SOME GOOD PRODUCTS WITH AVERAGE SERVICE ================================ They do sell some Korean skincare items like ANUA. I do like the Elf C & C Cream and have purchased that a few times. Don't buy the Kylie Jenner lip duo crap. The pencil has very little and can't be sharpened. The color of the lip gloss doesn't look the same as the color on my hand. I wish I didn't throw away the box so I could return that. The cashier will ignore the long lines to just chat with the customer at the register. There is no help in the aisles. read more

I believe there is a healthy balance between providing good customer service and allowing customers to shop comfortably without feeling overwhelmed. Unfortunately, that balance was completely missing during my shopping experience in the makeup department today. I've been shopping at Ulta Pasadena for years, I don't know what happened today. Throughout my visit, I was approached by approximately six or seven different staff members asking whether I was "finding everything okay." While I understand that employees are encouraged to assist customers, being approached repeatedly every few minutes felt excessive and intrusive rather than helpful. By the fifth interaction, I politely asked one of the employees whether the staff worked on commission because the constant check-ins were becoming difficult to ignore. Later, after another employee approached me, I jokingly--but genuinely--asked whether it was really necessary for nearly every member of the floor staff to check on me after I had already confirmed multiple times that I did not need assistance. We had a brief conversation, and I assumed the interruptions would stop. Unfortunately, they did not. Shortly after, another employee approached me for a second time and asked if I needed help finding anything. After I politely responded, "No, thank you," she remained nearby, rearranging products, standing in close proximity to me, and repeatedly watching me from the corner of her eye. Whether intentional or not, her behavior made me feel as though I was being monitored rather than assisted. At that point, I handed her the items I had intended to purchase, walked to the front of the store, and requested to speak with a manager. Ironically, my experience was the exact opposite of the customer service complaints. I received so much attention that it felt less like customer service and more like loss prevention. I cannot say for certain what motivated the excessive monitoring, but the experience left me uncomfortable enough to leave without making a purchase. I would suggest full staff on a slow day to clean the shelves (I got makeup all over my sweater) and re-stock the aisles versus harassing customers. I went to Monrovia Ulta afterwards, approached by two sale associates and that was it. I got the products I needed for my special event. read more

UPDATE:The assistant manager reached out today to apologize and offer any support the salon could, to make this right. We had a great talk and I really believe this was an unfortunate and isolated incident. I have upgraded my rating based on the stellar customer service we have received from the management there. The managers have been outstanding trying to resolve this. TL;DR - Don't take your child here for kids cuts. They have a pattern of not completing them. My experience so closely mirrors Mayra's below, it feels like this may be a pattern for the salon. My child's cut was moved over to a different stylist, after we were already seated in our chairs (stylist was not trained in shorter haircuts or clippers). Then 30 minutes later, the stylist we were moved to said she wouldn't be able to get to us today (after 45 minutes of waiting). The manager offered to give us the cut the following day and comped. Reluctantly, we agreed to bring them by after school the following day, but after reading Mayra's experience at the follow-up/ rescheduling, we decided to cancel all together. I don't feel I can trust they will honor their word and keep our reservation, and I do not want to see my child disappointed like that again. read more

It's a great alternative to Sephora for the high/low feel. But every time I go here, I am ALWAYS ignored. No matter how much time or money I spend. I can be perusing all the aisles, sampling items, inspecting packages, nothing. Then they have the audacity to ask me if I want to sign up for a cc when I check out. So why do I go back? Went back to the fragrance section and still no one came to offer help. The store was not busy, there were a handful of patrons however they were not occupying the team members attention. This was a bad experience. I came to get a hair cut and I found out that I was competing with another client who was already there. My hair cut was rushed and it's nothing like I wanted. They don't even include the blow dry. How are we supposed to know if we like it if that's an extra fee? I pay salon prices for the salon experience. Not coming here again. The combs and brushes have hair from other clients and the stylists aren't very professional. read more

