Nick is a nail artist that understands the value of self-care and quality work! It was my first time getting work done with him, but I believe I will be a recurring client. He is very knowledgeable about nails, and observant with what yours need. He is headstrong about the treatment he recommends, but I am so happy he is because my hands and feet feel so much better after getting it done! He pulled an ingrown nail I had been ignoring, and it has been LIFE-CHANGING. Furthermore his salon is super chic and enjoyable. Again, the value of self-care is high here!
Nick is the best in town with the best service. Nick has been doing my nails for two years now and I will never go anywhere else! Upon arrival, you are greeted with an ice cold drink or hot warm tea. For an extra bonus, his work station is so cute! Since he is appointment based only, this ensures he is not rushed and takes his time to give you the best manicures and pedicures. An additional bonus of being appointment based only is that he gives you full control of what to watch on the tv. I always get 5 star treatment at an amazing price!!
Nick is my favorite nail artist in the Bay Area! He uses high quality products, has the cutest and most creative designs. I'm always happy with his work and quality of service. He's quick to respond to appointment requests. His nail salon is also always very clean and the decor is so cute. I love coming here! It so relaxing. Nick provides drink and always has my favorite Netflix shows to watch while he does my nails. 10/10 service!!
I've been going to Nick regularly for years. He does great quality work and is creative with his designs! I tend to give him a general idea of what I want and he executes his vision. He also makes me feel super comfortable, always offers a refreshment, while putting on my show of choice during the appointment. He's also very accommodating -- I brought my friend for her birthday so we can both get our nails done and it was a great time. Nick is a true gem in the south bay.
Nick has been my go-to nail tech since I moved to San Jose last summer. If I show him an inspiration online, he takes care of the rest. He's very talented and can do pretty much anything. I had never gotten dip powder before coming here and now my nails last for 3-4 weeks every time. I had a couple cases where I broke my nail (my fault) shortly after getting them done- I reached out to Nick and he got me in to fix them right away. He responds quickly and is always so accommodating. He really cares as a nail tech and easy to talk to. And if you're not the type to talk to your nail tech, he lets you choose what you want to watch on TV (major plus)! His area in the salon is also very cute and inviting. Nick always makes sure you feel comfortable, relaxed, and in love with your nails. I have been recommending him to all my friends!
I got a gel pedicure here and it was amazing! Nick was friendly, gentle, and very detail-oriented. My nails look perfect, the polish is smooth and shiny, and the massage at the end was so relaxing. The salon is clean, comfortable, and has a great selection of colors. I'll definitely be coming back! This is definitely my next go-to local salon!

He answerd me within 5 mins of the request on Yelp. Was able to see me within 20mins. The nail room is gorgeous and he gave yummy sparkling drinks. The quality of the products he uses the the gels are very very good. He had the Kardashians show on and I was able to watch whatever I wanted as well. I was in n out in less than 2 hrs for full gel mani and pedi. I need that real foot scrub down with a massage and paraffin wax and he definitely understood the assignment. My nails look so clean and shiny! I feel brand new, I'll definitely be back. Prices are fair and on his website. Parking is lot parking so that's a plus for me!

He not only makes sure your shape and design are perfect, but he also makes sure he does not damage your natural nails. I first came to Nick 3 months ago with my nails were totally ruined by a different nail tech person (from a nail salon). Since seeing Nick, not only has he gotten my natural nails back to a healthy state, He is also able to maintain length in my natural nail. Nick provides amazing customer service. He takes his time with all his clients; making sure each nail is up to perfection. He has mixed colors for me to create the perfect natural nail color. The things Nick does for his clients go beyond anything you have ever experienced. He also offers complimentary drinks with your appointment. I would highly suggest messaging Nick to book an appointment for your nails. He is definitely the best nail tech around!

I took a chance on ugly nails because I thought the name was very funny and cute. This was the best decision of my life. Nicolas is extremely charismatic, kind, and an AMAZING nail artist. His shop was gorgeous and extremely aesthetically pleasing. He made me feel very welcome as a new customer and made time for me even though I called last minute on a day he wasn't even working! "Ugly nails" is now an even funnier name to me because my nails are the farthest thing from ugly. I have never left a nail salon with a smile on my face and a gorgeous set to show off before today! I am extremely impressed and cannot wait to be back with my friends. If you are looking for a nail tech who genuinely cares about his work and his customers you need to get on the phone and call Nicolas right now!! You won't regret it
Rude as hell. A male worker picked up. I was calling to confirm their hours and figuring out how this salon is setup as I would have been a new client. Ask if they had an opening after 7 today because they're open until 8 as listed. Before I could finish my sentence the worker said "no, we only do appointments" and hung up. Customer service is horrid. Stuck up vibe energy. Don't recommend. Part 2: Picture shows the after math of the truth setting in. I Guess the truth hurts babes. Lastly, apparently i'm not the only one who feels the same via check the other 1-2 star reviews.
I just finished getting my nails done by the AMAZING Nick! This is my 3rd time coming to Ugly Nails and this will be my forever home for all things nails! Nick is very thorough and does an awesome job! Nick has never failed me with his color assistants, and there are plenty of colors to choose from! Looking forward to my next appt! THANK YOU, Nick! I called Nicolas for an appointment while visiting family here in San Jose. He was able to accommodate me right away, which was so appreciated as I had a broken nail and the condition of my manicure was dismal! I think that this is the most beautiful set of nails, and the best service I have ever had in many years of getting nails done all over Canada and USA. Beautiful and careful work, lovely coffee, multiple coats to ensure that the design will last. I recommend letting Nicolas surprise you with a design - I am so thrilled. After years of not being able to grow my nails out and not being able to make manicures last more than a week, I have FINALLY found someone who can make that happen. Best place for healthy nail maintenance and beautiful nails. Nicolas is super sweet and professional. This is my third time here and he has never disappointed. The vibes are very slumber party nail night, with tea, mimosas, or any drink of choice. There is tv playing your fav Netflix shows and great conversation with Nic. Also he is truly an artist and can do any design with your nails, and always keeps in mind the health of your nails which I love. If you're looking for a new nail tech, come here. read more

