The customer service in the Gainesville store is terrible. I was standing in line for ten minutes with only one checkout clerk. Two managers came to the front and saw us all standing there and went on about their business like they were too good to wait on customers. Without customers there is no need for so called managers. Pretty shocked with this location's complete lack of customer service, and definitely won't be going back. I walked into the store and wasn't greeted by anyone during the fifteen to twenty minute time period that I walked around the store. This was the first time that I had been into this location, so I wasn't sure exactly how the set up of the store was arranged (or in other words, I'm sure I looked like I was a little lost and trying to find something). I passed by at least five different associates walking across nearly the entire span of the store and NOT ONE of them stopped to greet me or ask if I could be helped. One acknowledged my search across the store, but walked passed me. This wouldn't have bothered me if the staff had been busy with other customers, but the store wasn't busy at all (maybe a max of five or six other customers) and even so, it takes five seconds to say hello or welcome to the store. Not a good look, especially with two Sephora stores and several department store makeup counters five minutes away at the Oaks Mall. read more

Recently I have relocated to Gainesville after 10 years away. Sadly, in my time gone my local Gville hairdressers had either passed away or moved away themselves. I have been busy getting work & house of moving in order & seriously neglecting my self care. Up late last week, I decide to go out on a limb and book online with Ulta. As a busy working mom the ease of booking online and finding appointments to fit my schedule was essential in a clutch. As you know, when randomly booking online you could be taking quite a risk. Especially for what I needed which was corrective color & cut. I am happy & thankful to say that he hair gods did bless me on this day! I was called by the charming Evan @ Ulta, to confirm that I did indeed want my appointment I booked at midnight the night before. Being in a college town I am guessing that people who book so late may not always show due to intoxication. But I fully knew what I was doing and the risk was mine! Evan took the time to understand what I was asking for when I wasn't too sure myself. He talked over ideas with me and conspired with me to create the look I was ultimately going for. My experience in the salon was pleasant even without wifi and hair by Evan is something I will be back for and will recommend to others! Sometimes taking risks is the best thing you can do! If I could give less than 1 star I would. I have only left two Yelp reviews in 10 years and both were 1 star experiences from Ulta. The most recent was an order placed 3 weeks ago that is "lost". After my first less than 1 star experience I vowed to never shop at an Ulta again but for a Christmas gift for someone, I made the mistake of giving Ulta my business. I ordered an item online and received an email that my item had shipped. After a week, I figured it had not updated with UPS due to shipping delays so I called Ulta only to be told I miss understood the "yay, your item has shipped email that contained a tracking number" and in fact my item had not shipped. Several days later I got an email that my order had been packaged and I could check order status online. My order is no where to be found. Called back and they said it has shipped. Still no updates with UPS. I call them again days later to find out the item had not shipped. It's now 2 days past Christmas, my secret Santa has not received her gift and they will not issue me a refund. I would say lessons learned but I should have learned the first time. read more

I am very picky about my hair and I get it done at the Salon at Ulta regularly. I love that the prices are set so there are no surprises and the stylists are HIGHLY skilled. Grace has been doing my hair for over a year and she is so intuitive. She knows how to adjust the base color over time to really make your highlights POP. When Grace wasn't available, she set me up with Airre-elle, who is just as skilled and personable as she is. The stylists are very communicative, sharing their suggestions and always asking before making any changes. They really know how to treat your hair to get the best color with the least amount of damage (and going from waist length curly black hair to light ash brown with blonde highlights, that's saying a LOT). I have recommended Grace to anyone who asks and will continue to sing her praises. Even though I've moved out of state, I plan on scheduling my appointments so Grace can work her magic when I come back to visit. They also have a pretty sweet rewards system: With every hair appointment, you accumulate points you can later use in the store. I walk out with fabulous hair and usually a lippie I paid next to nothing for. read more

