First off...customer service is an unknown concept at this location. Secondly....usually the managers are there to help, you know....the paying customers or their team members; however the "manager" on "duty" on 7/12/19 was a total joke....she wasn't even WEARING makeup and was a total unprofessional slob. Third, when you call "corporate" there is literally NO ONE to help you...and I mean NO ONE. I asked to speak to a supervisor and their response? "Sorry there's no supervisor here today." I'm sorry? What the actual heck? (This was at 1 in the afternoon on Friday...must be nice to be able to not be at work on a Friday at 1pm) I asked for the number of someone who could fix or even HEAR my complaint, and their response? "Sorry. We don't have that type of information. - so your telling me, you don't even give information to YOUR COMPANY EMPLOYEES WHO WORK FOR YOUR COMPANY?! she said "google it, and I'm sure you'll find a number" - to her, I honestly hope she finds the number to her local unemployment office. I have been going to Ulta since I knew what makeup was; and this location just completely blew my mind at their unprofessionalism and their downright unwillingness to help. They do have some great products, but the staff - oy the staff!! They are consistently horrible. Rude, nasty, and full of themselves. They dain to come to th register to ring you up. There is never ever a thank you from any of them. My favorite experience was when I arrived 3 minutes prior to store opening, 6 month old baby in my arms, during a heavy snow fall. 3 associates were walking out of the front door. One looked at me and said, "yeah, we're not open yet". She then proceeded to light up with the other two. I had to stand there with my baby and wait for the thoughtless little darlings to finish smoking and open the store for me. This is a perfect example of the service I get. I went to this location today and was not a all pleased with the snobby service that I received. I had manufacture coupons along with the Ulta coupon on my phone. She rung up the items and I gave her my phone coupon first, then my manufacture coupons. She immediately read the makeup product (understandable), scanned my coupon. For my next items she slid my coupons back telling me that I couldn't use them because it was for eye products, I said they are eye products. No apology from her. She proceeded to read the coupon and told me that I could not use them all in the same transactions. I had to put my most expensive product back and purchase my other items in five separate transactions! I've been to another location, (Bolingbrook) and had NO PROBLEMS with a similar transaction with coupons Izabella from the Oakbrook location displayed very poor customer service, and in my opinion I think it was a touch of racial profiling based off her interaction with me. I was told by a friend to try getting my hair colored at Ulta since she has had a good experience at the one by her. I do not ever try anything different to my hair but decided to try balayage on my hair. I was super nervous to do it but I found Shannon at the salon who was said to be great at that coloring style. I was thrilled with the outcome and it is exactly what I wanted. She was very nice and professional the whole time. As a bonus, you get 20% off your service as a first time client too! Absolutely, positivily the least caring store/company for customer follow-up. I purchased gift cards for my 3 daughters, I even had the clerk double check that no one had tampered with the sleeve or the scratch-off validation box. 5 days after Christmas, the first daughter went into that same store to use the gift card and was told the card no longer had value. After the hour wait and passed around on their customer voice-maze, I finally got a person claiming to be a "Queen" in these matters. She said that card had already been redeemed that very day. After a panel of questions, the "Queen" was satisfied the card was NOT redeemed by my daughter. I was instructed to have the others NOT attempt to use their cards and the "Queen" would research and cancel the others, then issue "e-gift" cards withing 48 hours. We are on the 6th day. I am again on hold with Ulta, being told the wait would be 15 minutes for an agent. That was 40 minutes ago. Any father wants something nice for his girls. I hate to see them, as well as myself, dismissed by lack of concern and follow-up. read more

So I went to this location yesterday with a list of specific products I was looking for. Some of them were drugstore products I had never tried but were suggested by a few YouTube beauty vloggers. The store was very active due to being a gorgeous Sunday afternoon, and it was late afternoon. I did need some assistance but wasn't yet looking for anyone to help. Long story short one of the girls helped me with a quick question, and she was on break. Very nice of her that is great customer service as that wasn't expected!! Without me even asking for help, Ikhalas came to assist me and spent a good amount of time with me going down my list until Monica came and took over. Monica also spent a lot of time with me making sure I found everything I was looking for. Prior to leaving there was one more item I decided I wanted but was out of stock on the shelf. I asked one of the Stila artists, who went in back and was able to find the only one left.. I found out she was already off and ready to go home. It was just so nice that she still went out of her way to help me when she really didn't have to, and was super friendly!! **Bottom line, the customer service I received at this store was superb. These girls are fabulous!! All have great attitudes and are willing to help regardless of how busy they are. Pretty much everything I was looking for was in stock, despite the remodel they are about to go through. This will definitely be my go to Ulta location!! Fabulous job ladies you are awesome!!! One thing that's nice about Ulta is that you can shop for low-end and high-end products all in the same place. They also have a very, very good selection of fingernail polish, the best I've ever seen. That said, the customer service drives me elsewhere. I was trying to decide whether or not I wanted to delve into Bare Minerals, and instead of showing me the product and how well or not it works, I was given a card for a "Spring Beauty Event" that was taking place *3 weeks later*. Apparently, Ulta employees are only allowed to help you during "Beauty Events". Want to take home a sample of something to try before you buy? Nope, Ulta doesn't do that. Want to try something out in the store? Well, I hope you like applying eyeshadow with q-tips. Want to return something you bought but it didn't work out? Ha, not in this dojo! Seriously, it's like paying Lord and Taylor prices for Walgreens service. (By contrast, Sephora has tons of well-stocked testing stations so you can play to your heart's content (and I have, trust me!) and their employees will show you any product you want whenever you want, often giving you samples without you even having to ask. And their return policy is FABULOUS... opened or not, it doesn't matter. If you don't like the product, you can return it for a refund or store credit.) I've found a couple of times that Ulta's catalogue will advertise something that the store doesn't actually carry. Oh, and those $3.50 off coupons you get every so often? Read the fine print. You can't use them on half the stuff in the store! Their premium make up selection pales in comparison to other stores. Even the "mini" Sephora in JC Penneys has more of a selection of popular premium make up than Ulta does. They do have a better selection of the cheaper lines, but a really poor amount of non-make-up supplies like brushes, cotton pads, nail-polish remover, etc. For things like that, you'll have better luck at Sally's or even Target. I'll come here every so often if I want fingernail polish (aMAZing selection of OPI!) or if I can find something to use the coupon on, but otherwise, I can get better selection and service elsewhere. read more

