I have to say one of the best things is the convenience of this place. It's right next to Tasty Pot and some other restaurants so a lot of people like to pop in right after their meals. It's also a neat place to just grab dessert. I have gotten multiple soft serves from here and have enjoyed all of them! I only have a picture of he Christmas special but typically the regular ice creams are around the same size as this one. The really neat thing too is how much you can personalize your desserts. You can choose the flavor ice cream you want and the filling inside the taiyaki. You can then choose your toppings and whether you want it handheld(pictured) or in a cup. The inside is simplistic and toned down. It's a great place for nice photos of food or for anything else. They have a lot of simple background/wall designs so a lot of people like to take photos inside or eat inside. Because of this it can get a bit busy and be hard to find seating inside. The workers are all really nice and usually get your desserts out pretty fast. Some of the prices of the food may deter people from trying this place but it really is worth at least a try if you're in the area! read more

I've been to Uji Time in SF before and have had a good experience so that was what I was expecting here. They missed the mark. I came here with two friends and we all ordered different items but we walked out unsatisfied. I ordered the mango sago drink and it lacked flavor/sweetness. I appreciated their cleanliness as it reflects what they are serving you. I'm not going to lie. I wanted to try many of their menu items, but of course that wasn't going to happen in a single visit. A solid soft-serve/ Taiyaki place. I got the matcha soft-serve with a red bean filled taiyaki. I loved the matcha soft-serve because it wasn't too sweet like a lot of other matcha ice creams. It had a slightly weird bitter after taste, but other than that I really liked the ice cream. The red bean inside the taiyaki was interesting. Instead of red bean paste it was whole red beans. Personally, for me I would've preferred a red bean paste because the whole beans squirted when you bit into them and the texture was a little weird. The taiyaki wasn't as crunchy as it could've been. It was a little soft and not as crunchy as other taiyaki places like Somi Somi. Other than that, the taiyaki batter was good and flavorful. The dude and I came to Uji Time Dessert on 04/17/22 as this is a new location that opened up. The dude and I are on a mission to find the best Ube/Taro items such as milk teas, milkshakes or desserts in general. Upon entering we were not sure who was in line or waiting so we had to continue to ask "Are you in line" as there was a lot of people standing around. When it was our turn there was a language barrier so BE AWARE. The dude and I had challenges with the worker taking our order. The worker needed additional help. Not a big deal but we just wanted to make sure our order was right. All the workers were helpful and kind. I requested no Whip Cream on on my Ube Milkshake as I am not a fan of whip cream at all (unnecessary calories in my opinion and doesn't do anything for me). The dude also got a Thai Ice Tea and GUESS WHAT!!! This is legit the ONLY place we have ever found UBE Mochi!!!!! We have been searching and searching with no success! They had good music playing, clean inside and packed with people waiting for their orders but they were whipping it out fast and accurately. They called each item separately as they came out so the dude had to walk back and fourth to pick up our items. I added boba into my Ube milkshake which was a good move. Absolutely my favorite drink. PLEASE DO NOT EVER TAKE THE UBE MILKSHAKE OFF THE MENU AS IT IS SO DELICIOUS!!!! I will continue to come back just for this milkshake 8/10 delicious. The dude even enjoyed it. The boba was flavorful and delicious. I personally prefer my boba to be more on the firm side than soft so I let my drink naturally harden them due to how cold the drink is as they were perfectly soft. I highly recommend the UBE MILKSHAKE you won't be disappointed at all. The dude got the Thai Ice Tea with 75% sweetness which is perfect for me. I as I don't like sweet drinks. Nice to have an Uji Time in Concord! This recently opened location is located in a renovated plaza alongside 85 Degrees, Tasty Pot, and other Asian businesses. They are open late until 9:30 PM, which is a plus. When we arrived on the Sunday night, it was bustling with 10-15 people inside. You can order at the register or through a self-serve kiosk. We used the kiosk and it was pretty intuitive. No issues. A tayaki is $7.50 and it comes with a fish cone, one soft serve ice cream flavor, two "free" toppings, and one "free" filling. The menu in front of the store does NOT show their swirl flavors. You CAN get swirls. Ice cream: 4/5. We opted for the match and ube swirl and it was very good! On par with the quality and texture from Somi Somi -- light, airy, and silky smooth. A good serving size as they packed the ice cream into the fish cone. Enough for two to share. Fish cone: 2/5. Not sure if there were issues with their batter today but the fish cone was really disappointing. It wasn't warm or crispy. Instead, it was room temperature and a little flimsy, as if it was sitting out and was on the verge of getting soggy. Not good and we actually threw half of the cone out and just ate the ice cream. We would come back for the ice cream alone, which is $5.50 by itself. Service was also very quick despite it being busy. Although the employee calling order numbers was getting frustrated at customers who didn't pick up their orders quickly. read more

