Found this place by chance as I was down in Suwanee for business and what a find. The ambiance reminds one of an old time butcher shop and it just gets better from there. Kass, our server was attentive but not overly so, and the food was amazing. I had the ribeye with the porcini rub and the slight mushroom flavor worked beautifully with the perfectly seasoned and prepared meat. Be careful where you sit. The fans inside and outside can dry out your eyeballs. I sat outside because we were initially seated inside by the bar and omg the fan was like a tornado above our heads. Not sure how me and my husband managed to spend $170 for dinner. We shared one bacon appetizer, each got a meal, each got an alcoholic drink, each got a dessert. My drink was some sort of whiskey cocktail and I kid you not, I think the whole cup was whiskey only. I didn't taste the peach flavoring or whatever it was supposed to be garnished with. I got a Reuben and the corned beef wasn't corny enough and sliced were thick. I'm more of a thin slice girly. I had the coconut cake for dessert and it was comically large. However, the notice that there's a 3% credit card fee is in tiny print at the bottom of one section of the menu, and it's easily missed if you're not ordering from that section. Frankly, that's really shady. If you're going to charge extra for using a credit card, the notice needs to be so prominent that the average customer doesn't miss it. Also, stop calling it an admin fee on the receipt. That just makes it look like you're trying to hide it and it's tacky. read more

I recently dined at Jack's Meat House in Duluth, GA with a party of eight, and the experience was very disappointing. One of the members of our party ordered a steak costing over $50. When the rest of our food came out, the server explained that the kitchen had simply forgotten to make it. When it finally did arrive, it was rushed, badly overcooked to well-done, and clearly not what was ordered. The guest was so hungry by that point that he ate it anyway, but nothing was done to make the situation right--no apology from management, no offer to fix it, no adjustment on the bill. To make matters worse, when the check arrived, there was a 20% service/gratuity charge automatically added. At no point were we told about this policy, nor was it listed on the menu. When I asked the server, they claimed it was shown on the menu, but when I asked to see it again, they refused. I later checked the menu online, and sure enough, there was no mention of this charge anywhere. I considered disputing the charge with my bank, but I decided leaving this review would be more helpful. The lack of transparency, poor service recovery, and refusal to own up to mistakes show a serious lack of professionalism. read more

Hands down my favorite place in Duluth to eat. I work in Duluth once a month and each and every time I come here, I visit. The food is amazing. Love the crème Broule style corn, the brussel spouts and the bacon on a rack with peanut butter and maple syrup are to die for. This place is what I think of first every time I come to this area. First, let me say that the applewood smoked bacon appetizer is pretty remarkable. It comes with syrup and peanut butter to put on the bacon which to me, sounds like a very odd combination but turns out is very delicious together. They also ordered the lamb appetizer which I am not typically a fan of lamb, but surprisingly enjoyed very much. I did order the sweet smoke Manhattan that was way too sweet for my liking. But that's on me not on the restaurant. For my entree I did the mushroom Swiss burger that was probably one of the better mushrooms with burgers I've ever had. The fries were great, although I tried to order a side Caesar. Apparently you can't have that. Just the house salad which is a bummer. Food is pretty average good but the steak is pretty Ok I was on the carnivore diet for a couple years just recently and now still eat mostly meat so my palate is tuned up for steak. I wasn't impressed and I've eaten here three different occasions I feel they don't put enough pride into their meat. (Meaning where or the type of meat / grass fed? Not sure but just doesn't seem like it or the way they cook it .. I don't really know) They certainly act it (which is great and they're great people I feel) and charge for it but I don't feel the meat meats the pricing, their excitement over it nor the and ambiance that helps sell it. Our servers during our time were Princess (main server) and Tisha (in training). They were very personable and on top of most. The burgers used to be the best burger in town, and now it's just meh. ho-hum. boring. 1/2 size what it was, for higher price ttag. They cheaped out on size of the burger, and quality and quantity of toppings to the point it's just no longer worth the price. we've been coming to this location for maybe seven years now, after Covid it all went downhill. We gave them grace during Covid figuring they were trying to save money as they shrunk the food sizes down, raise the prices, started charging ridiculous. Eight dollar take out fees. And when I order out, we always got screwed even worse on the quantities. So we had a no more takeout from Jack's rule in my house. But we still went there to eat in person occasionally. Slightly better experience, but overall still the same issue. I remember when you could get that Ooey gooey Mooey burger- piled high with numerous pieces of them, maple bacon, a gigantic portion of the pulled pork and a big old fat burger that I could barely eat half of without the bun. It was ridiculous and wonderful all at the same time! Now I eat the whole burger, lucky to piece together what would equal a quarter to a half a piece of bacon and a pinch of barbecue, the burgers probably at least only half as big as it was very disappointing. Only haven't gotten steaks a couple times a year there, my recollection of the changes aren't so substantial in that area, but I'm sure others could tell you better at the same has happened to those as the hamburgers. read more

