This spot keeps getting new restaurants. It's in my neighborhood so we had to try it out. Parking is super convenient with validation and a lot. The inside decor is really peaceful and nice. They have big tables good for groups. They have a pretty big menu. Fried appetizers, sushi, rolls, bento combo boxes, rice dishes and ramen. My friend and I arrived on a Friday evening around 6pm and there were plenty of available tables. We were sat right away and given water, but the server did not come by until I flagged them down. The server was very friendly and helpful. It looked like she was the only server on the floor? Not completely sure but once we placed our order, nobody really came by to check on us. I even had to flag down someone for the check. I mean, we didn't really need anything so it was OK. The food was pretty good. We ordered several dishes to try and share. It was plenty of food. The sushi was generously cut and tasted fresh. We ordered the following: - Ikageso- presentation wasn't great but the flavor was there. Was nicely fried. - Sashimi salad- salmon, albacore and maybe yellowtail...? Tasted fresh and clean. - Salmon sashimi- 5 pieces of pretty good sizes of fish - I forgot the name of the roll we ordered but it was not my favorite. There was way too many beets inside? It didn't really taste like anything. The price is about average (on the higher side). I think I would come back here to try some of the other dishes. Maybe with more people so that we can get a variety of items.

Stopped by this newly opened spot in the neighborhood and it completely exceeded expectations. Every dish felt thoughtful and well-executed. The sashimi combo especially stood out. The fish was incredibly fresh and high quality, and the presentation was beautiful. The wagyu was solid as well, cooked nicely and very enjoyable. The uni pasta was another highlight. Our four-year-old daughter absolutely loved it, which says a lot. We ended the meal with the tonkotsu ramen, and the broth had a deep, rich flavor that tied everything together perfectly. What truly elevated the experience, though, was the staff. Warm, attentive, and genuinely kind, they made us feel comfortable from start to finish.

Umito has been open for 6 weeks now and they know exactly what they're doing. The restaurant is right at the corner of La Brea and Wilshire in a great walkable area. I came in on a Friday night and we were sat immediately. The staff is very friendly, welcoming and attentive. The menu is extensive and offers sushi and ramen mainly. They have a bunch of different kind of rolls that I would love to come back and try (and I will!). They also have bento boxes which sold me. It comes with tempura, miso soup, salad, a classic roll, rice and your choice of protein. A fantastic deal for ~$25 or less. Sushi was amazing, I got the spicy teriyaki chicken as my protein and it was great. A good kick of spice too. I want to give a shoutout to Chris, an awesome employee with great hospitality. Come show Umito some love and eat some great food!

Umito Ramen & Sushi exceeded my expectations! The wagyu was incredibly tender and practically melted in my mouth. The premium sashimi was exceptionally fresh, with every piece tasting high quality. One of the standout dishes was the uni pasta--the rich, bold uni flavor really came through and made it a must-try for uni lovers. Everything was beautifully prepared, and the quality of the ingredients was evident in every bite.

Incredible service (by Chris), matched with really good, fresh fish! We came on a Wednesday night and it was not as busy as it should be. We ordered a variety of belly's and mackerel, baked salmon and an uni, toro, caviar handroll. WOW!!! My bf got the bulgogi beef bento box and it was generously sized and really good. the place was cutely decorated and the staff were cleaning constantly. Validated parking right in the back makes it super easy. cant wait to go back and try the ramen. UPDATE - Tues was busier but still chill. Affordable bento boxes on weekday were perfect. we left with generous leftovers the portions are so big.

We're already really well served for Japanese food in the local area with some well-established spots but Umito is a very welcome addition and deserves to thrive. It has all the staples and a few really innovative surprises and specialities on their menu that is comprehensive but not too big. The food is really great (top quality ingredients), there's a great selection of dishes, and the portions are a good size - also, the prices are reasonable and in line with the area. They had only been open for a few days when we swung by but the staff were already really on top of things - friendly, attentive and informed. It ran smoother than places that have been open much longer! The decor is great. They have clearly not skimped on the details that count and once there are a few tables of people in there, there's a great vibe. You feel welcome from the moment you step through the door until the moment you leave. There's also a great drinks selection too to accompany the food. A great sign is that when we were in there we saw a local restauranteur picking up their To Go order - and we know from their places that they have high standards. To see them support a fellow business is real positive. We live locally so we walked there but there is ample parking nearby. The Umito team clearly know what they are doing and they're doing it really well. It's a BIG step up from the ramen place that used to be in the same spot. We'll be back and can't wait to try some new things - and I already have a list of things I want to devour. I highly recommend you check them out.

Umito is a brand-new Japanese restaurant currently in soft opening. They're open daily from 11:30 AM to midnight, which makes it a great late-night option. The interior feels like stepping into Japan. At night, the warm, dim lighting gives it a romantic, upscale vibe, great for date nights or dinners with friends. We ordered the Umito Premium Sashimi, Wagyu, uni pasta, bento box, and ramen. The sashimi was really pretty, the Wagyu was tasty and juicy, and the uni pasta came in a big portion and was very satisfying. The Premium Sashimi and Wagyu are must-orders. They also have a good selection of sake and beer, and the space feels especially cozy in the evening. Parking is super convenient with an indoor garage and 1.5 hours of free parking. Overall, solid food and a great atmosphere -- especially for late-night Japanese food, and a must if you're an uni lover.

