I've been coming here for manicures for the past few years and have always had a great experience, but every visit continues to remind me why this salon stands out. Recently, I came in with a group of four adults for the manicure pedicure combo, and it was truly one of the best salon experiences we've had. The team went above and beyond with attentive service, flawless nail care, and an incredibly relaxing massage that included head, shoulders, arms, and legs. It honestly felt like a full spa experience. After moving to this area, I can confidently say this is one of the best salons I've ever been to. Vy was exceptional from the very beginning. She helped pick a color that perfectly matched my skin tone, and the entire appointment felt relaxing and personalized. She definitely gained a regular customer in me. I had my gel nails removed from this nail salon. I think the nail artist that was assigned to me didn't speak English and I had trouble communicating with her. She cut my nails without making sure the left hand finger nails matched the right hand fingernails. I really dislike it when nail artist remove the length without measuring to ensure the fingernails are the same length. I got really scared of her clippers because I felt she cut really close to my nail band. My previous nail artist in Asia always removed the gel color first in order for us to access how long my real nails were before agreeing upon a length to trim them down to. She would always measure each nail to achieve symmetry between left and right nails. However at this salon it was like "You want short ? Okay cut". I have long and natural so it's hard to see the length if you cut first and remove the gel color after. It happen so fast that I didn't even have time to react. Also the English barrier didn't help. One of my nails was cracked and I told her to be gentle but I felt like she was about to cut it quickly. I think she could slowed down and switched nail clippers, but I can't communicate with her. Im not Vietnamese and she doesn't really speak English. I felt uncomfortable the whole time because I didn't know if she was going to cut past my nail band and it made me squirm in my seat. In the midst of it all I think a male nail artist who spoke English took over it. However the entire experience freaked me out so I'm not coming back. I think I need to find a nail artist who I can communicate with it. I also need someone who is a little more detail oriented and works a little slower rather than rushing the whole process. I really miss my previous nail artist who really took her time. It's really unfortunate that I moved away from her. read more

The first nail tech did very well with the shape and design with one hand before another technician had to step in and correct the design on a couple fingers on my other hand. I came here on Wednesday with two of my friends. We all were searching for a new, good nail spot in the area, and came across The 408s. Two of us got mani pedis and one just a pedi. Moon did both my hands and feet and did such a good job. She was patient with me when I was trying to decide my length, lol. I also got gel x for the first time and I love it! Not for someone in a rush to get their nails done and be wary of them nickel and diming you. I showed them a photo of the design I wanted when I sat down. It ended up taking more than 2 hours to get my nails done (a bit slow for my taste) and the design came out fine. However, there's apparently a nuanced difference between regular French tips and French tips where the ends of the curve extend down the sides (this type apparently costs $20 more at this salon). When I pointed out the reference photo had the curve extended, I was told that my nails were "too short" for that (after they were cut). She ended up waiving that fee for me for just this time The design came out very similar to the photo but this just wasn't a relaxing experience. I saw several other customers with reservations waiting, and I think I got lucky being seated at my appointment time. Probably wouldn't return but if you can stand a wait / extended period of time, they are able to recreate some designs. read more

Today, I went and got a gel pedicure, cat eye. My pedicure was done by Bamboo. She also did my belder gel french manicure last time I was there. I tend to be on the finicky side. I must say she's amazing. She did my french manicure perfectly. Just the way I like it. Cat eye design is also great .Each toe looks the same. I probably shouldn't have stayed with this nail salon as long as I did but I don't get my nails done often so I just kept over looking the subpar service for two years but after my last experience, I can not continue coming here. I usually get gel nails, sometimes with a design and a regular polish pedicure. I never ask for anything complicated but always leave disappointed. I think I've tried almost every woman at the salon and none have left me impressed. My mani and pedis are often sloppy with nails being filed different shapes, polish having blemishes, massages being very lazy and the overall process taking hours. I used to not say anything but then I started to speak up and whenever I would, they would play musical chairs and would swap out the manicurists. I would say Brandon is probably the only one I've been satisfied with his work but he only does manicures and sometimes his schedule doesn't align with mine so I end up with someone random. They used to be called Regal and recently changed their name but have kept the same staff and added a woman named Taylor as the front desk. At first I found her helpful but then she wasn't as she kept forgetting that I wanted regular polish on my toes and kept giving me gel swatches. She then got annoyed with me which I found odd since it was her that wasn't listening. Anyway, I wanted a gel manicure with a VERY simple star design on two nails and a decal. Brandon wasn't available so I booked Moon who they claim is the most detail oriented person aside from Brandon. I had her once before and wasn't thrilled with her work but decided to give her another chance since it had been a year or so... It was not any different. She struggled to help me find colors to match a photo I brought in and couldn't color match the gold decal to the nail polish. Brandon had to take over (which is what happens almost every time) and told me he needed to refile all my nails because they were longer than the gel and would chip. It took Moon a long time to do my mani so to hear he needed to fix it, was disappointing. Long story short, the next day, the chrome started to chip and by a week, every nail was destroyed. They charged almost two hundred dollars and the quality is just not there. I have no issue spending money for good quality but this is not it. See photos of my nails after one week. So my last review was only based on Brandon and his skill set and customer service so this review is not for him. I've had multiple issues here. From booking an appt, checking in and no one coming out for me after 45 mins and having to leave and find some where else to go last minute. I live in SF and drive down. To booking with a specific person and arriving to be told they no longer work there. I had an appt yesterday I booked with Brandon and they texted me asking me to reschedule with someone else. I left the nail salon upset. I went and had someone else paint my nails at a salon closer to home. I showed the lady a picture of my nail inspo and it wasn't it. Not only that, you charge $130 just for my nails before tip why am I picking out the colors or helping you design them? That's the level of service you should provide charging that amount. I texted them and told them about my experience with no response. I will not be coming back here ever again. All they seem to care about is charging you an arm and a leg.
