I have to say you pay for what you get for and I Was being cheap on dying my hair so I decided to go here. The stylist was super friendly and nice but when it comes to hair dying he was not really experience on Balayage style. My hair was bleached and toned but the color turn out to be very ugly. I ask for red balayage because the stylist couldn't do blonde. I was really disappointed with the result because I receive bad comments from my family members and friend. I had to spend extra money to get it fixed elsewhere too! I was offer an appointment for redo but I decided to not come back because I am leaving for a trip soon and don't want to ruin my hair any further. Save your hair and don't go here for hair dye ! Came in to Ulta Beauty today hoping I could get a walk-in brow wax appointment, and was able to do just that (on a Saturday no less!). Shout out to Jaymee at the Brow Bar for making my brows look so dang good! She was super friendly and shaped my brows to perfection. This was my first time in an Ulta, and I really enjoyed the store. They have an amazing selection of makeup brands here including Morphe, and Kylie Cosmetics. This store also has other cool features like a facial section (no one was there today), and a hair salon. The only thing the store seemed to be lacking was beauty advisors. I believe there was only 1 on the floor (2 if you count the women working strictly for Chanel). There definitely should have been more help on the floor considering it is the weekend... read more

After posting that the girl ringing me up couldn't get my credit card to work and I had to swipe it over and over, and then she entered it manually, all the while blaming it on "their system", leaving me feeling like an idiot because my card kept being rejected, I had the wonderful experience of my credit card information being stolen. That same card, like, the night after this all happened. So I had to cancel my card and get a new one. I blame this girl and that company. The whole transaction seemed weird and wrong, from start to finish. AND it's a good thing I checked my card and the gift cards I purchased. My card was never charged, and while the gift cards had balances on them at first, they later went to zero. This company needs to hire people who aren't crooks. read more

How exciting is this!!! As a beauty and skincare lover, I was really stoked to see Ulta coming to Kailua. If you don't know Ulta, it's basically a mix between Longs and Sephora, so it has both high end and drugstore products. What makes it different is it also has other amenities, and sells hair tools like straighteners and blow dryers, which you don't find as much at places like Longs, or at all at Sephora. It's really nice and spacious so it's fun to stroll through. The only downside I've personally noticed is that there isn't much of a K-Beauty selection as I've seen online. I'm personally HUGE on Korean Beauty Products, so it was a bummer not to see COSRX (a popular brand) on the shelves, because I've seen that its online. Maybe it'll come and it'll just take some time..? We'll see. They also have tons of staff on hand so that's really great to see as well. The woman that looked like the manager was pacing inside the door on the phone . Sounding like just chatting .. Not a makeup enthusiast at all just the basic mascara and sometimes foundation. Ulta beauty is very known in the mainland so I was curious on what it looked like. This location is perfect because there is parking right in front (side) or you can park where the parking structure is. When I first walked in I was star struck to see the Kylie lip kits available. I usually only see these available online. They have tons of makeup products but I really loved how they not only have makeup stands for trials or sampling products but the also have a benifit brow bar. I went during the day and was surprised that there were not more workers on the floors asking if I needed assistance or help, especially since it's new. I've been repeatedly impressed with this location. The store is bright, clean and neat. They have a great selection of products and keep good stock considering the fact that they're serving the entire south side of Oahu. The employees I've interacted with have been truly fantastic and go above and beyond to reach out and connect with you, something that rarely happens at other locations I've been to in California. Monnet was extremely friendly and helpful in helped me find the products I was looking for and made awesome suggestions for products I ended up loving. I visited the salon today and was referred to Kekoa for his expertise in working with super wavy and curly hair and I was not disappointed. He took time to get to know my hair habits and asked tons of questions about my current routine to help guide the way he would cut my hair. Then as he was styling he walked me through step-by-step and made a ton of super helpful suggestions to embrace my hairs natural texture. I left feeling like an absolute educated curly queen. Not to mention he was so friendly and personable and just straight fun to talk to, which really helps when you're spending an hour with a stranger. Ulta beauty has finally arrived on the Windward side. So much easier and nicer to come to this store! Located right next door to California Pizza Kitchen in the old Pier One Imports spot. This location is bigger than the pearl city location. Not to mention, lots of covered parking. Just like the other location, it comes with a full salon, esthetician bar and they carry the MAC line. Come on in and you can receive a 10 minute facial for $10. Lots of friendly staff that are willing to help you. Store is nice and bright with lots of wiggle room. They have all your skincare, hair and makeup needs for every budget. read more