I went in the store and was greeted right away by sweet, very cute and energetic little sale associate named Melanie. She stayed with me the whole time helping me pick out what I needed and helped with any questions I had. ( and this girl knew her stuff) she was the perfect picture of what great customer service looks like. She also helped my friend with questions on benefit eyebrow gift set. Nowadays, when I need some makeup, skincare, hair care, or nail supplies, I'll usually run into Ulta, which is a little easier to get to after work than Sephora. It's just been a decent alternative lately that I mostly use out of convenience more than anything, but I can't say I've ever had a less than positive experience there. Today, however, my expectations were exceeded for customer service in terms of what I call the "cool factor." You know when someone is just so cool about something that you can't help but love them? That was Ulta today. A bronzer I wanted was marked as 25% off, which I didn't even notice until the team member assisting me pointed it out. Just as my hopes got up, however, she let them down by further observing that the sale price was over. However, she set me up at the checkout to still apply the discount, since the sign was still up when I got there. It would have been all too easy for any of the employees to say 'oh well, that's too bad,' but the fact that they let me get a few bucks off of a product regardless is just very cool of them. UNBELIEVABLE! If I could give ZERO STARS, I would. I made an appointment at Ulta one month ago for Prom makeup at 11am (Tristany) and hair at 12 (Destiny) for my senior daughter's first and only prom. I also called the day before the appointment and verified the correct date and times and got a total price ($122). When my daughter showed up, Ulta tells her that her appointment for makeup will be at 11 but her hair would have to be at 2, not the original appointment time of 12! They said Destiny (hair stylist) would not be in until 2. After makeup, my daughter was told to come back at 2 for her hair. They did not ask to collect payment for the makeup portion before she left. I had to cancel the hair appointment altogether since that 2pm spot was not going to work. In addition, when she got home, her makeup definitely DID NOT look professionally applied. I called and spoke to the store managers Debbie and Ashley. I said considering that Ulta screwed up the appointment, not only when I made it, but also when I verified it the day before, and the fact they did a very unprofessional makeup application and that they had told my daughter to leave and come back rather than require payment for the service already rendered (makeup application), I should not be expected to pay for the service. They said that my daughter liked the makeup (not true) and it looked fine so they would give 15% off. I offered to just settle up on the phone with a card right then and they said they could not do that and I would have to make a special trip in to pay for the makeup service. After that special trip in, I WILL NEVER RETURN to Ulta. I've been a very loyal customer for years. But, now only Sephora and online! read more

Kristie (sp?) did my wedding makeup along with my sister (MOH) and my mothers. She was amazing. I had canceled my appt. with my original stylist the Monday before my Saturday wedding because she told me she was going to use "elf products" so needless to say, I was stressed! Ulta was amazing and got the three of us in in no time. There was a hiccup with their hair stylist who called out sick on my trial the day before the wedding and they re worked their whole morning schedule to get us in with someone else. It ended up working out perfectly. Kristie listened to what I wanted and I absolutely loved the way she handled the three of us and made us feel comfortable. They even allowed my photographer to come in for the three hours we were there and take photos. I would absolutely recommend her anyone who asked and I went back the week after and bought all the makeup she used on me! I found her number in my phone after a my contacts updated so I texted her wanting to know where she was so I could make an appointment with her. When she told me she was at Ulta, I had no idea what a fabulous store it was. When I walked in I was in heaven! Everything for every woman. DO NOT get your hair colored at ultra under ANY circumstances. I asked to get my hair bayalaged and I have black hair. I wanted caramel colors something small. The girl literally bleached my hair YELLOW Blow dried it and thought it was okay. Like this is NOT what I wanted at ALL. I literally had started to cry as soon as she had bleached it because she was supposed to be someone that was "good" at what they were doing. It was a nightmare. After I cried she decided to "tone it more" like duh my hair was literally YELLOW. I have BLACK hair. It toned to a light brown but within DAYS my hair was super light and hideous. I started going to Avante Garde salon and it was the best thing I've ever done. Mind you, I also had to pay full price for something that I hated. I walked in with virgin beautiful hair and she completely ruined it. If you like your hair DO NOT go here and spend the extra money to actually go t someone who KNOWS WHAT THEYRE DOING. I got this done around October and am writing this now because I just realized I hadn't and so many people's hair probably got ruined already, so I thought I'd speak my voice. read more

The store is very clean and well organized, but service is lacking. There is only one cashier that cares for the long lines that form and the only person who can actually help customers on the floor is the manager. The manager's name was Amber and she was very rude to me when I asked her to compare a product for me. She told me that I could go somewhere else if I did not like what Ulta offered. It deterred me from buying the product. Then when I got to the cashier I asked him to call the manager to consult about my free birthday gift, he called her on their walkie-talkies, but the manager would not show up. She was telling the cashier to tell me that they could not help me and to tell me to contact corporate myself. I was persistent and I got her to show up. It was my birthday a couple of days before and I did not receive my free-gift email. It turns out that they input my email incorrectly. I don't live in the area of the store, the closest Ulta to me is 45 minutes away. When I brought this up to the manager she said that the only way I could get the gift was to call the corporate number. When I asked her if I had to do it myself, she walked away from me!! She did not offer good customer service whatsoever, she did not offer to call, she did not even give me the corporate number, she said that I could find it online and then just walked away. The cashier seemed embarrassed and he apologized very sincerely. When I called corporate, they told me that the manager should have helped me. The store managers need to know how to treat people like humans! Very displeased with my experience! read more
