While choosing a nail polish, I saw a sign on the shelf which offered a third bottle free if two were purchased. So I upped my quantity. At the register, the deal did not show on the screen. When I asked, the girl told me "oh, no. That must have applied to something else." I let her know that OPI was written on the sign. She just said no. Could not believe that she didn't bother to check, or to ask a manager. And worse, she did not bother to apologize. Guess I'm old school: still love manners and to be appreciated. Rose has been doing my hair for a year and luckily she moved to an Ulta location even closer! She's very attentive, honest and knows her craft! If you just show up with a picture, she'll do her best to get you there. She talks you through each step of the process to keep you informed. Most hair stylists I've seen usually do what they think looks best on you, but she quickly understands what you want and gives it to you. I've been through a lot of different reds and hair phases with Rose and she was able to achieve them all with a little patience. She's very up to date on hair trends and colors and techniques! I was also happy since I purchased enough to maintain Platinum Status through 2017. Anyway they advertise that with platinum status you get 2x points on your birthday month, a free birthday gift and $10 off. I forgot to mention to the cashier that it's my birthday month and it was just my birthday a few days prior. I look forward to their birthday gifts each year so I came back over the weekend and kindly told the cashier the situation. She seemed annoyed that I came all the way back and got in line just to redeem my birthday gift. She told me that I needed an email from Ulta to redeem my gift, I've been a rewards member with Ulta for several years and I never had to show them an email. Usually they can just see my birthday when they pull up my account. Anyway, I went through my phone trying to find an email from Ulta regarding my birthday reward and I couldn't find any in my inbox nor junk mail. The employee ( I think she was the manager) kept rolling her eyes and seemed like she wanted me to get out of her line... Uhhhh I drove all the way and patiently waited my turn. I was a walk in at 11am for a hair appt. Got booked for 1:30pm but didn't get into the chair until 2:45 pm. I did not get the treatment I should have received for what I paid for! Didn't get the color I wanted at all. I am extremely grateful for the service I received from Mariah! She was amazing! Great personality, good at what she does! She worked non-stop all day, didn't even get a lunch break! Sadly they are seriously understaffed! I will not ever go back to ulta to get my hair done since I didn't get what I asked for at all. Not saying my hair doesn't look good, but it's not what I wanted. I was there 8 hours, didn't get the full treatment as well as walking out with soaking wet hair. Coming to yelp I was hoping to find that my terrible experience at this location was an isolated thing but unfortunately I see that others have had issues with the staff and I am not alone. What a shame for a new location. Anyhow, I am a regular Ulta shopper these days due to convenience as traffic in the Bay Area has gotten awful and I no longer easily make the trek to Sephora (I hate jcpenneys Sephora) I am even an ultamate rewards member and signed up for their credit card. My mother and I spend a lot of money here! Last week I went in (after checking policy on the website) to return a very expensive shampoo and cond. I'd received as a gift from my grandmother. I had no receipt because I had never expected to return them as it was a specific request for Christmas and was only expecting to do an exchange as I had discovered my beloved products had been re formulated and due to this, could no longer use them. The manager was extremely rude and even after explaining to her my situation told me my account had been blocked from doing returns! WHAT?! That was after she said it would affect her numbers and tried to look for the transaction on my account which I had already told her would not be there. She told me there was nothing she could do, her hands were tied and I expressed my outrage. This shampoo is $120 and the conditioner is even more! I called corporate as I told her I would and it was forwarded to the district manager. Fast forward a week and still no response and when I called today to follow up was given another excuse and told to wait three more days! I'm furious as I have put my Christmas shopping on hold because I refuse to spend a penny more with this company until I've received an answer from them to resolve this situation and now I only have 11 days until then! If I lose out on over $300 worth of products gifted to me by my grandmother who lives out of state, I will never step foot in Ulta ever again. I was never treated this way at Sephora! I even did a gift exchange at Dick's for over $300 two days ago without issue but I guess Ulta must be hurting for money if they refuse to adhere to their own return policy! read more

Awful awful awful customer service. Cora, I'm guessing a general manager followed me around the entire store and made it incredibly obvious. Never asking once if I needed help or greeting me. Even went so far as to take over the register that I checked out at, eyeing me the entire time. The associate on the register previously was also super short and rude even when asking for my phone number. What's wrong with these girls!!! I have been going to Jessye for over 12 years now. When I was younger I liked to play around with colors and often switched from brunette to blond on a whim. Jesseye was always a professional about it and provided me with feedback about how the style would look on me before she colored it. In the most recent years I have kept my blond hair and she has done an incredible job with the blond. This review is for one of the Salon's stylists, THELMA ROSE: Rose has been my stylist for over a year, and I followed her to the Fairfield store from the Concord store when she transferred. Let me just say that prior to her, I have NEVER followed a stylist anywhere, I was always content to find a new one near me. Rose is extremely talented, you can immediately tell her passion for what she does, particularly coloring. She has an amazing knack for blonde in particular (you can always hear her saying "I love my Blondes!"), and somehow always knows exactly how to get the perfect warmth or coolness that you want, along with dimension. This girl knows what she's doing! What I love about her is that she explains why she does certain things, so that I can understand the process. It's come in so helpful when I wanted to transition more to an ash blonde, as she was able to set realistic expectations (i.e., this is not a one-visit process, this is what I can expect in one-, two-, three- visits, etc.). She knows products inside out, and every recommendation that she has made for me (along with tips on how to use them best for me individually) have made a dramatic difference in my hair. As if all this wasn't enough, she is an all-around amazing person. You know that she genuinely cares about you, and that she wants to pamper you while still helping you be true to yourself. TLDR; If you want a stylist who can get you exactly what you want (ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE, OR WANT TO BE, BLONDE) go see Rose. read more

Horrible customer service (register), i went in to make a return and i was questioned and looked down upon beyond belief. I purchased over $300 worth of products (few were duplicates of the same product in different shades) as i was not sure which one i'd use for an event i was attending. I was helped originally by the staff in Vacaville (which was amazing) and was told i could return the products i didn't need as long as i had my receipt and the product was not used more than 25%. to be clear, i did not use any of the products i intended to return. Not to mention, i bought these on a Thursday afternoon, and went in to return Friday afternoon literally- a day. I was practically being forced into getting store credit by a nasty rude 18 year old and her 25 year old manager. I responded that i wanted a refund and she once again asked me why i was returning such a great brand when it works so well. (not that it is any of her business, but had she read the receipt she would have seen that i purchased two or three of the same items in case the first shade did not work out). I went here today and wanted to buy foundation as I walked around looking for some help. No one was available, one lady walked over and handed us a shopping bag. So I asked her if she could help me out as far as finding the right foundation. She showed me a foundation to sample and said play with that to see if you like it and walked away.. I thought it matched ok so I needed to know where I can find a bottle to purchase but couldn't find it. She never came back to ask if I like the shade or ask me if I need anything else.
