Found this place by accident and how fortunate a find! Authentic, quiet and well-priced. Clean and conversations can be shared without interference by music or kitchen noise. A little hard to find because it's right on Hayden, not the strip rows behind, but worth the discovery. Joshua was helpful in explaining the dishes and personalizing the level of spices. Quick, cooked on the spot. Small but comfortable and friendly. My friends and I ate over two hours without any problems or rush out. Does a very busy task-out service. What fantastic food. We found it on google, not being familiar with the area yet and we were pleasantly surprised. My family and I were recently in Scottsdale for a conference. we stumbled on this place and were so glad we did! The food so fresh and delicious! We ordered many things from the yellow curry to orange chicken to coconut ice cream with fried banana!! Everything we ordered was great and reasonably priced. Ordered the beef salad and the fresh shrimp rolls and was so glad as it filled the hunkering for Thai food. I've never seen such massive fresh/spring rolls! In fact I was so full from the salad that I refrigerated the rolls and had them the next day as a separate meal. They were so good with the peanut sauce. Will definitely order those every time. Also was really happy with the beef salad as they took the extra time and care to set the beef aside. I ended up putting the beef - juices and all - into the greens part and mixed the juices into the lettuce, and was happy about that choice too. Next time will order the green papaya. My first impression is that it is a typical Thai restaurant a little small but it was consistently busy. I ordered the "Thom Ka Gai" or "Coconut Soup" it was a little salty but it has a good taste otherwise and a great mixture of vegetables as well. The "Gaeng Dang" or "Red Curry" was a disappointment. It was low on flavor. And the chicken was dry. The rice was also too wet. Jasmine rice is supposed to be light but not stuck together. Ok what? This was the worst Thai food I have ever had AND THAI FOOD IS MY FAVORITE FOOD. We got the much raved over Fresh rolls and they were fresh and that's about it. Totally flavorless mostly lettuce and the peanut sauce was straight up mixed with corn syrup it was so sweet. I got vegetarian pad see ewe and I couldn't get over how it smelled like greesy rotisserie chicken somehow? The veggies in it did not taste fresh. I asked for a 3.5 out of 4 on the spicy scale and I got a zero. Not a single chili flake. Our waitress must not have understood what I said but she didn't skip a beat while taking our orders so I expected to get something spicy. My husband got the yellow curry which was spicy as he ordered a 3. The broth was almost powdery and had pumpkin in it which is unusual for yellow curry. I am always disappointed when they serve normal cheap rice with curry instead of Jasmine rice so once again - another disappointment with our meal. There were only 3 tables filled in the whole restaurant but our waitress seemed stressed and rushed and never refilled our waters, good thing we didn't get fountain drinks or it would have been a bigger deal to me. So I was referred to this place while I was on a business trip and it seems as if.... I don't know, I've had a lot of curry before and this one is just a little bit different. I ordered Shrimp Panang Curry and that is a red curry with the peanut sauce added in for a unique rich taste. This just tastes like red curry with actual peanuts in it instead of sauce. To put actual peanuts in the curry, I've never seen it like that before... None the last the spice levels were good, it was hearty and in the near future, I will go back and try something else in the near future and the service is better then the what I've are really received they will then get 5 stars. read more

La's occupies the former Pho Tay Do space though they have done a great job of updating with wood paneling and paint. The Mr and I love Thai food so it's been on our radar for some time. So after finally trying it we've decided it's our new favorite Thai place. The elements are working to their benefit.. friendly service, great prices and large portions of high quality ingredients. We started with 2 salads, huge mistake. The salads are so large that we could have just split one but no.. we ordered the Larb (ground meat salad) as well as the Yum-Woon-Sen (ground meat and glass noodle salad). Just a heads up, if you don't like fish sauce be sure to ask them not to use it. We also asked for them to be hot.. you'll have to love spice cause these are HOT!!.. I had tears running down my face, it was so spicy! Awesome!! Both salads were tasty just make sure you ask about the fish sauce. We also tried the Fresh Rolls.. you know the drill, rice paper housing noodles shrimp etc.. these were very fresh and tasty though the peanut dipping sauce was phenomenal! Then paired with the roasted chile powder added a complex smokiness to each bite.. Ill be going back for these for sure!! Entree's.. the Mr ordered Pad Thai, while very very good it was still just pad Thai.. I ordered Kang-Kra-Ri which was a yellow curry with tofu, coconut milk, pumpkin, potatoes and onions.. oh hell yeah! This was one of the best curries Ive had in a very long time! Decent Thai food in Scottsdale. Of course, where I'm from, La's wouldn't last. This is Scottsdale and for that, La's was good enough in my books. After 3-4 days of non-Asian food on Spring Break in Arizona....we were in need of some Thai food bad. We found La's less than 2 miles away from the Scottsdale Stadium area. The service was good, plenty of parking and credit card ok. Pad Thai...good and decent (a bit on the sweet side), Pad See Ew was good and then basil mint ground chicken (graa-pow) was decent. This was our first time to La's and we were not disappointed! Service was fast and friendly and the food was great. We had the fresh rolls (they were HUGE and the peanut sauce was perfect), steamed dumplings, veggie spring rolls (best I've had in AZ in 12 years), yellow chicken curry, pad thai and Thai fried rice. I ordered pad thai with chicken to go one night after work. I was super excited to eat it when I got home but it was pretty bland.. it was all just OK. I asked for it to be medium spicy and it was sorta spicy.. but in a flavorless way if that makes sense? My absolute favorite Thai food spot in the valley! It doesn't look like much and is in a strip mall, but I find that these are some of the best places to eat. They have amazing curry from their Red to their Yellow you cannot go wrong! Ordering to go a curry lasts me 3 days so serving sizes are great! The pad Thai is good their curry noodles are outstanding. Their Thai tea is magical. There is nothing here that I have had that has been mediocre or bad. I would have gone with two stars but after gagging on the pad thai that smelled like garbage and was so hot it was inedible, I asked for it to be removed and removed from our check. I was told I had to pay half price for the food that we ordered mild and was served hell-hot. The restaurant smells of ammonia or bleach or something pungent upon entering. Some of my favorites are Pad Thai(rice noodles with shrimp, chicken, egg, green onion, sprouts and peanuts) Chow Mein(egg noodles with meat and mixed vegetables) Yellow Curry(shrimp/chicken in a yellow curry paste mixed with coconut milk, onions, potatoes, carrots and pumpkin) Garlic and pepper Shrimp Fried Shrimp(batter fried served with a sweet and sour sauce some carrots and broccoli) I think they also have a few lunch specials.This place is definitely worth a try if you have some Thai food craving on a chilly winter evening. I'm conflicted. This place is super close to my house, the staff is super friendly, and they always have my to-go order ready when they promise. They've never messed up an order and the food is always fresh. The problem is I always end up with a headache after eating the food, so they must be using the dreaded MSG. So if that doesn't affect you, you will totally love this place...but it does affect me, to the tune of raging headaches. I always get the red curry with extra vegetables and no meat, medium spice.
