Genevieve was amazing! She was very patient and accommodating. The place was also very clean and they used really high-end skin products. I had the most relaxing, personalized facial today at Ulta in Santa Barbara. Claire was so kind, detailed and careful in her prep when I told her my previous reactions to any use of Willow Bark. Staff is not helpful. They are very dry not warm and they always treat you as if you are stealing or bothering them. I went to get my prom makeup done here and I ended up having to take everything off so I could redo my own makeup. $87 down the drain. My friend had also gone the same day as me and she also asked for another person to do her makeup because she didn't like the way one artist was doing it. I recently got a haircut and blow out by Tiffany Y. I asked to keep my length and just add layers. She continued to cut my hair and in the end I had no layers and my length was cut by more than 6 inches! Then she asked me to blow dry my own hair first and then later she would continue... I LOVE this Ulta beauty. The employees are absolute sweethearts. I was looking for skincare products and the lady that helped me look for what I needed, immediately knew what was great for me. She proceeded to help my mom with haircare and continued to guide my mom with products good for her. I decided to get my brows done at the Benefit Brow Bar. The best decision I have EVER made!! Jessica is extremely professional, careful, kind, and truly amazing at what she does. She took her time with my wax, told me exactly what she was going to do, and her tools were sterile. Horrible customer service. All employees except for like two (The girl in the cashier and a really pretty short one) we're standing in a circle having a conversation amongst themselves while the store was flooded with costumers. One girl helped me for like 5 mins couldn't even color match properly. She disappeared without saying anything and left me sitting on a chair for like 10 mins when I look to the side she was leaving for the day. I never write reviews, but something MUST be done! As you all know Ulta has a fragrance section. As I was browsing through testing a variety of perfumes with intent to buy not just window shop, I had three in my basket that I liked. From the second I walked in the security was staring at me following me around as were the other girls a few moments later! As I was looking 10 minutes later a woman named Sabrina (later finding out she was the manager on shift)stood beside me and said "Hi how are you" and I'm like "good thank you" as I didn't need help smelling perfumes and went back to browsing. She stood there for a moment then went and spoke to a couple of other employees, then came back moments later "MANAGER" Sabrina(horrible at her profession may I add) came up to me and GRABBED my basket out of my hand saying she'd leave it at the register for me... I wasn't done shopping, or browsing for what I wanted. She profiled me! As I waited on a tremendously long line for 15 minutes, I then got to the counter and asked for my basket. The cashier seemed sympathetic to my situation after I had explained and apologized on behalf of SABRINA "THE MANAGER" I felt very uncomfortable from the moment I walked in. I am a light skinned Hispanic woman and couldn't feel anymore disgusted with a make up business that is supposed to be FOR EVERYBODY. May I add, I didn't even have a purse with me... just my body, wallet in hand and jacket I hope justice can be taken into hand because NOBODY deserves to be profiled before CAUSE! Nobody deserves to go spend their hard working money in a company to be FOLLOWED around and stalked by security and employees as you first walk in. It's a disgrace to Glendale's community! I have curly hair and went for a trim and straight blow up with stylist Tiffany. She was great. Very nice and knowledgable on products and tips when I asked her questions. Today I had an appointment for a facial with Genevieve. At first I was a bit skeptical about getting any skin care treatment at a store, but was pleasantly surprised. After checking in I filled out a questionnaire about my skin regimen and then met with Genevieve to discuss my concerns. She was very nice and knowledgable. We discussed my problem areas and she suggested a product. I didn't feel pressured to buy anything, which was a relief. Even though it was at the store, the area felt private enough and it was very clean. She took her time and I didn't t feel rushed. Genevieve is definitely a master at what she does and I didn't feel any discomfort. The products felt good and gentle on my skin. The process took about fifty minutes and my skin felt clean and hydrated. I will definitely go back and highly recommend her. Once you get used to blocking the noise from the customers in the store, you will relax and enjoy the treatment. You will not be disappointed. Came in here with my wife. The first thing I noticed was a wolf pack of employees gathering outside of the store at 1pm for their smoke break. It was disgusting. After walking through the cloud of smoke and upon entering the store, we realize the AC isn't even on. The air circulation in there was horrid. Combine humid, muggy with the smell of perfume and makeup products. After their smoke break, they came back inside the store and a majority of them completely disappeared. We bought 3 items w/ coupons and still somehow comes out to almost $60 bucks! 