I received a color and trim on my hair and at first I was okay with it... But as the days go by the more I'm just disappointed. I asked for a dark base with caramel peek-a-boo high lights and basically all she did was color my hair dark, the same color all around. There are no highlights and my old highlights are show up under the darker color and not in a good way. I paid WAY too much for this service and was just left disappointed. This review is for the salon at this ulta. I came in and got a color and haircut with Jessica W let me tell you there is a reason why she is the master stylist and costs as much. She's amazing I felt so comfortable the entire time I was there 139.00 got me an incredible color (she had to charge me for an additional box which was fine cause I have alot of hair) and one kick butt haircut. I absolutely LOVE Ulta! However this store lacks some serious customer service. The last two times I have been to this particular store no one even speaks to me. At other stores I'm generally greeted at the front door or at least asked if I need help during my shopping experience. Not the case at this Oak Brook location. This location is awful. I wandered the store looking for what I needed before having to flag down an employee who had no idea if they had the item I needed. The online store had the item available but she didn't know anything about it and said it was probably discontinued (not true). Then after finding a substitute I waited in line for fifteen minutes while one cashier worked and all the other employees "worked" around the store. One employee came up and did something on the computer for a few minutes before leaving again. Image is everything, I don't know what every employee was doing but when there are ten people in line waiting to checkout it makes sense to me to help out the one cashier. I blame myself for going in with a picture and not researching more. Went in for a color and cut and paid a big price for it. literally and figuratively. I could have had the same results doing it myself. Next time, I will be grabbing a box of Feria and doing it myself. Color came out spotty and is supposed to have 3 colors in it. You wouldn't be able to tell. I went there for highlights and did not even look like I did anything. Paid over $150 for curtain root touch up and highlights. Went back again for a fix it and the process damaged my hair. I was not charged that day but my hair ever since is rubbery and I am using olaplex to fix this issue which is helping but very slowly. Since then I took off 8 inches off my hair. My experience with ulta through the many years is go to someone that knows to work with your hair type and has many years of experience under their belt. A senior stylist or salon manager would be a good start. The staff is great and friendly but the service is good with the pros not beginners. read more

If I want your help I will ask for it. I am one of those people who doesn't want to be bothered unless I need something and then I want some help (see my thoughts on Nordstrom). I think every single person working in the place approached me and asked if I needed help. And I suppose that could be counted as good service by some but I would, as previously mentioned, like to not be bothered while shopping. The layout here is a bit annoying and the aisles are far too narrow. The selection is pretty much the same as every other Ulta. No sign at the register telling people where to line up makes for some potential issues with other customers so you have to pay attention to where you're standing. Lots of Zoya polishes this last visit, which was nice. read more

I was in the other night because I needed a new foundation and I was looking for some recommendations. Jess was my savior. She talked with me about my skin type and what I was looking for in a foundation and led me over to the Tarte Amazonian Clay foundation, and helped me get a perfect color match. At first I was nervous because the swatch looked a little orangey but she did a great job explaining about how it would blend and how the product would help moisturize my dry skin. She also helped me compare different brow products and gave me great recommendations for primers as well. It was the first experience I've had at this location where someone actually took time out of their evening to help me find exactly what I needed (and more!) What girl doesn't love a place that takes you back to childhood of playing in your mother's makeup and nail polish. I love Ulta for all of those reasons. Ulta carries great products and I just love the little trial size items at the register that you can try without spending a ton of money, not to use it, and have it just sit in your bathroom. I have found some really great products this way. I love the Ulta beauty card as well because I always end up getting a few bucks off of my purchase. In these times I need all the coins I can get :) read more

