Looking for good sushi in Brentwood. What a challenge. So on a lazy Friday afternoon we went on a search. Luckily we found a place in the back of a small apartment shopping center that Provided some relief. Although it's a bit deceiving as it is a Korean Place. The place was empty but the hostess/bartender greeted us in her masked facade. The decor and ambiance was nice, and in the background Korean Pop music was playing. I really liked that they had several draught beers available. I went for the Sapporo and it didn't disappoint. So we ordered a few roles (see pics) they were fresh and tasty. When you order Two roles you get a salad and soup. This was the only real negative the soup was cold. I Had to send it back. I will be back hopefully I will then try the Korean chicken. read more

A quiet, unassuming restaurant located in the mixed use neighborhood of Lenox Village off Nolensville Pke. The waitress called out, so the fantastic owner waited on us. She was very welcoming and knew that 3 of us had never had Korean food before and we were going to try a lot. He'd never had anything like it before and was wild about it. The owner recommended a stout beer for him since they don't serve Guinness. My husband, who hates to try new things, got the teriyaki chicken, but I shared my KFC with him and he loved it. I also shared my kimchi fried rice and he liked it, but like me, hasn't developed a taste for kimchi. A friend joined us who helped recommend items and shared what she ordered. Apologies, for the atrocious review I left - voice to text did not servw me well and while I usually go back over, I got such an impression I voice to text it while I was driving. I got this response from the manager. " you know we were busy, I was helping with to go, answering phone, making drinks , because my attention was not on you at all time and you feel the need to attack me personally online, that's just sad. I hope you have a wonderful 4th, please don't come back to my restaurant no more, we are all friends here At umami, and you are not welcome." I have never had that response from a manager, ever. Usually people can take constructive criticism. I have had a lot of really great sushi and this was not it. The rolls consistently fell apart. There was no mention of spicy mayonnaise in my roll and it was so spicy even with the jalapenos off I could not eat it. I asked questions about things because I wanted to make sure I was ordering the right thing and I was met with disdain. She felt I was attacking her personally, which I was not, but that is how I felt I was treated, and that is what Yelp reviews are for. I've worked in the restaurant business and I understand what it's like to be busy. I'm sure they have good days and I'm sure sometimes their rolls are good. Everything I had was only so-so.
