I went yesterday (Mothers Day) to this location and got help from Elizabeth and Cindy. I was greeted by Elizabeth and later helped through out my experience by Cindy. I asked her what minis I should get my mom and she gave me some suggestions. I was in fragrance and had a good conversation with Elizabeth about the brand NOYZ and how people are using it. Then at check out I applied for the Credit Card with Cindy. I knew I was reapproved and was just waiting. She suggested some additional minis that I didn't need but I had the points so I said yes why not. I would recommend this location. All the people working there seem to be a good vibe. read more

I am at this place way more often than I should, but it is genuinely the only Ulta I like to go to for all my makeup and skin care. The shelves are always stocked and there is always someone to assist you if you need it. The girls here are so friendly and it's always a great shopping experience. I've Frequently Been To This Ulta Location & At My Most Recent Trip I Was Helped Tremendously By An Associate Named Nadi. She Was Patient, Attentive, & Really Knew Her Knowledge On All Products. She Offered Her Assistance As I'm Honestly Used To Just Browsing As I Generally See Employees Stocking Items Or Busy Ringing Up Customers. She Even Offered To Check Back Stock & Found Items In Other Places Which Was So Helpful. Her Kind Demeanor & Gentle Kindness Really Made The Difference In My Ulta Experience. I visited this Ulta location this past weekend in search of red Elf lip liner. I wandered the store looking for the cheap(er) makeup options until I finally found the Elf section. Unfortunately, there were no Elf lip liners to be had. I looked at other brands nearby for cheapish options. I noticed NYX had several different types of lip liners for $5 (or that's what they were labeled anyway). I went with one that was labeled as retractible. I got in line and made my way to the register when called. The $5 lip liner turned out to be more around $8, as that was what my total came out to be. Not sure how or why that happened, but since the price wasn't significantly more, I went with it. read more

If you are an African-American woman, please do not shop here. I was originally in here looking for a Mother's Day gift and was followed the whole experience. I asked one of the associates for assistance, thinking that the male employee who kept following me would give me some distance, but I was wrong. He continued to follow me despite the employee (Alexus) who was very helpful with my purchase placing the item at the register while I continued to shop. If I can afford a $60 dollar hand cream sir I don't need to steal a $10 dollar eyebrow pencil. Racial profiling needs to be stopped! read more

It's an ok store in terms of stock, but the staff can be rude and it is not a customer- friendly environment. They recently removed all of the makeup testing stations at the end of aisles - mirrors, alcohol/makeup remover, q-tips, sponges, etc. Are a dozen customers supposed to wait to get help from the one attendant in the area before trying something? Walk all over the store looking for a tissue? Right before they did this I was putting a little alcohol on a pad to clean a bit of liner on my hand and an employee walked by, yanked it out of my hand and took it away, saying not one word. Don't go here. They ruined my hair and my brows. Burned my face, made me look ridiculous the day before my birthday. Store is fine, but the salon is a disaster and obviously needs a change in management. The salon manager is rude and laughed at me when I confronted her about my brows which were crooked and bleeding. read more

The worst customer service I've ever experienced. My sister sent me three Lancôme mascaras, but one arrived damaged with a broken brush. I went to the Falls Church store to exchange it. She has an account but purchased as a guest due to login issues, so they couldn't find the order. The manager rudely refused to help, claiming it wasn't in their system, even after I showed proof it was new and unused. I told her that I am going to complain and to give me her name and she mumbled it and i couldn't understand it so I asked her to repeat it nd she rudely said I told you my name once and not repeating it. Both rude managers were black and I am not saying that to be racist, just for identification purpose. I called my sister, who texted me the receipt, but even then, a higher manager refused to assist and threatened to call security if I didn't leave. They showed no respect, didn't listen, and made no effort to resolve the issue. I filed a complaint with guest services and they said the district manager will call me within 72 hours but never heard back. I will never return to that store even if they give free stuff. read more

