Only in LA, would you find this type of Asian fusion restaurants - from the decor they look like a Chinese restaurant, from the menu they look like a Japanese restaurant, but some of their dishes have Korean staples in them! That maybe that's what we like these days - and they shouldn't place that satisfies our cravings for sushi, kimchi, rice, and a great taste of different Asian sauces. Service is top notch! They paid great attention to guests , and they asked for feedback. They have a huge selection of rolls. I found the a piece rolls to be good deals. The Bento boxes are great if you're hungry; they give you a lot of food. We were a little disappointed at their Chirashi bowl. It wasn't bad, but it was plain, and the selection of fish isn't the best. The Uni pasta was very tasty. Overall, a pleasant dining experience.

This spot keeps getting new restaurants. It's in my neighborhood so we had to try it out. Parking is super convenient with validation and a lot. The inside decor is really peaceful and nice. They have big tables good for groups. They have a pretty big menu. Fried appetizers, sushi, rolls, bento combo boxes, rice dishes and ramen. My friend and I arrived on a Friday evening around 6pm and there were plenty of available tables. We were sat right away and given water, but the server did not come by until I flagged them down. The server was very friendly and helpful. It looked like she was the only server on the floor? Not completely sure but once we placed our order, nobody really came by to check on us. I even had to flag down someone for the check. I mean, we didn't really need anything so it was OK. The food was pretty good. We ordered several dishes to try and share. It was plenty of food. The sushi was generously cut and tasted fresh. We ordered the following: - Ikageso- presentation wasn't great but the flavor was there. Was nicely fried. - Sashimi salad- salmon, albacore and maybe yellowtail...? Tasted fresh and clean. - Salmon sashimi- 5 pieces of pretty good sizes of fish - I forgot the name of the roll we ordered but it was not my favorite. There was way too many beets inside? It didn't really taste like anything. The price is about average (on the higher side). I think I would come back here to try some of the other dishes. Maybe with more people so that we can get a variety of items.

Amazing food and service. This is high-end Sushi at affordable pricing. Unbelievable menu was so many options. I love all the carpaccio options. Rice-less options..., such as spicy tuna wrapped in tuna belly, which was amazing . Service is top-notch. They validate parking. In a great area of Wilshire Boulevard.

Stopped by this newly opened spot in the neighborhood and it completely exceeded expectations. Every dish felt thoughtful and well-executed. The sashimi combo especially stood out. The fish was incredibly fresh and high quality, and the presentation was beautiful. The wagyu was solid as well, cooked nicely and very enjoyable. The uni pasta was another highlight. Our four-year-old daughter absolutely loved it, which says a lot. We ended the meal with the tonkotsu ramen, and the broth had a deep, rich flavor that tied everything together perfectly. What truly elevated the experience, though, was the staff. Warm, attentive, and genuinely kind, they made us feel comfortable from start to finish.

Umito has been open for 6 weeks now and they know exactly what they're doing. The restaurant is right at the corner of La Brea and Wilshire in a great walkable area. I came in on a Friday night and we were sat immediately. The staff is very friendly, welcoming and attentive. The menu is extensive and offers sushi and ramen mainly. They have a bunch of different kind of rolls that I would love to come back and try (and I will!). They also have bento boxes which sold me. It comes with tempura, miso soup, salad, a classic roll, rice and your choice of protein. A fantastic deal for ~$25 or less. Sushi was amazing, I got the spicy teriyaki chicken as my protein and it was great. A good kick of spice too. I want to give a shoutout to Chris, an awesome employee with great hospitality. Come show Umito some love and eat some great food!

We're already really well served for Japanese food in the local area with some well-established spots but Umito is a very welcome addition and deserves to thrive. It has all the staples and a few really innovative surprises and specialities on their menu that is comprehensive but not too big. The food is really great (top quality ingredients), there's a great selection of dishes, and the portions are a good size - also, the prices are reasonable and in line with the area. They had only been open for a few days when we swung by but the staff were already really on top of things - friendly, attentive and informed. It ran smoother than places that have been open much longer! The decor is great. They have clearly not skimped on the details that count and once there are a few tables of people in there, there's a great vibe. You feel welcome from the moment you step through the door until the moment you leave. There's also a great drinks selection too to accompany the food. A great sign is that when we were in there we saw a local restauranteur picking up their To Go order - and we know from their places that they have high standards. To see them support a fellow business is real positive. We live locally so we walked there but there is ample parking nearby. The Umito team clearly know what they are doing and they're doing it really well. It's a BIG step up from the ramen place that used to be in the same spot. We'll be back and can't wait to try some new things - and I already have a list of things I want to devour. I highly recommend you check them out.

Umito is a brand-new Japanese restaurant currently in soft opening. They're open daily from 11:30 AM to midnight, which makes it a great late-night option. The interior feels like stepping into Japan. At night, the warm, dim lighting gives it a romantic, upscale vibe, great for date nights or dinners with friends. We ordered the Umito Premium Sashimi, Wagyu, uni pasta, bento box, and ramen. The sashimi was really pretty, the Wagyu was tasty and juicy, and the uni pasta came in a big portion and was very satisfying. The Premium Sashimi and Wagyu are must-orders. They also have a good selection of sake and beer, and the space feels especially cozy in the evening. Parking is super convenient with an indoor garage and 1.5 hours of free parking. Overall, solid food and a great atmosphere -- especially for late-night Japanese food, and a must if you're an uni lover.

I ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box. The portion sizes were massive and it was plated beautifully. Everything tasted delicious and the customer service was good. The restaurant itself is also very cute and clean. Will definitely be coming back.

