I had a terrible experience today at Ulta when I went in simply to get my eye brows done. I do NOT recommend going to Ian for your eyebrows. I was supposed to have Gina, whom I have previously like but Ian took me instead. He started by saying I needed to tint my eyebrows, even though they were my natural color. Then, after he was finished waxing my eyebrows, he started to apply eye liner WITHOUT ASKING. I am one to wear the most minimal amount of makeup if any, and he went ahead and applied the thickest, heaviest layer of eye liner anyways. I had to buy makeup remover on my way out. read more

Went in with a pocket full of money to spend. Stood at a rack with limited options, sold out of everything I wanted, and as I tried to pick out something similar employees walked by me like I was invisible. The area I was looking at was sold out of almost everything and was poorly stocked. No one said hello, noone asked me if I needed help. Walked in when they just opened, not like they were busy. Comedy of errors. Just waited a half an hour to get my two free gifts. Manager barely looked at me or acknowledged me. The cashier couldn't find the gifts. And instead of telling me that she couldn't find them- she just didn't mention the gifts. When I asked about the gifts, after getting another cashier involved, she found the gifts. Couldn't figure out how to ring them up properly. I've been in retail for 30 years. And I would never make a customer wait as long as I did, while I tried to figure out how to ring something up. Oh and I also should mention that my coupon didn't work either LOL. I won't be coming back here anytime soon. read more

I was a fan of this store for many years but after one too many bad experiances I just can not do it anymore. I will stick with the other specialty beauty chain and my fave debt. store for my higher end skincare, makeup, and nailpolish. I gave it 2 stars because I reserve 1 star reviews for truely appalling experiances, and my experiances at this Ulta ( I can not speak for other Ulta's because this is the only one I shop) have just added up to.....meh. 1. Today I stopped in to get a few things and my free birthday gift which the email said was a special NYX eyeshadow pallet. They had just sent me the email 3 days ago on my actual birthday and when I showed it to the cashier she said they had run out. The same thing happened last year. That seems a bit like a pattern no? None of my other birthday coupons got turned away and I recieved 7 more at least but these were $ off coupons or free drinks or whatevers that the places have all the time. 2. I still purchased my items but was not assisted in the store and had not been able to locate two of the items I wanted- a crystal nail file and a specific nail polish and I could not find anyone to assist me. 3. I wandered and just gave up on those 2 items but not before noticing a lady testing OPI nailpolishes on her toenails. That is a great way to spread fungus. That aisle is kind of hidden from view of any other aisle. Beware before spending your hard earned coin on nail polish at Ulta. There were no associates around to help anyone or even just to stop this gross kind of behavior. 4. The cashier never asked me if I had found everything ok but at that point I had had it anyway. Hair services subpar. I asked for layers and was told my "hair is too long." What? I asked for a blowout and got a blow dry in 1 direction ... down -- so I ended up with flat on top (zero volume) and frizzy ends (no flat iron used). If you are looking for a high quality hair stylist, go elsewhere. read more

I'm pretty much afraid of make up but went to Amber to get my make up done for an event. She listened to what I was looking for and kept it light and natural. She was willing to make adjustments as we went to make sure I left feeling comfortable with the look. I would definitely ask for Amber when you book! read more

Should be negative stars!! I have been a customer of Ulta for years. I placed an order in August 2021 and received the normal shipping updates but it sat with Lasership for a week. I emailed Ulta but was given only evasive auto responses. Three days later a received an email that it was delivered the day before. It was not delivered. If you look at the times of delivery - the box was loaded on the truck and delivered to my house in 3 minutes. I contacted Lasership about them lying and was told they could not resolve my inquiry and provided no proof of delivery. I have called Ulta numerous times and keep getting told they are escalating this situation but in two weeks no one has called me back. Do not waste your money!!! This company is horrible! I will never buy another item from them. They don't sell anything that you can't buy somewhere else. So beware that you will be giving money to a company that does not care if they steal from you. read more

