I have had a good experience every time I've visited this store. During the PHX summers, I wear my hair in its natural curly state, so I come here for my natural hair care needs. I love how all of the associates with whom I've dealt, no matter their race, have always been very helpful and knowledgeable with curly hair products. I have received some good advice and recommendations. This store has a nice, large selection of products for curly hair. They have one of the largest selections of Carol's Daughters and DevaCurl products too. Unfortunately, you cannot use the $3.50 off mailer coupon on these types of brands, which are considered "prestige" brands. Nonetheless, nice store with nice employees. 2024 is the year I decided was going to be for me. Getting my CURLY hair styled by someone experienced was a top goal. I chose Ulta at Tempe Marketplace after reviewing numerous places and reading customer reviews, willing to pay $82 for the Signature Curly Cut, looking forward to getting rid of my one length mess. I arrived for my 5:45pm appt and waited about 5 mins. After showing her my pic of the style I was trying to achieve (mine from about 15 yrs ago), she washed my hair and started cutting the agreed upon layers. Unfortunately this is when things went wrong. While cutting, I was asked if I wanted my hair dried straight. It caught me off guard because I was there for the Curly Cut and in my confusion, I said yes. Then, I had to ask for the bangs like in the pic, so cutting resumed. This is when it dawned on me I wasn't getting the Signature Curly Cut treatment, I was wasting money on a service I could have gotten elsewhere, for $20. Per my receipt , I was in and out at 38 mins and that includes checking out. Total disappointment. While my stylist was nice and I tipped her generously, I will never have my hair done at an Ulta again. read more

I've always gotten very good hair cuts at the Ulta salon and most recently I got some ombre coloring done, which I loved. the only thing is I've had hit and miss experiences with the service. for example, one time I showed up on Sunday morning and sat and waited for 30 min and eventually I was informed that my hair stylist just did not show up for work that day and they could not contact him. not cool. another time, I had the last appointment of the day and my hair stylist was running late from finishing up with another client so I felt like she rushed through my haircut (she didn't even wet my hair -- to save time) and it didn't turn out quite as good as a traditional wet hair cut would have been. plus, I was still charged for the haircut + blowout, when obviously I didn't get the blowout because my hair was never even wet. I guess the best bet is to find a dependable stylist you like there, and only schedule appts with them. and try to keep the appts for earlier in the day because you don't want to be the last appt when they are rushing to close up the salon! read more

My review is for Candace! Like most, when coming into an Ulta we ALL know we're going to leave with more then what we had initially came in for. Candace had approached me and asked what I was looking for I told her a good face wash. We got to chatting and I did disclose I hated my new bronzer because it made my face "oily". She was super knowledgeable on telling me why it was oily and asked what products I was using. She showed me a few of her favorites to help with hydration and one was a little pricey but I was already using the brand so I tried it. I don't shop in any Ulta store enough to compare this visit to any other. When I do visit Ulta, it's usually the Camelback and 20t st location. I stopped in on a Friday afternoon and it was a pretty nice crowd in there. When I walked in, no one said anything, no welcome, or anything. There was one person at the register and a small line (about 5 people waiting). I took my time looking around, again no one said anything and there were plenty of workers on the floor. I was looking around for about 30 minutes or so before someone said, "Do you need help with anything". By the time I got in line, there were 3 people in front of me and 4 people behind me. A few of us in line wondered why someone wouldn't come to the front to assist with the line. They never did. Maybe they were short staffed. At the register I went to go use a current coupon that is valid through Christmas Eve and the gal at the register refused to use my coupon stating that it wasn't valid. Even though on the back of the coupon it does state now through 1224. From start to finish, my experience here was fantastic! I went in for heavy highlights, tone, and cut and my stylist Vlora SLAYED my hair. I've been to very expensive, fancy salons that charge 300+ to go blonder and have come out with my hair looking damaged and mediocre. Vlora took her time to make sure my hair was exactly what I wanted and perfect. Not to mention she was just a really cool girl and we had so much good conversation. I'm honestly not a huge fan of this location, the employees are extremely rude and don't say "excuse me" when trying to walk past. The signage for some of the products is extreme unclear, I love makeup and the creative behind it but I really would rather go anywhere else but here and only come on an absolute need to basis. read more