2 hair care products and 1 makeup product. What surprised me even more was that items we bought were considered to be on sale already. Even with the sale, plus the coupon, the total still amounted over $50 bucks. Such a rip off. read more

A couple days ago when I was back in CA I got my hair done and told my stylist at Ulta who I've been working with for a couple years what happened at this location - she was absolutely shocked. She said if that had happened in the Pasadena store that they would have given be a total refund. ALSO, she was able to dye my hair to a more natural color with no issues and I came out looking exactly how I wanted. Poor management team. There's one with red hair who is nasty all the time. I've seen her verbally mistreat employees and chooses favorites. I'm just a customer - and if I notice that, it tells you A LOT. I simply made a purchase, and she was silent the entire time - no hi, no bye, threw my items in the bag for no reason.. I had a wedding to attend and scheduled my 45 minute makeup application appointment here due to the good reviews I've received about Ulta salon overall. However, this branch was nothing close to what I expected it to be. My appointment was at 4:00 p.m., so I should have been done at 4:45 p.m. I arrived at 4:01, which I take full responsibility for not remembering the parking situation at Atlas park. I told an associate I was there for a makeup application appointment. She looked around the store and responded with "O.K." and continued with what she was doing. Another associate happened to pass by and the first associate asked her, "Do you know anything about a makeup appointment?" as if she had no idea they did that there. The second associate took me to the back where the salon section was. She looked around to find an artist but no one was around, except for one who was doing someone's hair. At this point time is ticking away. She went to the back and came back after a few minutes saying that my artist will be out in 5 minutes. Now I've had other beauty appointments before, where the artist was waiting and ready at the time that the appointment was. The fact that the artist was nowhere to be found and then still needed extra time was very unprofessional to me. Genevieve came out at 4:15 and then had to set up her area. She asked me what I was looking for and I told her. She laid me in a reclined seat, which I never experienced for makeup before, but there's a first time for everything. She then suggested an additional service to exfoliate my skin. I told her there was no time for that and that I didn't need it. So she started. I didn't see her get any foundations or powders to test my skin color or anything, but trusted that as a professional this would have come at some later time. She was breathing so heavily in my face as she was over me applying the makeup, and it seemed that she was eating right before... a fact I arrived at with the smell of her breath and the crumbs still lingering on her face. Very professional indeed. She started doing my eyes and after finishing one eye that was when she decided to show me a mirror and ask me if I liked it... I mean at this point if I didn't would you remove everything and start all over? Thereby extending my time? It was so poorly done and I told her what I wanted fixed. She went on to correct it and do my other eye. When she finished and stepped away I quickly grabbed a palette to see a mirror, it was nothing close to professional. The colors were caked on my lids and starting to crack - no proper blending. The eyeliner was so poorly done. I tried to fix it myself. When she moved on to my foundation she dived right in and started with whatever shades she brought, without checking it against my skin - I still trusted she would have done a fair job at this, and I also had no mirror to check as I was laying. She was almost done when I think she realized that the color was not very close at all and she tried blending it out. At this point it was 5:10 - remember that I should have been done at 4:45. She applied a bright pink blush (I have tan skin color). She finished up and went to get lip colors. Again I tried to fix what she had done when I grabbed the mirror again. When she came back she brought 2 choices, which she had tried on her hands. I picked one and she took out a balm and put