Just moved in and so excited to find a place so close to us without being on the busy center street. We went there for breakfast and enjoyed the friendly service and outdoor seating. There were plenty of people there with dogs and kids, so it was obviously a fun and warm environment. They have ample indoor seating as well, so definitely would be a good place to come and get work done. I got the Amory St breakfast sandwich (egg, cheese, avo, tomato and lettuce) and WOW it was incredible. The bread on it was very light and fluffy, and I would definitely come back even if just for that. I would have happily gave this a 5 star rating, but the 3 friends I was with had pastries and bagels that were more on the dry side. So if you go, I wouldn't recommend getting a bagel, but I think their sandwiches and drinks are more of the focus, so those are definitely worth it. read more

I went for the first time on a Friday afternoon and met a friend there. It's a good size with quite a few tables but not as cozy as I expected (cool and sterile, despite the art work on the walls). The service was good but I was disappointed because some of the sandwiches were sold out and there were no baked goods left. The tea and bagel were good but not what I had a taste for. After reading some of the other reviews, I'll go again but maybe earlier so I can try some of the items people have liked. read more

Under the same umbrella as New Harvest Roasters in Rhode Island so after visiting them I thought why not give this place a try too? Underwhelming just about sums up my experience. We arrived with the intention to get brunch just before noon and hordes of people were already occupying both the inside and outside seating. Aside from coffee they also have some other overpriced beverages such as their ginger lemonade. I ordered their biscuit with the mushroom gravy. The hot biscuit also comes with scrambled eggs you can choose to add other proteins such as bacon or ham. I don't know why I went for the overpriced gravy. We sat down at one of the tables and noticed that one of the careless patrons did not bother to clear their waste so we pushed it aside to sit down. Thinking they would call us when the latte was ready or bring over our order we just talked amongst ourselves waiting for the food. The biscuit arrived in a sad to go container with a halfhearted apology from the guy bringing it over. Well it's too late now since they ran out of the actual bowls so of course I'm not going to send it back. The latte was cold by the time we realized it was ready so that was sent back for a new one. The biscuit was a fair size, but the mushroom gravy was not extremely appetizing. Maybe it was because I already indulged a bit on an earlier meal in the day but I found it difficult actually to finish the biscuit since it was just quite bland and salty. The fig mozzarella sandwich ordered looked slightly burned and unevenly cut. As this is one of the only options near the Sam Adams Brewery there's not too much competition around for delicious food. read more

This is a good place to grab drinks, snacks or lumch if you are around Jamaica Plain area, particularly if you are looking for a place close enough to walk to from the T. Everything is made from scratch to order..so you know the food is fresh. I had their kale salad and one of their special lattes and they were good. However, it took way too long to get my food that I ended up having to take some to go instead of being able to eat with a large group I was with (we were a large group...and each of us got orders at vastly diff times). Other than the time it took to get our food..everything else was ok. The cafe was spacious enough and have enough tables for most customers to grab their seats I think. read more

Really cool cafe with great coffee and food options. Its located next to Samuel Adams Brewery and they have parking which is very hard it find in Boston. The staff is super friendly and they can make fancy lattes upon request. The place is clean and the decor is funky and bright. Its very convenient if you're craving a beer next door. My boyfriend and I ate a quick lunch here before we did the Sam Adams Brewery Tour (located right across). We saw the signs that were posted on the building outside stating Ula Cafe was just a short trek through the building, and we were starving. This place seems to be always super busy, and it can be difficult to find a place to sit and eat. There was only one table open when we first got there, but just after we ordered our food and corner booth opened up and we moved. The only thing a busy cafe signifies to me is that it has great food/drinks! This place is no exception! We both ordered a sandwich, me the turkey (with avocado and bacon) and him the ham. We were both very satisfied, and were impressed with how fresh the bread was. We didn't get the chance to try any of the pastries, but they looked quite yummy. I don't think I would suggest this place as a cafe you could really get much work done in. It's pretty busy and often noisy, so it may be hard to concentrate/find a spot to stay for an extended period of time. I did notice that they have a lot of vegan options, which can be exciting for some people. Overall, cute little place for a quick bite or coffee if you're in the area. read more

Ula is a cafe I've been to several times, and enjoyed as a customer... however today after waiting thirty minutes for an order that was confirmed on their point of sale screen, we had to ask what happened. Turned out the order was lost, no worries to wait for them to remake the order-- another thirty minutes go by and they say it is three minutes away. After a total of 1 hour and some change waiting for a burrito, we ask for a refund and they say they will oblige, but brush us off when we say we would like it in that moment. Overall, this cafe has good drinks and food, but this experience left a sour taste and will not return. read more

This place is normally lovely. I'm here right now on Monday 5/6 at 1130am, and their wifi isnt working. I tried everything they said to try on their poster (cleared my browsing data, restarted computer..) but it still was giving me an error. I asked a worker (a food runner) to help me and they very rudely said "it's an open network. If it's not working restart your computer" and then walked away before I had any chance to say "i already did that." Then they were gone and I was left standing there alone and dumbfounded that that just happened. It's a Monday before the lunch rush, there was no reason to treat me like that. I used to be a food runner. Never treat customers like that, no matter how busy you are. read more

