I've been bringing my nonverbal autistic 3 year old to Uncle Chop for about a year and a half now, and the difference has been amazing. What used to be me holding him down while he fought the haircut has turned into him running into the shop and climbing into the seat on his own. Uncle Chop is so patient and great with him, and both of my kids love coming here. The shop always feels clean, the atmosphere is welcoming, and booking has been easy every time. This was my first time at this particular shop, and it was the day before, my son's senior prom!! Goodness!! I was so happy there was somebody with an available chair to cut/style his hair!! Rob/Primo was his barber for the day, and he was able to fit us in just as two other barbers were finishing up. Everybody was incredibly friendly, even the other barbers in the different chairs, and they all seem to have their own joint/communal conversation amongst the different people getting haircuts, as well as the barbers cutting the hair. Like a bunch of friends, just talking!! it was quite refreshing to see such great camaraderie within coworkers, as well as learning and meeting your community! As I spoke to one gentleman, I noticed everyone seemed to ask him about a lot of local items and things going on so I asked him if he was the owner. He smiled and replied back, "this is all of our shop. We are here together, so I don't say it's mine or his or hers." Such an open ended inclusive way to look at things!! Very sweet in fact!! Hee. My son will definitely be back here to get his haircut since they know how to cut different textured/curly hair. We've gone to so many other random barbershops and they have honestly messed up his curls or did too tight of a shave up the back, and then he got razor burn. Everything was incredibly clean, Organized and methodical!! They even have a little fridge and offered us water! Incredibly sweet and home like feeling!! Plus, I loved all the local artistry and mini murals on the walls!! I forgot to ask, but it looks like the same artist painted all the different jerseys and logos from the area of Silicon Valley! Uncle Chop was great with my toddler's first hair cut. First off, the cut looks great. We were starting with a mix of baby hair and several curl patterns, so I was not expecting his hair to come out looking so good yet! His curls look great and are so much easier to care for now. Uncle Chop also just made my normally wiggly kid really comfortable. He talked to him constantly and even had him turn the clippers on and off several times so that we wasn't scared by them. I was looking for a barber shop where I can take my youngest son to because he needed a fresh look way over due! It's a challenge for me and for us to maintain his natural curly hair but after reviewing Yelp, I was confident that this barbershop had the magic touch to help us. Scheduling was super easy via their website and you get a text reminder confirming your appointment and another 30 minutes as a reminder. It's in Willow Glen area off Lincoln so leave early so you can have ample time to find parking. Parking is hard and limited. We arrived early. Our appointment was with Clifton. My son's hair was severely tangled and he had a lot of hair. He was nervous and we anticipated the pain of picking his hair to untie the knots but let me tell you what we both loved about Clifton. Clifton is an honest and patient man! He reassured not just me but my son that his goal was to not hurt him and he will do his best to cut his hair. Clifton delivered above 100 percent and if I could give 20 stars, I definitely will and so will my son. My son was nervous at first and left beaming with excitement and confidence and said he will be back next month. LOL I appreciate the honesty and advice because my son is the only of our family with beautiful curly hair and now we have a fresh start and will definitely be back next month! Thank you Clifton.