They sell some awesome brands here like Philosophy! The prices were high though, too much for me. Everything is full price. I couldn't afford anything that I really really wanted. Even the cover girl type products were more expensive than the drugstore or walmart. If I could afford it this would be the place for me! Free Urban Decay eyeshadow coupon during your birthday month! I got an email telling me to come in for free shadow and I love the color!! This is a great store to shop in. Anytime I come in there is always an employee greeting me and asking if I need any help. Several months ago I went in looking for some foundation or powder. A very friendly woman came over and was super helpful in finding the perfect foundation for my sensitive skin. She applied it and made sure it was the right color by asking me to stand by the Windows outside. The color was perfect. Then she even went above and beyond and applied bronzer and some eyebrow pencil and lipstick. I was very pleased with my free makeover that I bought all she put on me. I highly recommend Ulta for all of your beauty needs and any questions you have. read more

I went in yesterday to find a new foundation. The first woman did not really listen to my needs and the second person who helped me was the worst of all. She pushed me on the natural makeup and when I said I wasn't interested she made me feel terrible about myself. I walked out of the store in tears and will never be back. This review is for the salon only . I came into my appointment a couple minutes late , and they knew I was going to be late because I had called earlier . Anyways when I ran in they had already broke down all the equipment necessary for my facial 30 minutes early . It was 6:35 They said that the shift ended at 7:00 and it takes half an hour to break down -and clean the equipment . If she had just waited and done her job she would still have had to stay an extra 30 minutes to clean up . If you can't do your job , don't book clients in the first place . Unbelievably inconsiderate and rude , they don't deserve your money you're better off somewhere else . read more

This Ulta has gone downhill. I walked in the other day after several months and was very surprised at the lax customer service. The brow bar was super packed and I overheard a woman complaining that she was still waiting for her appointment, 45 minutes later. The store was dirty and although there were several employees on the floor, no one really seemed to want to help or answer questions. I miss Rachel, who used to work at the Brow bar. She was always so helpful and professional and she is amazing at brows. I recently found out she's at The Beauty Mark on Main Street in Broad Brook. Ulta's a decent place and to be honest, it's about time this area got a major beauty store. It's a little like Sephora but not really. It carries some of the same brands (Urban Decay, bare minerals, tarte, LORAC, Dermalogica, Philosophy, etc.) but it also carries a lot of drugstore brands too. Ulta has a huge variety of bath/body stuff, O.P.I. and Essie nail colors, and hair products. Truthfully, it's not the type of beauty store I really enjoy. I focus more on the higher-end makeup than anything else, and the lack of variety isn't appealing. Furthermore, the amount of products offered in each brand isn't always the most extensive either. Nonetheless, it's a good store. Why am I giving it such a low score? Because of the bumbling staff. Honestly, it's a hit or miss situation, and in my experience it's usually the latter. Some of them are rude, some of them have little to no knowledge in what you need, and others just smile haplessly without offering help. Went here today with a gigantic shopping list. It was crowded, as can be expected on a Saturday. I was asked if I needed help right away. Everyone was super friendly but not forceful. I received help from 6 or 7 different salespeople and stylists. If someone didn't know about a certain product, they ran and got someone else who could help within seconds. I really liked how honest and truly helpful all of the employees were. I left with better products than I was planning on getting. They don't try to sell you crazy high-priced items, they just try to help you find what you need which was awesome since I needed to get so many things today. The store was very clean, not sure about all the reviews saying it was dirty. Maybe they mean the salon area or something. I'm definitely coming back here. I went to Ulta for the first time yesterday 11/24/14. I was looking for a makeup kit and brushes for my daughter. After walking around for about 5 mins I began looking for an Aasociiate for assistance, I couldn't find one. There were about 7-8 people in the store and I couldn't tell who was an Associate. I walked by the cosmetic area about 3xs and not once did the 2 employees there offer to help me. My fourth time walking by, there were a couple of customers and the one guy asked if he could help them, mind you I walked by him 3xs with not even a hi, they said they were fine and he ignored me. He was about to walk past my husband but my husband stopped him and said we need help. The store is a bit overwhelming and not once was I made to feel comfortable. I spent 25 mins in the store, NEVER again. The 2guys at the makeup counter need Customer Service skills. If I were a Store Manager or Area director over this store I would be embarrassed about the Customer Service being provided there. I would not recommend this store to anyone. read more
