This review is for the general store, not the brow bar. I could not find the general store in Dublin, CA on yelp, so instead, I am writing my review here. I had a very stressful, unpleasant experience last time I came here which was on Dec. 6th, 2014. I never had such a terrible, unfriendly, and rude customer service experience. One girl was very nice to me when I was browsing around, but when I tried to pay for my products and exchange my anastasia brow highlighter pencil for the one that I wanted, one of the cashier's named Baylie, was extremely rude to me. I was having problems with my printer at home and could not print out my invoice copy to take with me. However, I brought the slip that showed that I purchased the item and I explained to her that I had problems printing the invoice, so I asked if it was okay to sign onto my Ulta account on my phone so I could show her from there and she said that was fine. She repeated to me that what I had was not an invoice, so she could not do an even exchange for me without that. I was perfectly aware of this fact and did not need this stated to me multiple times. The way she said that to me, though, was very rude and definitely not a good example of what exceptional customer service should be like. You should always treat your customer in a friendly and respectful manner no matter how you might feel on a specific day, and always make the customer feel welcome and important. I'm from Hayward, so I drove out of my way there and expected my experience to be pleasant and straight forward. She made it seem like she was not interested in helping me out at all and did not want my experience to be quick, stress free and easy. And at that time, there was a long line of customers behind me, so I was scrambling to try to sign into my account on my phone to show her the invoice. I felt incredibly rushed and stressed out, so naturally, I could not sign into my account and this stressed me out so much that I started to sigh and sweat since I was wearing my thick winter coat. I was obviously pretty stressed out at this point, but nobody acknowledged me. It's like I was invisible to everyone, and Baylie was busy checking out another customer. She eventually came back to where I was waiting at and I told her that I just could not sign into my account on my phone and was having issues at the time. Instead of being a little understanding of my ordeal, she could not care less. She could not even pretend to care even just a little that I was obviously distressed and just wanted to purchase my items, make an easy even exchange and be on my way. She yet again stated that she needed to see the invoice and what I had was not the invoice slip. I just said fine, I will purchase the other items and just ship it back to Ulta Returns Center. I really did not anticipate having to go through this much trouble for one item I wanted in another color. Baylie even had the audacity to try to charge me for the product I was trying to do an even exhange on! Unbelieveable! That was completely ridiculous to me. I paid for my other items I wanted to purchase, and walked out extremely upset. I will NEVER purchase anything from them online again because returning/exchanging items is an extremely difficult and stressfull process that I do not need to put myself through again. I'm not even sure at this point if I will ever walk into that Ulta store again. Probably not. One bad employee who has no customer service skills is enough to lose a customer permanently. They might have other great employees, but my experience I had on that day was so bad that I have no desire to do business with Ulta again. Apparently, it's a huge ordeal at Ulta to do an even exchange of one product. At any other store, it would have been easily exchanged or I could have at least been given store credit. Ulta needs to hire people who actually have empathy for their customers. If you're not a people person, you shouldn't even bother applying for a customer service position. I ended up purchasing the brow highlighter duo pencil I wanted from Sephora instead. They have superior customer service skills, are always professional and friendly when you walk into one of their stores. Now, I will have to ship one little product that all I wanted to do was get an even exchange on back to Ulta Returns Center in Illinois. What a pain in the a**. Thank you Ulta for sucking so much! read more

