Tried udupi buffet on Sunday. Honestly not many tables were filled. It's all vegetarian food with limited choices compared to other restaurants. But food was pretty decent for whatever the choices they offered. Their punugulu, pongal, puri, naan, paneer curries and vermicelli desserts were good. Rest are just ok. Dosas are included that are made fresh but unfortunately they didn't taste good although looked perfect. Could be just a wrong batch. Service is fine no issues. But ambiance need to be improved. Lacks liveliness. Priced at $13.99 for a buffet, it's not bad at all but could improve a bit more.

We were in the mood for some Indian Food and this place didn't disappoint. I ordered the Kurma and a garlic naan. The main dish was spiced to perfection, nice kick, mature flavor, good consistency. The garlic naan was phenomenal, ended up ordering another batch because I could not put it down. We did dine-in and the service was good. There were a number of very hostile delivery app drivers during our visit which was not cool, I don't blame the restaurant at all! This isn't fast food, quality takes time. Very much a hole in the wall and that's the vibe. We will be back!

This place is definitely a hole in the wall. You've got an extremely dirty exterior, the interior also has broken chairs, unused large appliances, and a bunch of cleaning supplies on one of the tables. Also note that that their prices on their official website are incorrect. Their actual prices are way more expensive when you actually go to the store. Note that they have a buffet but we have no idea when it happens as it's not mentioned on their website nor their in-store menu. Their menu is some hastily written basic Excel table of items that have no pictures. Most of their bigger stuff costs $15 so I got a coconut rice dish while my crony ordered some curry and a naan. Our whole order came out to $47 (includes tax and tip). The food itself is plentiful and of slightly above average quality.

Serious health concern. Their items in the buffet are spoiled. The potato was smelling bad, the chutney was bad, dosa was sour as if batter was like 2 weeks old. Look at the coffee color, 97% milk with 2 drops of coffee semi warm. This is the 3rd time I complained them about the spoiled food. This place should be banned by food regulators. (...and this would be my last visit here) P.S: "urban district" offers amazing buffet fresh made 25+ items for just 16$ I did not want to , but you ll be served. Watch out .

We came for the buffet on Saturday and the food was quite good. Some things I think could be improved: - label the food. We weren't sure what the buffet items were and I hate to waste by taking something I won't like. Four items were labeled but no others were. - food delivery - we learned that a dosa comes with the buffet but it arrived at our table after we had finished eating. - ambiance - there is none at all - it's a large room with tables. Would I come back? Probably yes because I really do enjoy this food.

I live very close to Udupi and this place has been on my list to try for a while. We hoped to go for the lunch buffet so we went during the lunch hours. Unfortunately they didn't have the buffet when we went. Overall, there are some really great flavors going on and if you're vegetarian or vegan this is a definite must try. Pros: - large enough portions to share - fantastic flavors - food was prepared quickly and freshly - we read online that the Chili Gobi dish is a good choice so we ordered that. Indeed it was! The cauliflower in that dish came out with a nice crunchy texture and was spicy yet slight sweetness of the sauce. - samosas were solid - garlic paratha is like naan but not as fluffy/thick. More like a cross between naan & tortilla. It was filled with a lot of garlic and that's a major plus for me. - coconut rice is just as it sounds, very coconut-y. Cons: - lunch buffet is only Friday, Saturday, & Sunday so plan accordingly. - we spent a good amount of time looking over the menu since there are a lot of choices. When we placed our order the waitress told us 2 out of 3 things we wanted to get were not available. This was not a problem but it would be good to tell us when we arrived if they can't make certain dishes.

I was in Scottsdale hanging out with friends and craving Indian & 1 of them recommended Udupi Restaurant which was 10 minutes away. I placed an order online & drove over to pick it up. Vegetable samosas - which I didn't get & I'm super pissed. Instead I got something that looks like chickpeas with tomatoes and onions. It was bland & I'm super pissed about my damn samosas Chilli gobi Cauliflower with sautéed with garlic, ginger chili and soy sauce. This is probably my favorite appetizer to get from Indian restaurants & it was definitely underwhelming. I've definitely had better. Vegetable vindaloo Chickpeas and mixed vegetables in a silky curry sauce. It was ok I've definitely had better. I'm definitely never taking food advice from this friend again. $35 plus tip wasted. smh With my order screwed up & subpar food I definitely won't be back.

Server came over with his notepad and looked at us to take orders, didn't say a word. When he brought the dishes, a few minutes later, he literally plopped all of them in one spot in the table without making any attempt to remember which dish went to which person. Very odd behavior The dishes on the menu are clearly marked vegetarian, vegan or contains meat. We had two dishes that were supposed to be vegan, one was a saag dish which they had placed butter over the top of. It looked delicious to everyone, but the vegans who could not eat it. When we pointed it out, they made no attempt to offer us another dish and just said oh yes, that's ghee (clarified butter) we said the menu indicated it was vegan, but again no response. The two vegans at our table just decided rather than argue, they will share the rice dish, which was also indicated as vegan. As they started to eat it, they realized there were several pieces of paneer in it. I really hope this was a one off because this was one of my favorite places to eat Indian food. Very very disappointing and no accommodation for the inedible dishes.

Yes, that was a lot of food. Yes, I know what you're thinking. And no... we didn't take anything home. Why? BECAUSE WE ATE EVERY. LAST. BITE. Typically my family eats, then takes leftovers home for later, but we genuinely could not stop eating. The first thing that came out was the Lamb Tikka Supreme Pizza and OH MY HEAVENS... that combination was insane in the BEST way possible. We got the 16" large, so our party of six got about two slices each, and honestly? Who knew curry on pizza would work THIS well? So creative and SO flavorful. Then we tried the naan taco and Masala fries because... well... IT'S A NAAN TACO. I HAD TO. And let me just say: both somehow exceeded every expectation I already had. Usually when restaurants try fusion combinations like this, one part falls behind -- maybe the texture is off or the flavors don't fully come together -- but they absolutely perfected it here. Every bite had crunch, crispiness, flavor, and balance. And being able to wash it all down with a creamy mango lassi??? Ughhhh somebody pinch me, I'm in paradise. (The mango lassis were in the fridge by the ice cream, by the way.) Of course I also had to try the classic butter chicken because I judge places by how well they execute the classics... and WOW. God dammit, it was magnificent. Don't even get me started on the perfectly buttery, crispy naan. Or the samosa chaat, which was super filling but somehow still had this refreshing sauce that kept making me go back for another bite. For dessert we ordered Gajar Halwa, Matka Kulfi, and Kesar Pista. Honestly? I had NO idea what any of those were when I ordered them. But now that I've tried all three (and they were ALL amazing), here's how I'd describe them: Gajar Halwa tastes like carrot cake filling had a relationship with rice pudding and caramelized milk flavors... and then BOOM Gajar Halwa was born. Matka Kulfi is served in a clay pot and has a creamier, denser texture than regular ice cream. It has a frozen condensed milk cheesecake type of energy. Kesar Pista (saffron and pistachio) tasted like pistachio gelato with floral vanilla-honey notes. Overall: 10/10. The food came out with perfect timing despite us ordering enough food to feed a mini army. At the time there only seemed to be two workers and I genuinely have NO idea how they were doing it all. They were preparing our huge order, handling takeout orders, answering phone calls, working the register, AND making fresh naan nonstop. Also... this place is open until 12 AM??? Yeahhhh this is officially being added to my late-night eats list. I approve!!!! 10/10 recommend.
