Uji Time is the best taiyaki place in the Concord area! In comparison to other taiyaki places in the Bay, it is just alright. My friend and I ordered the Matcha and Black Sesame Soft Serve with the fish in cup. It comes with A LOT of soft serve which is nice. The soft serve was good, but not amazing. My friend and I both felt that the flavors were on the stronger end, but not in a good way. They have a good topping selection though :-) Service and Ambiance: Good amount of tables. Great and fast service since they weren't busy at 2pm. Wish they had some chili powder for the chicken karaage. The ube milkshake wasn't too sweet just the way I like it. The chicken karaage was crispy and hot but the waffle cone was just unnecessary. Saw that they had pints of durian ice cream which is really hard to find elsewhere so got 1 to go. My gf and I love to come here after our Korean BBQ runs from Ohganes (speaking of I must do a review for them as well...) But this place definitely checks off our subtle sweet tooth, even now in the cold December weather. My gf really likes to get their Matcha and Ube soft serve ice cream. I think the flavors of these two, are strong. I prefer their black sesame soft serve the most (pictured in the second pic). The black sesame isn't to sweet; I'm there for its subtle smoky flavor. Their taiyaki fish are good as atopping too, they are very soft and moist when you can get them fresh. I like their soft serve but their regular ice cream is also pretty good. They have more flavors and I've made it my goal to try all of them. I like the Hojicha; I think that flavor comes out really strong. However, the ice cream can be a little gummy so beware to those that are weirded out by different textures. I've also tried the Hokkaida milk tea flavor which is pretty good. I have tried their sides Uji Time fries and Chicken Kaarage and I did not prefer them as much. Their fries were slathered in a sauce that was too sweet and their chicken kaarage was too salty and overcooked. I personally think this spot is good for its desserts. I've also tried their chocolate and oreo egg puff skewers. They have a crunch on the outside while the inside texture reminds me of dry(-er) mochi. They aren't really sweet and have more of a subtle taste but I really like them. I def. recommend these for people to try if they haven't already. The space is pretty small and there are a lot of people that go in for their sweet treats. I would be careful sitting down at one of their tables. Sometimes, when its busy the staff forget to wipe down their tables after a group of people leave; sometimes the tables and chairs are sticky from other customers. But they are usually busy so I understand the struggle to upkeep their tables. The servers are usually fast when they serve the ice cream and there is usually a little wait time with the sides but it shouldn't be to long of a wait unless the place is packed. I recommend this place for families that have kids. They love the ice cream and I've seen how excited they get when they see all the different kinds of toppings. Glad to see another trendy food spot popping up in Concord. Stopped in for the first time to get ice cream after lunch. We arrived near opening so we were the only customers in the building, but as soon as 12 PM hit, the line started forming, as this is a very popular spot. Service is pretty fast, especially if you're just ordering ice cream in a cup or cone. There is one register and one tablet where you can place your orders. We ordered a black sesame and orange swirl ice cream and a grape cheese tea. Orange is a seasonal flavor, so there is always one flavor on the menu that will change. The grape cheese tea was interesting, but overall tasted like a Welch's grape juice. I would go again to try out their snacks because it looks like they have a variety or sweet and savory items. Parking: This is located in the Park & Shop, so there is a huge parking lot in the front and back of the buildings. Uji Time stands for using natural ingredients in their products. Making ice cream requires some emulsifiers, but they add the minimum amount of emulsifiers, and hence, their soft serve melts faster than other brands. Not bad--drinks were alright and averagely priced. Easy ordering system on iPad at the front or with the cashier. No line, we just walked up and ordered. I asked the cashier if 75% sweetness is actually less sweet and she let me know that there's basically no difference between 100% and 75% sweetness; so, if you typically order less sweet drinks, go for 50% and below. We ordered a Tiger Black Sugar and Strawberry Green Tea w/ Crystal Boba, as well as a matcha ice cream mochi. Both of the drinks were 50% sweetness and honestly could have gone for 25%. Their drinks are apparently QUITE sweet. Their cups and tops are quite flimsy and feel cheap. We didn't drink them immediately and put them in a tote bag while we shopped next door; the brown sugar boba leaked into the bag a bit--not cute. Taste-wise, besides being overly sweet, the drinks were not bad. I wasn't expecting much based on the drinks' appearance + how the cups looked/felt, so I was pretty surprised. The brown sugar boba was brown sugar-y and creamy and the boba itself had a nice, soft texture. The green tea had fresh strawberry chunks, but it also had a distinct artificial strawberry flavor, so I'm assuming they add syrup to the drink. The green tea flavor was nice and apparent. The drinks came out quickly, as there were no orders ahead of us. The service was friendly. Overall, a decent place for dessert/boba. Despite being around ~$6 per drink, I think this place is probably slightly below average compared to other boba shops, especially since both drinks included toppings. I came here with two friends and we all ordered different items but we walked out unsatisfied. I ordered the mango sago drink and it lacked flavor/sweetness. I have to say one of the best things is the convenience of this place. It's right next to Tasty Pot and some other restaurants so a lot of people like to pop in right after their meals. It's also a neat place to just grab dessert. I have gotten multiple soft serves from here and have enjoyed all of them! I only have a picture of he Christmas special but typically the regular ice creams are around the same size as this one. The really neat thing too is how much you can personalize your desserts. You can choose the flavor ice cream you want and the filling inside the taiyaki. You can then choose your toppings and whether you want it handheld(pictured) or in a cup. The inside is simplistic and toned down. It's a great place for nice photos of food or for anything else. They have a lot of simple background/wall designs so a lot of people like to take photos inside or eat inside. Because of this it can get a bit busy and be hard to find seating inside. The workers are all really nice and usually get your desserts out pretty fast.