The prices are ok but some could be lower since walmart does have 3dollars cheaper for the revlon and loreal. The store is an unorganized mess, they also do not carry many of the products offered online (that's are stated they do carry in that specific store). I'm an avid supporter of all things pretty and generally, I consider Ulta to be the fall back when I don't want to be tempted into spending too much at Sephora. I can usually get in and out quickly... but, then, I also usually go during the week. Stopped in here this past Saturday and, while I met a few people who could provide me with the information I needed for my purchase, the sales associates were irritatingly intrusive. You couldn't pause to look at something without at least three people asking if you need help. Now, I love good service, but I was asked no less than 20 times (in 30 minutes) if I needed help, if I wanted to get my face made up, if I was interested in an upcoming smashbox event... etc. If it were just once for each associate, I'd say "okay, that's just their job". But when you've said you're not interested three times to the same associates (PLURAL!) that's just ridiculous. They had at least six people working their small make-up section (not including the demo people) and every one of them asked me more than once if I needed help. It will probably still be my go to when I'm worried about overspending at Sephora, but I'm restricting it to weekdays... the weekends there are just too crowded and pushy. read more

Really impressed by the excellent service and expertise of Nancy. She is the store manager, I believe. I got two hair styles done from her. An updo in March and curls in April. Both were fantastic. She is such a pro. My hair is frizzy and really unmanageable. She worked wonders on my hair. I got compliments from everyone both days and my curls stayed till the end of the party, from 2 PM till 3 AM in the morning. I got make up done too and that was also very good. Would highly recommend this location. This is my first review for any product or service, so that already says a lot about how happy I am with the service. read more

One of the worst experiences that I have ever had at an Ulta. Rudest and most unprofessional employees that I have ever had to deal with. I opened the door for one employee and she completely ignored me which I didn't think much about but when I went into the door there was 3 employees in an isle gossiping and I said excuse me because I needed to get past and they didn't even acknowledge me so I had to go around which I didn't mind.Then when me and my sister were in line and one employee said that they were checking out people by the salon and I told her that I was okay staying in line because I was one person away from being checked out but she got really rude with me and rolled her eyes so I was said okay I'll go but then my sister stayed in line so I went to go back to tell her to come with me and the same employee yelled in my face and told me to go to the salon so then I snapped at her and told her that I had to get my sister. Once I got to the salon the same employee followed me there and started talking to the cashier at the salon who was checking me out, she then looked directly at me and said "I can't understand why people wouldn't come here when I told them to like it's so stupid, the line is so much shorter" and rolled her eyes at me. I have never in my life been in that sort of situation EVER. I downloaded yelp just to make this because I do not ever usually care about customer service because I understand that sometimes people have off days and are tired which I totally understand however this situation was completely and utterly unnecessary. This review is strictly for the salon - the store it's self is fine. I got my hair cut here on Sunday and the girl who did it cut a good 1.5-2 inches more off than I wanted, and didn't really style it at all. I wanted it loosely curled to see how to do it in hopes I could replicate it. She basically gave me a bob, blow-dried it, and flipped the ends out. Not at all what I wanted. Not to mention they called and asked if I could come in earlier, then rushed me out without doing what I asked for. I generally like Ulta stores. This one is closest to my work so I come here often on my lunch hour. Lines are always long. It was unusually hot in there. We stood in the line for at least 20 minutes, 10 of those we hadn't moved at all. When I finally got up there where there were only 2 cashiers, I presented my two birthday coupons. I received the free "birthday" eyeshadow palette, but when I got home noticed they did not take off the $10 discount of the second coupon. I tried calling the store, went to an automated message that ironically repeated the message that they understood my time was valuable. I spent exactly 20 minutes and 36 seconds (my phone timed it) and still no actual person came to the phone. This type of service is why I shop online. read more

I purchased Clarins skincare from this store paying $180 and it did NOT DO what was promised by the representative. The excuse I was given was that that person probably worked for Clarins and not Ulta and I could not get a refund because it's been more than 60 days and the product was almost gone. I called the customer service number and they said after speaking with upper management they could not override the store. I could've at least been given credit for half of the purchase back to my Ulta Card since it really takes 12 to 16 weeks to see if a skin product works but I wasn't offered anything. I will be paying off my card and cancelling it. I went to Nordstroms and I won't have that problem there. I was told to just bring what I purchased back if I'm not satisfied and there is no time limit. The product cost too much to use it with no results. read more

I made an appointment to get my hair blown out for a weekend. I specifically asked for a blow out when I made the appointment and the lady on the phone sounded like she knew what I was talking about. I went in to my appointment the lady who was doing my hair asked me if i was getting a hair cut and was suprised when I said no. Then she asked what I wanted and I said a blowout. She had no idea what I meant. I told her with a round brush just blow it out. She asked if I wanted it straightened with a straightener or curled with a curling iron. I said no, just a simple blow out. She proceeded to dry my hair into a frizz mess and then curled it into curly sue ringlets with a curling iron. How is that blow out and how does a hair stylist not know what that is? I had to go to Mario Triocci 10 minutes after I left ulta and recieved a proper blowout in less than 25 minutes.