I love Ulta! They have such great items that are pretty affordable. My only bug is that they don't have all of the name brands that we all love like Glow recipe and such but other than that I love it. The bags that they give out with each order is so cute and I love how they always give out either a pink bag or an orange bad. Both are adorable with way. Keri does my hair and every single time she has verified the color and cut before she begins. A good hairstylist ensures clear communication with their customers and also lets you know if your desires are possible or not. If you want to look like a super model and you have trash-bag hair, Keri will be honest and tactful about it. Also Mohina teaches at the HCC beauty college and there's a reason why - she sculpts hair like a Renaissance artist. Time and money well spent. Oh and the Redken coloring products are high quality and durable. I visit every 4-7 weeks for a touch up. read more

I buy about 60% of my makeup from the drugstore (Target, usually) and 40% from Sephora. This summer I visited an Ulta in Arizona and I wasn't super impressed so I wasn't all that excited for Ulta to open here. I decided to stop in to the new Kailua store on a whim since I was in the area and I was very pleasantly surprised. This Ulta is (almost) everything what I'd want in a cosmetics store. The store is large and wasn't crowded when I visited. I was pretty much left alone to browse but when I had a question, a salesperson was quickly available to help me. She was super friendly and helped swatch some foundations so I could choose the perfect shade. The only drawback is that they only offer take home samples of a few brands (Clinique and NAC were 2 of the brands I remember). The "drugstore brand" section is huge, with some brands that I haven't seen before in local stores like Target, Wal-Mart, Longs, Walgreens, etc. They also had a larger selection of the brands (example: great selection of NYX). I found the prices comparable to Target which satisfied me. There is an Ulta Salon and a Benefit Brow Bar on the premises as well. While I can't give any feedback on those yet, I may try them in the future! read more

I'm a stay-at-home Mom that has been looking more on the tired-side than I'd like to admit. Love that Ulta came to Kailua because the thought of shopping at Sephora at Ala Moana Mall gives me an anxiety attack thinking about how crowded that store is. Ulta Beauty in Kailua is not that at all. It does have an amazing selection. Caveat: if you don't know what you want/need or are generally unfamiliar with make-up, coming here can be VERY OVERWHELMING, and after about 20 minutes of wandering the store, trying to figure out what I needed, a sales associate finally asked me if I needed help. The store didn't have many customers so I was getting somewhat upset that no one even acknowledged me for so long... That said, I was assisted by Kyannah. When she asked if I needed help, she was super-knowledgeable, kind, friendly, and very easy to work with. She listened to my needs and did a great job showing me products that ticked all the boxes. Kyannah salvaged what started as a bad experience. She was GREAT. When I go back to Ulta, I will look to work with her. read more

I received that service from Keri at the ULTA Beauty Kailua location. She is so knowledgeable, attentive, and carefully caters to your needs/wants for your hair. She gave great suggestions and helped teach me styling techniques as she did them on my hair. All of the above for a really great price. Check your receipts before you leave the store. I was charged for two items extra I did not buy. I went back the next day and it took forever for the sales person to go look at the camera records to make sure I didn't steal them. I felt so insulted l. I had called the sales person that day to tell her she had made a mistake. She realized I was right, but she was off today and couldn't vouch for me. The staff was nice enough but I did see the eye rolling in regards to me that the staff exchanged. The original item was also rung up at a higher price than the shelf so I showed her the shelf tag to correct it too. That was the eye roll!! Really?? I don't look like a street person. I'm a cosmetologist and decided to buy $170 worth of hair products from them instead of Cosmoprof where I get a steeper discount. Saving some gas now doesn't seem worth my time, treatment and insult. I normally spend $100-150 or more at Ulta each time but I will just save myself the trouble and use my amazon for makeup and Cosmoprof for my hair supplies. read more

The staff is rude. You can be standing in the aisle looking at something and they don't even say excuse me or anything when they look for something behind you. Other staff on the floor were all congregated in one area so I have to walk all around the store looking for someone. I also wanted to buy shampoo and of course there were none on the shelf. Definitely would avoid getting your hair done here. My wife went in with dark brown hair and wanted the color touched up, and a few inches taken off. She left with blonde hair. The "stylist" claimed she had a toner that would fix it partway through and that just made it blonder. Additionally when this trainwreck of an appointment appeared to be over the lady insisted on curling her hair despite the fact that she told them she doesn't like her hair curled. Then when my wife told her how she liked her hair parted she was told that wasn't the "right way" and the staff member proceeded to part it how she wanted to. Don't waste your time or money here. They will ruin your hair and when they claim they're fixing it they'll just make it worse. They also don't care about your opinion or what you want done and will do whatever they decide "looks good." read more