Came here to buy a Christmas for my fiance. The "Chi" hair straightener which was advertised in the paper for 20% for any item. Since this is a well reviewed item on the Internet I said why not check out this store. There was a lot of different types of "Chi" on the market being a guy I wanted a beauty consultants expert opinion.Shouldn't have come here to get it. I was sad when I wondered around the store for about 10 minutes looking like a lone guy puppy not knowing where to begin. Many beauty specialist (is that what their called?) saw me and ignored my agitating my frustration. They did have several "chi" displays however after waiting around I decided I'll go with this neat Ed Hardy version since it was the same price as the traditional black. Getting to the register simple question, "Is this the same as the black Chi?" Not only did the check out clerk neither did the manager. This is there hot product that is displayed all over the store and not even the manager knows if it's the same product? I decided to go with the traditional black so I wouldn't make a mistake used the coupon and left paying around $87 with tax. I went to Costco the same purchase was there not on sale for $59 and on amazon was listed the same price. So not only did they have bad customer service but expensive pricing. Phil's Suggestion: Don't go unless it is an absolute necessity and you have no other options, however there seems to be many other options in the beauty world. I can't suggest others mostly because I rarely visit these stores. read more

I absolutely love this store! The girls are always super helpful with the product and also shade matching. The salon staff is very friendly as well. The girls are helpful,but today I was helped by Erin and she went above and beyond to help me with my questions about my product( just cut and colored my hur so i use pureology) AND she made sure I made proper use of my customer discounts. Went in today to take my daughter and her friend for a make up lesson. Ended up with everyone (2 adults; 2 tweens) getting haircuts, 2 tweens getting make-up lessons and I got my brows done. FABULOUS all the way around. Dee did my brows and he was AMAZING. My daughter had her hair cut by Stephanie - LOVE IT. My "other" daughter had her hair cut by Vanessa and Vanessa also did both girls' make up - absolutely FANTASTIC; and Benita cut my and my neighbors hair - HOLY COW AMAZING. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE HER..... we already have all follow up appointments scheduled. HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend them. read more

2 stars because I like their makeup brands There is semi ok service in this store. However, a young girl early 20s with blonde hair working near Stila was yapping my ear off about nonsense. It was like she was high on drugs and couldn't calm down. Talking a mile a minute. The staff here is phenomenal. if I had one complaint it would be that things tend to sell fast so spots are constantly bare (not that it's a bad thing). The managers are great anytime I've had a run in with them it's been nothing but good things. This Ulta is nicer after it has been remodeled and in my experience has well trained and helpful staff. But that is where it stops. I went ahead and purchased about 12 items from Ulta and 3 of them were USED! I remember pulling them from the middle of the self, just to avoid this issue as the the first two are usually testers. I opened up both lipsticks, there is residue smeared all over! The eye shadow palette was even worse, greasy fingerprints and all eyeshadows tested and touched. This is my second time shopping at this location and Im headed back to Sephora where they dont stock used products on the shelves. read more

Do NOT get nails done here. Just take my word for it. Nice person but nail polish all over nails that I had to take care of myself and within 4 days the OPI gel literally fell off most nails. Of course I was told if they chipped she would do them over but who has time in their busy schedule to go back and sit for another hour? Ana the mgr set the girls up with Veronica, Sara and Janae they were very helpful and kind matching skin tones for foundation, blush, eye makeup etc. It was a wonderful first time makeup experience. read more

Great place for beauty products and hair care.

I always get excited to come in here but usually within 5 minutes this goes away. Last time I was here I was in the market for powder-not a million dollar one either so naturally I targeted their brand which is not bad price wise. A clerk helped me match my shad I get to the car and it's not powder no its frickin foundation. Maybe I should've paid more attention, what was I thinking to trust one of their employees. This review is for the salon services and for Angelina. She has been doing my hair for about a year now and my hair is shiny and healthy and growing. What I love about her is I will come for a color service and will leave with an amazing hair cut and deep condtion service, love her honesty. The only reason why I am giving this place 4 stars is because she is moving to Concord as a salon manager I was told by another girl. This shopping center is great! I took care of 80% of my Xmas shopping at this shopping center. I love coming into this bright store because they have those fragrance boxes that comes with lotions, or body wash with a normal sized bottle of perfume. I always get my perfumes here. They also have a great line of make up and countless beauty supplies. I ended up buying two make-up/eye shadow collections as gifts and only spent less than $30. The service reps were friendly and there's even a salon in the back. read more

this review is only for the nail polish since that's all i come here for. the sales that they have for china glaze and orly are pretty good and they tend to have them quite often. my only issue is that they're pretty slow with keeping up with the collections and don't have them available until almost a month after they were released in other retailers. tips: - be sure to check out the clearance/sale section. they tend to have some great steals on their polishes, especially for nicole opi's - even if you don't have the coupon with you, just ask the person ringing you up to give you the $3.50 discount if your total is at least $10 (or $10 off a purchase of $60 or more) read more

