Pizza was delicious and loved the ambiance inside however, charging $16 for a Cosmo half the size of a typical martini glass is an absolute joke and unacceptable. Literally went to an Italian steakhouse right after this for a second drink and it was cheaper and double the size....if they don't fix this then I won't be back. This was probably one of the worst restaurants we've experienced. I went to Uncle Frank's with my family on a Sunday afternoon. The place was pretty empty. When we walked in the hostess greeted us and sat us down. After waiting about 10 minutes, no one came over to ask us if wanted anything to drink. Finally, after 15 minutes a guy walked over and poured water in our glasses and said a server would be over soon. We patiently waited another 15 minutes and still no one acknowledged us. There was a waitress who kept looking around the restaurant and couldn't care less that we were sitting there, even after making eye contact with us. She was very interested in chatting with the bar tender. After waiting for about 25 minutes, no one had taken our drink order, go over specials, or even check if we were ready to order. We decided at that point to just walk out of the restaurant. The girl that greeted us up front seemed to care less and the bar tender was eating a piece of cake as we walked by. My family and I go out quite often and we have never ever walked out of a restaurant. I wouldn't try it again and definitely wouldn't recommend it. There are plenty of other places in the area to spend our money and time, especially on brick oven pizza and pasta. read more

My husband and I stopped in around 5:30pm on a Saturday night. The place was fairly full with decent seating remaining at the bar. As we didn't have reservations, that's where we sat (they kindly offered for us to wait for a table, but we were starving). The ambiance was upscale quirky, and I really liked it. Also, I must say, the servers/bartenders are excellent and if I was reviewing the restaurant based on them alone, it would get 5 stars. Unfortunately, I am including in my review the food and pricing. To start, we each ordered a cocktail (mine was a mocktail). He ordered the Quando, Quando, Quando, an espresso martini made with tequila, real espresso, demerera, espresso Campari and a twist of orange peel (which we were told they're only allowed to twist the oil into the glass with, and can not put into the drink--we thought, that's strange, but who knows what goes post-Covid these days). I ordered the Carmen, a classy, zero-proof libation which consisted of lemon, chili tincture, basil honey, Lyre's Italian spirit. Not knowing what it was, the bartender showed me the ingredients to the Lyre spirit and it was chock full of preservatives. I decided to try it anyway. The upside? Both drinks were excellent. Truly, they were amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed them. At $15 for his martini and $12 for my mocktail, we weren't shocked, as in the local Wantagh/Bellmore area, this seems to be the average price for a large drink. The downside? These are not large drinks. These are not even medium-sized drinks. The drinks were served in petite 1960's-esque glasses; his in a coupe glass, mine in a in a Nick and Nora-style glass, and both containing *maybe* 5 ounces of liquor from our vision standpoint (and also the standpoint of "how many sips does it take to get to the bottom of an Uncle Frank's cocktail glass"). Moving onto the food. My husband ordered the Sausage and Peppers pizza. I just want to note here that every pizza states that it has mozzarella cheese except this one and two others. He wanted to confirm there was no mozzarella, but was told it did have mozzarella (confusing). He asked if it was possible to get it sans mozzarella and perhaps with some pecorino instead (he's allergic to cow casein but can do sheep cheese--trust me, we know how annoying it is). The server said they'd have to confirm with the kitchen first. This seems like a relatively simple request, so just note that if you want to easily change things around to your liking, this may be an issue for you. Thankfully, they were able to do it for him. As for me, I am gluten sensitive, which is honestly a pain in the neck not just for the staff, but for me as well. I realize how utterly annoying it is. So please note: if you are celiac, Uncle Franks is not gluten-free friendly. I personally can do sourdough, but these are not sourdough pizzas. So my only menu options were the House Salad (gem lettuce, soppressata, red onion, cherry tomato, Italian dressing) and a breaded roasted asparagus that could be made without the bread crumbs. They do not replace regular pasta for GF pasta in any of their pasta dishes. I opted for the salad. We were told the food might come out separately as there were different stations in the kitchen (also confusing), so we expected my salad first. Surprisingly, my husband's personal pie came out very quickly and I had to wait a few more minutes for my salad. Again, both meals were very good--the pizza was nothing completely unique, but the crust had a nice char on it and my husband enjoyed it. The salad was City-sized, definitely not a LI-diner-sized salad and could only feed one person as an appetizer. Unfortunately, it was my main meal and I was still hungry when I finished it. That being said, I really enjoyed it. Can we get to the good part? We got the bill, and it was just under $74.00. In Wantagh. Not the city. Reminder of what was ordered: two very tiny drinks, one personal pizza and one small salad. We were able to subtract around $2.50 for paying in cash and left $85.00. I can not emphatically express enough how that pained us. So if I'm giving one star for each of five items--service, ambiance, drinks, food, and price--unfortunately, we're barely landing at three stars. Service--great. Drinks--excellent, but too small (half star). Food--very good but small portions and too expensive (half star). I'm throwing in a other star because I liked the ambiance and decorating. We love the location and got to sit in the corner of the bar by the front door, as we used to when it was Corry's...sadly, as it stands now, Uncle Franks doesn't fit into our budget. read more

