I got the jalapeño salmon which was as plain and as unexciting as you can make 'em. Just a boring dish. Portion was pretty generous though . Also got a mojito that was - surprise surprise - generic and boring They charged us an exuberant 22% service fee as we were a table of eight. A bit too much in my eyes I would recommend to skip . Uncle Julio's used to be my favorite Mexican restaurant. They're still not bad, but have gone downhill. Their salsa is not as good as it used to be, the queso is definitely not as good, and I miss the Blanco queso. Like everywhere else the portions seem to be smaller but the prices are definitely higher. I have been a very loyal customer to uncle Julio's and I really hope they can get their food back to the way it used to be. I could tell that their business has decreased because the dining room was at least half empty. In spite of this, the service was still slow, particularly when getting drinks. read more

We usually like Uncle Julios, but we had a take out order that was just not good, we were so disappointed. They messed up the order, left parts of our order out and when we called we got hold music for 10 minutes before giving up. We ordered a large guacamole and a small queso with picadillo. Check out the pictures. I put the quarter in there to show size. Thats a $12 large guacamole next to a $9 small queso. Value is poor for the $$, food was cold even though i was early to pick up, and the missing parts of our order is frustrating. Caveat Emptor! read more

Good food, sometimes the service could be better but I get it. The waiters are overworked and stretched between several tables. Uncle Julio's has great drinks. The margarita in my pic is my go to, which I can never remember the name so I always just show them a pic from Yelp! I used to love coming here. We live pretty far away so we don't come that often. It's been about a year since we came. We came on a Friday. I was concerned it would be a long wait, but to my surprise, they weren't busy at all. It was over halfway empty and there were several tables that hadn't been cleaned yet. The plates were filled with food. You could tell the food was barely touched. I wish I would've left then. It was my husband, my son, and myself. I ordered salmon, my son ordered a kids taco plate with rice and refried beans,and my husband ordered enchiladas and rice and beans. My salmon came out so overcooked. One side of the salmon was hard and seemed like it had been cooked with a dehydrator or something. I've eaten tons of salmon, I've never seen salmon that was almost yellow. The overcooked side looked like congealed grease. My son's hard taco came out so soggy it couldn't be eaten properly and his refied beans were despicable! They had scraped all the hard crusty bits out of the pot and served us that! My husband's enchiladas were terrible. The sauce was all seized up like glue mixed with flour. They took off the salmon. We ended up grabbing burgers on the way home. Our server was nice! I couldn't believe how the quality of food had plummeted since my last visit. It wasn't busy! They weren't slow and served us that food! I would be pissed if I owned this restaurant. This place was always busy! I understand why people aren't coming here anymore. WOW...what happened to Uncle Julio? Well, I used to love the queso but when I tasted it recently, it is YUCKY as my 4 year old grandson said when he tasted it...I sent it back and told them to just bring me the white queso. The manager came over and was so nice. He explained that the new owner wanted to change up the food so it didn't taste like everybody else or something like that. I told him it tastes like goat cheese and I HATE goat cheese and he stated it now has goat cheese...OMG. If you detest goat cheese DO NOT EAT THE QUESO! By the way they no longer have the white queso. The nachos are piled high like your local bar nachos with the GOAT CHEESE QUESO on top they are no longer TEX MEX Nachos which I LOVED. I did have rare beef fajitas and thank the Lord, they have not screwed them up...yet. The El Jefe Margarita is still exquisite. The manager offered me their new chimi appetizer and I guess I'm not a chimi girl. Wasn't for me but you might like it. Go to Mercado Juarez across the highway... it's a big step up from this place. Overall, the food was disgustingly bad. Nasty minute rice used and the "pulled chicken" enchiladas (aka enchiladas verdes) were not good at all. It had been 3 months since we visited Uncle Julio's. The good news, our server was wonderful! Unfortunately, the food was just meh. We were craving their queso and ceviche, however they have changed their menu. No more ceviche, so sad. Their queso recipe changed and we found the new one to have a tangy flavor and not enjoyable so we returned it. Our server said it was likely the goat cheese that is now in it. We went with chicken enchiladas with a poblano sauce. Call me old-fashioned but I expected a white creamy poblano sauce. The yellow-green sauce was thin and similar to a tomatillo sauce but with poblanos. I asked if the beef fajitas had changed and she said no, so for that reason we will be back. Absolutely the worst dining experience in a long time. I can't believe that they are still in business and I can guarantee that they won't be in business much longer. They weren't busy at all but took a seemingly long time to bring the food out after we ordered and then brought the table side guacamole out at the same time as the food. We allowed them to prepare the guacamole first. When we looked at the meal (fajitas) we could tell it had been prepared long ago. It was at least room temperature at best. This place is a joke. I made a reservation for October 25th under the name Jackson. The service was less than mediocre. Our server was very rude. I guess because our party was 17, instead of the 25 I reserved. May have contribute to her unfriendly, and unprofessional attitude. She started out with a demanding tone in her voice. "I will take your drink orders, and your food order, and I will not start until everyone is seated". One person was late. I had to get her attention several times just to get her drink, and food order. I'm used to servers being friendly or at least wishing the birthday person happy birthday. I attempted to ask her for water, I couldn't really get the words out, because she kept interrupting me " I will bring you more tea" this went on for about 30 second until I had to raise my voice, I'm asking for water. Her response " there water on the table" I informed the pitcher is empty. Even if the pitcher wasn't empty, why would I want to drink water out of the glass I was drinking tea in. Instead of putting the water pitcher back in the spot where pick it from, she put on the other end of the table. I ask for Pico with my plate; she brought my plate and stated your plate doesn't come with Pico, and it will cost more for Pico, I said I want Pico. They brought out a shot container of Pico. After she gotten everyone's payment, she walked off. I had to stop her and ask for the cakes I brought in. She brought the cakes and put them on the gift table. You think she would have ask do I need someone to clear the table or plates for the cake. No, she walked off and went to a table where three people had just arrived. I went to the manager, and asked if someone can clear the tables, and for folks. I guess because her gratuity was 20% per check, she didn't feel the need to be polite. And the food was not good. I went home and ate a bowl of creamy chicken noddle soup, my son cooked tasted better than the food I paid for. I've reviewed Uncle Julio's before, always a solid choice. Fresh, well prepared food in a great atmosphere. This time was no different. I had the fish tacos, which were outstanding. Really crispy fish, well seasoned and served on corn tortilla with slaw and sauce. Best I've had outside California. Service was exceptional as well. read more