Nick really cares about you and your nails! I came with a design in mind (really last minute pick that I wasn't satisfied with but it was ok). He asked if I was sure and suggested an even better design that would go well with my upcoming trip's outfits and the results were amazing!! I love it when my nail, hair, etc ppl are honest and discuss the looks with me before just diving in because then you know they're actually looking out for you. Fully in love with how my nails came out! The service and vibe are a 10/10! A big plus is that the prices are so affordable for the quality of nails + services, and he doesn't rack on extra fees for every little spa treatment like other salons. I love the drinks he gives out too! It's really easy to schedule with him, I text him with enough time to make sure I get the time I want. read more
Had an awesome awesome experience with Nick! He made me feel super taken care of and did as much as he could to work with my schedule. I got a basic dip nail and loved the way it looked. The mimosas didn't hurt either Definitely call ahead to make an appointment because the man is BUSY and there's only 1 mani chair/1 pedi chair, so you're getting his full attention! It's located in a salon with a couple of hairstylists, waiting space is on the smaller side so you may have to wait outside if it's crowded. Will definitely return for my next set! read more

This experience was overall very strange. I called asked for an appointment as I would do with any other nail salon to request an appointment without knowing that it is just one person who runs the business and usually you need to DM on instagram or book in advanced. Nick immediately started by saying that my current nail salon is lying to me and they're using the wrong products etc. I felt like this was really unnecessary. Even if the current nail salon I go to is using acrylic powder on my bare nails instead of SNS dip as he was explaining to me they lasted way longer than his manicure did and stayed shinier as well. Nick does quality work and has really cute color options as well as cat eye and jelly colors which is really fun. I had a hard time deciding what to rate this salon because there were some great aspects about it. He also works very very tough and fast but did not hurt my nail beds. 3 days after the manicure my middle finger nail broke very painfully when I stuck my hand in my purse. He claimed his manicures last 3-4 weeks. Also the gel top coat peeled off and is looking pretty dull on some of the other nails. I messaged him and he offered to fix the broken nail within 3 days which unfortunately was too soon for me to make it in. read more

My yearly update on my favorite nail spot. I should do more of these but I don't want him to get too many clients I've known Nick now for 2 years and have come to know him, his personality, his life and how hard he works. He is a one man team and is a person just like anyone else. Some people tend to forget that but when it comes to a nail spot you see this person every month and spend 2-3 hours talking about life and experiences. Nick is funny and makes jokes and makes your experience very relaxing all while trying to do the best job he can and doesn't overcharge like most places do. It's hard to find a great nail tech for some people and Nick will go out of his way to take care of you and give you what you want. He's really the best. read more

I live in Oakland and I have been driving to see Nick for 2.5 years. The quality products, quality work, & pricing can't be found anywhere else. Nick has many years of experience and he cares about his work. This is a very rare quality these days. The personal touches that he adds, for example the pedicure service, is the best that I have ever had. He adds citrus to the water to give your toes an extra clean. He adds a mask and scrub for your legs as well. He is very hospitable and always has different beverages to offer as well. If it was 10 stars, I would give him 10. He always makes you feel comfortable and the atmosphere is very nice and he is very CLEAN. I have had multiple friends as well as random people ask for contact information to schedule appointments after they see my nails. I don't have IG and it is very easy to schedule an appointment as well without social media. The dip product that he uses on my nails is very gentle and long lasting. I go every 3 weeks because that's my preference. My nails/toes could make it 4 weeks but I prefer to get my pedicure every 2-3 weeks. Overall great business and amazing staff! read more

Sadly today was it for me. And now I know why this guy gets CANCELLED all the time! I've been coming here for about 3 months or a little less and certainly got the service I wanted until today . I got my nails done a week ago and about 3 of them chipped so I Text NICK which is the owner and the nail tech yesterday if he would be available at 8am this morning he said he was taking the day off which is totally understandable, so I see if he's available Saturday morning he told me he's booked up 8am-3pm so to go in at 3 so I said ok. Then he texts me today "the day he's supposed to be off" at 2:54pm asking "are you there?" Me working in the ER all night i decided to sleep in, since he strictly told me he was taking the day off I will provide pics of the messages so you all understand what I'm talking about . I tip this guy $20-25 every time I have gone in , and he obviously can care less about a LOYAL customer, he's very negative and he will only give you what he thinks is nice or looks right and he does not care about what you want done. So please save yourself a headache before coming here! read more

Nick is absolutely amazing! My nails have never grown so long nor stayed as healthy as they have under his care. My nails used to lift within 2 weeks and break after a while, but it has been around 3 months since I've been going to Nick and I've had 5 sets that have lasted about 3.5 weeks each. They could easily go for 4+ weeks but I can't function with long nails :) One nail did start to crack once, but that was my fault and he fit me in the next week for a fill right away. He primarily uses dip powder which I really like - I had this done once before but it was super thick and bulky. However the way he does it is perfect! Nick can literally do any design and his space is super clean and beautifully decorated. His customer service is also 120% - it's easy to make an appointment with him via text and he always offers drinks (Vietnamese coffee, juices, tea, even mimosas!). I'm so happy to have found him and always look forward to my next manicure :) read more