Update 11/23 I went in this evening to redeem some accrued points/ credit that I had and was told that I was not allowed to do redeem the full amount in store. It was the strangest experience and as with all my interactions lately, the manager was absolutely no help and was rude. I ended up leaving with out making a purchase. It's a decent store. Parking can be unique, but that's common in Northern Virginia. I go to Ulta for colognes. Sadly their amount of choices used to be better. They don't sell any niche colognes, unless you consider Tom Fords high prices to make that status. To me they are a designer. Service is hit or miss. Actually do like the employees here. Also it's a clean and well organized place. That alone is helpful. Colognes along with other items, are going up in price with everything else. They seem to have a lot of Jimmy Choo, which I'm not enamored with, and also Polo which is not what it was. On a plus note they have Chanel Egoiste which is awesome. Price wise they are not too competitive, but online I've found some sales. Their idea of coffee sniff cans is very smart. read more

8/8/22/20 Oh, the last time I was here was a year ago. This Coronavirus thing wasn't an issue at the time. Now there are signs spacing out clients who are checking out and throughout the store. Hand sanitizer is provided upon entering the establishment. Masks are now required to enter the humble abode of Ulta. Masks are the new normal and I don't like it. I was greeted upon entering the building with a warm smile you can see from the associate's eyes. A very good start. I was also asked if I needed help two different times. Looking around I saw a body scrubs of Eucalyptus Blossom and Amazon Pequi. These are great Sugar Body Scrub items. The smells grabbed our attention quickly. They are now in our basket. Rubbing this on my back won't be easy, but not impossible. I will look around. Ulta has some new flavors of Sugar Scrub (to me anyhow) that are cool, but did not buy yet. Mainly because, the name, color or smell are not to my liking....like Brown Sugar, Frosted Sugar Cookie, Banna Muffin and Moca&Coffee Bean... Four scents Ulta sells, but I could never use. However lemon version of Marula&Jasmine work wonders with me. Of course the Poo-Pourri just happens to be next to these body scrubs. Oh well, our time here has been quick and easy. read more

I love this Ulta! It always has everything I need in stock. The staff is always so friendly and helpful. Sometimes the line is long, but that just means we all have the same idea LOL. Went here to get a haircut with Esveire. Asked for a layered bob and received a horrible, too short, chopped up, layered mess. She apologized for the "misunderstanding." How difficult is it to mess up a bob? So disappointed. Not sure how this person became licensed to cut hair. read more

Do not book keratin treatment here!! Especially with Ariunaa. She burned off my front edges, called my natural curly hair "a big mess" and charged me a tangle maintenance fee because I have curly hair. I feel insulted and ripped off. A WASTE of $135. read more

I did in-store pickup of an online order and the item I was given expired 2/2021. It is 2/26/2021. I never should have been given this product for pickup. I then spent more than an hour with Ulta's phone customer service and chat trying to get my money back for the expired product. It was so frustrating and a waste of time. If you do in-store pickup, make sure you open up the bag and check the expiration date on the product while in the parking lot to avoid all of the hassle I experienced because Ulta customer service is pretty powerless to be able to remedy the situation. They wanted me to pay to ship the replacement product, so I would have had to pay more for the product than I paid for it in the first place. read more

Susana is the best hairdresser. She really takes the time to get to know what you like and what works best with your face shape. I also love how well she pays attention to what level of color you're comfortable with. SO many places ignore what you ask for and do what they think is best vs. your wishes. But not Susana--she takes your wishes into full account. I love going to her for cut and color because I can trust it will come out the way I want it to every time. read more

The employees are incredibly racist here at this Ulta (the Falls Church location). I went in today to test out some perfume and purchase some makeup I needed. This employee would not stop following me around. I didn't get her name but she had curly hair and she looked middle eastern or pakistani. While I was testing perfumes she came right beside me and pretended to fix the perfumes on the shelves multiple times and she kept hovering over me. Then I went over to the makeup section and she kept pacing around me and hovering over me. I found this woman's behavior extremely inappropriate, aggressive and racist. I won't return to this location because of this, and I advise other black women to stay away from this Ulta unless you enjoy being followed around and harassed while you're trying to shop in peace. read more

