My first time taking any class is always nerve wrecking. I've always admired Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & today I finally had the guts to attend. Coach John was substituting and he was very welcoming. Unfortunately, the 7p is more advanced, but he and the advanced ladies Mila, Michelle & Gwen were patient and kind teaching me basic fundamentals. They even allowed me to try the warm-up and some of Coach John's moves of the day. Everyone was super welcoming, so I appreciated the impromptu intro to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. On December 3rd, I called and spoke to Melanie, clearly within the 21-day notice required to avoid further charges. Instead of helping, she insisted Kalani come in person--an absurd suggestion since he couldn't even use the membership. She passed me off to Anthony. After noticing a $131.50 charge on December 8th, I called Anthony. He told me to email his manager, Chris, which I did immediately. I received no response. When I followed up with Anthony via text, he casually explained the charge was a yearly fee, monthly fee, and a late fee. His solution? Try calling Chris directly. I followed all their steps, made every attempt to cancel within the required time, and was still charged unfairly. UFC Gym has no interest in resolving issues--only in taking your money and ignoring you when you ask for help. If you value your time, money, and sanity, stay far away. My card got stolen back in February and my charges originally were taken out on the 27th but it declined on the 26 and so I called and have my new information and paid in full on the 26th. Now my payment date is on the 25th and I get a late fee. I call them because my payment wasn't late as I STILL paid that same day it was just because my card had been stolen. I asked for my money back and they said it would be 14-21 DAYS for the refund and I kept calling to see if I'd get it and NOTHING. So I gave up on the late fee and took it as a loss. When I went to cancel my gym membership at the one year mark the girls made me feel so stupid and laughed at me when I brought up the old late fee charge and said they have NO RECORD. and I was like girl look at your phone records look at my payment statements like do your job. We went in today to do a quick tour of the gym. UFC is one of the gym's on our insurance company that's subsidized. We were welcomed quickly, and Jade Henderson gave our tour. Although the gym is not large, it has plenty of equipment, including lots placed outdoors, which is very nice. Jade went over the deals available (which were better than my insurance companies!) and did not pressure me with sales tactics allowing me to go and see my second choice. Cool gym with a decent amount of standard gym machines and a lot of punching bags and other training equip outside in the back which is pretty sweet. Taking a handful of lessons from Coach Victor and there has definitely been improvement in my cardio, coordination and endurance. Looking forward to the lessons I have left. read more

I signed up a little over a month ago, being a mom looking for a gym that has child care was a major must! After calling and speaking with Bahar on the phone I came in for a free trial and was obsessed. Not only is the gym super clean, it has so many amazing amenities! I signed up on the spot. I feel most gyms have that intimidating factor when starting but everyone from the staff to gym attendees are all so helpful and sweet, I felt comfortable right away. UFC Gym in Costa Mesa is fantastic. The place goes overlooked because it used to be a car dealership and the signs say UFC, but it's actually a great gym. Good mix of machines and free weights plus a nice outdoor area as well. Sauna is nice and clean and so is the gym in general. I took my brothers for an orientation to join UFC gym and made it very clear that I was not in charge of them or billing and provided them with my father's information. They were here for a few months and unfortunately my father had fraud on his card while he was on vacation. UFC GYM continued to harass me over the phone and leave numerous messages for weeks, after i repeatedly asked them not to and informed them that my family was on vacation. They not only harassed the rest of my family but ultimately everybody became so annoyed that we decided to just move them to a private gym for private classes. Been coming here for a year and a half now. I'm mainly a patron of the DUT HIIT classes during the weekdays. Every class you're guaranteed to get a really good work out. It can be as intense as you want it to be. Lots of regulars who keep coming back. Highly recommended. Everyone who does these classes on the regular are in shape and buff af. Really good price comparatively to other specialty gyms. You really get a lot for the monthly fee. classes, 24 hour access to gyms etc. They do push for personal training a lot. I personally don't do the PT but the trainers are great in my experience. If you need the personal push, you can't go wrong with the trainers there. read more