I love this place. I wonder why we haven't been here before. It's located in a really nice area and there's private parking. I would recommend making reservations, but it wasn't super busy when we went. They have an outdoor seating area as well with high tops. If this is your first time, they give you some complementary bread, which is delicious but it's kind of big bread. It's very plentiful. A good portion sizes. The service is stellar. I made my own burger with my husband got the ooey gooey burger and he loved it! they have tons of appetizers, including hi and bacon and some seafood options as well. Good selection of spirits and knowledgeable bar staff. Johnathan was our server and did a great job with a party of 13. That is a lot of drink orders and questions to answer. Not problem for him. The food was surprisingly tasty since the overall reviews for this place isn't that stellar. The place was pretty packed on a Sat night at 8 PM with more people still coming in. We sampled the applewood smoked bacon from a friend, and it was a nice thick cut. The peanut butter interestingly worked well with the bacon. Odd as it seems, it provided an interesting flavor and texture profile. You get a total of 5 pieces of varying sizes. The meat house charcuterie board was nice too composing of 3 cheeses and 2 meats. It had a nice presentation and was a good sharing option. Cheeses and meats, you can't go wrong unless your group is dairy intolerant or vegan. I had the free range chicken pasta. Though I was if-y since chicken dishes can be bland, I was not disappointed. The pasta sauce was flavorful and thick. The chicken was pretty flavorful as well. The mushrooms were a nice touch and added good flavors and colors to the dish. The hubs had the boneless ribeye with espresso. That thing was really juicy and tender. The cut was nice and think; it was so succulent. Yes, espresso do sound strange, but it wasn't an overwhelming flavor. I was digging his pick even though I'm not a pure meat person. Since the steak doesn't come with a side, he ordered the roasted local mushrooms. They were really good and very similar to the mushrooms in mine. The portion size was decent with the nice flavors. The cheese sticks are pricey as you only get 2 wedges for $12?? I had the Atlantic salmon. Great if your low-carb as it comes on a bed of shredded cabbage, carrots and some kind of sauce. Not sure where to begin. We ordered the Crispy Pork Belly "Chicharrones" it gives 2 options, we asked for the maple glazed and got the hot sauce and lime. Then we ordered the Fried Grande Mozzarella Wedges which only comes with 2 for $13 and are not very "grande". Think TGiFridays frozen wedges. We ordered 2 of the burgers and asked for medium, then I changed to medium well. Both came out more medium rare. Asked for ranch and they give you a tiny cup for $1. The food at this restaurant is undoubtedly good--no complaints there. I'm writing this review after dining here more than 25 times. However, enjoying the food comes at the cost of enduring several frustrating experiences that seem to happen every time. To start with, the service is consistently poor. The management team lacks the basic skills required to run a restaurant. For example, they don't even have proper steak knives. I had to repeatedly ask for a different knife to cut a tomahawk steak, only to be handed the same dull type each time. The billing process is another nightmare. For our party of 11, the final bill included multiple fees--service fee, admin fee, credit card fee, and a management fee--on top of a 20% tip. When we asked for clarification, several staff members came over and gave conflicting answers. It honestly felt like a comedy skit. To make things worse, we found foreign substances in our food--items that looked like barcode tags. The manager acknowledged the mistake but showed no willingness to apologize. The booking experience was equally absurd. I was forced to sign an agreement requiring a $250 security deposit and a $500 minimum spend, plus management fees, admin fees, service charges, and a mandatory 20% tip--all for a restaurant that had nearly all tables empty on the night of our visit. This agreement was pushed on me by a lady manager and someone named Stephen Robinson from the back office. I have full video recordings from six different angles capturing the incident and the way we were mistreated, mainly by one female manager acting on behalf of Stephen Robinson. I sincerely thought twice about saying anything, but I don't want any steak lovers to walk into this establishment without knowing to be slightly wary. We've been here numerous times over the years. The quality has always been outstanding, the ambience is nice and laid back, and the service is good depending on who takes care of you. We like that we can come in without dressing up and get a great quality steak. We were all craving a little red meat last night, so here we are! We only got one appetizer before digging into the meat. It was the octopus, which we've gotten numerous times. This is the first time that it has been tough to get through and it still had the gelatinous skin attached, which was ick, to say the least. We normally demolish it, but left half of it. I enjoyed the olives on the plate more than the octopus. The steaks arrived about 5 minutes after the app. We got 2 prime filets and the Wagyu steak, some good ol fashioned potatoes and some asparagus. The sides were enjoyable enough, my and my husband's steaks looked good upon first review, but my son's filet was massive and looked more like a sirloin than filet. As an 11 year old, he liked it, but I know it wasn't what we ordered. I truly wish I had taken a pic of it. My husband's steak wound up having an incredible amount of sinew and chunks of fat in his Wagyu, which is not indicative of that meat. My filet tasted ok, but was overdone on the salt and butter. I could take it or leave it. I say this because I usually "yummm and mmmm" at every bite, as well as does my family. We appreciate good steak and trust the establishment to take care of us properly. It really feels like we were given subpar product because they didn't think we'd know any better. This is the first time I feel like corners were being cut, and I just can't shake it. My husband never complains, and he couldn't hide his disdain when asked how the meal was 20 minutes later. The manager did not make contact with us, just threw us a discount and some $10 cards, and left it to the server to deal with the issue. For the quality of the food that's being touted here, a manager should be doing a quick table touch to see the product and frankly, find out if we're full of it or have a legit complaint. Like I said, this just didn't sit right with me (obviously, look at this freaking rant I'm going on), so buyer beware is all I'm saying. read more

