Store was super clean and it was easy to find what I was looking for. The manger Kathy was very friendly and recommended me hair products.

Last month or so I decided to try their hair salon. I had booked a one color all over appointment. I get there for my appointment on a Sunday at 10am I let my stylist know " one color to cover some of this grays. A color that helps because eventually I want to get high lights" well! Where do I begin there must have been some language barrier and the only part that was understood was high lights. Immediately I get the "I have time now" oh okay too early to make this type of commitment but I was like I'm here already why not. After more than 8 hours sitting on that chair and what it seemed to be the never ending the color correction process (because I have dark brown hair) during this process I cried and had to call my father for emotional support because I did not felt it was right for me to pay the amount of $400 and something dollar. I believe her name was Rose. She has burned my hair. I have to keep my hair in a bun every day since because of the damage is so embarrassing specially after paying over $400. This review is for the beauty salon portion of Colma Ulta. I went for a root touch up and a keratin express treatment. Before the nightmare review for the root touch up, let me just say that the keratin treatment seemed to turn out fine. Regarding the root touch up (my first time here for this treatment, and last), I have no words. Look at the pictures. I went in a blonde and came out with chestnut brown roots. How could you look at someone blonde and give them brown roots, without a discussion? I should've known something was up when the hair stylist asked a 'lead' of sorts (a more season 'expert' person on color) her opinion. With confidence the lead pointed her to the 'right' color. Missed the mark to say the least. Luckily, my regular stylist took me in to correct this nightmare. Lesson learned. If you go for a color touch up, I suggest you have your formula number with you AND ensure that they end result will match color of your hair. I'm expecially mad at myself because I was so flustered and angry that I should've refused to pay for the root touch up portion of the bill AND I tipped generously, as I always do (by habit). I had wanted to get a layered bob for a while, but I did not want to trust to a mall salon in a beauty store. Windy was so confident that I confessed and took a leap of faith. This is my very favorite ulta location. Everyone who works here is incredibly welcoming and helpful. I found the best milani blush based off a recommendation and was pleasantly surprised. I'm starting to prefer ulta over Sephora based upon the reward system and great deals. It's also conveniently located in a shopping center with plenty of parking, and you can do a whole girls shopping day here since there is also a pretty well stocked Marshall's across the way! read more

This Ulta is the cleanest and friendliest I've ever visited. It's big too, and plenty of products are in stock. The employees were quick to say hi and ask if I needed help. One of the managers, Kathy, helped me pick out a couple of skin care products for acne, and her suggestions have worked well. She went into great detail about which ones were better for me. So far, I love the Panoxyl 10% foaming wash, Clinique 2.5% salicylic acid, and the Panoxyl oil control moisturizer. read more

STAY AWAY IF YOU HAVE CURLY HAIR!! I got a deep conditioning treatment and I left so upset over the experience. The wash and actual treatment was fine (except the stylist repeatedly tried to up-charge me) but it went downhill when I sat in the chair to wrap up the service. Firstly, they did not tell me I needed to come with my hair detangled or that they charge for detangling so the stylist had to do it. She clearly did not know how to do it and it took and hour and a half all the while painfully ripping hair out of my scalp. She complained the entire time which made me feel awful and ashamed and didn't even finish it (I found knots still in my hair later). It's fine that they charge for detangling but it should have been explicitly clear while booking the service. Secondly, the product that they put in my hair was AWFUL! Whatever gel they finished with made it so it was painful to move after it dried and there was flaky product all throughout. I had to roll down the windows driving home because the chemical smell from it was so strong. Lastly, I was repeatedly pushed to get my hair blown out which I over and over again responded saying I didn't want my hair straightened. There is no option other than to get a blowout or leave with soaking wet hair if you have curls. The experience made me extremely insecure about having curly hair and just another reminder that it is imposible to find salons that will cater to naturally curly hair. This was another one of those salon experiences that leave you in the car crying. I immediately went home and washed the products out. All that to say, the treatment is great and my hair is moisturized but if you have curly hair, go get this service done with a salon that specializes in curly hair. read more

