We actually drove past it at first and almost didn't stop because the outside looks a bit run down, but we gave it a chance. The inside was clean and surprisingly spacious, and our server was friendly and easygoing. We ordered the Pongal, Masala Dosa, and Vegetable Kothu Paratha. The pongal was my first time trying it, kind of like a savory oatmeal with curry flavors, and honestly I liked it. The masala dosa was huge with a potato filling and came with sauces to dip. Our favorite was the pomegranate sauce but you have to ask for it. The vegetable kothu paratha was also good and came with a variety of dips. Overall the food really hit the spot. I'm not an expert on Indian food but everything tasted satisfying, the portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable. Love this place. My girlfriend and I were hanging out with an Indian friend of hers and she had recommended Bhimas to us. So we went here to try it out and we were blown away. The dosas are out of this world! The restaurant is surprisingly spacious. As a non Indian diner, I didn't know what dishes to try so we asked our waiter to make recommendations. He seemed like he didn't really know the menu because he had to look at it and even then he should want sure what to recommend other than the Bhimas special dosa. So my girlfriend and I ended up ordering on our own. My girlfriend ordered the Bhimas special dosa and I got the onion rava dosa. She also ordered a mango lassi to drink and a ras malai for dessert. Based on the waiter's recommendation, we got idly and vada appetizer. That was the only miss for us and we wouldn't get it next time. A really good place for some great Dosa (& South Indian varieties) and tiffin options in particular when it comes to Veg restaurants in the neighborhoods of Artesia. The restaurant lives up to its reputation for the original Tirupati branch. THE FOOD: We got Sambar Vadai, Paneer Dosa, Batura with Chole and Batura with Paneer along with rose milk. Sambar Vadai was spicy to some extent and probably because it was hot we felt more. It's soft and nicely made. The Paneer dosa was very good, and the paneer tasted great as well. The Batura was excellent. Not so oily and seemed like it was fried in fresh oil. The Paneer gravy was kind of decent not the best but the Chole was so good. Been here 6 years before and it still remained the same: good at quality and quantity. Rose milk was usual like any other place. SERVICE & AMBIENCE: The place is well lit and gives a typical Indian hotel vibe. The restaurant gives a nice feel of having a good home made food especially the spice levels are pretty normal and sits well on your tummy. The staffs and waiters are extremely friendly, fast and make things easier while ordering/ serving and they still allow you to sit and dine past the closing time (unlike SriKrishnaVilas of Cumming,GA who really need to learn from them on how to value customers). Ok, so...we were planning on going to Awaze Ethiopian, which was upstairs....but we couldn't figure out how to get upstairs... ok, granted, we didn't try very hard...because we saw the sign for Bhimas Vegetarian, and were very intrigued. Whenever we can have dosas, we will have dosas. So, sorry Awaze. You are on our list for next time! When we walked in, there were only two tables available, and throughout the meal, there were always groups of people waiting at the front. This is a total casual place, kind of chaotic and bustling, like a cafeteria, and we loved it. We got a masala dosa and the onion and chili uttapam, and also the chicken 65. Why is it 65? We don't know. But we got it and it's vegetarian, and totally delicious. And very very spicy. We tried to ask for things to be not so spicy, but no cigar. Was walking around Pioneer Blvd when we stumbled upon Bhimas! We were hungry so we decided to go for an early dinner. There were a couple people in the restaurant around 6pm. We decided to get chili bhajji, plain pesarattu, and channa bhatura. Chili bhajji (2.5/5): Good quantity (about 4-5 bhajis), but could have been fried for longer. The dough was a little soft. Additionally, the chili wasn't very spicy. Plain pesarattu (3.5/5): My dad enjoyed the pesarattu - there were chilis and onion inside which gave the dosa a nice flavor. However, he said taste-wise the chutneys were very average and they didn't taste fresh. Pesarattu was a bit oily as well. Channa bhatura (4.5/5): Delicious! Very filling. Not much I would change - the only thing is that the bhatura is massive but the amount of chana given on the side is somewhat small so the ratio was off. Overall, the channa bhatura was tasty, the pesarattu was average, and chili bhajji missed the mark. Service was good. If I am in the area, I would come back for the channa bhatura. read more