I think I have a new favorite Mexican place... I'll have to try the Reana's and Samantha's but everything is delicious and I really like the flavors the very deep Complex. It's not Lapin trash, kind of Mexican and it's very well thought out and crafted. Highly recommend. read more

Uncle Julio's used to be my go place fajitas, but the past 3 times I've went I've been overall disappointed. I understand Covid , under staffing, I'm taking into consideration all the circumstances surrounding our way of life right now. That being said I'm not going to bore you with crazy amount of time I had to wait for a table all 3 times I went because like I said it's the way of life now. Onto the food. The chips & salsa here are really good but I think it's because thur food has started to decline which is really sad. I used to love their frothy butter that came with the shrimp now it's just melted butter WTH. I feel jipped! My daughter & I ordered the Guadalajara & split it but was very disappointed. The shrimp were chewy, the rice was tasteless, & the guacamole was watery??? Hmm Hopefully it will get better when it's fully staffed because I really loved this place. read more

The food was tasty except for the rice it had no flavor but overall the rest of the meal was good. I will say the menu is very pricey so expect to pay for your meal. The service was top notch and the ambiance did not fall short either. The establishment we were in was roomy with seating indoors and outdoors. Our server was very friendly, and enthusiastic. The food was great. Chicken fajita meat very moist. Beans were less than luke warm though. An employee was in an adjacent room near the restroom hallway brushing black fuzz out of the ceiling vents. It was gross to see it falling to the floor and likely filling the air and dropping on the tables already set with napkins, plates and water glasses. Then another employee began dusting all of the light fixtures throughout that same room above the rest of the tables. Another employee sort of brushed off the set tables without first removing the napkins, utensils, glasses and plates. This sort of cleaning should be conducted... 1) after hours 2) before setting the tables that should then should be cleaned after these actions. Living in Arlington, I was so thankful that this location opened, although we didn't mind heading to Fort Worth restaurant of of Camp Bowie. My wife and I visited on a early Saturday afternoon, and the place was pretty busy. We didn't really want to wait for 30-35 minutes, so we sat at the bar. Nothing better than sipping on a Negra Modulo or a nice top shelf on the rocks margarita while you people watch and dive into the menu. We started with some chips and salsa, and decided on our order. I ordered the filet mignon fajitas, medium-rare, and two cheese enchiladas on the side (Don't judge me) and my wife had the bacon wrapped camarones that comes with all the fixings. First, I ordered way to much food, but the fajitas were perfectly cooked, and with the rice, and beans, plus tortillas, etc, I could only have a couple of bites of my cheese enchiladas, but overall everything was very good. My wife enjoyed her bacon wrapped camarones, and even though it comes with stuffed Monterey Jack cheese, none was present. That's OK. With the chips, all of the sides that we had with our entrees, my wife was not very disappointed or upset, but with the restaurant pretty busy on a early Saturday afternoon, we didn't bother to say anything, nor did I reflect it in my overall score. Next time you come in, belly up to the bar, meet some new friends, have a ice cold beer, or margarita or two, and enjoy a nice meal with great service, and a relaxing atmosphere. Arrived as a party of 2 on a Friday afternoon. Walked in to no one at the host area then someone came and politely seated us. Our waiter Mario was fairly attentive. He offered quac or queso as an appetizer in a slick way not really asking if we wanted one or if we even wanted either of those choices, I did not appreciate that slick move. The chips were cold and the.salsa was watery. My companion enjoyed their chicken enchiladas and margarita. I liked my chicken fajitas but not the beans, appeared to be straight from a can. I did like the cute water glasses and complimentary chocolate given with the self pay machine. This location was busy so maybe my taste was off because of the allergy medicine I had taken The decor was nice, plenty seating Inside and outside with a bar area. I've been going to Uncle Julio's for at least 25 years and it's always been consistently good. It's one of those places that, for me, was where I go when I want amazing fajitas because they consistently nail it across all the franchises. The Arlington location missed the mark unfortunately. The flavor was good but the steak was chewy. Very chewy. Either it was cut with the grain or it wasn't skirt meat as advertised. I'm almost certain it wasn't skirt meat. It was closer to Grade A sirloin. Regardless, it came out on a barely heated cast iron skillet so it was only warm, not sizzling hot. It was just meat and onions. They didn't bring any of the sides besides the tortillas. I ate a fajita anyway while I waited for the server to come back so I could ask for the typical fajita sides. It was pretty pricey for what you actually get. I expect to pay for fajitas but you're getting about 3 fajitas. That's not a complaint, it just levels expectations about portions. The person I was with got the bacon-wrapped habanero shrimp and she really like it. Service was slow but to be fair, I think our server was working the whole bar area. Overall, I don't think I'd be back to this location and if I did, no way would I get fajitas. It was mediocre and for mediocre Tex-Mex, there are a lot more options in the Arlington/Fort Worth area. read more