Excellent service at the bar with Mike. A++. Baked clams were tasty and perfect. Fresh, lovely breadcrumb and deliciously moist. Bucatini pasta was cooked perfectly ala-dente and the uncle Franks pizza was cooked to perfection! Tasty crust wonderful mozzarella and then basil was super fresh. Excellent mid week date night! They did a great job inside. Everything looks great. As for the experience, the app (artichokes) we're delicious. The pizza was ok. Nothing to write home about. The drinks were a big disappointment. My first one tasted like cough syrup. My wife's drink was eh. The waitress didn't seem to care and was a little on the rude side. A friend had the same waitress and said the same thing. Our first time visiting Uncle Frank's but we have previously visited their other resturants (Blackbird & Rustic Root) many times and the food was fabulous and the drinks were refreshing as always.The staff was very attentive and accommodating. 3.5/4 stars. Seated on time, a little tight but just like blackbird. To start, the drinks are small pours so that was a bit overpriced. Pizza bread is amazing as well as the crispy artichokes. Paccheri pasta was very tasty too. We ordered the pizza with kale and the Queen marg so a more basic red sauce. The crust was great but pizza was just okay. I would rather go to Blackbird since we ordered the non pizza plates more. The front space was very cool with an open window. And I do like how they kept consistent with blackbird ambiance with the candles on the tables. read more

Uncle Frank's is very nice and the Soppressata Pizza was absolutely delicious. Bartender was very nice and made good drinks. The only downside was the martini glasses are the smallest glasses I have ever seen and the drink was $16. We are regulars are Uncle Franks but my last experience there has put us off a bit from going back for awhile. I ordered from their website and picked it up. I thought because I went direct to their website I was ordering directly from them, but somehow it was from DoorDash and prices jacked up. $27 for a vegetarian pasta was very overpriced and underwhelming. I thought this was their regular price but then checked the website and it's actually $22. I feel a bit duped and will not be ordering online from them again. :( read more

I went for the first time with my girlfriend and family last night. The service was warm and attentive. The wine list is well curated and thoughtful. We shared the crispy artichokes and the spicy rigatoni suppli to start. The texture and flavor were both spot on.. We shared a smoked proscuitto freshly made bucatini pasta along with two pizzas( Kale pizza "guero" and the prosucuitto arugula pie. The toppings were flavorful and the dough was some of the best I have had. We loved the Tiramisu and it was divine. Will definitely come back and try more. The vibe is hip and comfortable. read more

Obsessed!! This is the perfect place to take your family. My kids loved the pizza and meatballs- they were literally licking the plate! Meanwhile, parents could order a delicious, unique cocktail. It felt like a tapas style pizza place because my husband and I could order a few things and share. It gave us a chance to sample a few different pizzas. We got the sausage and peppers pizza which was excellent! It wasn't messy or greasy and there was plenty of meat on the pizza. We also got the caramelized onion and mozzarella pie and it tasted like French onion soup- yum!! The asparagus is perfection with the sauce and parmesan cheese! Chris, the owner, was so friendly and made his rounds to the customers. He was attentive and friendly which really made us feel so welcomed and comfortable there. His staff really takes his lead and was helpful and knowledgeable. They even stopped and took the time to talk to our young kids. The final cherry on top was not only the incredibly delicious tiramisu, it was the delightful decor. The warm woods and fun wallpaper made the place feel fresh and young but also homey and welcoming.