Unfriendly, unorganized, very unprofessional location. I Parked in the curbside pickup parking for an order I placed online like 3 days ago. Before My son and I even step foot into the store the manager came to the door and confronted me. She said do you have an online order? I said yeah I placed an order online. She said that parking is for curbside pick up ONLY. My 11 year old looked at her like really?? She said in the future please do not park there as it is reserved for curbside pick up. I'm like okay got it. It would of been a lot nicer if she would have greeted me like a manager should! An THEN told me that!! Anyway, I go to the sad little window they have in the corner for online orders and no one helped me, mind you the manager saw me and my son waiting there!! (great management skills right?!) We waited for about 4/5 mins before someone came over to help us. When she finally did I asked her if she would like to see my email for my orders confirmation, she said no can I see your I.D.?, I showed her my ID. She then ruffled through all the bags that they have wrapped up like fast food burgers. An then she says can I see the email.... I'm like wow are you kidding?? Lol. I showed her the email she literally couldn't find my order, had to ask another coworker to help her. At this point I go back to my email and I said the email said I had until the end of the day to come and pick it up. It was 12:30 in the afternoon. Come to find out it was already placed in the "go-backs" basket. While the girl ripped open my bag to make sure my online order was inside, I asked about the items that were on the 21 days of beauty sale. She said everything is displayed in the front. I went looked I found the bare minerals powder but didn't find the beauty blenders and nude stix's so I went back to the girl that was helping me with my online order and asked are there no more of the blenders and nude stix's?? She told me they were sold out of the beauty blenders but asked which shade was I interested in for the stix's, I told her looked at her little tablet phone thing and went to the back to go get it. I got in line and I got to the register before she came back, the girl ask for my number and said is this a return? I'm like no, I'm buying this and one other item the girl retuned with the item and when she did they both questioned weather or not the sale item was for "Diamond" or "Platinum" members only. ( and I have a Ulta credit card) I already knew the answer because I checked the app before I bought it but they both walkie talkied their rude ass boss. So finally she's checking me out and I tried to use my $3.50 off coupon she said I wasn't able to use it on name brand items so I said okay that's fine. My receipt was emailed to me and I just got home, I'm on my desktop to look at my receipt and it literally says I have 500 redeemable points. Am I not allowed to use those on name brand items too or what?? Overall this I give this location 1 star because of the manager, she should definitely not be a manager here, she was so unprofessional and so was the girl at the little window helping me and so was the girl who checked me out.(came back to write I could of totally used my reward points) My old Ulta location would never!!! Look, I am not a make up expert. I wear it only on the weekends with the simple basics of foundation, cover up, eyebrow gel, and mascara. So, when I come in I need a step by step explanation on what would work best for me. Ulta just did not get me. The make up artist helping me was very annoyed if I didn't understand a product or thought it looked too done up. I eventually just asked for the brand I heard good things about and asked for her to lead me to it which she seemed annoyed to do. I asked her to help me pick the right shade and said that it wasn't that simple and picked out 3 close to my skin tone and asked if I wanted a pinker shade or more yellow...I had no idea! I just said pink so I could leave. I didn't get her name but she had bright pink hair. I tried Ulta because I heard it was cheaper than Sephora, but I don't think I will be leaving Sephora again. I saw no price difference. The lighting is just too bright for me surrounded by the all white interior. Sephora also has a skin color matching machine that I assumed all beauty stores have and I was disappointed that they didn't. read more