You, me, and a date to @umito_la ? This brand new upscale Japanese restaurant might be one of my favorites in Koreatown, with a diverse menu that includes sashimi sets, uni, wagyu, pasta, ramen, and bento boxes that are all beautifully presented and crafted from fresh, high quality ingredients. I was blown away by the generous portions and freshness of their sashimi, and I would highly recommend ordering their Umito Premium Sashimi set, which comes with 12 pieces of sashimi, a seafood miso soup, and rice, nori, and a selection of seasonings to make your own handroll. I also loved the Wagyu, which comes on a Japanese architecture-inspired hot plate, and is sizzled to perfection table-side. Their ramen was also a pleasant surprise, with flavorful, creamy broth and generous portions of perfectly cooked, thick chewy noodles. With beautiful, Japanese-inspired interiors, friendly service, incredible sashimi and Wagyu-based dishes, and free validated parking for 1.5 hours, this is definitely a spot worth checking out for quality Japanese food or to celebrate a special occasion! So happy Mid-Wilshire has a new sushi spot in the mix! Umito is such a welcome addition to the neighborhood. The space is cute with a fun, inviting ambiance that makes it great for anything from a casual dinner to a low-key night out. Service was great, and the staff super friendly. They offer both sushi and ramen, which is perfect when you're craving rolls but your friend wants a cozy bowl of noodles. Bonus points for validating parking for 1.5 hours, which is a small detail that makes a big difference in this area.

Signature Sea Urchin Pasta The presentation is so exquisite! The sea urchin and fish roe are scattered on the pasta, making people reluctant to put down their chopsticks ?? Salmon Sashimi It's breathtakingly beautiful and has small purple flowers on it, as if it were an artwork?? Signature Umito Premium Sashimi It's truly exquisite and looks great. It's also accompanied by colorful salts of various colors - ice blue, light yellow, fresh green and black. I've never seen such a variety before. It includes twelve different types of sashimi, which can be eaten with seaweed. The seafood soup is also rich and delicious - a mouthful of freshness! Waygu You can bake it yourself to control the desired degree of doneness. The beef flavor is extremely rich and the milk flavor is truly delicious Special Ramen This black and white ramen has a strong garlic flavor. If you have this bowl during the winter, you will feel very happy The environment is very Japanese-style, with a wide variety of sake and beer options. Whether it's for a gathering with friends or a date, it's perfect for any occasion.

The fried rice was also a standout and paired perfectly with the meal. Service was great from start to finish. The staff was attentive, friendly, and kept everything moving despite how busy it was. I remember going here during their grand opening ages ago, did their, back then, super cheap deal with unlimited noodle refill (even further discounted due to the special event day) and eating to the point of barely being able to sit up in the car without throwing up. I have a picture of my brother eating here in middle school with us and then later on in his early 20's. Crazy time lapse, and truly shows what a favorite this place is and it's place in the community. As with all businesses in Little Tokyo, parking can suck (not as bad as K-town, but you're either paying or super circling around). Service is super efficient, welcoming and polite, as with their other locations as well. It's not the biggest restaurant, but none of the Shinsengumis I've been to have been particularly large. With this location, from my first visit, and all the subsequent visits, I always get their Hakata ramen, firmer noodles, since the longer I eat and enjoy the food, they'll soften a bit, less soup oil and less saltiness. I get all of the toppings that it comes with and I always add in a poached egg. Love the strong pork flavor since they stew their broth for so long and the tenderness of the chashu (sometimes I order more). Prices have definitely gone up and a slightly altered upgraded version of this ramen is almost $30 if you're not careful enough. Times have changed but how good this place hasn't. There's more ramen options now than there were like 10 years ago, but Shinsengumi is always a classic.

The tonkotsu is not one of those rich, milky, creamy ones and I personally like these lighter ones more. I also enjoyed the shoyu which had a pleasant depth of flavor, but it felt like it was relying too heavily on MSG for umami. Noodles came out chewy. There was not anyone at the restaurant at the time, but people did start trickling in as more time elapsed. We got our food relatively quickly as well. FOOD: I ordered the spicy pork tsukemen ($23.45), which is their dipping noodle. The noodles are thicker than standard ramen, but in a good way! It comes with thick chashu (thick, fatty pork) slices and soft boiled eggs. If you haven't had tsukemen before, you essentially dip your noodles into the broth and then eat it that way. The broth is extremely flavorful and there are also pieces of chashu in it as well. The only critique that I have regarding this is the broth was lukewarm which made the dish taste slightly off. I've tried this dish at another branch and the broth was also lukewarm there, so I'm not sure if this is a location issue or a standard amongst all branches. Also, this dish does not really have any vegetables in this, but I also don't know if traditional tsukemen has veggies included. SERVICE: Service was quick and everyone was nice and doing their job. Didn't seem like the staff was slacking or messing around while there weren't many customers. They were very attentive to us, refilling our water immediately once they saw it was getting low, and being very attentive towards if we had any other concerns or if we needed anything else. PARKING: There technically is street parking but since it's in Little Tokyo, it's going to be very difficult to find it. There's $4-6 valet parking available nearby the location. There are a lot of people walking around though so just be safe. INTERIOR: It's not too big of a place but it's also not too small as well. It looks very well kept and clean. BATHROOM: Two gender neutral bathroom stalls that are both very clean and accessible. No issues here with them. TLDR: Overall, I thought the place was pretty good to eat at! I would definitely come back for the tsukemen (as long as the broth is warmed up until it's hot). A very good dish combined with great music (they have some great Japanese music variety) is definitely a spot worth coming to with friends !! :))
