding a family of four, I could have just ordered that and been perfectly happy. While the Fuqi Feipian proves their skill with dry dishes, the 水煮魚片 (Fish in Szechuan Hot Chili Oil) proves their skill with wet ones. It's another must-order. The execution was flawless--we didn't just finish the tender fish chunks, we ate every last piece of cabbage soaked in that incredible chili broth. For my two daughters who can't handle the heat, we ordered the fried rice, garlic pork ribs with onion, and the 紅燒獅子頭 (Giant Meatball with Cabbage). The giant meatball was spectacular. The kids completely devoured it on their own, but I managed to steal a bite, and it instantly brought back childhood memories of exactly how this dish is supposed to taste. We also had the Dan Dan Noodles, which were great and rounded out the meal perfectly. I loved all of the dishes we tried. Should we ever find ourselves in Houston again, we will absolutely be revisiting this hidden gem.

I know Chinese tends to be oily but this pancake soaked up way too much oil. Half a Peking duck: super great price for so much meat. The difficulty when eating this dish is gnawing the meat off the sharp bones of the duck. Mapo Tofu with white rice: pretty easy staple, no complaints here. Dinner on a Saturday was packed but we got seated quickly and food arrived fast.

We also tried the viral crab rangoon burrito. It was heavily filled with cream cheese and not much crab. You definitely need to dip the sauce to pair with the creaminess, otherwise you would not taste anything besides fried cream cheese. Overall, I will say that this is not for me. But the staff were friendly and the service was good.

I thought maybe it was just a bad day, but I am still suffering from this. I have to use the toilet many times a day, and I feel so nauseous. My boss ordered a salad that had the same veggies that came with the pan seared duck breast about a week ago, and also had diarrhea. He pieced two and two together. We believe that it's the veggies. I am worried that what I have is the parasite that's going around right now, cyclosporiasis. On another note, I wanted to try their specials. The lamb gyozas were okay. I didn't really like the skin of the gyoza, seemed a bit oily. I was excited to try the pan seared duck breast, but I found it to be a bit overcooked than what I usually have at other restaurants. A bit dry, kinda chewy, but the blueberry sauce was good. The salad that came on the side was good, but I believe that's what gave me diarrhea.

I also thought the flavor could've been a bit stronger. Service/Ambiance: the interior of this place was super cute, especially the upstairs area. I loved the dim lighting and tiny table lamps which gave this place a cozy romantic feeling. The outside was also interesting with an all black exterior and no sign. That might make it hard to notice or find the restaurant, but that did give it a more hidden feeling which was nice. Parking was also abundant and service was great!