ZERO stars for this place. I went in to get my hair and makeup done for an event. I'm not very good at doing my own hair and makeup so I was really looking forward to feeling beautiful. My hair is so damaged after getting the stylist drenched it in hairspray and then proceeded to curling my hair at a very high temperature. There was literally smoke coming out of my hair. He was blowing on it. Not to mention he brushed my hair after putting the hairspray in so I had what looked like dandruff ALL in my hair from the roots to the ends. To top it all off, my hair smelled burnt and the stylist actually burned my face. As far as my makeup goes, I wanted a smokey eye look with brown on the crease and a dark navy on the lid. I left there looking like a racoon. Not only did she use navy and black very high on my eyes but she put a lot of dark shadow on the bottom part of my eyes which made me look like I hadn't slept in days. Lashes were falling off before I even left the store and there was sooo Much cakeyness from the foundation. I have never felt more ugly in my life. Ended up going to my stylist to get my hair fixed and had to wash my face and do my own makeup when I got home. WORST place ever!! Thankfully Hi Lites salon helped fix my hair for free. They are life savers!! They tried to fix my makeup but it was just too bad. These pictures are what they looked like after I took a clean brush and tried to take some of the product off to lighten the eyes a bit. Believe me, they looked much worse before hand! My first time ever trying an Ulta Salon. When I first made my appointment the master stylist Roxy was so warm and welcoming I was sold! I couldn't stay but made an appointment for the weekend and was so excited.... I showed up to a very frustrated stylist, Roxy, that seemed very agitated. She politely asked if I wanted some water and said I'll be right with you. I figured it was a quick trip to do something and she would be right back. About five minutes later I see her coming out of the employee room melting frustration towards a person. She walked right past me and went out onto the floor. I waited another few minutes thinking she was coming right back and nothing. I got up and saw her in the aisle but not with anyone.??? By then 10 minutes had passed and I walked to the assistance and said thank you but I was canceling my appointment. He mumbled something but I did not hear him and less. I walked all the way to Whole Foods, back out of the store and passed the Ulta and in the front there she was smoking a cigarette. I walked past and went over to Target to meet my husband. Five minutes later the phone rang and a very nice Roxy called to tell me how sorry she was she heard I left? I explained I knew she was upset about something but you left me waiting there with no explanation. I did not tell her I saw her out front smoking a cigarette and laugh to myself that I would have sat on the chair for 30 minutes waiting for her. She explained she was helping a disgruntled customer and I in turn told her that was fine all I needed was some sort of an explanation and thank her for her time and we hung up. Might sound like a stupid complaint but If someone is going to drop over $100 plus tip at your store you may want to treat them like they are somewhat important :-) sorry, I want to feel a little bit special at least for an hour or two! That is the name of the game and customer service. Fake it till you make it and don't let the customer see you sweat. If she had explained the situation she probably would have gotten even a bigger tip! I can't say anything about the other stylist but I personally will find somewhere else. I love Ulta so that's why I at least gave it three stars! Update I did get a phone call and a huge apology. Maybe she was just having a bad day :-) all the best and happy Sunday! After she was done she didn't come back. I had to ask someone else. The other person was way nicer but after that, I don't want to go back! Not worth it! I was super excited to peek into Ulta as there has never been an Ta on O'ahu. The first attention grabber was the beautiful displays welcoming me with their presence! Plus! There is a 21 day deal I am aware of which has got me more excited and so after looking around the store, I found a plethora of brands I recognized right off the bat:) Clinique was a huge shock factor. This location has a designated assistant that was so attentive in helping me find the best products in her area for my face. And being a gentleman that dabbles in makeup or facial glory takes nothing away from receiving stellar services! In fact! I feel I received great treatment! By the entire store. I scheduled an appointment at the Kailua, HI store on March 7th. The person I went to previously was not listed so I let it choose for me. My appointment was supposed to be on March 18th at 12:40pm for an eyebrow wax. I got a text message yesterday confirming my appointment with Sharon K. for 12:45 on March 18th. I got there in time for my appointment today and after checking in another worker asked me to wait because Sharon was with another client. Sharon came out shortly after to tell me that she was doing highlights on another customer. She said she called me earlier (11am), but I didn't answer. I explained that I was at work. She did not leave a voicemail. She asked if I could come back later. I explained that I was there on my lunch break and could not return later. She apologized and said she would cancel my appointment. She was apologetic, but to me that is unacceptable. Just because my service didn't cost as much as the client she was with does not mean that it was okay to have me just accept that I couldn't get my appointment time. I scheduled way in advance and made arrangements to be there on time. I know things happen, but she shouldn't have agreed to do a highlight if it would cross into someone else's appointment. And the fact that the only alternative was for me to come back later or cancel is wrong. I am very disappointed. read more

My hair looks so great, and it has been through a LOT (to say the least) prior to her fixing it, after she is done using a station, she immediately sanitizes it for the next use. It's like the drug store, Sally's beauty supply, and Sephora all in one. So convenient and this particular location always gives amazing service.