I made a return early last week. The lady was very nice when processing my return, and got the manager's approval. When she asked me if you want receipt by email which I normally did. Little did I know a week after I didn't get the receipt and didn't get the refund. Tried multiple times to call the store and customer service....and they told me no record of my return and just wait???? Please make sure always keep your receipt!!! read more

Avoid going to this location at all costs if possible. Absolutely horrendous customer service!! Every employee I interacted with was rude and/or unhelpful, each one sending me around the store to another employee. Each person either "didn't know" or "didn't have time". This Ulta has stepped it up. More friendly, helpful workers and all my experiences in the last few months have been positive. They offer help all the time now, they have surpassed the Sephora at Stoneridge in helpfulness and attentiveness. Always well stocked and they have great store organization! I've been here only twice, but I loved it each time. It's a huge store with different sections dedicated to one thing. One area is makeup, another is fragrance, they have spa products, and there's even a salon in the back. I could probably shop around for a good hour or two because of all the variety. read more

I always get my brows down for free on my bday and have gotten the same person the last 2 years and she is awesome! Takes the time to make sure that every hair is in it's correct spot! One of the female managers there is super sweet. She signed me up for 2 free issues of Allure and Glamour by accident and it would charge my credit card afterwords. She hit the wrong button by and was very sincere and apologetic about it. She gave me a number to call to cancel it. Accidents happen, I really didn't mind. I was walking around the store to see what was on sale. Before I left the store she came up to me and gave me a small make up case of samples to apologize once again for the inconvenience. Wasn't necessary but I could tell she was genuine. PHENOMENAL CUSTOMER SERVICE! If I ever get her name I will update this! I did have one unpleasant experience trying to return some nail polishes that weren't at all what I thought they would be. I waited in line for a long time for an associate to say they couldn't help me and had to wait for the manager to be done with his customer. Finally his customer had paid but wanted to look at something else and left her bags at the registers and walked off. The manager was still standing there, he could've helped me but let me and another girl behind me who also had a return just wait there another good 10 minutes! I was pretty pissed since I had limited time and needed to get to work and hadn't eaten yet. The girl behind me was also pretty mad. His customer didn't have to wait in line again, she just walked up and purchased her things but of course had to stand around and talk to him about her entire life story before she left. It is the managers job let a customer know that they need to wait in line again and to excuse himself and help other customers. Also, some of their other associates can be lazy. This tall blonde girl who wore way too much make up didn't want to wear a walkie because she didn't like it when they were trying to call her up to the register. Ulta is a great store for high end and drugstore makeup. They've stepped their game up substantially over the years and I have no issues about their selections and exclusivity; however when it comes to their customer service... how you going to have a line that goes down the whole backside of your left side wall? And then you got workers just walking around? They gotta find a different way of moving that cash wrap line. Come in super early, during the weekday (except Fridays) or late at night to avoid these Disneyland like lines. read more

When I went in to this salon, I wasn't sure what to expect since I have hair that needs both color and chemical services, which cannot be performed at the same time. I really like this store. It is a bit pricey...but then much less than if you were buying the same thing at Nordstrom. The ULTA brand is pretty good. They pretty much have everything you need in a way of make-up skin care, perfume, etc. The one thing we didn't find there was tanning lotion. read more