Sitting on their large patio in the evening gave us a very different vibe as compared to other restaurants in this area. The Edison bulb lighting bathed the spacious patio in a warm glow on a cool summer evening. They are dog friendly as well on the patio, which is a welcome relief for those of us with fur babies and they cater to them with the same love and professionalism as they do with us, asking if our pup would enjoy a bowl of cool water, which we very much appreciated! Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and made solid recommendations. Food is authentic - we are from the south and the north parts of India, hence grew up with this cuisine. Dosas were amazing. Aloo was spread throughout, rather than only being concentrated in the middle. All the condiments were on point. Podi (mix of spices and roasted dal) was so good, I sprinkled it on everything! It comes with tea or coffee, masala dosa, sambar and vada, ven pongal, and sweet rice, and everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. It's a perfect option if you want to sample a large portion of everything. My mom ordered the veggie biryani, which was flavorful and satisfying as well. Service really stood out this visit. The staff checked on us multiple times to make sure everything was okay, and everyone was friendly and attentive. One of the worst dining experiences I've had, both in terms of service and food safety. This review is a serious warning. On Saturday, Jan 31 around 6:00 PM, I experienced shockingly rude and unprofessional behavior at Bhimas. The person taking orders was dismissive, arrogant, and openly hostile. He took an excessive amount of time to take our order, and when we paused for a few seconds to decide, he rudely said, "Take your time and call again," as if customers are an inconvenience. Now to the most alarming part: the food was spoiled. The sambar served with my sambar idly had a strong, unpleasant odor and was clearly not fresh. I did not eat it. When I reached home about two hours later, the smell had become even more unbearable, confirming that old, spoiled food was knowingly served. This is not just bad service -- this is dangerous and unacceptable. Serving spoiled food is a serious health violation and shows complete disregard for customer safety. Restaurants are trusted to follow basic hygiene and quality standards, and this place failed miserably. I did not argue or create a scene, but customers should not have to tolerate rudeness or risk getting sick from contaminated food. Management and ownership must take immediate action: retrain or replace staff, review food handling practices, and ensure expired food is never served again. Until this is addressed, I strongly do not recommend Bhimas to anyone. Customer safety and respect are clearly not a priority here. read more

WE FOUND MOLD! One of the dishes was moldy when we received it. The owner said the fridge water had dripped on it, causing it to mold--as if that makes it any better. The thali and several other dishes came out lukewarm, barely warmed at all. The water tasted metallic and looked murky. A few of our family members became sick after eating here. Came here on a Saturday to have a late lunch, with my mind focused on trying the all-you-can-eat thalis (plates) that they offer, so here's what I got: - Special North Indian thali: $15.99. - Andhra Spicy King Thali: $14.99. For the most part, the dishes were about the same between the two thalis, but there were some differences. The loss of one star was because the similarity between the two dishes. I love that I got get as many refills for the dishes as I wanted - awesome concept and I prefer the style with which they execute it here; you ask for the additional dishes you want and the bring it out for you - this help reduce waste/unnecessary consumption. I loved the daal with roti and rice, and then some of the other dishes. - Filter chai: Love chai, and Madras (Chennai) filter chai is even more so delicious, so I was really glad I got a chance to try that Stateside in LA County! Definitly get this. There's plenty of seating indoors as well as an outdoor patio. The service is wonderful - not hovering, not nosey; they just want to know if you want anything refilled, additional items, and that's it. The ambiance was no-frills, for the day I went was fresh, with a cool breeze, especially since was sat outside. It wasn't loud and was very bright. Remember to tip in cash if you can! And there's plenty of parking (at least when we came) as they have a parking lot that's shared in the plaza they're located in, but shade for the cars during summer is pretty hard to find. read more

Authentic south Indian food with great service. The dosa was 5/5 and made as per my specifications. We also had the veg 65 and onion tomato chilly uthapam and it was also excellent 5/5. They provide all chutneys/sauces (coconut, tomato, sambar) with both dishes. Most places don't provide all of these from my experience so it was great to have these without having to ask. Don't expect an apology for any Moldy food, nor any customer care or refund! We had lunch at Bhimas Artesia and ordered multiple items along with Andra Spicy Thali. It came with 9 items in small bowls. It was not until the end I touched few items and the curd (Yogurt) and found on first scoop that it has mold/black yeast lining all along the edge, showed to the server. He didn't seem apologetic except asked if I want another replacement for the moldy bowl (didn't bother to remove it from table). I am not sure if the rest of the food I consumed was any freshly prepared, now feel it may have premade and stored in refrigerator in bowls. The ultimate surprise came when he charged the FULL amount for all the food without any apology about the moldy food and said we can leave the review about our experience. Be Warned!!! The service was prompt and friendly but the waiter seemed a bit shy ( very attentive and polite though). The dining area, kitchen and washroom were clean . We came pretty early (11am-ish on Saturday) so there was plenty of parking. I could see it getting crowded because there's also an ice cream joint, an Ethiopian restaurant, another south Asian restaurant and an Indian grocery store in the mall.