Firstly, the staff at the gym are amazing! Matt F. is so helpful. It was my first time at the gym today and he took the time to show me around and help me get familiar with all the equipment, so I didn't feel out of place or awkward like how I usually do at a new gym. He also made sure to help me find the best gym plan for myself and also recommended a ton of new programs/activities to try that UFC offers. The gym may not have a ton of diverse lifting equipment but it has all the essentials which you need - the obvious bonus of going to UFC being the training rings and UFC centered equipment. What was really cool was an outdoor area which I really enjoy in gyms. There's a TON of squat racks (4 or 5) so don't be worried about skipping leg day. The gym also felt very personal and close - which was very nice and inviting. I forgot my keys at a machine and a worker personally found me and handed it to me! I have been coming to this gym for almost two years now and I am so happy I started. I love the whole layout of this gym. It's different. There is a super cool area in the back that just feels like a big playground. They have punching bags, weightlifting platforms, and a large turf area where you can train. There are frequent classes that vary in focus led by some really intelligent and cool trainers. I have not taken many classes but the ones I have taken have been incredible. You can always adjust your workout to your ability range and the coaches are super helpful in modifying exercises. The inside area is where they have more of their standard workout machines and the layout is cool. It's not just one big room. There are different areas and I think they have done a great job in how they have kept the machine areas categorized. They also have their octagon inside which is always cool to see the BJJ classes taking place. The kids' BJJ is the cutest thing you will ever see in your life, I swear! The community at this gym has been the biggest game changer for me. I have been super out of shape for a long time. The community at this gym had made me feel so accepted and loved. It all started when I walked in one day, determined to change my life because I was incredibly frustrated with myself. I got a tour of the gym and then was introduced to a trainer-Nikki Adams. From then on me and Nikki have worked together over the past two years to get me healthy and learn everything I need to know about working out. Though she doesn't say it to everyone, she has a master's degree in kinesiology! That wealth of knowledge has been SO VALUABLE TO ME. Nikki has basically saved me from myself over and over again. When I came in she got me started. When I was giving up on myself she never did. When I experienced small milestones in progress she was my biggest cheerleader. She also leads the recovery area which has been amazing for when I have injured myself! They have a cryo chamber, water massage beds, a big massage chair, and Nikki offers cupping-which at first was scary but omg life changing! I cannot express my gratitude and love for Nikki enough. She is truly a corner stone of this gym and I would never have been able to get to where I am without her knowledge, positive attitude, and kindness. The other coaches have been super wonderful to me, too. Letty, Rachel, Brian, Edgar-getting to interact with them regularly and see and experience their devotion to health, training and having a great mindset has provided me with amazing examples of what changing your mindset and focus can do. It has been such a fun experience overall and it has been so cool to watch this super unique gym transform over the years. I will definitely be continuing to come here for years to come. I will always rate this place five stars. This place saved me and changed my life. I would recommend this gym specifically to anyone looking to truly change and commit to that change. It's time to lose that Covid-15! Five stars because they are doing a great job at maintaining safe standards during Covid. It feels really good to get back into the gym and everyone here has been really nice and accommodating. In the last few weeks they have started to move the gym equipment back into being inside with the CA tier moving down. I pay 60 dollars a month to have plenty of equipment, access to an outdoor area with dumbbells and CrossFit style equipment, and a men's locker room that has a bathroom and a sauna! They check temp at entrance, ask people (which majority of patrons do) to wear masks inside as well as wipe down equipment with sanitizer spray after every workout. It isn't hard to do since there are many sanitizing stations located throughout the gym. Once in the outdoor area, masks are optional to wear but everyone still maintains a safe space between each other. read more

This was great. Emphasis on was. Once I moved suddenly due to family emergency trying to cancel my membership was impossible. 4 letters sent and still my card was charged. Even after disputing with my bank they immediately went in, charged me my membership, and an extra fee. So when my wallet was stolen it was a blessing in disguise. It was for my bank account. But for my sanity? No. I am called 2-4 times DAILY from not callers to staff. I told one staff I am no longer a member and am tired of mailing letters and to stop callin. That worked. For 4 days. A great alternative to LA Fitness or 24HR if you are not a fan of the oversized, commercial gyms and don't mind a smaller gym. I've been coming here for a few years and I really enjoy the atmosphere and the people. Yes, certain times of day may be crowded and hard to find weights/machines, but that is every gym. Overall, it is a solid gym w/ unique classes (adult & child) and qualified trainers and staff. I've watched the kids BJJ classes and the coaches seem to be genuinely amazing w/ the kids, and the kids seem to love them. In my opinion, the trainers are FAR more qualified than the usual commercial gyms and they are worth the cost. If personal training is interesting to you I've personally worked w/ and would highly suggest: Troy = kickboxing/boxing, and Israel Parra = mobility, body re-comp, weight training, beginner to advanced. If you're a female and would prefer a female trainer then Niki and Mia are both amazing, passionate, and very good at what they do. My only critique is that the entrance/admin stations/front desk could be organized better to look less messy & chaotic, the women's bathroom often runs out of paper towels, and a good, deep cleaning/dusting from ceiling to floor would really make this place shine. Never would have thought I'd get a UFC gym membership yet here I am. My roommate has her membership with the HB UFC so I knew it was a pretty solid gym. I found their Boxing Conditioning class on ClassPass and it was easily my favorite boxing class (from trying out three different studios) and favorite fitness class (from trying out ten different businesses - including strength, Pilates, barre, yoga, open gym, etc.) What really sold me was the open air area where the bags are (because I don't get enough outside time with work and indoor classes), the skill of the coach, and the friendliness of the staff. I was able to get a pretty good deal with membership and now it feels like I can take boxing and kickboxing classes throughout the week, AND be able to use gym equipment when I want. Also, I paid for the year upfront (there was a deal for two years free) because girl math tells me that if I charge it once, I won't see more charges later and then it's basically free. read more