9/3/2019: I wanted purchasing the Ceramic + Ion mid-size hairbrush and the Tony Moly hand lotion but, inventory was out for both products at the Colma/Daly City location; however, I did purchase the paddle hairbrush, Tony Moly's Rose stick moisturizer, and Tony Moly's eye contour stick at this location. Kimberly who greatly assisted locating the Tony Moly products I wanted, was so very cool calling the Concord Store location requesting holding the Tony Moly hand lotion on hold for me. Upon arriving on 9/4/2019 at the Concord Store location, I not only purchased the peach hand lotion but, I also purchased the peach face wash, Tony Moly's Rose stick moisturizer, and Tony Moly's eye contour stick at this location as well . . . I'll tell you the story behind purchasing two more later via Suites Of San Francisco's YELP REVIEW. Please keep in mind, I have visited the Ulta Store located in San Rafael CA a few of years ago; however, the Tony Moly products weren't in Ulta's 2016 inventory not until, Tony Moly announced a couple of months ago in July 2019, Ulta will be carrying Tony Moly's product lines. In addition, I'm familiar with Tony Moly products due to living in South Korea visiting the Tony Moly Store's Myeong-Dong District, Seoul, South Korea location so, upon running out of the tangerine and lemon lotions, I began desperately searching everywhere around USA for Tony Moly's products! Super late review.. I had my haircut done August 31st with Windy, and it was honestly the best experience I have ever had. It was also my very first time going to an Ulta Salon. Windy took such amazing care of me and my hair. She was so thorough and explained every step she did and why she was doing it. She even talked to me about other services they offer and more things I could do with my hair. For the price it was honestly the best experience ever considering I have been to a private salon before that charged 4x more and did not give the same wonderful experience. I am writing a review of Laura Geller women's makeup. I have ordered several items from this seller and though I have not received my order, I felt comfortable in ordering their lipstick and foundation and eye shadow under the thought that it would be a WOULD TRY ORDER for the lipstick and foundation. I also ordered their eyeshadow and my order came out to about $20. When I submitted the purchase I was charged over $50. I contacted Laura Geller immediately to cancel this order only to be told I could not cancel. I must receive and be charged this amount until I try and RETURN my order. Thus I am no longer interested in doing business with this type. Talk about trying something for free only to be charge and exorbitant amount. No sorry, I can do better. read more

This is a review for the Ulta salon. I had my haircut yesterday with Windy. My appt was for 4:45 & I got to the salon at 4:42 & wasn't seated until 5:03 so almost 20 minutes to wait for an appointment. When scheduling there was the option for 4:45 or 5:00 & I would have rather chosen the 5:00 than wait in a cold salon for 20 minutes, had I known. Once seated I showed Windy a photo of what I wanted, basically long layers with curtain bang. It sounded like we were on the same page with the haircut up until the end. The wash was great they definitely took their time. Ive gotten haircuts at this Ulta before & no other stylist has ever done the treatment that is included in the wash & cut so that was nice to know & have done. After the wash, they were spraying leave in conditioner ALL OVER. Then came the Redkin anti frizz hair oil serum thing they put in my hair & I swear it felt as if they used a quarter of the bottle JUST FOR ME. I have kinda thin, boob length hair & I counted about 5 pumps of the hair oil put in. THEN, they sectioned off my hair into 3 & continued to put an ADDITIONAL 3-4 pumps of product per section. The entire time they were claiming "it is good for my hair, its not greasy, its not heavy, you're supposed to put this much, etc." Well, my hair did feel heavy afterwards & a little greasy to the point I just ended up washing my hair again. Now it's around 5:40, almost an hour into my appt, & im barely getting my haircut. Basically, the haircut is objectively good & nicely done. However, it's just simply not what I asked for & I absolutely hate it. The curtain bangs were cut way too short in comparison to the reference picture & they didn't frame the face until they were about to sweep the floor & I had asked for it. Then when it was finally done & asked if I wanted to blow dry straight or pay the extra for the curl/blow out. I said just blow dry straight since I was already WAY OVER appt time & just wanted to go home. They ended up giving me a blowout, which is very nice of them. However, again it just is NOT what I asked for so it ended up taking even longer & I didnt realized that's what they were doing until half my hair was done. Finally, everything was done but Windy wanted to take pictures. I was ready to go home (I had been up since 4:30 AM bc of nursing school) but they ended up doing an entire photo shoot basically of my hair. Again this is very nice, however, I did not ask for it & felt bad saying no lol. I love the hair FROM THE BACK but absolutely hate the front. The bangs are way too short & don't flatter my face. The photos Windy took are time stamped at 6:45 so I spent 2 hours in Ulta when typically I spend an hour MAYBE 1 hour 20 min max. Overall, the experience with Windy was alright, probably will not see them again. They were basically 20 minutes late for the appt, put excessive amounts of product in my hair (did not ask for), took way too long for the appt (which made their next appt have to wait for me to finish), & we were just not on the same page. Maybe it was our masks & we couldnt hear each other well or my lack of sleep from school but there was big miscommunication in what I wanted & what I received. Luckily my hair grows back very fast so my bangs will be perfect in about a month or two. I would suggest if you want a quick in & out appt do NOT go to Windy & if you do see Windy make sure your both very clear about what you want. I left photos of what they took & what I showed as reference. Again the haircut is objectively very nice, it is just not exactly what I asked for. read more

Curbside pickup/COVID review! I've been to this Ulta a couple times previously and I recently came by for a curbside pickup. It was a couple days before Christmas and I urgently needed to get some gifts. I ordered online in the morning for curbside pickup and a few hours later I already received the email that it was ready! I didn't think it would be that quick!! I drove over during my lunch and parking was easy to find. I parked in one of the designated spots labeled for curbside pickup since the front of the store was full. I followed the prompts on the email and provided the make and color of my car. A couple minutes later one of the sales associates came out with my items and checked my ID to confirm it was me. This process was sooo quick and easy, I would definitely do curbside pickup again! Also there is no shipping fee if you do pickup in store. I appreciate these pick up in stores as sometimes I need to buy something quickly and it's under the min shipping. My experience with curbside pickup was excellent!! read more
