Since my LACMA membership and unlimited parking are about to expire, I've been going on a museum marathon lately Between the new LACMA building and the Academy Museum next door, I've basically been living in this area. The Academy Museum currently has exhibitions for Ponyo, Marilyn Monroe, Jaws, and Barbie, which makes it even more worth a visit! While looking for somewhere to eat nearby, I found this newly opened Japanese restaurant that serves sushi, ramen, hand rolls, and drinks all the way until 12 AM. Honestly, I'm jealous of people who live nearby. Imagine being able to grab sushi, ramen, and a late-night drink after a long day! The restaurant itself is very new and beautifully designed. The interior feels a bit like a Japanese street scene, with warm lighting and wooden details throughout. We visited during the day and the natural light was amazing, but I definitely want to come back at night because I feel like the atmosphere would be even better. 【Umito Premium Sashimi】 Such a beautiful presentation! The set comes with 12 kinds of sashimi, rice, seaweed, and seafood miso soup, so you can make your own hand rolls at the table. It also includes a gorgeous nine-seasoning platter that makes the whole presentation even more fun. My favorites were definitely the sweet shrimp, scallops, and tuna. Everything was super fresh, and I loved being able to customize each bite with different seasonings. 【Wagyu】 This is probably one of their signature dishes. The wagyu is served on a continuously heated hot plate, so you can cook it to your preferred doneness. The beef was incredibly tender with great marbling, and the vegetables on the side were delicious too. The mushrooms and peppers soaked up all the beef juices and ended up being surprisingly addictive. We also ordered the Black Garlic Oil Ramen and the Bulgogi Beef Bento Box. I have to give the bento box a special shoutout because it's basically a dream meal for anyone with a big appetite. The lunch special is only $21 and comes with bulgogi beef, tempura, a California roll, miso soup, salad, and rice. The portion was huge and felt like a great value. I've also heard great things about their uni dishes and hand rolls. I wanted to try more, but after the sashimi and wagyu, I was completely stuffed Definitely saving those for next time. We discovered this new Japanese spot in Mid-City (Wilshire & La Brea), and wow, what a find! We arrived around 11:10 PM, knowing they close at midnight, and we were the last table there. In many restaurants, that can mean rushed service or cold energy, but not here. The service was absolutely 10/10. Our server had the best attitude, amazing energy, and was genuinely kind and patient. He even cracked a few jokes and made us feel completely welcome, never rushed. As someone who truly values good hospitality, this stood out to me the most. Now let's talk about the food, especially if you love raw fish like I do. Not just sushi, but sashimi, carpaccio, all of it. Everything was incredibly fresh and beautifully prepared. Hello , We are neighbors, and we decided to try this new place. 1.nice new place,clean. 2.whats funny is the pictures on the social media ,Wow so nice. 3.When we got the food , sushi and rools, Nothing look like the color fish like the pictures. On the pictures nice red color fish , when it arrives to the table, I guess its not the same family ....HAHAHAH 4. the owner is busy cleaning table, Only 1 waitress that need to do everything , so you dont get your food on time,and they forget few dishes, Ohhh you still want it... !!!! Wow! This place is a total upgrade from what used to be here. The inside is really stunning, they designed it beautifully. The food is excellent. I got the veggie bento box and I can't believe how much food I got. Plus it was all delicious. And the service was top-notch. They kept walking around and making sure we were good to go. The sashimi platter is gorgeous！12 kinds of fish and uni with colorful sea salts, plus rice and seaweed for DIY hand rolls, and the seafood soup with crab was super fresh.