The problem was that I was paying professional prices for not so professional services from my stylist. On December of last year, we went to Ulta and had the fortune to be attended by Sabina. She's exceptional and had helped us choose good products for skincare. We returned a few times later and didn't find her, until today, when we came back and found her! Again, Sabina was happy to help us again! She has incredible customer service, she's very kind and knows a lot about the products in the store was able to give us advice on what the select once again. We really appreciate Sabina's help!! I had a terrible experience, I booked a Tinsel appt at 6:45pm for my toddler. I arrived early, I was told I would have to wait because I was early. (Sure I knew that I just like to be on time) but time quickly passed and suddenly I had been waiting for almost 1hr. The girl finally came to apologize and said something had come up but I could reschedule or she could see what she could do. At that point I just left. At 7:30pm I received a voicemail that they were now ready and but she would be leaving at 8pm. I booked for today, 12:15. I could see the person I had booked with she was not with a client, and it was very uncomfortable as I could also see and hear whispering between the girl from the day before, the girl from today and the girl who checked us in both days. Time was passing again so I very nicely asked if we would be seen or had to wait again. I was told I would be seen by a DIFFERENT stylist, still I had to wait 30min past my scheduled time. And was told my toddler could choose 2 hair colors for the inconvenience, PLUS a discount. Okay thanks. When she sat on the chair I noticed only 1 color when we had chosen 2 and so I told her. I was so upset to see how thin the hair pieces were that she was using when I could see another girl next to her also getting tinsel and they were using nice full pieces of color hair. That frustrated me because you can barely even see that she had tinsel so I walked away and let my husband stay cause at that point I was losing my shit after everything prior. I should've never walked away because she ended up only using 1 color of hair and didn't even trim properly to blend. Oh and our discount was $2 off LOL. Also you might see 2 colors (blue and purple) but that was only 1 color, it was supposed to be light purple and dark purple the light one is like holographic which is why it looks blue. Kaylee is THEE BEST hairstylist in Ulta beauty hair salon she transformed my hair from a very dark black to golden blonde, others said they couldn't do it or it was impossible and tried to charge me a thousand dollars for it but Kaylee did it with a reasonabley good price and left me amazingly beautiful golden locks she is real hard worker and very good at what she does I recommend her to everyone if you want your dream hair go to Kaylee she's the best!! read more

On Thursday 8/7 I went in just for hair dye and for my teen daughter to shop with her gift card. I was not expecting to buy anything, but I have been on the hunt for a tinted moisturizer with SPF. I was here last Saturday to purchase some essential items and makeup restock. When I came in no one greeted me and felt a bit empty. I was so frustrated trying to find the rem beauty section only to find it in a small corner. I wanted to look for a specific item from rem beauty, and I tried asking for help but two associates ignored me, and they decided to have a conversation, which is okay but when it comes to wanting help from an associate, there was no one to help me look for what I specifically needed for the future concert event. I work in retail and sales, I always ask customers if they have any questions to let me know or if they are ready to check out to let me know as well. I felt very uncomfortable and decided to just get what I really needed, then left. I will never go back to this location again. The one in Burbank is so much better or the one in Orange County. I feel so bad writing this post but felt it was not okay for how I was treated by the associates. read more

My first time getting a haircut and blow out with Ulta Salon. The pricing is pretty standard and they had a lot of availability for a last minute visit for myself. My experience seemed pleasant at first. Had conversation here and there. I was pleased with how everything came out. My stylist was nice. Up until I was checking out to pay, they had technical difficulties (which is fine, not upset about that) it took a couple extra minutes. I waited and that wasn't a big deal. But as I'm waiting, I can hear my stylist complaining about me... I don't think it matters to say her name because I think she's just young and lacks bedside manner. She blatantly complained to her coworkers saying that I, "Stressed her out." I didn't bother to try to hear the rest. I was looking directly at her as she was going on about me. Look I get it, I was indecisive about what I wanted. I had a photo to reference but forgot about it. But after a whole 2 minutes I said I wanted layers and to go by what I already had. Not sure how that makes me difficult or how I stressed her out? lol If anything I would make conversation to make it less awkward for her. But that doesn't excuse the fact that I can clearly hear you talk about me lol I'm in customer service as well sweetie... be like everyone else and make sure your client can't hear you bad mouthing them. I ordered a cologne for pickup and opted for the bigger bottle to qualify for the 17 piece sampler "free gift". When I got to the store for pickup, the gift was not in the bag. I explained to the clerk (that claimed to be the manager) that the item was missing. She told me I must not have selected it. So in front of her, I showed her the process to place the order and of course it auto selected to add the gift for the qualifying purchase. She showed me the sampler set but refused to give it to me without returning my item to repurchase it. I explained that wouldn't work for me because the return of funds to my bank wouldn't be instant and I'd be stuck waiting with the double purchase. She didn't care and still refused to give it to me. I usually go here because there aren't many other makeup stores in this area. This one is decent, and parking is fine. When you go inside, they have every brand it's well organised. But some of the testers are messy, and some stuff is already opened. Usually they have good stock but are out sometimes. The staff is nice and checks up on you often.
