Service: AWFUL. Friends and I have been here about 6 times (only because we like the trivia host that's there on Tuesdays) and each time the service has been terrible - not so much on the end of the servers but the fact that the kitchen is eternally slow and obviously disorganized. If you have people ordering from both the sushi and hot menus you can expect that the sushi will come at least 15 mins later than the other food. Each visit has been progressively worse, with this being the final straw, hence this review. On our most recent visit, one dish came out 15-20 mins after the others at the table. When I asked to speak w a manager they made excuses saying that everyone in the kitchen makes something different so things come out at different times. Unacceptable. People go out to dine together, not to take turns watching each other eat. Ambience: Neutral. It's a normal restaurant, not much to say. It appears clean and the dishes and silverware are well maintained. Food: OK. I've had better, I've had worse. It's a bit pricey for what it is, considering almost everything on their menu can be ordered elsewhere for cheaper and in larger quantities with the same or better quality and taste. $10 for THREE rangoon. Cray. All in all I think if this place wasn't convenient for the people living in Lennox Village they probably would have fewer customers as between the habitually poor service and the just ok food they're certainly nothing to write home about. read more

Stumbled upon this place while in the neighborhood, and it was amazing! Michelle, the owner, even spent so much time with us going over the menu and what she recommends. She's a lovely person with a fun personality, which probably got us to spend more and eat more than we originally needed to, but it was all worth it. The gyoza was some of the best I've ever had, then we followed it up with several sushi rolls, and I'm pretty sure it was some of the best I ever had. Highly recommend the Nemo roll and The Umami roll. For dessert they have different flavored moshi, the Japanese I've cream wrapped in a rice casing. I've never been a big fan of this because the outside usually has a texture I'm not fond of, but THIS moshi, was so good. The texture was perfect, the flavors amazing, I will be back for the mango for sure!! I can't wait to come back and try their Korean fried chicken. Went in for dinner with the husband on a Friday night and I'll say the service here needs some serious improvement. We sat down at the table and no one addressed or acknowledged us for a good 10 min. I almost walked out at that point. However after flagging a waitress down we finally got our drink and food order in. We order the galbi, the Korean fried chicken (KFC), and a sushi roll. The KFC was the best thing we ordered. We did half and half of the spicy and soy garlic. The skin was crispy and was very good. However it goes down hill from there. The galbi was just ok. The flavor was almost there but not quite, and the quality of the meat was not good. The meat was thick, chewy, and extremely fatty so it was hard eat. As for the sushi, again it seemed like a service/chef issue, but the sushi didn't come out until 20 min after our other main dishes came out. We again, had to flag down the waitress asking about it. Very confusing and very inconvenient since it came out so late compared to our other main dishes. On top of that the sushi was not good. The sushi rice was hard and tasted old. Well maybe order to go the KFC only but won't be back until service and quality improves. read more

This place is so great! It's not the bad sushi place that used to be here, this is a new place, and you need to come! Full bar, great beer and drink specials, amazing menu with all sorts of Asian variety including Thai, Korean, Japanese, etc. There is no sushi bar to sit at, but a regular bar, lots of tables and TVs for entertainment. I had the Galbi and it was huge and very good. My husband ordered a sushi roll as well as the fried rice and both were also good. The entire place buzzes with a great vibe, conversations bounce around the walls of the main room including the bar. Patio seating is available. Been here for dine in and take out all have been disappointing. Tonight's takes the cake for the worst service I've ever had anywhere! I went here for trivia for a birthday party. Trivia was fun and great. The service was an absolute nightmare. I arrived before trivia started. Did not get any drinks for over an hour, the whole table didn't get drinks. No water nothing. While other tables were seated and given water and drink shortly after. By the time we got our drinks the food took another hour to come. Our food arrived after trivia was over. During this time multiple tables came in and got served drinks and food, at least 3 tables I could see. Now for the food. The rolls repeatedly fall apart and or our soggy. First time in Umami and my expectation is a bit high because of the reviews. However, I don't know why this restaurant has a 4 star ratings. Me and my wife ordered ramen (pork and udon noodles) and I must say that this is one of the worst ramen that I've taste in my life. The soup tasted like Korean noodles sold in the grocery and the meat is tough. The calamari tasted that it's from a frozen pack as well. We came in right after they opened for the day. They were still mopping the floors which rendered them like a slip-n-slide. I had some shoes with decent traction but I was still sliding around - not safe for any customer and inexcusable since their opening time is not a surprise to them. It looked like there was only one server for the restaurant, that being the wife of the owning couple. She amazingly had control of many tables. But when the restaurant got half full, it was obvious she needed extra assistance. She often greeted customers by yelling from across the restaurant when she saw them. I often heard customers wondering what she said. I ordered the Pad Thai. She asked if I wanted it mild, medium or spicy. I told her mild since I didn't want to mask the flavors with heat. For the record, mild is more like medium. There was a strong heat presence. So, if you are sensitive to spice and like things mild, I would recommend asking for no spice. Then, perhaps you would actually get mild! The plating looked odd because there was a mound of noodles topped with chopped green onion on one side of the plate. Then, there was a slightly dried out lime wedge, a pile of thinly spiraled carrot and a pile of chopped peanuts on the other side. It looked like I had asked for Pad Thai with the peanuts on the side! The odd plating aside, the noodles were horribly mushy that they were broken into child-safe lengths. I felt like I needed a spoon to eat it. One of the first things we ordered was the Korean fried chicken in soy and garlic. We were told it takes 20-25 minutes. It came out after our main dishes even though we ordered our mains after the chicken; so I would recommend ordering it before sitting down if you can. The dish looked delicious and ate that way too. That was this meal's saving grace. The chicken was crispy but thoroughly coated with glaze. Wing size was pretty decent and the restaurant comes with a handwashing station so you can eat with abandon, lick your fingers and go wash your hands before eating anything else. As with driving a new car out of the dealership lot, the Korean fried chicken immediately depreciates in value (crispy value, that is) when taken to-go. So, I would recommend dining in for your first KFC experience. The Korean fried chicken is the only reason to come to this place. Just be sure to wear some slip resistant shoes! read more
