Tried udupi buffet on Sunday. Honestly not many tables were filled. It's all vegetarian food with limited choices compared to other restaurants. But food was pretty decent for whatever the choices they offered. Their punugulu, pongal, puri, naan, paneer curries and vermicelli desserts were good. Rest are just ok. Dosas are included that are made fresh but unfortunately they didn't taste good although looked perfect. Could be just a wrong batch. Service is fine no issues. But ambiance need to be improved. Lacks liveliness. Priced at $13.99 for a buffet, it's not bad at all but could improve a bit more.

We were in the mood for some Indian Food and this place didn't disappoint. I ordered the Kurma and a garlic naan. The main dish was spiced to perfection, nice kick, mature flavor, good consistency. The garlic naan was phenomenal, ended up ordering another batch because I could not put it down. We did dine-in and the service was good. There were a number of very hostile delivery app drivers during our visit which was not cool, I don't blame the restaurant at all! This isn't fast food, quality takes time. Very much a hole in the wall and that's the vibe. We will be back!

This place is definitely a hole in the wall. You've got an extremely dirty exterior, the interior also has broken chairs, unused large appliances, and a bunch of cleaning supplies on one of the tables. Also note that that their prices on their official website are incorrect. Their actual prices are way more expensive when you actually go to the store. Note that they have a buffet but we have no idea when it happens as it's not mentioned on their website nor their in-store menu. Their menu is some hastily written basic Excel table of items that have no pictures. Most of their bigger stuff costs $15 so I got a coconut rice dish while my crony ordered some curry and a naan. Our whole order came out to $47 (includes tax and tip). The food itself is plentiful and of slightly above average quality.

Serious health concern. Their items in the buffet are spoiled. The potato was smelling bad, the chutney was bad, dosa was sour as if batter was like 2 weeks old. Look at the coffee color, 97% milk with 2 drops of coffee semi warm. This is the 3rd time I complained them about the spoiled food. This place should be banned by food regulators. (...and this would be my last visit here) P.S: "urban district" offers amazing buffet fresh made 25+ items for just 16$ I did not want to , but you ll be served. Watch out .

We came for the buffet on Saturday and the food was quite good. Some things I think could be improved: - label the food. We weren't sure what the buffet items were and I hate to waste by taking something I won't like. Four items were labeled but no others were. - food delivery - we learned that a dosa comes with the buffet but it arrived at our table after we had finished eating. - ambiance - there is none at all - it's a large room with tables. Would I come back? Probably yes because I really do enjoy this food.

I live very close to Udupi and this place has been on my list to try for a while. We hoped to go for the lunch buffet so we went during the lunch hours. Unfortunately they didn't have the buffet when we went. Overall, there are some really great flavors going on and if you're vegetarian or vegan this is a definite must try. Pros: - large enough portions to share - fantastic flavors - food was prepared quickly and freshly - we read online that the Chili Gobi dish is a good choice so we ordered that. Indeed it was! The cauliflower in that dish came out with a nice crunchy texture and was spicy yet slight sweetness of the sauce. - samosas were solid - garlic paratha is like naan but not as fluffy/thick. More like a cross between naan & tortilla. It was filled with a lot of garlic and that's a major plus for me. - coconut rice is just as it sounds, very coconut-y. Cons: - lunch buffet is only Friday, Saturday, & Sunday so plan accordingly. - we spent a good amount of time looking over the menu since there are a lot of choices. When we placed our order the waitress told us 2 out of 3 things we wanted to get were not available. This was not a problem but it would be good to tell us when we arrived if they can't make certain dishes.

I was in Scottsdale hanging out with friends and craving Indian & 1 of them recommended Udupi Restaurant which was 10 minutes away. I placed an order online & drove over to pick it up. Vegetable samosas - which I didn't get & I'm super pissed. Instead I got something that looks like chickpeas with tomatoes and onions. It was bland & I'm super pissed about my damn samosas Chilli gobi Cauliflower with sautéed with garlic, ginger chili and soy sauce. This is probably my favorite appetizer to get from Indian restaurants & it was definitely underwhelming. I've definitely had better. Vegetable vindaloo Chickpeas and mixed vegetables in a silky curry sauce. It was ok I've definitely had better. I'm definitely never taking food advice from this friend again. $35 plus tip wasted. smh With my order screwed up & subpar food I definitely won't be back.

We feel the Old Town location's food, service and prices are superior to the previous DC Ranch location. We came in on a Wednesday night. We arrived and were sat immediately. Shawn our server was very friendly and pleasant. We were never left waiting for service. The menu is pretty vast with many GF and V options. For starters, we ordered the KOREAN FRIED CAULIFLOWER $21 Radish sprouts, rainbow quinoa, snap peas, toasted sesame seeds, korean hot pepper sauce. Wish it was a little more crispy but full of flavor. We also ordered the PEAR + GORGONZOLA FLATBREAD $22. Vintage white cheddar, crisp fried sage, sage pesto. This is a thin crust pizza. The flavors worked well together. For dinner, I ordered the MARKET STREET SHORT RIB MINI TACOS $24 off the starter menus. Cojita, caramelized onions, cilantro crema, micro greens, spicy roasted corn and avocado salsa and black bean salsa. I was surprised at how much meat was in this taco. Super tasty. Super nice and attentive. There were only two people working that I could see, a gentleman who may have been the manager and a young lady. The man was so respectful and helpful when we said it was our first time. He pulled out the menu and went through it with us. The wall menu is also super helpful. As the tacos are mostly over $6 each, I noticed they have a combo for two tacos, a side and a drink. Great deal if you add two tacos, guac & chips and a drink up separately and compare to the regular price. I ordered the CHIMICHURRI STEAK* grilled steak, basmati rice, chimichurri, avocado, pickled fresnos, queso fresco, flour tortilla. I found this flavorful but I didn't thoroughly read about the rice. I don't care for rice in my tacos. But other than that. I liked it. I also ordered the HATCH CHILE PORK. guac, poblano slaw, pickled fresnos, queso fresco, micro cilantro, corn tortilla This was nice & spicy. Tortillas and all the ingredients seamed very fresh. For my side I ordered the guac and chips. The guac is delicious. Very refreshing. I think the chips are store bought but they are blue corn which I prefer anyway. My husband ordered the GRILLED SALMON. napa slaw, lime crema, pickled fresnos, corn pico, avocado crema, micro cilantro, corn tortilla. He said it was delicious. He also ordered the QUESA BIRRIA. pulled pork, gruyere, queso listo, pickled red onion, micro cilantro, griddled corn tortilla, birria consomé for dipping. He said it was good but lacked flavor. My only negative, and I don't want to necessarily blame the staff as it is the owner's duty to hire enough staff to care for the place. But the floors had little pieces of food spilled everywhere and the tables were sticky. Same with the soda and condiments area. It needs a good cleaning through day. The staff were super busy making food and serving guests. They need to add an additional employee to assist these guys. I'm sure we will be back at some point.

Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic.