Ugh, this location makes me sad. A ton of greeters at the door talking amongst themselves. Hardly any employees further back in the store when you actually have a question and could use the help but the worst part is the fact that they have six cash registers but only two open. It's December on the weekend. The line was unnecessarily long possibly just a clever ploy to get you to buy the stocking stuffers at the checkout. I get there and they tell me that curling is actually $75 plus a $40 blowout. Woah. Did the blowout, hated it, came back to speak to the managers about it, and they were both incredibly rude (the store manager and salon manager). They said since I came in with wet hair, they had to offer that price range. If I had come in with dry hair they would have charged that $30. The problem? No where in the process of me booking this appointment was I told that. The salon manager basically said that it was not her problem and offered no resolutions. Why am I meant to pay the price of their miscommunication? Great makeup staff, however sh*tty managers in dealing with an upset customer who came to speak to them in a calm manner. Had a return last week. Aside from that I have purchased from this store a few times. Last week I went in hoping to return a blush I purchased. It was missing the small brush it came with after purchasing it. That's why I was returning it. It was obviously used prior. She then refused to issue me a refund stating that it didn't have the brush I let her know it didn't come with one. Hello! That's why I'm returning it. She then accused me of keeping the brush. Her exact words were "well you can't just keep it". I have shopped at Ulta for quite a while and have NEVER been so humiliated for making a return when the item was missing the brush it came with. Tasha! Tasha! Tasha! She was the absolute best!! I was in the store with my fiancé and we decided to take a look at the fragrances. We thought we knew exactly what we wanted. We thought : he would get the coach for men, and I would get a Miss Dior. Tasha spotted us and was immediately so warm and personable. She wasn't pushy at all and we saw how passionate she was about her knowledge on fragrances. She knows exactly what she was talking about when matching us to what could be our new signature fragrance. She taught us about placement and performance all while we were able to open up and joke around. I really feel like we made a new friend, that's how awesome she was. She was the absolute sweetest. In the end we realized the perfect fragrances we enjoyed was the Marc Jacobs perfect for me, and Gucci black for him. And oh my goodness are they amazing. If I could give zero stars I would. At the MAC counter I asked for help to find my color. The color I needed was not in stock and I asked them to see if they had more, the woman did not even pretend to check and just said to use another "similar" color. It's 3 shades different, but alas I am not a beauty/makeup expert. The checkout experience was terrible. Upon giving my phone number for rewards, I was told my account had been "deleted" so ALL of my rewards points were gone. I had a $3 off coupon and when using it, it did not ring up. I asked the cashier about it and she advised it had already come off. I told her it hadn't but she rushed me along anyway. I walked in here one quiet afternoon and walked out 15 minutes later without any goods. My fiancé probably thinks I went to heroic measures to resist from buying anything, but in reality it was just because the service was bad and it was a little overwhelming. I'm the kind of person who adores good service and am willing to pay a bit more if the store's employees provide a great experience. I was searching for some facial oils and had never been to Ulta before. I looked around and found a few versions of what I thought I was looking for. I didn't know what I was doing though, so I wandered around hoping to catch somebody's attention. This was my "M'aidez!" call. It didn't work, and I left. I've had some pretty good, to downright awkward experiences here. The staff doesn't work on commission so I'm always up for suggestions. Before today, the last time in, I was suggested a skin care starter kit from juice beauty along with the additional bb cream and eye repair; organic and apparently awesome. I didn't come in for any of those options but left spending about $200. The girl was really sweet but she kind of made me feel bad about myself with her comments about how "your skin is dry", "this will help you even out, you need it", etc. I had high hopes but the products broke me out bad. Today I came back to return my items and forgot my receipt at home. Since I used my ulta rewards # at last purchase, they were able to find my last purchases on the computer and gave me the full refund. The manager had to approve the refund and without being rude or accusatory, asked why I was returning the items. She said she had a similar experience because she was allergic to an ingredient and asked if I'd be up for a suggestion. She also said that juice beauty is a pretty harsh line and many people with fair skin return it. She led me to another start up kit but this one is way more affordable! Hope it works out! read more

I had my brows waxed at Benefit brow bar, I had Kelly. It was my first & last time. My brows are so tiny they are almost non existence. I'm surprised she left any at all. I was talking to a friend later she said she is suppose to show you what she is going to do & how much she is going to take off. No she didn't do any of that. So unprofessional. When I took off my eyebrow makeup & saw how tiny they really were I almost started crying. I wish I could put something over my brows to hide them for the next month. When I walked in I was greeted nicely (not that fast, obnoxious HEYWELCOMETOULTA greeting you sometimes get). Two different workers asked if I needed help. When I went to pay the cashier was so lovely. She did the usual "did you find everything ok?" But as she was ringing me up she asked "how is your day going?" It caught me off guard because I know cashiers are just trying to get through their day and want to get things done quickly so it was nice to be asked. We had a short conversation then I left.