This place is very conveniently located so that's a huge plus. There aren't many dining options on Amora street. A few things that I don't like: they close at 3pm , their coffee is hit or miss, service is slow, and the menu options are very limited- all summer long all they had was bagels! I like studying here since it's the only cafe in this area, but only if I don't plan on needing WiFi for more than hour. In terms of food/drinks, everything's pretty average. In a neighborhood with not else much going on (besides the Sam Adams Brewery), Ula stands out! I came here with my parents and sister for an early, light dinner. Inside, there is a lot of seating. It's a very hippie-like atmosphere. Staff are very friendly. There is also plenty of seating inside, where I saw lots of people with books and laptops. Casual, good lighting, and roomy--my kind of space! There are also seats outside, which is where we sat. Not the prettiest view with warehouse-like buildings and a parking lot, but it sure beats sitting outside at any city restaurant in the city where people stare at your food from the sidewalk. My mom got a salad (forget which one), and my dad got a cucumber soup. They both really enjoyed it, which says a lot because my parents are the PICKIEST eaters on the planet. The cucumber soup was actually a cold soup, which my dad was hesitant about first, but ended up loving. My sister and I shared the sweet potato sandwich and a lavender iced tea. The sweet potato sandwich was good, but it felt like it was missing something. The lavender iced tea was phenomenal! I even declared that I would come here for that drink alone. Such a charming cafe-I honestly wish I loved in the area because I would probably visit daily. The cafe itself is cozy and full of booths and tables, both inside and outside. On a weekday morning it was fairly crowded, but still possible to find a table without much searching or waiting. I ordered a cup of coffee and the mozzarella fig sandwich. The coffee was decent (and they have soy milk along with half&half, skim, and whole milk to add to your coffee). The sandwich was to DIE for: kale, dried figs, mozzarella, and an apple chutney on multigrain bread and toasted like a panini. It was crispy on the outside and SO full of flavors that complemented each other well. It was so delicious. We went to Ula Cafe because of it's close proximity to the Samuel Adams Brewery. I wasn't sure what to expect as it looked small from the outside and the menu was mostly sandwiches. I ordered the Turkey sandwich and bowl of tomato basil soup. Good thing about the turkey sandwich is that it comes with guacamole and bacon. It's a winning combination. Just regular white bread though. Not my favorite but not awful. Soup was good, warm and I like that it came with croutons. Soup can definitely be ruined but this one hit the spot, especially on a cold and rainy day. Did not try pastries but would in the future. They looked good. Overall, not a bad experience. I know better than to pop in on a busy weekend because of the slowwwwww service, but assumed that on a Tuesday at 10am, with only one customer in front of me, I'd be able to order a drink and be in and out in under 20 min. Should have known better. No complaints about the quality of the food and drinks, and greatly appreciate all the vegan options, but can't abide the wait times. read more

The food and drinks at Ula Cafe are the best!! They really stepped up their pastry game after getting new ownership last year - all their baked goods are made in house and they are so delicious. I love the biscuits and the donut muffin is something special. I really enjoy coming here and getting an ice coffee and breakfast sandwich on the weekend. Met a good friend here for coffees and convos one Saturday morning. I'm not sure if you are familiar with navigating the small winding streets of Boston, if you are...you will likely be able to navigate the narrow winding catacomb of seating found at Ula. Mid-day Saturday and it was packed to the brim. While there appears to be many-a-table, the reality is that each table's property lines abut one another (or overlap in some cases). Tables are rocky (the concrete slab is old school), there is a "Tip" Jar at the front full of rubber wedges to assist in leveling the grade. However, in winter this means boot puddles and making the "oops, 'scuse me, pardon me" squeeze in a down jacket and "I ate too many holiday sweets" pants a bit more ....familiar than one might hope for. Food...appears to be delicious (and comes highly recommended). Coffee...confirmed delightful. The service...ugh, what a mainstream question (- says every staff member I dealt with at this establishment). While Ula boasts a confident loyalty of regulars, the staff appears to be absolutely exhausted by a parishioner's enthusiasm for the day. Still...at least they didn't care enough to shoo us along (we had our table for an hour and a half). In the end, I suppose I would return (if I can mange to win the parking lottery twice in a row). Would this be my number one recommendation for out-of-towners? - nope. read more

My go-to neighborhood cafe Ula has a very unique vibe. I am very glad to be walking distance from this great little cafe. It is located right next to the Sam Adams Brewery and spacious enough in its own sense. The establishment has a very distinct shape, I definitely got a little lost at first. Not a coffee person? Not a tea person? More of a beer person? They got that too. They have a wide range of loose leaf hot tea, iced tea, coffee/espresso, and beer on tap. All of their desserts are vegan/gluten free. I still have yet to try their sandwiches or salads but from the looks if it they are delicious! The staff is very nice and will go above and beyond for your requests, definitely one of the reasons why I will continue to come back. Make sure to bring a sweater because it gets pretty cold. There are enough outlets and seating for studying and working throughout the cafe but you do have to look specifically for that. I've been only on a Saturday and Sunday and if you go on a Sunday they have little vendors selling handmade artifacts, very nice little touch to the area! read more

If you enter THE BREWERY parking lot from Amory street, Ula is to the left of the entrance. The store is finished nicely to use the tall existing ceilings and a hand poured counter wraps around as you enter. I have yet to go, it opened yesterday but I got to try some drinks last time I was working there - my dad's company did the electrical. I PUT UP THE LIGHTS... okay not that exciting. I had a REALLY REALLY good latte though - one worth talking about. I can't wait to see it really come to life. Get yourself in there! It's open now Monday-Friday 7a-7p, and Saturday, Sunday 8a-7p.