I got a haircut from one of the hair dressers there, her name is Ann Marie, I believe. She did a phenomenal job! She didn't complain about the length or thickness of my hair because usually the first thing hair stylist say is "oh you have too much hair..." she was admiring it! She had fun cutting my hair! She left my hair so nice! I had dyed my hair acouple of months before getting a hair cut and the hair cut actually brought the light color out. I called back earlier this year to find out she's not there anymore. They asked me if I wanted another hairdresser I said no, ann Marie was the only one that actually took the time to do my hair. Like other hair dressers I've seen in the past they like to see who's coming in the store, who doing what and not concentrate on what they're doing. Ann Marie was focused and did an excellent job. Pushyyy! I came here to see if they carried the new Colourpop Disney collaboration. Although they did, they only carried 5 of the 8 sets and didn't sell any of the components separately, unlike the Colourpop website. No big deal, but I wanted to look around a bit before leaving. An employee approached me and asked if I needed any help, and I told her I was fine. I went over to a display near the first employee, and another employee asked if I needed help and I told her no. She started talking to me about one of the products on the shelf I was looking at and then made a comment to the effect of "maybe we can help you with your brows a bit?" and then the first employee came back and handed a product to me. They started to lead me to the Benefit Brow Bar and admittedly I have trouble standing up for myself... Thankfully, my friend told them that we were not interested and we immediately left after that. I really hate when employees are this pushy. I get it, they have to sell stuff, it's their job. But if I say I don't need help, that's not supposed to be a challenge to them - it means I want to look around in peace without having employees actively trying to push me to buy or try out other products. Amazing blow dry job all thanks to Deborah!! I was very content with the final product, as it was light, bouncy and seemingly natural compared to blow dry bar and other places that put a lot of product in your hair. Not to mention I have super curly hair, it entails a lot of hair pulling, but she was super gentle with me and I was able to relax without wincing in pain constantly. A nice and quiet atmosphere, excellent customer service, I'll most definitely be coming back here soon! read more

I came in at around 7:55 to grab a pair of lashes and not only was I rudely told that the store was closed (until i affirmed that i knew what I was looking for and where to find it) but I was followed in the store and rushed through my purchase. Now when it came time to be at the register, the attendants refused to use my coupon code and tried to play me for dumb knowing good and well that the website was not functioning and that inputting the code would also work. I am not sure if it was a sick joke or if the sales associate genuinely made a mistake, but during my first visit to this Ulta I signed up for their Ultimate Rewards Program. My name is Vicky but the sales associate entered my name into the system as "Dicky". I was quite mortified upon receiving my first monthly statement and seeing DICKY labeled in large, bold letters (photo below). I do not believe "Dicky" is a common name and the letter "D" is not exactly next to the "V" on a keyboard. Thus, I concluded that it was a sick joke. But luckily I have a sense of humor and got a good laugh out of it. Aside from my initial experience here, the store itself is located in a convenient area at the Bailey Crossroads Shopping Center. The store is quite large and well stocked with beauty and hair products ranging from high-end brands to drug-store brands. Back to their employees, however, I do believe they are lacking in ones that are enthusiastic and well-trained. During my last visit here, I spent about 30 minutes picking out lipsticks in their drug-store makeup section. While they had placed 50% off stickers all over their shelves, there was no indication as to which specific products were actually on sale. As a result, I asked the sales associate for confirmation. The sales associate gave me a blank stare and stated that they were not on sale per the system. I asked her to double-check and pointed out the myriad of 50% stickers that were stuck on the shelves. After a painful 15 minutes of conferring with her store manager, the sales associate finally came back and specified exactly which products the sales applied to. I would only recommend coming to this Ulta if you know exactly what you are looking for. If you require beauty advice or assistance I would suggest going elsewhere. read more

The salon is another story. I've had excellent haircuts and dye jobs there. Until today I was happy with every stylist I've seen and had settled in with Faveen for the last year. Today, however, I learned that Faveen is homophobic and was treated to a long lecture on how she considers me a sinner and I learned way too much about her religious beliefs and theory if creationism.