Had a great dinner here. Delicious chips with salsa. We had the guacamole and queso as well and those were also delicious. The guacamole service is also really nice and thorough. Went in over an hour and a half until close 6 adults, 1 baby. Hardly anyone in the restaurant but still took over 10 minutes to get seated. Then we sat there for about another 10-15 minutes because I guess they didn't assign someone to our table?? Waiter finally comes and takes our drink orders, we ordered 3 alcoholic beverages and the other 3 were regular drinks. They take our order , go through all of us, then at the end said "oh we don't have any beef". We take a minute to see the menus since most of us ordered with beef, and finally re order. Waiter comes back, "oh we don't have any shrimp", 2 of us have to relook at menu. At this point is has been about an hour and all we've had is our drinks and chips. Still have not received our alcoholic beverages, waiter goes to check on them and we see him having to make them himself even though the people at the bar had been just standing there the entire time (mind you it's really only 2 drinks because one was a beer bottle. Finally we get our drinks, waiter comes back and says they're out of rice and it's basically closing time at this point. Almost an hour and half there and all we got was our drinks and chips. We decided to leave instead because it was just a huge waste of time by this point. Waiter was great and very apologetic but a seriously ridiculous experience. I visited Uncle Julios in Arlington July 4 weekend. It had been a while since I had been there. My wife and myself plus my sister were totally taken aback at the quality of the food. My wife had enchiladas and they were topped with some kind of cabbage slaw. What? I had the tacos and they were equally bad. We were astonished at the total decline of the food. Today (5/18)...my family and i went to have lunch at Uncle Julio's. The service was "ok" but the drinks (margaritas) were weak. Everyone ordered fajitas...the fajitas were good. But the flour tortillas were cold, the rice was cold and the beans were cold. There was 8 of us and no one ate a flour tortilla. Spent $305 for a bad meal. Next time we will have to go somewhere else. Not happy with Uncle Julio's in Arlington. We were there at lunch and the restaurant was not that busy. You guys need to do better. read more

Ordered via Uber Eats two beef and chicken fajitas. Received 2 partial chicken fajitas with only a few strips of chicken and no beef fajitas in the two combos. Then to make my birthday night worse they didn't give us tortillas at all. I called and the manager Ryan said to come up there and get my tortillas while I'm a birthday party and on the opposite side of town. Each time I visit my family in a Texas, Uncle Julio's is a must. The table side guacamole is absolutely the best I've ever had and the drinks are quite good as well. I ordered the cheese enchiladas with green onions which is what I always order when I come here, or the bacon wrapped shrimp. The enchiladas came out, and did not have green onions but instead, had pico de gallo. I'm not sure if this is the new norm but I didn't complain because it was still tasty. We were seated for about 15 minutes before anyone came to out table to take our drink order. There were 3 other tables in our area and they were left waiting as well. Service has been the downfall of most of our visits this year. We were with a group of 6 for our son's birthday so we decided to order appetizers. We don't usually do this other than a small order of queso so we were unfamiliar with them. We ordered nacho's thinking we would be able to share an order with the table. For 13.00 for bean and cheese nacho's we expected a plater and were shocked when the waiter brought out a plate with 6 nacho's out to the table. Just wow. that's more than 2.00 per nacho. The rest of the meal was just okay. Watery guacamole only 3 tortillas for an order for 2 fajitas, just nothing special. Nothing like it used to be. All of our visits this year have been disappointment. We used to look forward to our visits to this restaurant but I think it's time to write this one off as a loss.