Food was amazing as always. Sashimi cuts are so fresh. Chris provided excellent service and recommendations about each dish. Absolute goat

You, me, and a date to @umito_la ? This brand new upscale Japanese restaurant might be one of my favorites in Koreatown, with a diverse menu that includes sashimi sets, uni, wagyu, pasta, ramen, and bento boxes that are all beautifully presented and crafted from fresh, high quality ingredients. I was blown away by the generous portions and freshness of their sashimi, and I would highly recommend ordering their Umito Premium Sashimi set, which comes with 12 pieces of sashimi, a seafood miso soup, and rice, nori, and a selection of seasonings to make your own handroll. I also loved the Wagyu, which comes on a Japanese architecture-inspired hot plate, and is sizzled to perfection table-side. Their ramen was also a pleasant surprise, with flavorful, creamy broth and generous portions of perfectly cooked, thick chewy noodles. With beautiful, Japanese-inspired interiors, friendly service, incredible sashimi and Wagyu-based dishes, and free validated parking for 1.5 hours, this is definitely a spot worth checking out for quality Japanese food or to celebrate a special occasion! Amazing food and service. This is high-end Sushi at affordable pricing. Unbelievable menu was so many options. I love all the carpaccio options. Rice-less options..., such as spicy tuna wrapped in tuna belly, which was amazing . Service is top-notch. They validate parking. In a great area of Wilshire Boulevard.

So happy Mid-Wilshire has a new sushi spot in the mix! Umito is such a welcome addition to the neighborhood. The space is cute with a fun, inviting ambiance that makes it great for anything from a casual dinner to a low-key night out. Service was great, and the staff super friendly. They offer both sushi and ramen, which is perfect when you're craving rolls but your friend wants a cozy bowl of noodles. Bonus points for validating parking for 1.5 hours, which is a small detail that makes a big difference in this area.

Signature Sea Urchin Pasta The presentation is so exquisite! The sea urchin and fish roe are scattered on the pasta, making people reluctant to put down their chopsticks ?? Salmon Sashimi It's breathtakingly beautiful and has small purple flowers on it, as if it were an artwork?? Signature Umito Premium Sashimi It's truly exquisite and looks great. It's also accompanied by colorful salts of various colors - ice blue, light yellow, fresh green and black. I've never seen such a variety before. It includes twelve different types of sashimi, which can be eaten with seaweed. The seafood soup is also rich and delicious - a mouthful of freshness! Waygu You can bake it yourself to control the desired degree of doneness. The beef flavor is extremely rich and the milk flavor is truly delicious Special Ramen This black and white ramen has a strong garlic flavor. If you have this bowl during the winter, you will feel very happy The environment is very Japanese-style, with a wide variety of sake and beer options. Whether it's for a gathering with friends or a date, it's perfect for any occasion.

I ordered the Salmon Ikura Bowl and my guest had the Tonkotsu Yama. My order came with miso soup and a small salad, both of which were delicious. The salad had the perfect dressing - not overwhelming but flavorful. My tuna bowl was great. The tuna was perfectly tender and looked beautiful. My guest really enjoyed his Salmon Ikura Bowl. We ordered a chicken karaage to start and it wasn't bad, nothing to write home about though. Since the pieces were large, it was slightly awkward to eat without any plates, and I was just catching the crumbs with my hand (didn't have the ramens at the time). Also got a yuzu beer to try and it was delicious, nice yuzu flavor with some tanginess. I had the shoyu with duck while my husband had the yama tonkotsu that came with fragrant black garlic oil. The tonkotsu is not one of those rich, milky, creamy ones and I personally like these lighter ones more. I also enjoyed the shoyu which had a pleasant depth of flavor, but it felt like it was relying too heavily on MSG for umami. Noodles came out chewy. Definitely not the best ramens I've had but are some of the better ones in LA. Our server was friendly, as were the rest of the staff. Service was quick. The restaurant decor feels straight out of Japan, an extra bit of fun. There's a $10 paid lot behind this block of buildings that's convenient for anything in this part of Little Tokyo.

During the pandemic, I loved ordering their ramen kit and making our own tuskemen. However, I have to say the quality of the food from this location seems to be poorer. I ordered the spicy pork tsukemen. The noodles were a bit soft that I think they were overcooked for a few seconds longer. It didn't have the chewy bouncy texture that I was expecting. The broth seemed to be missing a few toppings that was promised in the menu, there was no green onion, chopped chashu and menma. Overall I enjoyed the ramen, and it was still good, but just not as good as I remembered. The service was just okay as well. I did think the waitress tried her best, but she was the only one person working during Sunday lunchtime. It was very hard to get her attention. While good, it didn't have the crisp flakiness you'd find in a specialty restaurant that specializes in just tonkatsu. However, it is still good. Next up was the omelette with gravy with fried rice that had both shrimp and pork. I feel the egg of the omelette was well made. It had that texture and consistency you would really want from an omelette of that nature. The pork and shrimp fried rice tasted a little light in the seasoning and flavor, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The gravy was also lighter than a heavy gravy as well. When the food came out, I thought the meal would be deeply heavy due to the quantity and the gravy, but it still felt a bit light and manageable, which was kind of outside of my expectations, so that was pretty interesting. I do like the chicken soup this comes with. It has a nice flavorful broth where you could tell it was made well too. The service here is pretty good and attentive.