some on her fingers and applied it right to my lips... Very unsanitary as she was touching testers and other handles before! I jumped back when I realized what she had done. She applied the lip color outside my lip lines. But didn't fix it - I had to when I looked in the mirror. It's now 5:20, I am now running very late. I waited in line to pay for the service and ran out the store. When I looked in the car mirror I screamed. The lighting in her area didn't make my face look so bad, but when I was outside, my face was orange/brown! I was so livid because I was now so late and had to try to fix this mess. I would steer clear of Genevieve. I made small talk and asked her how long she's been doing makeup - she had said 10 years. I don't see how that could possibly be true. With her lack of professional behavior and terrible skills. read more

This wonderful woman, not only gives you the full body exquisite experience for ultimate hair finesse, but she has excellent customer service skills and a warm inviting demeanor that goes beyond her level and training of hair expertise. She is the person that makes me travel to Ulta beauty salon in Glendale queens. I was referred by a friend and I will keep going from now on. This will be my second time for a touch up. Stacey takes care to ask what the client wants, and just not just hurry and do a half a-- job. She utilizes her talent to figure out what works best for each individual client, and meticulously works with what my interests are and what I would like to do. She is quick AND efficient which is most difficult to do for most stylists to conquer. What a great blessing and asset StaceyAnne is to this company. Cindy Martinez is awesome! She has been my hairstylist for almost 20 years. And, I am a difficult case, as I am in an oversized wheelchair. But, Cindy has always been patient in positioning me correctly to wash my hair, and to make sure my chair doesn't get wet. She takes her time with me, even through having to remove my head rest in order to cut my hair properly. She always make sure I'm comfortable throughout. And, Cindy has cut, died and highlighted my hair in many, great styles over the years. She always works with her clients to find the most appropriate cut and/or color for them. Recently, she cut 12 inches of my hair to give me a classic, yet modern, angled bob. And, I love it! I also love the fact that she worked very carefully to salvage every bit of hair that I could possibly donate to Locks of Love! And, the prices at the Ulta salon are very reasonable. read more

This review is strictly for the salon. I went to Christy on a whim after the girl I used in the westbury location left. Not only did she show up to work over half an hour Late but the cut looks NOTHING like the picture I showed her. Which she told me she could accomplish and had me leave open the entire time. The picture was of a short wispy piecey cut that was feminine. I specifically asked her to balance short with feminine. I look like a boy. An angry boy who has to wait months for my hair to grown in enough to salvage it. She basically gave me an undercut/Mohawk. She told me she's been there 2 years? Why would anyone go back to her and why would they continue to employ someone with such clear lack of talent or ability to follow instructions. I would get it if she told me she couldn't do what I asked of her but the fact that she even thinks these two cuts look similar is shameful. I suggest she starts looking for another job. read more

Wasn't bad. A bit expensive, but otherwise, great service. My only complaint is I bought a face mask ($30) and opened in the car half way there. It was opened, dirty, and used. I went back, got a full new bottle of my face mask. They were kind about it, but I was mad. I didn't complain, but showed my frustration. They were very subtle about it. I would go back, but also, be cautious about the Prices, and the products. I'm half and half with the company. Was very nice, considering the staff and how the structure is built. I had gone to a salon in Brooklyn and asked for a cut and color. The lady agreed and had me go to the back and get shampoo. Afterwards she begins cutting my hair and tells me I cannot get my hair colored today cause I had it washed. She blamed me and said I should have said something. So I finish my cut and of course all my grays are very noticeable. I call Ulta in Glendale and they agreed to work me in today. They seemed very busy but I was so happy that they accommodated me. Tiffany did my color and I explained to her what had happened and that the other Salon said that now that my hair was washed my scalp would burn, I could tell from Tiffany's expression that this isn't necessarily the case. Anyway, Tiffany did an excellent job with my color and blow out and I can't wait to return to her in 6 weeks to have her trim me up and put highlights in my hair!