I'm not sure what people are taking about but my experience here has been positive. I go shopping here for makeup and hair products. Also the hair salon girls are really nice and funny. The girl doing my hair asked if I wanted water or any magazines while I waited. She knew what wanted and if she didn't understand she asked questions. At the end I got the hair color I was going for and happy with the knew hair color. Yes the associates ask if I need help looking for anything and honestly they're just trying to help. Several associated helped me find products that were best for me and not just trying to make a sale so I appreciate that. I understand people are mad because they are followed but now and days many people do steal that's the truth. The associates are just being cautious. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT GO HERE. I had the most horrible experience with VICTORIA. I came in with extremely long blonde hair asking for a trim, tapering in front, and light layers, the usual. Veronica turned the entire front half of my head into 3 inch bangs. This is not an exaggeration whatsoever. She gave me a goddamn mullet. They were not even feathered, they were chunky and sat out on the top of my head. I am currently at 3.5 months post haircut and I have had to part my hair in the middle and pin my bangs up like a 4 year old girl. Love love love their products! Huge selection from big brands to drug store brands. So why only 3 stars? Because of the hair salon. If you think it's not possible to mess up a bang trim, guess what? It is. For some reason, the gal took it upon herself to to change how far back my bangs started, if that makes sense. I wish I knew the name of the lady who cut my bangs the first time I went in her, she did a fantastic job and made sure that they fit my face and were blended in nicely. When I went in the second time I had someone else cut my bangs and it looks really bad, they cut them too far back and when I asked to have them tapper/blend down she cut them just an inch longer than my bangs (removing several inches of hair) and didn't even pay the other side of my hair any attention just the side my bangs fall on so now it just looks weird and lop-sided. I also asked her to layer my bangs so they wouldn't be so straight across and flat looking and she just cuts them parallel to my hair upwards making them look silly and jagged. I was so scared of her cutting any more that I said that there wasn't anything I wanted to change and left. I even brought in a picture from how my hair looked after I got it cut from the first lady so there should not have been any problems. read more

Frankly, I only go to this store to avoid having to go into the mall to hit Sephora. I have asked the sales women's advice at Sephora plenty of times and enjoyed some amazing products. I have asked the sales women's advise at Ulta and seem to have to return everything I try. First of all, do not use a clear "waterproof" coating you layer over your everyday mascara! It does not work! I go boating all summer and the day I used this product was the day I actually got laughed at. And this isn't my only complaint.. Aside from the products, I cannot stand the fact that their coupons do not work on anything I buy! I think this place has a lot of work to do to become a reputable store that is looking to help the customer rather than make their sales. read more

I usually have a good experience with this Ulta, but not today. I came in around 11:20 on a Sunday to grab the 21 days of beauty deal (Becca Primer). Once I walked in, I saw the shelve was empty so I guess it was sold out within 20 mins of opening. I went and asked two different employees and both of them said they were sold out. They didn't even bother to help me see if they have it in stock in the back. Fine, so I leave. I happen to walk by Ulta after going to Old Navy and I saw they restocked the primer. There were around 10 packages in front of the store being displayed. This makes me mad that both of the employees told me it is sold out and after 15 mins of being away the store, there it is. In the end, I did go back and bought the item. My lesson is learn, I can never trust employees words when it comes to items being sold out at this Ulta. read more

This store is for the FANCY girls only! I love this place! I'm new to Dublin and was checking out the shopping center by the Imax theater. I only went to Ulta to pick up some OPI nail polish and to my surprize, Ulta is like a candy shop for women. It has EVERYTHING all in one place! The salon is amazing and the girls are so nice. I'm ecstatic that I found an African American hair stylist and now I don't have to drive all the way to San Fran to get my hair done :) Her name is Brandy and she hooked my hair UP! At first I was skeptical because her technique is different and before the press I was lookin like a poodle! But once she pressed my hair the style came together perfectly. Its so silky and straight and I can WHIP MY HAIR like a silk scarf! I'll be sure to tell my girls about Jessica, Savana, Margarita, Mike, and the rest of the dolls @ the salon for our next Fancy night out. All of them made me feel so welcome to the city.