I got the matcha soft-serve ice-cream with the fish shaped waffle cone, which was soft more than it was crunchy. I asked for the ice cream to be in the waffle cone and they still put it in a cup. Geez The amount of ice cream you get is probably 1.5 times as much as you'd get on a Mc Donald's cone but that doesn't justify the fact that it's $8.50, the most expensive soft serve ice cream I've ever purchased. The one good thing I like about the ice cream besides the unique fish shape cone it was supposed to be in is the fact that it wasn't too sweet. Just as tasty as all the other locations I've been to, the girl working there was super nice and gave me a big portion of the soft serve on it! The matcha is my go to flavor with the Nutella inside with some sprinkles! Lots of seating inside and they even had a cute lil claw machine which you can even use a credit card. I tried playing twice each for a dollar but sadly didn't win a prize this time lol. Lots of parking since it's in a busy shopping center/plaza. I went after going to Hurricane Harbor the other day, both a great way to cool off! Would definitely check out some of the other restaurants around here too and come back here again for dessert! Largely passable experience. I've only had Uji Time once before and it was in Pleasanton. I wasn't particularly impressed since the taiyaki I was given was undercooked on the inside and the amount of ice cream minimal for the price I paid. I didn't have either of those issues here. What makes this branch even better is that it's very local to me. East Contra Costa County could stand to have some more good eateries and this largely fits the bill. And I got a good amount of ice cream. If I had one gripe though, it's that the taiyaki I got with my order was stone cold. It wasn't undercooked but it had clearly been sitting on their display for an extended period of time - ergo, not freshly made. Even if the taiyaki I got at the all around more inferior Uji Time was undercooked, at least it was hot (but it was otherwise awful). Even a microwaved taiyaki would've been... well actually, it wouldn't have been okay either but at least it'd be hot. Not a dealbreaker in coming back though. It's a new store and there's going to be growing pains. So it's fine. I'm not a boba guy but I will say that the boba drinks looked really good though. I'll get one of those on my next trip. Who else always finds themselves saying "I want something sweet" after dinner! Raise your hands! Just me? Okay... We were ultra stuffed but I wanted something cold and sweet. Cold things still hit in the Winter, idc what anyone says. Their ice cream flavors rotate out, but I'm not sure how often because for the most part their flavors are usually the same with the exception of the seasonal flavor. Right now, the seasonal flavor is miso caramel. The cashier was so nice and asked if I wanted a sample. It was sweet and savory, kinda like a salted caramel but less salty. I could see that being popular. I really love their taiyaki (fish cone waffle) but they don't sell them individually. The only way you can get it is if you buy a whole sundae which i didn't want. It's just way too much ice cream to eat before I can get to the good stuff. I took a long time to decide what I wanted but there wasn't a line and they didn't rush us. Looks like you can order at the counter or put your own order in at their tablet, which is also by the front counter. Kinda weird placement because you won't see it until you're already at the front. I went with the mango sago and my bf tried their white peach green tea. He was able to reduce the sugar and ice, so it's nice to have those options for those who want their drinks less sweet. I saw they have egg puff skewers now but I couldn't decide what flavor I wanted! I was happy with my drink. Idk why I thought it was going to be a dessert cup you eat with a spoon but I'm not bad it was in drink form. Sago are little mini clear pearls and they had the perfect texture. They're not chewy at all like boba (tapioca pearls), and the mango was so light and refreshing. Definitely brought some Summer to this cold winter night. My bf's tea was good, the white peach flavor was strong but not sweet since he got 50% sugar, so it's great he didn't have to miss out on the essence of the peach by cutting back on the sugar. Overall, it was really tasty and delicious. The ice cream tasted very good and they gave a lot for the amount you pay. The topping were nice and paired well. My only comment is that the Taiyaki felt a bit stale, since it was a bit cold and didn't have much flavor. At other places, they are usually made to order, which was what I expected.