I don't know who has been hiding this place from us but WOW. Klint got the Monday meat plate with St Louis ribs, smoked beef brisket and pulled pork. I got the King burger: dry-aged burger blend, homemade peanut butter thick cut maple glazed bacon and caramelized bananas. Their fries are pretty good and the Mac n cheese side we got was probably the best Mac n cheese I've had in a restaurant, ever. Klint got a piece of coconut pie. Not overly sweet, silky and quite good. I got the cookie plate: a peanut butter maple bacon bacon cookie, a lemon marshmallow cookie & a Nutella stuffed chocolate cookie sprinkled with sea salt. Purely food based review: Bacon Appetizer - Comes out on a cool metal hanger with syrup and peanut based sauce. Very thick cuts of bacon, tasted pretty good but definitely something you share. Brisket Mac & Cheese - Great side, love the different cheeses and brisket bits. Corn-brulee - Unique side that's more sweet than I thought but tasty and worth a try. NY Steak Sandwich - Holymoly do they give you a huge portion of meat. The side dip is great for fries too. Would definitely get this again but expect it to be messy. read more

They give you two dipping sauces as well. New Zealand Lollipop Lambchops - 9/10 MY FAVE, I ordered this as my main dish. It was flavorful, tender, and just overall recommend!! Open Gooey Mooey Burger - My fiancé got this burger and he said it was the best burger he's ever had. If you like blue cheese, you'll love this Sides of Corn Brûlée and Max & Cheese - 7/10. The mac & cheese was good but nothing special, it was super filling. I wasn't sure what to expect with the corn brûlée but it was very sweet and the corn was very mashed up so much so that it was like mashed potsto, the texture wasn't quite there for me but flavor was good if you like something sweet! Food and service were amazing. I took my husband here for the first time for our wedding anniversary in April. He enjoyed the hot chicken sandwich he got he really enjoyed the slaw that came on it. I had the ribs and the brussels and they were very good. The ribs were very tender. The brussels were charged, but not too charred. They were a little too sweet though. My steak was very very good, just the way I like it charred on the outside and with an espresso rub YUM. The hanging bacon appetizer was a neat concept and tasty also. The warm soufflé with salted caramel icing was decadent and definitely enough for 2+ to share! Didn't give it 5 stars because we literally froze it was so cold in there, hard to truly enjoy a meal for me that way. They keep the doors open and it had a cold breeze going, though they have heaters outside with insulation it just wasn't pleasant for me. I've been underwhelmed in Duluth with the restaurant scene, but Uncle Jacks did not disappoint. Definitely coming back on my next visit.

The food was good. My husband loved his Filet Mignon. However, I had the salmon, and my food was salty. But when I mixed the salmon with the Risotto, it balanced out the saltiness. I also felt like the Lobster Mac and Cheese was too salty also. The coconut cream pie was very good. However, the service when you first entered the restaurant was HORRIBLE. When we first arrived at the restaurant, we were treated VERY bad, first by then Host and then by the Manager. They wanted to sit us at a High Top Table, and when I said that I did not want a High Top, they told us that we could sit at the bar. (I was in a shorter dress, so a High Top table was not appropriate. And with my job, I cannot be seen just sitting at a bar.) When I told them that I wanted a table, they told us it would be a 45 minute wait. They were going to make us wait 45 minutes, even though we had a reservation through Open Table (and we had already told them we had a reservation). What was the point of the reservation through Open Table? Eventually they did put us at a table outside. We were originally recommended this restaurant by a couple friends, and IF we ever go back, it will only be because my husband liked his steak.
