The prices are certainly a bit more expensive than the traditional barber however absolutely worth it. I love this place for my hubby. Today we treated my brother in law to a bit of pampering. He was impressed with the service all the way around. Even offered him his favorite 'bourbon & coke'. While my husband and I waited they offered us a drink. I enjoyed a nice sparking water. Disappointing First-Time Experience I got my husband a gift card to Hammer & Nails for Christmas since it looked like a great place to treat himself and enjoy a premium barbershop experience. As a first-time guest, he was supposed to receive a complimentary $60 upgrade that included a haircut, shampoo, conditioning scalp massage, razor outline, aftershave massage, and hot towel. Unfortunately, the experience fell short in almost every way. His barber (a tall redhead) seemed rushed from the start. The session, which was supposed to be around 45 minutes, barely lasted 20 minutes. He had to ask for the shampoo and conditioning--which were supposed to be part of the package--and the scalp massage was quick and not relaxing at all. The razor outline never happened, the neck shave isn't even included, and even the hot towel had to be requested. For a "premium" service, the attention to detail and pampering were just not there. My husband left saying he could've gotten a better cut and experience at Supercuts in 15 minutes. I was glad I didn't load too much money onto his gift card because if the next visit isn't better, he definitely won't be going back. Hammer & Nails has a great concept, but the execution today was mediocre at best. Probably skip unless it's a gift card. read more

Feedback: I realize this is subjective in that everyone likes different types of music but the last few visits the vibe is off. Can you please please please change up the music and add some '90s grunge / alternative rock, or some '90s-00s hip hop? Today it was a bunch of '80s movies synth pop ballads and even Enya with "Sail Away Sail Away Sail Away" today... really ruined my haircut to be honest and def not a "haircuts for guys" vibe. Just my opinion. If it doesn't change, I'll be wearing AirPods next time. Haha. Also, you guys are a business charging hundreds of dollars off each customer paying for haircut memberships monthly, can you please at least subscribe to the streaming service you're playing the music through so we don't have to sit there and listen to Spotify ads? I'm a first time customer and was so excited to get a beard trim. 15 mins before I was set to have my appointment I got a text that they were running behind 15 mins. No big deal! I waited in my car. I got there on time and proceeded to wait 45 minutes with no end in sight. I eventually asked if I could reschedule but they said they have nothing for today. Horrible service. The subscription model they use here is a scam to try and get additional money from customers for months after they stop coming. My partner went here only to have their feet left *bleeding* by the botch of a pedicure they gave them. They stopped going after that, and after multiple rounds of attempting to cancel the subscription, they were still being charged. They have stolen a ridiculous amount of money from several customers, judging by other reviews. It seems if you attempt to cancel, they simply 'freeze' the subscription and quietly renew it. The audacity to do this to a customer who was INJURED by a service is unbelievable. They state on their website you can only cancel over the phone, so conveniently you can't get anything in writing, and they can 'reinterpret' your request to cancel as a freeze. Naturally contacting anyone who can actually verify your account is truly cancelled is virtually impossible if they decide so. Now after months of ignored attempts at contact they are sending fake texts as though a service has been scheduled and rendered. It has not. This is fraudulent and should be investigated. Bad business practice at the very least. I suspect they will ignore this negative review like they do the others. read more

Been going here for a couple of years and the service has continued to deteriorate. I've had multiple times where I've shown up for appointments and not received a call that it was cancelled and needed to be rescheduled. The guy at the front desk is not helpful at all and a poor communicator. I sat in the waiting room after being told they'd get me in after a scheduling mistake for them then to ask me about moving to the next day. The location is next door to the Table on Lincoln in downtown Willowglen. When you walk in you'll notice very cool décor. They have products that they develop in-house (they don't just outsource and slap on a label), offer barber and feet services. Their pricing is interesting. Basically it's a la carte (regular haircut $60'ish, premium cut $90'ish which includes a razer and massage), drinks for a cost, etc. They do offer subscription/membership services that make sense if you go twice a month. Well this turned out horribly. Let me begin by saying the staff is uber friendly and hospitable. They do go out of their way to make sure you have a nice experience. I schedule a manicure and beard trim. Mani was good. No issue. Cant remember the young lady's name but very sweet and did a good job overall. Mike the barber....awesome dude but should never cut/trim beards. I asked for a trim and shape. I even showed him a photo for reference. He hacked my mustached and raised it off my lip and cut it crooked to boot. Then he trimmed the beard...one side is longer than the other and the cheeks are crooked. I only noticed this when I got home and had a better look at it. I am sorry but this is awful. Can't even correct this. I know it hair and it will grow back but I paid for this.... Well... after searching for a haircut place for so long I finally decided to give this place a whirl. Very good ratings although not a very great experience.. Upon walking in for my appointment I was asked my name and then left in the waiting area. The person who was going to cut my hair showed up there after. Had a not so good feeling about getting my haircut with particular person. I asked for a combover with a fade and skin on the lower bottom . I got a zero instead and the lighting isn't to great in there so once I got home I could see little hairs and also not exactly the haircut I wanted. The reviews on yelp mention you get complimentary drinks which I though was cool. I wasn't offered no type of beverage, I really don't care if it was free or I'd have to buy a beer which I have no problem doing so. But the fact they advertise this and are not consistent with all clients is a major downfall.. Not sure if it's a race thing or not. As they were not to busy at the moment. But 2 different clients came in after me and guess what. I see them with a glass of wine and the other one gets an 805 beer handed to him. Yeah they were white so again not sure if there is some preference going on but most defiently not coming back again. Not to mention the overall price for a haircut and a beard trim came out to $130. Ridiculous. Will definitely make sure to spread the word about their false advertisement and race preference.
